My boyfriends food was fine but my crab legs were gross- tasted like salt water and some of them were so over cooked it was like rubber. I was in San Marcos from Dallas for the day and we decided to have dinner, we had the calamari with broccoli and peppers which was different but good, though it was more veggies than calamari. We had like a surf n turf plate, the steak was over cooked, the linguine pasta we had were OK but I wouldn't eat it again, The brownie we had for dessert was good Overall the meal was not completely satisfying but I could tell you that our WAITER PAYTON definitely made up for it. Me and Hubby were hanging out in San Marcos, TX yesterday, Thursday, December 2, 2021 and decided to have dinner at Red Lobster. It's been a really long time since we ate Red Lobster. The entrance of the restaurant was clean and the host Christian was really nice and friendly. Christian also ended up being our waiter. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and Pepsi drinks. Hubby ordered the Ultimate Feast which included a Maine Lobster Tail, Really Small Crab Legs, and Walt Fried Shrimp with double Coleslaw (which he didn't eat; he says it tasted like raw cabbage). My entree was the Harborside Lobster and Shrimp which included the Roasted Rock Lobster Tail, Garlic Shrimp Scampi, and a Garlic Shrimp Skewer on a bed of rice with a garden salad and a loaded baked potato. The melted butter was missing from my Harborside Lobster and Shrimp. I asked for the melted butter twice; I never received the melted butter. We asked for drink refills too; we never received refills on drinks either. Overall the food was OK; but we will not visit this Red Lobster again. read more

We went here on Tuesday, my wife loves crab so we went. I'm not a fan of seafood but thought I could fin something to eat. Had the 4 course feast, 7oz sirloin and the creamy langostino and Norway lobster mashed potatoes. My wife loved her king crabs, the steak was tough as shoe leather. The mashed potatoes were the consistency of the New England clam chowder soup I had that by the way tasted like it was from a Campbell's soup can. The salad lettuce had wilted pieces in it. You drop that much money on a meal you expect it to be good not as bad as it was. The biscuits were the only bright spot with the exception that I went 3/4 way through my meal waiting on some to be brought out. Gotta do better if you want me again. read more

We went to Red Lobster for our anniversary dinner on August 27. It was a Saturday night, so they were fairly crowded. I'm currently on crutches, so we thought a table would be preferable to a booth. The only table they had was a large, round 6-top, but we figured that would be fine. I ordered the Crab Lover's Dream (snow crab, king crab & crab linguini), with Caesar Salad, and then grilled zucchini & squash for my side. We shared an app of clam strips. Yeah, I know, the diet went out the window! The Good: The clam strips were really good, as was the tartar sauce that comes with it. The biscuits. OMG the biscuits. They were HOT and fresh and yummy. I'd forgotten how good they are. The King Crab was amazing. Perfectly cooked. Can't speak to the linguini yet (it is my lunch today, LOL). ETA: after having it for lunch, it was quite good. Plenty of crab with nice sauce. The Not-So-Good: My Caesar salad had almost no salad dressing on it. While I don't like it dripping, and probably do prefer less dressing than most people - trust me, this salad tasted like lettuce, and my croutons were obviously the last from the bag as there were tons of crumbs on the salad. Wasn't that worried, because I knew I had a huge plate of food coming. From the entrée, the snow crab was overcooked. I couldn't eat any of the meat in the skinnier portion of the legs, it was seriously WAY tough. Grilled zucchini/squash tasted too "grilled" - just very woody, no squash taste left. The Weird: OK, so maybe it's just me. Remember the aforementioned large table we had? Well our waiter never came around to my side to serve me, he always reached across this large round table to set down my iced tea, salad bowl, etc. The only one who actually came to my side with a plate was another server who brought our entrees. Is that weird? Another thing I didn't care for was that none of the dishes were cleared. By the time we were done and paying the check - really, not one dish had been picked up. I guess it's a good thing we had that large table after all. Overall it was a mostly good experience, just a few misses. On a side note, I'd overheard another waiter tell a couple patrons that they were out of the snow crab......at 7 pm on a Saturday night, you're out of snow crab? (During crab fest!). Don't get me wrong, I don't expect much from Red Lobster but dang, this was just a bad experience. Our waiter however, was awesome! The food was really just not good. It made me sad because I convinced my boyfriend to stray from our Sunday night routine (of Pluckers, see my review there!) to get some lobster bique. "They" took the seafood fondue off the appetizers. It's not on the menu anymore at all. This was super disappointing for me bc I looooooove cheese and I looooooove bread (ahem, and it shows). Boo. So we ordered calimari instead. It came with... breaded broccoli. And breaded red peppers. GROSS. I LOVE broccoli but this was awful, lol. The breading on the calimari came off far too easily and the marinara (?) sauce was wayyyy too salty. I'm not a very picky eater (I mean- we were at Red Lobster after all), but it was just plain yuck. My other half didn't seem to mind it though so maybe it was just me. Also, it came with ranch (no, it was not tartar sauce). LOL. I got the Rock Island stuffed tilapia- YUM. But again, WAY too salty. I was once again saddened bc I was really looking forward to you know, tasting the food. My lobster bisque was forgotten but brought out promptly after I reminded our waiter. Um... I don't even know what to say. Again, I get that we were at Red Lobster and all but damn. I guess they get the "stock" for the bisque from a paste and add water, bc they certainly didn't add enough water. It was lumpy (and no, the lumps weren't lobster) and had the consistency of hair gel. And again... SALTY! I literally added water from my water glass (I hate complaining at restaurants, I'm a wimp) and that made it a little better. The brownie thing with ice cream we had for dessert was soooooo good. My boyfriend said his food was good but I tried a bit of his and it also seemed really salty. I was definitely disappointed in this location this time around. I don't know if we'll be back to this one specifically but the one in RR and the ones in Austin are MUCH better. read more

We've been to RL many times before and it seems that each time we go, it' gets better and better. My husband and i went for a late lunch and decided to try the new deal they have. Apparently it's available for both lunch and dinner. It's the complete meal for $15.00. It includes soup, salad, entree and dessert. I had the clam chowder which is so creamy and smooth with just the right amount of clams. With the first spoonful you will be saying, mmmmm! My husband got the potato soup and he said that it was really good. I ordered the house salad with 1000 island dressing. For and extra fee (small) they will add salad shrimp to your salad. The lettuce is tender crisp and fresh and served on a chilled plate. For entrees, I got the Grilled shrimp and fried coconut shrimp which came with rice pilaf and broccoli. Because I'm not fond of rice pilaf, I asked if I could sub w/ a baked potato and our waiter, Evan, honored my request without a blink. BTW, Evan is usually who we ask for because he is so great! Very personable and friendly. My husband got the fried shrimp and there was so many of them! And lest we not forget those scrumptious Cheddar Bay Biscuits! I mean do I need to go on here about those? They are to die for! For dessert I got the Key Lime Pie, very creamy with just the right tartness on a crispy crunchy crust. My hubby got the chocolate brownie w/ ice cream. He was soooo full! The best 15 bucks I've spent in a while. This place has just about every combination you could want in seafood. Plus for those not interested in seafood, they do have chicken and beef. My friends and I had lunch recently at Red Lobster. It was my first time in Red Lobster since the 90s. Our experience was fantastic! Amber was our server. She was personable, knowledgeable and very attentive. The food was delicious! We ate the lobster pizza and coconut shrimp to start. They were both very tasty and I highly recommend both. I chose the endless shrimp option which was perfect for me to try a lot of different plates. I thought it may take some time to refill our plates yet they outdid themselves with how quickly the food came out. I highly recommend eating here if you are in the area. read more

We came from seguin to enjoy a nice dinner on my first night off in months. We were so pleased that our server Samuel S. Was so kind and wonderful. He suggested the shrimp trio and we both loved it. I'm a bit more picky and he accommodated my needs with ease. He never let our biscuit basket run empty and was always near Incase we needed anything. Went out for lunch after church on 11/4/2018. Started off as on the wrong foot. 15 minutes wait in line at the door to check in at the hostess desk. Waitress, Chandler, came to the table right away. Ordered and received unsweetened teas. No artificial sweeteners on the table. No waitress. Another employee brought biscuits to the table. We asked for Splenda or Equal. I ordered Brussels sprouts and they didn't even cut the ends off of them like they're served in any other place I've ever been. And the crab legs were weird tasting. Like they had some sort of weird chemical mixed in them. And my salad...I had to pick out over half of the lettuce because it was wilted or just pain nasty. I would give this 0 stars if I could. Went here last night to celebrate my dads birthday. The service was not very good. The biscuits didn't come out until just before our food came out(which took almost 45 minutes from the time we ordered our food) because they burned the biscuits. My sister ordered a caprese salad and it came out looking like a soup. We had to send it back. My broccoli was cold, my asparagus looked like it had been left out for a week and someone just microwaved it. And to top it all off, my brother in laws shrimp Alfredo came out 10 minutes after everyone else's food got to the table and the shrimp was still frozen. Alright I normally don't do these. As a restaurant operator, I think Yelp is the worst. I just feel like I have to drop some props on this team tonight. I ordered curbside and showed up 15 minutes early because I wanted to make sure my food wasn't sitting around waiting on me. I texted the number to let them know I was there and waited. Right around when my order was supposed to be ready a girl came out to my car to double check what my name was. I waited about another 10 minutes. No big deal, I didn't complain or make a fuss. A guy came out with my food about 10 minutes after the pickup time apologizing for the wait and let me know that they threw dessert in for my girlfriend and I. I was a little confused; we weren't upset and made zero complaints. That is hospitality. They fixed the problem before it became a problem. In a time where good restaurant employees are hard to come by, they're nailing it. Food tasted great and the drinks were strong too. Thanks y'all! read more

The chowder came lukewarm, the lobster Mac n cheese was lukewarm and looked like it had been sitting out for 15 minutes, shrimp didn't come until we asked for it twice and was not hot, mashed potatoes weren't even lukewarm, manager came five minutes after we asked for them, then had the waiter offer 20% off, which I refused, and then the manager never came back. We waited 10 minutes before no one came and saw us, left $25 on the table as a tip for the waiter, then left. Customer service is clearly lacking at this location and they cannot blame this one one covid. Arrived with a party of 2 at 9pm. Greeted by host (employee). He stated to give him a minute to get a table cleared and he would seat us and had to check on a to-go order. Meanwhile, another couple walked in while we were still by the hosts stand. They were greeted by a server who walked up and told them to wait a minute and he would seat them. He did not acknowledge us or ask if we had been helped. He then proceeded to sit the couple that came in after us before us. When I let him know we arrived before the couple he just sat he grimaced his face and looked around and said "Oh I have a table that just needs to be cleaned and wiped off." There was never an apology that came out of his mouth or an acknowledgment that he made a mistake seating the couple that came in after us. He wouldn't have even acknowledged us if I hadn't said anything to him as he was about to walk off in the other direction. Needless to say they lost our business. By far the worst customer service I have ever received. First off, walking in and being told there is no host for the day 10mins after you have been waiting there. After being sat the waitress said our waiter would be with us with silverware and to take our drink order. 3 other larger groups were then sat after us, had their drinks order taken, given their drinks AND food order taken. All the while I sat with my daughter still waiting to be acknowledged by the many waitresses that made eye contact with us but continued to serve and attend to everyone else. After 20mins of waiting we decided to stand up and walk out. Not before informing the young lady who sat us that someone else could have our table since we were ignored this entire time. When going to certain restaurants I typically stick to the fare that is normally served there, burgers at a burger place, wings at a wing restaurant, seafood at a seafood restaurant etc. However when I stopped in to enjoy a quick meal with my family a while back, I was enticed by the thought of a nice surf and turf. The Lobster was great however what proceeded to pass for a (MEDIUM) filet mignon could not have been further from the truth, I was served a very rare and chewy piece of filet mignon a $6 option over the traditional steak. When I asked for another cut I requested that they simply bring me a medium-well steak what came back was now over cooked (well-done) and about as palatable as a leather boot. While the manager was nice and proceeded to comp the order, I was truly saddened that the turf part of my meal remained absent. My recommendation? Stick with the cheddar biscuits and the surf, stay away from the turf! read more

I don't normally write reviews but felt I needed to share my experience. I have not been a big fan of Red Lobster (beyond their cheddar biscuits) in the past. I've had a few unpleasant experiences. However, I read a few reviews on the San Marcos location, and because it was close to my hotel, I decided to give it a try. I have been pleasantly surprised :) my waiter(Brendon) was knowledgable about the menu, forthcoming with suggestions and very polite. The food when it arrived was well presented and tasted great!! I have spent my meal time observing the rest of the staff and it has been the same with everyone else. If you are in doubt please give them a try, I'm sure you will not be disappointed The brand should be proud of this team :) And the biscuits are still VERY GOOD!!! read more
