My recent visit to Outback Steakhouse was exceptional from start to finish. The food was delicious, but what truly made the experience memorable was the outstanding service. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great dining experience. Drinks were refilled promptly, our order was accurate, and every request was handled with a smile. Erin's positive attitude and genuine kindness made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. It's clear she takes pride in providing excellent customer service. I'm getting so tired of having mediocre food at inflated prices! We ate here for an early dinner last Sunday and were disappointed. The restaurant wasn't busy so we were seated right away. Our waitress was decently friendly, but she kept disappearing for long periods of time, and I think she only had 1 other table, so that was just weird. I ordered their smoked bourbon drink, which was the only really good think about our meal. We both got the 6oz steak and chicken meal, I got mine cooked medium with a side salad and baked potato and my husband got his cooked medium well with the mac and cheese and a baked potato. The food took a very long time to come out which, again, was strange because there were only a few tables with diners at that time. My steak was cooked correctly, but I was unimpressed with the shrimp sauce I paid extra for on top. The shrimp were overcooked and it lacked flavor. The steak itself was ok, as was the chicken and baked potato. The side salad was not good at all, with extremely bitter white iceberg lettuce making up the majority of the salad. I didn't finish it. My husband had to send his steak back because it was quite literally rare (straight up purple inside). Took us a minute to flag down our waitress because, as I said before, she kept disappearing. She took one look at the steak and apologized, saying it was defintely rare and she would "have them throw it back on" to cook it correctly. I'm sorry, what? How are you going to take a steak that is already cut open and had a couple bites out of it (the edge was more done) and then cook it more? That is just going to dry it out, that is not how one cooks steak! So unprofessional. Literally at least 10 minutes later (after I had already finished eating) she brought back out the exact same steak which was, surprise, now dry and overcooked. There was no attempt to make it right, at all, no discount, nothing. For the price we were paying, this is not ok. We are not picky and over critical, I swear! We honestly just want mildly friendly service with food of an acceptable quality equal to the price paid. This is becoming increasingly rare, resulting in us eating at home a lot more. This is a chain restaurant from Florida and it was my first time trying! We were really hungry after shopping at the San Marcos premium outlets and someone suggested here because they had lunch specials. I got the outback burger. Though it was a decent size, I only ate half because it was pretty salty. Combined with the sourness of pickles, and sweetness of ketchup, it was just an unappetizing mix (and I usually do eat burgers with ketchup and pickles). The steak with mashed potatoes is so small. It should not be a dish for adults. Maybe it would have been better to price it higher for a bigger portion. Pasta is ok. Oily. read more

We were in the area doing some shopping and wanted some steak and lobster. Service was quick to take our order and we were seated right away as well. The place wasn't packed which was nice. Our grand-baby was with us but he was knocked out lol after a long day at school. Even though he was sleeping on my lap the server made sure to ask if we are ordering anything for him and we did so he can eat later. We got steak, lobster tail, baked potato, rice and mashed potatoes. Both our orders tasted great and freshly made and cooked to perfection. We had no issues, enjoyed our meal and staff was friendly. Love me some Coconut Shrimp so that started off the meal. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. Sirloin and Bloomin Chicken - Sirloin cooked medium was on point. After shopping at the outlet stores, we wanted to get dinner and saw this spot right in the middle of the center! The drinks were solid! The complimentary bread is super soft and fluffy too. Delicious. Had the three course meal. Baked potato soup, bloomin burger, and chocolate cheesecake. We shared the koala punch and part of the reason why it was purchased was the koala. This particular review is for the San Marcos, Texas location: My wife tricked me into the truck under the lure of beer and dinner. Little did I know that she was heading for the outlet mall in San Marcos. Have you ever seen the old men sitting in the chairs at the mall and just staring at each other? I wasn't gonna be one of those guys. Once I realized her devious plan, I quickly hopped on Yelp! to construct a counter-assault. Outback Steakhouse sits dead center in this outdoor mall battleground, so it wasn't terribly hard to convince her to drop me off while she tactically cleared all of the stores on a door-to-door frontal assault. I sat at the bar (duh) and was quickly greeted by one of the Bartenders, Makenzie. Swamped already even prior to my arrival, she was directing her bar backs and other bartenders like a conductor trying to find the perfect balance between the brass and the woodwinds. Upon arrival of my wife, several hundred dollars later, I settled for the bone-in ribeye, cooked medium, with a loaded baked potato and brussel sprouts as the sides. The steak was not quite as thick as you'd expect for a bone-in, but was absolutely cooked to perfection. The loaded baked potato was horrible (think, cooked last week and re-heated), but the brussel sprouts...oh those sprouts! Be still my heart. Baked potato be damned, those sprouts made it for it. I took a photo, but only after I had massacred those things halfway. Apologies for sub-standard photography, but I was about seven beers in and didn't want to put down my fork. I also ordered a baked potato with butter only. For an entree, since you don't offer a hamburger steak, I had to settle for a hamburger patty. It wasn't very thick, but it was sufficient. Me and my family came here for my little brother's birthday, and I had never been here. I would first like to say, omg!! The food was amazing! Our server helped us get a few blooming onions by having us download the app, which was really sweet. He also gave my brother 2 scoops of ice cream for his birthday. The ambiance here is usually darker with spotlights and little bits of natural light. It is a louder environment and lots of people are usually moving through the restaurant. This visit I had the blooming onion, blooming fried chicken, a side of Brussels sprouts, and macaroni and cheese. I would say outback overall was a lot better from 2016-2018 but my experience here was still good. My waiter checked on me frequently and accommodated all of my needs. While the food is on the greasier side it is good. They use seasoning on everything which is a plus. I found the Brussels sprouts to be under cooked but they gave me a nice portion and the macaroni and cheese was amazing! They still serve the brown bread with butter and it's decent but not my favorite texture or flavor. If I did eat outback again I would have to dine in because I don't think takeout would uphold the same quality. Still, I'm unsure if i'll come back. Good food, and service but I don't think it matches the price and going out of my way to eat there. read more
