This was by far the worst restaurant visit ever. I reserved a table for 7 on January 7, 2026 for my mother's 92nd birthday. The salmon was severely undercooked despite twice sending it back. My fish was thin and slimy. The kid's Mac and cheese was so bland, no wonder she wouldn't eat it. The steak was tough and stringy. The service was horrendous as well. I finally stacked plates on another table so we could cut the cake. The restaurant was practically void of customers, maybe 4 other tables, and yet the service was nearly non-existent. An Oasis in the Park Located at The Lodge in Zions National Park is the Red Rock Grill. We planned to eat lunch there, with a nagging concern it would be so busy we would not be able to. When we did stop in after a hike, I was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant wasn't very busy, although there was a line of several families ahead of us waiting to get in. We learned the way it worked is you order and pay before you even sit down. Menus are displayed along the line, we had plenty of time to decide. Once we ordered we were given a number to display on our table. It was nice to sit down and get cold water. It still took about 25 minutes for my Zion Cheeseburger and Veggies to arrive after we sat down. Fortunately, our drinks were kept topped off while we waited. The burger turned out to be pretty good, and it was a good size. The veggies were three giant asparagus spears. Once we finished eating we could just leave, so that was kind of convenient. read more

Just so disappointing this trip. Okay, things change. It's been a few years since the Mrs & I stopped at the dining area in the lodge for a meal, but we were shocked to see the difference. As we approached the stairwell to the restaurant we saw a line of folks patiently waiting their turn & thought we arrived during a rush. Not the case. When it's your turn, you look at their menu, place your order & then go upstairs with a number placard in your hand. Place the placard on your table & (after a few minutes) someone brings out your meal & drinks. What happened to sitting at a table, relaxing & casually looking over a menu? At first we thought we'd eat on the patio, but noticed they removed the umbrellas & didn't want to sit in the full sun light. So we opted to stay indoors. We ordered the fish & chips. A bit different, the fish were rolled in Panko bread crumbs. Tasty but different. I didn't care for our food being served in a plastic basket & the small squeeze packets of tarter sauce, ketchup & mayonnaise. Nor did I like the plastic knife, fork & spoon sealed in a plastic envelope with a napkin & tiny packets of salt & pepper. Are we on a picnic? I'm surprised a National Park would allow that much impact on their local landfill. And at the price, I would've expected the usual silverware. To top it all off, we stopped to use the restrooms & found the women's closed. The Mrs had to go outside to the shuttle stop area to use the ladies room there. Dining inside Zion National Park! That itself is special. There are only two places to eat inside of the park. With that said the food could be much better. National parks are notorious for their lack of delicious food. The soup and salad bar is decent but everything else can be a disappointment. On our last trip we tried the Navajo taco which is always such a treat since it's rare to see on a menu but this one lacked in flavor and the dough is not made to order which is such a shame. Thankfully they make some decent cocktails to help with the subpar food. The views here are incredible, overlooking the park. There's also a deck that allows you to dine al fresco. If you're staying at the lodge it's well worth driving approx 15 mins outside the park to Springdale where there are many wonderful restaurants. Dear Zion Lodge management, please review your restaurant dishes and offer your guests tastier options. Decent spot for lunch when you're in the park. We enjoyed the salad bar and soup option. Plenty of options to pick from to make your own salad and 2 soups daily (1 vegan). The interior and ambiance is average - feels a little narrow and hallway like and not a grand dining hall like restaurants at national parks. The service is okay - there was some confusion between the servers on who has our table so there was a minor mixup. The service was a little slow. It also felt like our server was nicer and gave more attention to other guests and didn't come by our table frequently even though we were looking for a soda refill. The best news about this restaurant is it's location in Zion and the great views from the restaurant. It's an interesting concept as one orders and pays at a kiosk then gets a number that one puts on the table and a server brings the food. A couple in our group ordered burgers that they thought were "okay" and the fish & chips and hummus wrap were equally "okay." Not sure if they were shorthanded with staff or the folks trying to help weren't always responsive, but it took a while to get some help that our group requested. read more

Great service during COVID, the servers were so kind and attentive. The view of the large property was fabulous and at dinner time we saw turkeys and deer including several fawns. I ordered from the kids menu: pasta with butter and chicken and a green salad. The pasta was over done (end of the day) and swimming in pasta water. Red Rock Grill sits right in the Zion Lodge lobby - so super convenient if you don't feel like driving back out of the park into Springdale. Because of lingering COVID restrictions, it's not completely back to normal here yet. You have to order at the entrance kiosk, which doubles as the bar cashier, so don't be surprised if someone cuts in front of you to order a merlot. The service is also very slow because they are simply understaffed and overwhelmed so hopefully that will change to accommodate the masses that are due to flow through the rest of the summer. On more than one occasion, I also noticed incorrect drink orders and sloppy procedure (forgetting utensils, forgetting specific entree requests, not checking back). It is a restaurant in a national park after all, so keep that in mind. 35 min after getting seated, we did get our food.... Trout Anasazi A nice sized filet with a brown peppery semi-sweet rub and topped with pico de gallo. You can select two of the following three sides: garlic Yukon mashed potatoes, rice, or seasonal vegetables. The veggies are good - firmly cooked zucchini, squash and carrots. I probably wouldn't order the rice again just because it came with raisins or craisins which sorta ruins that side for me. Doesn't mix well with the trout either. Canyon Caesar salad Big portion - lots of leafy romaine lettuce but I felt, like many caesars, are overdressed - I did like the creamy and zesty dressing however, but wished it were on the side. Junior Cheeseburger Wholly regular here - didn't expect much anyway from a kids menu item. Patty overdone - not surprised though, you get what you pay for. Good filler if you're really hungry. There's an outdoor patio overlooking the main lawn area with unmatched views of the Zion skyline - temperatures permitting, it's a dreamy setup for an evening cocktail hangout and illustrates the remarkable potential if they could just better match the food and service. read more

Wonderful staff, beautiful view, and great prices for what you're getting. This is nice if you want more than a slice of pizza or sandwich from the little cafe downstairs at the Zion Lodge. Both have good price points, but you seem to get a little more service and opportunity to have a nice sit down meal for the same price! This is a great place to have a beer or cocktail after a hike. So we would eat breakfast and dinner here since we were staying at the Lodge. It is really a convenience play because really the food is just average. Don't get me wrong, it tasted great but I am not sure I would call this high quality food or a vast selection. But it got the job done and it was better than trying to drive into town. They do run specials every day. Sometimes they may be the same two days in a row depending on how much they made I suppose. Breakfast is a buffet only at least during our stay. Not sure if this changes in the peak summer time. They take reservations but it never seemed all that busy. Probably because the last shuttle down is at 7pm when we were there so the people eating at this restaurant had to be mostly people staying in the lodge. The service was always good. Location is what makes this place! Located upstairs in Zion Lodge with gorgeous views of the canyon. Nice spot to have lunch in between hikes. The cheeseburger was actually much better than we expected. The meat seemed cooked from frozen but it was still thick and juicy. The sweet potato fries came out hot and crispy. It was very satisfying after some serious hiking. *On a side note, the gift shop at Zion Lodge has better stuff than the gift shop at the Visitor Center. We stayed at Zion lodge on thanksgiving weekend and had dinner at this restaurant. It was a special menu which is thanksgiving buffet, my kids don't eat much so I thought buffet isn't a good idea, but I'm so grateful that they prepared such a nice thanksgiving dinner for all customers and working on holidays. Had dinner here after checking into the Lodge. The menu is limited but adequate. You order at a station and they bring it to your table. Service was fine. We ordered the chicken quesadilla and the cheeseburger. The burger was ok but the chicken quesadilla was really good. What makes the case for dining here is the view from the outside patio which is awesome. They had a prickly pear margarita which was delicious and a local IPA that was good too. We stayed in the Zion Lodge for 4 nights, and we ate at Red Rock Grill twice for dinners and once for a breakfast. In the middle of Nowhere at 6 pm, it was dark and there was no views from the windows, so didn't matter where we sat. But in the morning, seated by the window mattered very much because the view was spectacular. The service was very good and friendly. The breakfast was very disappointing, diluted coffee, diluted orange juice, no taste on eggs, very limited food selections. On the other hand, the dinner was decent. I ordered Mumm's sparkling wine and it was very good. Old fashioned cocktail was diluted. They offer small portions on every dishes, and I appreciated that very much. 1/4 seasoned roasted chicken was very good. I also had a half order of vegetarian pasta and it was also very good and plenty. Side order of Caesar salad was very disappointing and over priced. read more

We ordered: - Zion Cheeseburger - Sirloin Steak: That cranberry burgundy wine sauce was *chef's kiss*. The service was ok and we did not have to wait that long for food. The annoying thing was that even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait 10 minutes for our table. We dined at the Red Rock Grill two nights in a row while staying at the Zion National Park Lodge. The restaurant offers a decent enough variety of sandwiches, mains, salads and sides, however, we found our main entrees overcooked, dry and over-peppered. I had the Rainbow Trout on the first night with two sides - seasonable veggies and fruit. I also had a small Caesar salad. The trout tasted okay but was slightly overcooked. Fortunately it was served with a lemon bittersweet sauce which was tasty and helped compensate for the dryness of the fish. The veggies, fruit and salad were all okay. My wife had the herbed rubbed sirloin steak with red wine cream sauce. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, but the meat itself was tough. And the herbs rubbed into the steak and red wine cream sauce had way too much pepper. The sauce was more akin to a peppercorn cream sauce with red wine. Tasty, but not what we were expecting. Our daughter had a half-portion of the Southwest Chicken Alfredo. The portion was huge - especially for a half-portion - and was tasty. It was arguably the best main of the three we ordered. On the second night we all ordered the porterhouse cinnamon-apple porterhouse pork chop. When we ordered we specifically asked our waiter whether he had received any complaints of overcooked or dry meat. He assured us that their pork chops were juicy and never dry. Well, lucky us, all three were overcooked and dry. And the cinnamon-apple sauce (which one would expect to taste of cinnamon and apple) tasted like ground pepper. Apparently, the chef's favorite spice is pepper. Overall, aside from being conveniently located for those staying at the Zion National Park Lodge, the Res Rock Grill has little to recommend it. In fairness, the views are nice, the waitstaff friendly and efficient and the drinks - variety of cocktails, local UT craft beers, wines and spirits were all fine. It's the food where this place falls short of the mark. The chef seems prone to overcooking most items (well, everything we ordered) and over-seasoning everything with ground pepper. This is really unfortunate because if the food was just prepared properly (not overcooked or over-seasoned), this place would be a no brainer for anyone staying at the lodge. Unfortunately, given our experiences, we'd recommend people drive into nearby Springdale to seek out better fare. read more

We went upstairs not really knowing what to expect and observed a hostess type of stand where you placed your order and paid prior to selecting your table. We ordered two beers and an iced tea to drink along with some soup, fish and chips and a junior burger...the food was quite good and the atmosphere was as well, a table next to the window overlooking the large lawn area of the lodge...service was better than average as were the prices...definitely recommend and will return again next time we are in Zion.... read more

I'm not lying when I say that we were served a flattened, boneless chicken breast, that honestly looked and tasted like it had been boiled. We told the server that we ordered a "half chicken". She said with a straight face, "That IS a half chicken, it's just boneless". I said, "a half chicken would have a thigh, a leg, etc., even if it's 'boneless'." She said again, "That's a half a chicken." Varsity level gaslighting. The breakfast buffet had scorched "omelettes", bacon so thin and overcooked that it crumbled into pieces when picked up, dried out eggs and potatoes, and oatmeal like one might expect in jail. My reservation time was the same time they opened for lunch and thinking i had a reserved table, i didn't get into the line at 11:10 only to find out at check in with the "host" that they don't take reservations for lunch. Found this little gem on our recent trip. We stopped by after a late afternoon hike and had no expectation. It was the tail end of lunch. We were seated quickly by friendly staff. They were prompt and attentive. As for the food, the prices were really decent for the location plus the food selection was very good. I got the taco bar and salad bar combo for about $13. Others got burgers, pasta, and fish n chips. The food was tasty and servings was healthy. It was good for what it is being so remote. They had a good selection of beers too. My friends and I were spending Memorial Day weekend in Zion and ate at the Red Rock Grill for two lunches in a row having wanting to be served after son was long hikes. It is actually up the stairs to the right of the check in table on the first floor, across from the gift shop. One day we were seated immediately, but Sunday, we had to wait. But not long at least. Service both days were great. We came later in the afternoon and our waitress was hilarious in the fact of how candid she was with the dishes she didn't like! But it was great. She steered my friends and I to. Salmon Burger and two dishes of fish n chips with sweet potato fries plus cut lemons for our waters and my lemonade. One friend also got samplings of the Soups. The only complaint was that the regular fries were undercooked. The second day after our wait to be seated at lunchtime, the server was nice and attentive as well. This Time, a couple of us got the chicken salads, a friend got the half soup half Cesar salad and the fourth friend hit the quesadilla. No complaints and I definitely inhaled my salad: I love when chicken is pulled. My apple juice was delicious too! So if you want to relax in the Park, try the Red Rock. Great meal!! We were on trails all day, and ended up here because it was Memorial Day and we knew there wouldn't be many restaurants open. You order your food, pay, then get a ticket and grab a seat. We sat on the balcony, beautiful day, great view. Had cocktails, just a beer for me and a Dessert Daisy for my wife. They were both great. Since we hadn't really had a meal this day yet, I got a steak which was a shocking 20 dollars, I say that jokingly because food prices are very high in the area and this was pretty moderate, and it tasted AMAZING! Came with some type of berry sauce and it was incredible and cooked perfectly! Wife had some type of rosemary grilled chicken that she said was fantastic!! Great experience! We are up here for Thanksgiving and had their buffet. To start off the table cloths were dirty. We were in a make shift area. The food was not good.. well the first scoop of potatoes was. They ran out of turkey twice so finally we got done when we were ready to leave and it didn't even taste like turkey. The whole meal was terrible. You order on the first floor and go upstairs for open seating. Warning: if you sit outside, there are flies, but the views make up for it. I got the Grotto Chicken Sandwich: breaded chicken, ham, bleu cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, fries. Nothing like that first crunchy bite of chicken! Located at the Zion Lodge, this place is a great place to grab a bite to eat after hiking in the canyon. For lunch, they have a la carte options as well as an AYCE (all you can eat) soup and salad bar (and tacos!). They open at 11:30am for lunch, so we actually waited for them to open and were among the first seated. Service is pretty decent and we were glad to be able to dine inside in the AC as it was really hot outside! There is another dining option at Zion Lodge (a quick service restaurant), but there is no indoor seating and only outdoor patio seating. Not desirable in the triple digit heat, so very fortunate that Red Rock Grill was open! read more

Does a restaurant's view impact a review? In some places (like at The Shard in London), it makes you wish there was a SIXTH star. In other places (like the Space Needle), it may bump it up a star, pushing a A-OK restaurant into semi-excellence. Well, Red Rock Grill is more like the second one. First, let's talk ambiance and view. It's a mellow restaurant, great if you want a respite from whatever hullabaloo you may have experienced on a tour or getting to Zion National Park. Make sure to get a window seat (or, in the warm months, out on the patio) because, man... WHAT A VIEW! You'll see the beauty of Lady Mountain, Issac Peak, Mountain of the Sun, Twin Brothers, The East Temple ... or, in simpler terms, you'll see a whole bunch of beautiful red cliffs and canyons. Of course, we were hungry, and a view won't fill our bellies! I started with a very tasty French Onion Soup, with all the usual goodies ... including being topped with a blanket of gruyère cheese. BIG, sharable, the most filling FOS I've had in a long time. For the main meal, I had a Zion Cheeseburger. Essentially, it's their half-pound house burger. Well cooked, high-quality meat, a nice chunk of cheese. I wish I could speak to the optional guacamole and green chiles ... but THEY FORGOT TO PUT IT ON!!! And, I didn't see my waitress FOREVER so I said "the hell with it" and just want ahead and ate the simple, tasty burger. That and a good side salad that, thankfully, they didn't forget the dressing. After the main course, we shared an Irish Coffee. Unlike most drinks in Utah, this one came with a STRONG punch of Irish Whiskey (Jameson), along with a good mix of brown sugar and coffee, covered with a heaping dollop of whipped cream and a teaspoonful of green minty goodness on top. And then dessert. Their Brownie Bliss could be best described as a mountain, maybe a volcano, of thick and gooey brownie, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and walnuts. Thick, rich, excellent. Keep in mind, they have a fancy-pancy -- and VERY different -- dinner menu. I didn't see that side of the Red Rock Grill. While choices at the Zion National Park are few and far between, you most likely will be happy coming, seeing, and conquering the food at the Red Rock Grill! read more

I love the beauty of Zion, this restuarant allows you to see the sunrise on the gorgeous mountains with the large windows. The breakfast, chicken fried steak was almost as good as the view!
