Monte was great...my experience with these in the past included some raspberry jam which would have been a great addition (no jam to be found). A Sunday favorite for us...can be super busy at times and difficult to park but, once your seated its pretty cool. Visited Red Rocks Grill for the first time last night. Sign at the entrance said "seat yourself" but after sitting down at an empty table we were asked to move because the section was "closed off" (it clearly was not.) At first I was interested in the soup of the day, but upon ordering was told that they no longer had it (it was about 5:30pm...) and their alternative was chicken noodle. I continued to order something else. After about 40 minutes of waiting for our food, and having been out of water for a very long time, we considered leaving. Finally, the food came. Despite telling the waitress that we wanted a certain dipping sauce with the chicken strips, they asked what kind of sauce we wanted as she set the food down. We told her "honey mustard and ketchup" she came back with honey mustard and literally never brought ketchup. The entire time we were there, our water was never filled, despite employees walking around with water pitchers past our table often. The service was unbelievably awful, and the food was not the best either (very dry chicken, extremely greasy pretzel bites...) The restaurant seemed to be adequately staffed and not particularly busy, yet we were hardly waited on. If the food was any better, it still wouldn't be worth the awful service and complete waste of your time. Don't go there. read more

We ate here 10/19/14. I'm all for unique dining experiences and for eccentric people but we were greeted by a woman...that I believe may be the owner...who was trying to be funny by chastising us for wanting to sit a dirty table...which we didn't realize was dirty. She said she'd clean it. She did not, btw. Then we were told we were bitches but that was okay because she was too. No lie. This really didn't bother me that much but my friend was a bit put off. Then...the gnats. Still, I was willing to forgive this because the door was open (maybe not a good idea). Then, being highly allergic to cigarette smoke, I was very upset when the guy standing outside smoking was causing smoke to pour into the restaurant thanks to the breeze that was blowing. After what seemed like forever, they finally shut the door. Then the very exuberant woman was talking so loud that it made us cringe every time we could hear her and a few times we had to stop talking since we couldn't hear ourselves talking to one another over her. Kind of stressful. Food was okay, waiter was okay. The main reason I won't be going back..I think I have food poisoning. Later that night my stomach started cramping up horribly. This morning, my plans were ruined to go on a day trip (which I took the day off of work for) because my stomach was hurting so bad I was considering going to the emergency room. My friend who studied nursing told me it sounded like food poisoning so I've decided to ride it out. Never had pain like this before! Now, with reading other reviews, I am not surprised. I don't have a lot of problem with hole-in-the-wall type places as a general rule--sometimes they're the best restaurants you'll ever find, but I won't be recommending the Red Rocks Grill. Took my mom here today for a late birthday lunch and was very disappointed. Sticky tabletops, dusty decorations, and a musty smell. The taxidermy would be charming if they didn't have cobwebs hanging off of them. We had to find our own menus because there weren't enough on the table and had to ask for cutlery and napkins after our food had been brought to the table. The food was dismal. Mom had the BLT and was disappointed by it. It looked slapped together and anemic looking, made very messy with shredded lettuce, and altogether seemed lazy. The mayonnaise wasn't even spread across the bread. The only good thing about this was the sweet potato fries, which she admitted were good. I got the Mexican combo #4, two tacos and a bean and steak burrito. The meat was dry as a bone and completely unseasoned. Tacos had nothing in them but a bare sprinkling of cheese. The salsa and the green chili had almost no flavor and certainly no spice. Everything very dry and tasteless, and made me think it'd been in a freezer for about a week before it was served to me. Fantastic service! My boyfriend and i went for lunch and drinks before a concert at RedRocks ampitheatre and were pleasantly suprised. Portions were gigantic and the service was great. This is hands down the best restaurant on the front range. Tucked in the beautiful closest get away that is Morrison is the gem known as the Red Rocks Grill. Owned by a fire cracker comedian crazy puerto rican woman by the name of Ana De Jesus and her incredible team of employees. Clinton is second to non when it comes to service and taking care of anyone who comes through the door. Justin is a great bartender and very chatty, but beyond that he is genuine and you can see how much he cares about the people when he is behind the bar. Tyler is a goofy young man who I believe just got his degree in Biology focusing in botany, he is a knowledgeable guy that is a blast to talk too and his wolf man voice makes the ladies flock to him. Sierra is a wonderful waitress who not only looks great but takes care of her tables with ease. The rest of the staff is very attentive and always on top of what is going on. Now aside from the staff which is great and all what puts this place over the top is there food. The burgers are to die for, the green chili is gluten free and made in house and it is next level. The verde has a tomatillo base and it has just enough heat with a ton of flavor. I like it on just about everything. Breakfast is my favorite. Nothing like a 34 oz screwdriver and a meateater skillet with verde on top and tortillas to start a Saturday right. The dinners are great as well and I often stop by for a caveman salad and one of there delicious craft beers on tap on my way home. People love this place and they have great regulars at the bar all the time that are a hoot and always have something interesting to talk about. My Biggest complaint is that I don't walk in and see Spencer anymore. He was such a fun bartender. I know he has moved on but hey can we see him sometime behind the bar, maybe just a day! Meet a friend @ Red Rocks Grille once a month for lunch. Food is above average bar fare and they have one of our favorite beers on tap. That's the good news now for the not so good. Received my Visa statement the other day and was charged twice for the same meal on the same day. I stopped at RRG to inquire and talked to Miles (manager) and showed him the statement with the mistake. I did not expect a refund or credit back to my account, but simply wanted management to be aware of the error. Miles firmly explained that it was impossible for that error to happen and the only way to resolve it was to leave the original copy of the statement with him and he would talk to the owner but basically nothing could be done. Great lunch and atmosphere but our waitress was extremely rude to my sister and 15 month old nephew. The baby was yelping out quit a bit, like all babies do, and our waitress said that another customer complained about the noise And if my sister could quiet the baby down or if we could move outside or to a private room. My sister was extremely insulted with the rudeness of the waitress asking us to move. She was so upset that she left without eating. When the waitress brought us the bill she actually expected us to pay for the two meals that my sister ordered for herself and the baby. She didn't take it off the bill and we ended up having to pay for it, the manager was not there. Good food, neat restaurant, but not very well mannered waitress. I was so excited to take my girls to the grill for some burger that I swore used to be from fresh ground beef...I got side tracked with a good shrimp basket and my other daughter got chicken tenders with fries....My oldest got a burger that she seemed to enjoy but when she could eat no more I reached over to bite into a freezer burned patty....are you kidding me!!!! Doesn't the grill serve enough items with ground beef that it can used fresh ground beef for its burgers. First time I went to RRG We sat at the bar, had a couple cold ones and the Monte Cristo it was a pleasant experience Should have left it at that. Went back for Sunday Brunch, got cattled to the furthest table from the bar, kid took our drink order and a bossy woman came back to demand our ID's failing to tell us that at 1:00 mimosas go from being $1.50 to SIX dollars, things declined from there. We were rushed to order food (if we were going to eat breakfast food it had to be ordered immediately) We were charged gratuity on a table of 5 (two of which were children). Overcharged for a side of eggs ($4.95??) the total bill was $83 for a 45 minute stay. When asked to speak to a manager I was left waiting at the bar for ten minutes. Finally the rude, pushy and surly waitress presented herself as the manager also said her name was Electra (name of the bobcat on the wall). I'm sure the REAL manager was siting across the bar sneering and chuckling. I still rattled my complaint to the waitress (turned instant manager) knowing they would fall on deaf ears. As I was leaving, a young (waiter I presumed) yelled something rude at me. Only go to Red Rocks Grille if you want to overpay for mediocre food and AWFUL service. Ok, so I promised myself I was only going to write good reviews on Yelp but when you're a vegan eating with friends and family in a non-vegan establishment you really need to know these things. We ended up going here from a quick Google search for "Morrison Vegan".... Big mistake... We get in the restaurant and they have lots of large taxidermy game animals all over the walls... My toddler was TERRIFIED and we had to try a few tables before she was comfortable... I watched this happen again with a 3 or 4 year old also. The service felt like I was in the twilight zone... The waitress was absolutely clueless and couldn't answer basic menu questions. The place was pretty empty as it was a weekday but it somehow still took 45 minutes to get two hot entrees and a cold sandwich. Our food was just sitting under the lamps where I could see and the other waiter and "manager" we're just sitting there having a conversation. Finally The clueless waitress brought our food. The veggie burger was okay and my meat eating friends said their tamales were dry and cold in the middle... The club was good. However, we never got water refills or checked on... As we were leaving I asked what I thought was a bartender if they had a manager I could speak to and he said "yeah, suuup" I quickly realized that the manager was the problem with this place. read more

OH MY WORD! Who on earth would bring their friends here and feel good about it?? No. Way. We went in on Mother's Day (2014, 7 of us) and were seated right away (which should have been our first clue). We were sat in the back, at a flimsy table with a gross tablecloth that hadn't been cleaned from the previous customers. First thing we noticed was that we were directly across from the only bathroom available and I'm taking 10 feet away, people. There was no bathroom sign, so we had to guess at first that that's what it was, as my 3yo needed to use the bathroom. The only way you could assume it was a restroom, was because of the koala changing station sticker stuck to the door. Keep in mind, it is the only bathroom, so there was a fairly constant stream of customers coming through (not in itself a big deal), who would LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN AFTER THEY WERE DONE. GRRROOOOSSSSSSS. Nobody wants to look at a freaking PUBLIC TOILET while they EAT! Which yes, thats what we were left to see, I exaggerate not. Cannot tell you how many times we actually got up and shut the door ourselves. Last comment about the bathroom... they had run out of paper towels at one point and after they ran out; an employee used the restroom, came out after he was done, (yep, left the door open) and didn't bother to fill the towel dispenser for guests. Nor did it appear that he had his hands wet. Had they been properly washed? Even rinsed? Didn't appear to be. Seriously, disgusting. That was nearing the end of our meal, what were we gonna do. It gets better. my 5yo and I are gluten free. Not by choice, but because we get sick when we have gluten. They actually had items labeled gluten free on the menu! Awesome, not too many places do that yet! As we are ordering, I order the kids bean and cheese burrito (in a corn tortilla, bc that is their idea of good GF food apparently...) and order myself the tamales. Most everyone else got the monte cristo (which they said was pretty good, so theres a bonus... just hoping the guy who made them wasn't the guy who didn't wash his hands). In the middle of the ordering process, the waiter looks at me and says, "I need to make sure our shredded cheese that we use for the burritos and tamales (well.. anything that shredded cheese would go on. Say something a GF person might have to order, like salad, etc.) isn't coated in flour, I'm pretty sure it is". That is loosely quoted, but it's pretty much what he said. That's right. FLOUR. The thing that GF/CD people stay away from because depending on the severity of their intolerance, they can get sick, be hospitalized, etc. Apparently they use it to keep the cheese from sticking; and that "most places do that". Um I disagree, most places use potato starch but thats just my opinion. He checked, and came back with a resounding YES. Thy put FLOUR on the shredded cheese, that is USED on the items THEY, nobody else, but THEY label on the menu to be GLUTEN FREE!!! I said "you guys are going to make someone sick!" He agreed and said it needed to be worked on, YA THINK? We said just put a slice of cheese on the burrito and the tamales, it's fine. At this point, we are shaking our heads, wondering what else could happen. Then the waiter come back up to the table and asked how severe the GF issue is, because their TAMALES are deep fried. W. T. C. I said, "its not that bad that I can't have something fried every now and then, just bring the tamales". So, we get the food. My tamales are not fried, they were regular ol' tamales. we suspect he was talking about the chilie rellenos, which are not only deep fried but covered in a flour batter. Way to be knowledgeable. My 5yo didn't get any cheese, just a sad little corn tortilla filled with dry refried beans. Oh, wait... I almost forgot. A lady, definitely the manager or maybe even the owner for all I know, came into the area we were dining in, asked how everything was. We said fine. She proceeded to open their alcohol cabinet and then decided to tell us how bad she stunk (literally, she said "I stink!!") and that she "really needed to shower." Wait, what??? Did that REALLY just happen? I swear people. I have witnesses. So, if you don't care about sanitary conditions, eating with the effing toilet in your sight, if you are GF for whatever reason and you don't care that their GF items actually DO have gluten, and possibly a lot of it, if you don't care about the employees not being showered, then I say, go eat here! AS for me and my family, never, EVER again. I will say this, the bloody mary was decent. read more
