The burger was good. The French fries need to come out hotter when I order a meal to dine in and wait 10 minutes for the food to come. No excuse for cold fries. The ambiance is fine. Fun decor for a hamburger/hotdog/ice cream place. The counter service was good. The price is a little higher than I want to pay for the size of the burger. We were hungry and driving through town in the middle of a long road trip that started in Virginia. "Burgers" we saw, so we stopped. At the door was a sign that advertised "hot dog platter for $5.99", and then a second that said "cash only". It turned out that the $5.99 was really $15.99 ("the 1 is really thin" it was explained to us by some teenager who had obviously done this more than once). We had enough cash to cover 2 $5.99 hot dog platters, but not 2 $15.99 hot dog platters. It really became a humiliating experience ending with some of the junkiest junk food I've eaten in a long time. We paid an obscene sum for crappy food. On the plus side, it was clean and didn't look like a dump. But at 15 bucks for a couple plain hot dogs, they can probably afford a fresh coat of paint. What year is this anyway? When was the last time you set foot in a restaurant that didn't take credit cards? Does the IRS read Yelp reviews? A mile down the road was a McDonalds where the food was slightly better, and the service and prices were more predictable. I absolutely recommend against setting foot in the Brewster Red Rooster, cute rhyme notwithstanding. read more

Only got a milkshake but it was really good! The thing was a little thick but thats just preference. A classic diner themed place!

I came with a group of a dozen teenagers to play minigolf and get some snacks. It was perfect. Super clean and all the staff exceptionally friendly and efficient! They got the 12 of us served so quickly at the counter! ps I stole a fry from one of the kids and it did not disappoint! Plus, the weather was a little iffy and because I'd called ahead, Joe the manager even went the extra mile to check out when the best time to golf would be. And the kids had such a great time on the minigolf course, drizzle notwithstanding. Can't recommend this Brewster institution any more highly for a wholesome and fun experience. read more

Not sure if its a missed on a Monday but we got the 8 peice fried chicken and it was dried. The deluxe burger was good but I wouldn't call it deluxe. Its like a tiny cheeseburger with one lettuce and one slice of tomato. We also got the half and half onion rings and fries. The onion rings was the best as others mentioned. Everything else, skip. I didnt bother to get any shakes to try so this review is just on the food. read more

We've been coming here for a long time as a relaxed summer dinner option! A bit pricey for serving sizes and some food choices better than others. We like the chicken sandwiches and fries. Or the chicken wraps. The burgers are hit or miss for us. Ice cream is always a good choice ordering area is and always has been a little cramped. Great summer stop with mini golf next door! Small kiddie rides that may or may not be working (quarters needed!). We loved to bring our dog with us! Off of a busy road. You'll find the typical diner quality here. The ambience is retro. They only take cash, which I don't recall seeing a sign that said so. The cashier was friendly. The chili cheese fries were decent, though I wasn't a big fan of the flavor of the chili. The double cheeseburger deluxe was good. I would stop here vs going to the Burger King across the street, if I were passing by. read more

This place is a cute retro burger joint. They do serve chicken, wraps, soft serve ice cream and more. They are a welcoming environment for all and a great place to bring kids. Everything is clean & prepared well. The cheeseburger is in the style of a backyard cookout and the onion rings are the best I've had in a long time. My suggestion is to offer a smaller portion of onion & fries for less money. The small is really too big for one person. Other than that I definitely recommend the place. read more

Unfortunately we didn't get anything. We ordered and then she told us they don't take CC. I highly suggest you put on the doors that it's cash only. Very good and tasty food. Cant wait to come again. Staff was nice and we did get best burgers in state. Ambiance was excelent.

Heard good things about the place. Food is good, but just good. But $30 for a double cheeseburger and small fry for just "good" food is insane. To add to that, it took over 10 minutes to get it, there were 5 people in there. I also got the pleasant surprise of them telling me it's cash only. LOWER THE PRICES! From the outside, it looks like a fun establishment, inside it's an old school diner feel but food was just mediocre. The staff wasn't the most friendly or helpful when ordering, they were more busy chatting amongst themselves. Also the photos on the menu are a bit deceiving and you need to make sure to add the extras pictured because they don't come with the order. read more

Did I mention overpriced? On top of that, check your receipt! There's one woman who will over charge you on top of the already over charged food. Having a cash business is great, however when you focus more on the cash you're making rather than the quality of food you put out and the customer service that should go along with it, you become that place with all the negative comments. read more

A few months ago my family went to red rooster, we've been going there for over 30 years. I'm sad to say that is the last time I will ever step foot in that restaurant. We ordered over $100 worth of food and drinks. We got half of our food and, had to go up to the counter to ask for the other half, we were ignored and then finally after about 20 minutes we were able to let somebody know that we did not get the other half of our food or our drinks. The manager went over to the server who completed the rest of our food order and brought it to us and told us that she was finishing up our drinks. The drinks never came. My Husband asked the girl , if we could get our complete order, the manager started screaming at My Husband and threatening to break his finger and shove it up his @$$. Then he was rude to me and I responded to his verbal abuse and he came out from the counter and chased me down and threatened me and told me to get off his property and he was calling the cops on me. We still had not received the drinks from our order and this was going on for over 40 minutes and to top it all off the food was disgusting, the hotdogs were literally raw and the burgers are half the size they used to be. This place was much better when it was just a little tiny burger and ice cream shack I'll give it a -5 star rating and will never be back. read more

I really enjoy coming here. I think it is more for the nostalgia that keeps me coming back. Oh and the owner or at least I think he is the owner is super friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure your order is always done correctly. Last time we went they messed up but it's ok it happens and I know the food is worth going back for. The shakes are amazing and the burgers remind me of the old school drive in joints I went to as a kid. If you love chili and cheese fries then this is your place! They are some of the best I have had I just wish they served crinkle fries lol. The chili is really good a tad salty, but overall it's good! read more

Food: Burger was a thin, greasy piece of beef with a slice of cheese on a bun. You can definitely get better even at McDonald's or at your aunt's backyard BBQ this summer. For the price you'd think you'd get lettuce, tomato, pickles.. they didn't even put ketchup on it. You have to order fries separately, and it seems like we got the bottom of their bunch. They were all crumbs. Terrible. Previously we ordered a milkshake which was amazing. Seems like this whole restaurant is only worth their ice cream. Service: No greeting or instructions given. This was our first time there and so we didn't notice the signs indicating where to order. The staff continued with their routine and ignored the line of people waiting in line to order. The three of them gathered together opposite from us. A simple "please step over here to order" would've been helpful. The only way we realized that we were on the wrong side is because a man walked in after us and went straight to the register. He was attended to before the rest of us in line since he went to the right spot. That annoyed me a little. After we made our order, there was no "thank you" or direction given to where we should wait for our order or how long it would take. Ambiance: Lots of seating and I imagine outdoors would be nice. No one is cleaning tables after customers leave so some tables had crumbs and trash. I feel if you have experience coming, you learn the ropes and know what to do. But for a first timer, it's a very depressing experience and the food is not worth the experience. read more
