This is a very nostalgic restaurant. My husband has been eating here for more than 20 years. We went early on a Friday night. This place gets packed but we didn't have to wait and we were able to fit in the parking lot. The service here is excellent. They definitely have no shortage of wait staff which is nice to see. I am in love with the house salad. It is so delicious with the Parmesan cheese and dressing. They give you a huge bowl to share and three adults (two men) couldn't even finish it. My son devoured the bread that came with the salad. It was really good bread. The pizza was good too. My 8 yr old got a small thin crust with mushrooms and enjoyed it. The adults split a traditional style crust (thicker) with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and peppers. I said we should order a large and my husband laughed. Yes, the MGM Casino has multiple choices for eating on site, with everything from a steakhouse and a pizza counter to its South End Market with separate businesses offering choices of diner food, or Asian noodles, or wine & cheese, or gelato & espresso, or lobster rolls, or grilled meats and vegetables. But right outside on Main Street there is also a wide selection of restaurants within walking distance offering Italian, Mediterranean, German, Indian, Greek, Puerto Rican, Nuevo Latino, Korean and more. Certainly, we could have been more adventurous, but for this trip my wife was set on trying a place noted for its pizza. Red Rose Pizzeria is located across the street from MGM, run by a brother and sister serving pies, salads and other Neapolitan fare. Starting in 1963 as a 15-seat pizzeria it has expanded four times so that it now seats up to 400 diners beneath its chandelier adorned ceiling. But don't worry about dressing up, it's very casual. It also operates like a well oiled machine. I lost count of servers at about 15, and then there were all the bussers who swooped down on the tables as customers left, clearing and cleaning them, quickly followed by staff dedicated to place setting arrangements, and almost immediately followed by the host guiding the next set of waiting diners to their table. Our wait for a table on a Saturday at 4:45 without a reservation was projected to be only 15 minutes. We sauntered off to the bar with our buzzer notification device and ordered pints of Sierra Nevada IPA and Fat Tire Amber Ale ($5.75 each). Almost exactly 15 minutes later the buzzer went off. Pizzas come in four sizes - small (8 slices), medium (14 slices), large (20 slices), and party size (28 slices). I actually saw a party size pepperoni pizza at a table for six next to us, and it was a huge elliptical pie that still had leftovers being shared by the diners at that table. We decided we would try one of the Specialty Pizzas as an appetizer since they came in either 10" or 16" sizes. Our 10" Primavera ($12.99) had only 6 slices with broccoli, eggplant, black olives, ricotta cheese, herbs, and marinara sauce as toppings. The crust on our pizza did not show as much char along the edges as some that I saw served at other tables, but it was a very tasty dough with enough support to hold all those toppings without being overly thick. One note for the fussy pizza connoisseur, they do use cornmeal on the bottom. I don't want to overlook telling you how fresh and tasty the eggplant was on this pizza. We couldn't notice the flavor of the marinara however, since all the other flavors overpowered a thin layer of sauce. Because we were also ordering entrées, we were served a basket of fresh Italian bread. I don't know if they make it in-house, but initially I was not impressed. It seemed to lack flavor. We were also served tossed salads before our entrées arrived. The romaine was fresh and the only choice for dressing is Italian. And what a delicious dressing it is. Now was the time for the bread to take center stage - dipping it into the dressing and you could be persuaded to make a meal of bread and dressing. My wife ordered the Sausage Cacciatore ($18.99) with a side of penne. The penne were overcooked and the sausage was lacking in fennel flavor. The menu says they use fresh mushrooms but my wife believes they were canned mushrooms. My entrée was their Veal Parmigiana ($20.99). The veal was very tender, had a flavorful breading, and was nice and crispy where it was not covered with sauce. I will say that the amount of melted cheese on top was greater than I would have preferred. Once again, that Italian bread came out to take a final bow. Dipping it into my tomato sauce and I would have cleared the plate of sauce had I not been taking half of my entrée home. I do want to also point out a small glitch in that well oiled machine that I described above. Right after I took the first taste of my entrée, two servers came rushing to our table to tell me that the dinner in front of me was Chicken Parmigiana and not veal. They asked if I still wanted veal and I replied in the affirmative. Three or four minutes later the correct entrée arrived. read more

We had a group of 11 coworkers eat at Red Rose a few days ago. Food was excellent (as always) including my chicken parm sub and the shared salad bowls at the tables. We had Stephanie as our waitress. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and have been a customer at many restaurants for many more years. I have literally never seen such an amazing waitress as Stephanie. She was the most organized, fastest, most pleasant wait person I've remember at any restaurant. Red Rose was very busy and she had many tables but was still directing and mentoring other wait staff - definitely a leader of her peers. Before I left, I pulled her aside to let her known. At noon on a Wednesday the cavernous room is bustling with well-fed diners. We just wanted pizza, which was tasty -- so turned back the giant basket of bread and butter. Most tables featured pink lemonade, very festive. Noise level is high, which explains why we could hear folks at the next table. The pie came quickly and of course we took home a few slices. You can watch the kitchen cranking out pies and red sauce dishes. The bar area seemed quieter, would try it another time. I think this place deserves 3.5 stars but I will round down to a 3-star because this is strictly based on the pizza. We were a bit indecisive about which pizza to get so we got a 10" primavera and a small pizza with 1/2 mushroom and ham and 1/2 eggplant. The primavera pie had a lot of toppings, but we weren't too blown away. The olives were out of a can and the broccoli was probably frozen. The ricotta made for a nice addition and the crust was nice, but overall it was lacking some love. The eggplant on the small pizza also needed some love and was lacking a bit. The ham, however was absolutely delicious! It really made that other 1/2 shine, because there wasn't much to the mushrooms either. The service was AMAZING, and pushed up the rating a bit. Jillian really explained the menu well and was prompt with drinks and was always in the area. Why they didn't get 5-stars: The ingredients on the pizza need more love. If they seasoned some of the vegetables to taste like that ham, this place would be top-notch. The crusts are good, so the ingredients should follow. read more

This place has so many employees you think we could get "water". No didn't happen. 3 times a charm. No water. Ok She came to take the order 2 times while we asked she waited until the other guests had sat. No water. Omg ! Seriously. I ordered a 2 drinks one was wrong . We addressed this and it was not corrected water please. Nope. We finally got our order in. Wow salad looked like leftovers. Bread came 10 min after the salad. Half the party then got their entrees veal parmigiana . Ummm yeah sauce poured on wet pasta not cool. Veal chewy. The pizza then arrived.. still water please. We got one glass oh no really???! Pizza had potential but unfortunately was a soggy mess and had been burned something I'm guessing cornmeal or something ruined the taste This place is a don't go out of your way . They definitely were overstaffed . The attention to detail was gone. Customer service is a dp it yourself and watched the 20 extra staff show you that there's no managing the floor. We have been there several times and the food is always great..we always sit at the bar and the last two times over last three weeks service is poor at best...the last time today were quick on drinks and then we waited at least 20 mins for the young bar tender to stop socializing with customers and staff..I had to walk over and ask if we could order..three weeks earlier we waited 20 minutes and needed a local to ask the same bar tender to get us drinks..we then eventually ordered and it was forever to get the food...the food is so great thus will not discourage us from future visit but service at the bar needs to be equal for locals and those of us who travel a half hour to eat there. read more

I moved out of state and was visiting with my sisters for a family event and we stopped in. There is a dedicated parking lot behind it which is necessary being so close to the casino. We had the sampler app and split a small pizza. What can I say? So good. Nothing like a Red Rose pizza to make you home sick. It took a while to get a table, but this spot is super popular, so we weren't surprised. This spot is no frills. They have a bar but it really its a family spot. Families and friends gather here for some good food at reasonable prices. I wish I were closer to visit more often. read more

This is my first time here at this restaurant and it was okay. I came to really pick up a pizza and ended up having an an appetiser and a glass of wine at the bar. The appetiser we got The ladder sampler platter with calamari fried mozzarella and chicken tenders. Well all I can say the chicken tenders way too much batter and the food was extremely salty. The calamari was not good - don't order it. it wasn't rubbery but it is forgettable. The Mozzarella batter was too thick and I'm not sure if it was fresh or not. The wine that was recommended was actually very good. I ordered the pizza to go so we'll see what a nice quaint place that's near MGM and my brother recommended that I try it so I did not sure if I'll come back though. We stopped in for an early dinner on Juneteenth. I ordered the Italian Marinated Chicken Breast- with mushroom sauce and penne with marinara sauce dinner....It was one of the best meals I have ever been served. The place was not as busy around 5 pm- it is generally pretty packed for good reason and can be on the loud side, but the food makes it all worth while. Our waitress was prompt with taking our order and delivering bread and drinks. The food came out in no time at all. We have been there for pizza which Is always delicious and fun to watch thru the window if we happen to have a wait. The staff are courteous and work so fluidly with each other- in such a busy atmosphere- the door to the kitchen is always swinging! We drove down from Keene and it was every bit worth it. I look forward to coming back at least once a month. The prices are fair- the quality of the food is beyond compare and the staff are welcoming and tuned in to your every need, If I could give more stars- I sure would! read more

Place is usually great but we learn don't go on Sundays!! Turns out they are closed on Mondays and Tuesday so they run out of a lot of stuff. They don't bring bread unless u asked and then it only came out with 1 piece a person . Everything you would expect and want in an excellent Italian Family Restaurant. Comfortable place, colorful, hustle and bustle, people running around, glasses climking, latge ordrrs of food being served. This place had been around since the 60's and for good reason. They do it right! The meals are great. But the pizza? OMG. Perfect sauce, dough and cheese are used. Their pizzas are amazing and traditional. We make a Family tradition of having Family dinner there a few times a year instead of homemade Sunday sauce/gravy or whatever you say where you come from. Its all good try it! I give it 5 stars because for what it is, a Family Pizza and Italian restaurant they hit all the check boxes. Friendly service, affordable great food, setting etc. all the paisanos go.
