Poor management. Misleading business practices. Subpar food. The management over charges the customer and doesn't inform them of automatic gratuity that's added to the bill. Though they'll respond to your review with an ask to email them so that they can "resolve" the issue, it's all performative and a resolution is never reached. I will not be returning to this place nor do I encourage anyone to support this business. The lack of respect and courtesy towards the customer is astounding. All the burgers were small even got the buns from the kids meal burger to the Hawk and the bigger burger I forgot the name of .. the steak was seasoned very well .. greens tasted like can greens . My husband and I ordered dinner which consisted of Gumbo. We were anticipating so much more than what we received. We received in that "Gumbo" The tip end of the tinest crab leg imaginable, a sliver of shrimp and other items which tasted like this was a pot of re-reheated fare from days prior. For the amount spent on this dinner, we expected better. So i was introduce to this restuarant by a relative and the first time I patronized was on a Wednesday evening and as we were sitting there eating our delicious food ( braised short ribs and mashed potato and a side order of jerk mac and cheese, it was brought to our attention that they have karaoke on Wednesdays but we didn't place for that so we ate ordered some phenomenal drinks made by the bartender Summer and Daquan. This place and Server was so phenomenal we returned three days later for my cousin birthday and Oh Boy, Saturday nights are super fun, from the food to the DJ and guess what Daquan was our server once more. The Service was quick the food came out pronto and he kept the drinks coming. So because we were celebrating a birthday we ordered like three towers of the pineapple mango margarita, super delicious might I add. But it doesn't end there so after my family saw (via social media) how much of a great time we had they wanted to return on Saturday with a party of Twelve. We weren't as lucky this time to get our favorite server Daquan but we was happy to be back. So needless to say my husband and I returned that following a Tuesday for comedy night he said he just had to go see what the hype was all about and oh yes we will be returning he loved it as well. read more

Delicious! I've patronized this establishment previously when it was a smaller lounge on Sauk Trail. I always enjoyed it; and, I always look forward to stopping by for a cocktail when I'm home in Chicago. However, the restaurant is AMAZING! I went for a late lunch recently with friends. The service wasn't ideal. The food, however, was absolutely delicious OR as we say in the community. Despite the challenges with the service I was willing to give it another try. Two days later I returned with my family. This time, the service was good and the food was DELICIOUS!!! Lo was our server. She was great. Amongst us we had: Collard Greens - Short Rib Mac & Cheese Mini Crab Cakes Buffalo Mac & Cheese Short Rib Melt (think patty melt) Crab Mac & Cheese *I don't eat shellfish, but my dining companions all said the shellfish dishes were excellent. I ordered the same meal both days because if it ain't broke don't fix it and don't mess with perfection (Short Rib Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens). Redstar Restaurant is highly recommended. I'm not sure when I'll be home again, but I can tell you Redstar will get my money. Happily! I wish them loads of success! read more

It is a cool spot to hangout in the south suburbs. Went on Friday to celebrate a birthday. Pricing for food was reasonable. Drinks are okay. The crowd was nice but mostly women hanging with friends. The restrooms were small; only 2 stalls in women and 1 stall in the men restroom. The line for the ladies restroom gets extremely long from patrons getting sick and vomiting on floor and toilet. Cleaning crew is needed to keep restrooms clean. Waitress were okay/cool. DJ was also playing a diverse mix of songs for different decades but more R&B than anything. If you are in the area and want to have a cool place to go to then I would say check it out. read more

I visited Red Star for the 1st time yesterday May 4th. I will not be returning. The manager acted like she had an attitude from the moment we arrived. They tell you, you have 90 mins. To sit and eat and you can be asked to move. that wouldnt be a problem if it didn't take 15 mins for a waitress to take our order and it took some of us over an hour to receive our food. I ordered pork chops, mashed potatoes, and collard greens. Pork chops were very thin, and fried too hard. I couldn't eat them. Potatoes were instant potatoes from box. Green were good. On 11/13/2022 I came in again and service was bad . Wings but no place for the bones. The food is very good. Everything we've had from the menu is delicious. So far, the catfish sliders are my go to favorite. My husband is partial to the short rib sandwich. HOWEVER, I've deducted a point (thought about deducting 2 points) because it is SO LOUD in here! I like the music but it's wayyyyy too loud. You can't talk to anyone, you have to scream!
