    Strawberry spritz & bee's knees
    Regan D.

This restaurant was very nice inside and in a cute part of Providence! Super friendly staff & quick service. The drinks were very good, the strawberry spritz was a special. We got the steak frites, which are a staple, and a definite recommendation. The bolognese was also very good! The bread is sourdough. The calamari was good, however, there was not as much meat compared to the amount of peppers. The cookie pie was delicious. Definitely a must go!!

It has been a while since I had a dinner here. I am here with my friends. Great spot in Wayland Sq. Street parking is hard to find, but once inside, we were greeted with friendly staff and have us seated for our reservation. We started with some calamari and muscles. Our favorite is the classic fisherman's platter. This place has always been consistent in terms of service and food quality. This time was not exception. The atmosphere is pretty classy. A large dining area and the two bars - the main one and the smaller, more intimate one in the back. This is a place I would be happy to bring a date or my parents to have a great dinner.

We've been to Red Stripe once before for RI Food Fights #BestBurgerRI & it was my #1 burger that year. We've always wanted to go back & Providence Restaurant Week offered the perfect opportunity: $49.99 three-course dinner for two. We ordered an affordable bordeaux that paired nicely with both my steak & hubby's salmon. A little spicy with a fruity finish & a gorgeous ruby red color. You selected one of the six appetizers to share. When at Red Stripe, you gotta get the mussels! There are six different mussel options & on the recommendation of our server, we ordered the Mouclade: curry, garlic, shallots, white wine, finished with coconut milk. I need to go back to try the Poulette: parsley & chive, garlic, shallots, white wine, finished with cream. The crusty bread was perfect for dipping into the mussels broth. And yes, we drank the remaining broth from the bowl! I opted for the Steak Frites: 36-hour house-marinated 10oz grilled hanger steak topped with Chef's butter, over arugula, red onion, lemon vinaigrette & served with house frites. Everything about this dish was perfection! Steak was flavorful, frites were just the right amount of crispy outside & tender inside, surprise salad under the steak with a delicious lemon vinaigrette that cut through the richness of the meat. Hubby selected the Hot Honey Salmon: grilled salmon glazed with house-made hot honey, served with seasonal vegetables & citrus cilantro lime rice. It was a generous portion of salmon with a sweet glaze with a bit of spice. I didn't care for the seasonal veggies but the citrus in the rice was delicious. You selected one of two options for dessert: tiramisu or New York-style cheesecake. We were both pretty full by the time dessert came around so we weren't disappointed that the tiramisu was weirdly firm. I would have been much happier with a bowl of fresh strawberries & cream. Just sayin'. The food was great, server was delightful & the restaurant is gorgeous! NOM NOM NOM #YUM

The only thing keeping this from 5 stars in the SERVICE. Our waitress was slow and snarky, likely new. But WOW was the food good. As were the chefs and manager. Very kind people. Food got out FAST, even on such a busy night needing reservations. The dinner for 2 is an absolute bargain! The mussels cles in the red stripe style (we've never done a cream base before) was so perfect and delicious. We ended up asking for bread to finish it off! My lobster mac and cheese (special) was so perfect, especially with that added fry sauce from the mussels (def add fries for 2-3$) The salmons were a bit under seasoned, the non hot honey version was wayyy better. Very high quality food for fair prices, wonderful ambience. Left without leftovers

The drinks and food were very good! I had a pear cocktail that was very flavorful but not too strong. The truffle burger was very well cooked, and the huge side of truffle fries were delicious! My only complaint is that the mushroom that was on the burger was in one large piece and very chewy. I ended up taking it off of the burger, so it definitely lost a little something. My husband's schnitzel was well cooked and tasty too. The service was prompt but not overbearing at all. We waited a little long once we sat down but we were also tucked away in the corner in the back room. The drinks and food came pretty quickly. I was impressed with how reasonable the prices were too. Overall, a solid dinner option!

    Crispy Artichokes

I had come here before but for dinner. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday for lunch and it was a very good time. Street parking was okay, there were a couple spots close by and a lot more a half to one block or so away. We made reservations just in case and I am glad we did since it did start to get busy at around 2 pm. We were seated by the large windows, which I liked since it brought in a lot of natural light despite it being a rainy day. I tried their berry mocktail and it was delicious, but I wish they had crushed the mint to bring out more of that flavor. As a starter, we shared their crispy artichokes which were flavorful and paired well with the sauce provided. As my entrée, I ordered the truffle burger with fries. The burger patty was delicious, especially the patty since you could really taste the grilled flavor. The mushroom was good, but was a bit tough, so I had to bite a little harder to avoid pulling it all out in one bite. I wish the red onion was cooked a little more for a caramelized flavor, but it was a good topping nonetheless. The arugula and tomato were fresh, and the goat cheese gave it a creamy touch. The buns were perfectly crispy. I was also really excited for the fries since they're on the thinner side, a bit oily, crunchy, wobbly, and overall, a combination of all the things fries should be. The truffle flavor was great, I wish there was more just because I love truffle, and next time I will ask for some parmesan on top. Our waiter was kind and attentive. I'm also glad this place is open on a Monday --when some places aren't.

    Fisherman's Platter

I'm surprised to see this place has only 3.8 stars because the experience I had was nothing less than 5. It was my birthday and I wanted searched through Providence looking for scallops. I found Red Stripe and decided to reserve here and I'm glad I did. The restaurant itself is beautiful and in a lovely area of Providence. There's a small lot in the back and plenty of street parking. The staff immediately noted my birthday and did a great job making me feel special. I wish I had grabbed my waitress' name because she was excellent. We started with the crispy artichokes which were delicious. I had the fisherman's platter and there was an ample amount of food. The shrimp were colossal and easily my favorite of the three seafood options. My significant other had the schnitzel and has been talking about how good it was ever since. We then ended the night with a skillet cookie- complete with a candle! While I may not love the number I turned, Red Stripe helped me celebrate it in style. I highly recommend them!

    I love this place!

We started out with my husband's newfound favorite, the clam cakes. I appreciated the herbiness of the breadcrumbs they were fried in. My husband got the crab roll for his entree, and I did like the bite I was able to sneak of it. I really wanted the lobster roll but that $42 price tag turned me away quickly. Instead I got the fish and chips with pollock for my entree. I am always complaining about portion sizes. Not here, I was only able to finish around 1/3 of it. It is substantial! Not only was it a generous portion, but it was really nicely fried, and I loved the flaky salt on it. My one complaint is the sauces that you pay extra for. I got some piri-piri mayo and garlic aioli. Both of these were absolutely not worth it, grossly lacking in flavor. Don't waste your money on these and stick with ketchup. The staff was friendly, helpful, and as attentive as they could be from inside the food truck. The locale is super cute with a bunch of picnic tables out on a patio. The parking is super limited though so beware. Would definitely recommend!

I could have eaten three of them. We also had the crudo trio, oysters, smoked fish dip and lamb burger and everything was excellent. The smoked fish dip came with crisp nori chips that were a little intense on their own for me, but perfect with a big scoop of the creamy, smoky dip. Loved trying the three different crudos and every oyster was delicious. We sat at the bar with a great view of the whole place, great music and attentive service. The sauce and the tuna was so good we didn't leave a trace of anything on that silver platter. The Crudo was to die for! Fresh fish was amazing and the olive oil was so good it just brings it to the next level. We were were not hungry after these two dishes, but we had to try a dessert with the experience so far. We opted for the cinnamon bun ice cream sandwich. Although it was good, I expected better. The cinnamon bun was a bit dry. First of all, the restaurant itself is small but very cute, cozy, and full of lovely New England-y Sea-Themed decor. We were promptly seated and had our order taken for our drinks & food - I had heard good things about this place, so I got a decent amount of food items, including: Lobster Roll - Arguably the best lobster roll I've ever had so far in my life. The brioche bun for it was soooo fluffy, soft, and a perfect complement to the big, juicy chunks of lobster that were seasoned and buttered JUST right. Also came with hefty and well-seasoned fries. New England Clam Chowder - Came with salted pork and potatoes in addition to the quahog clams. It was deliciously creamy and soothing to slurp on and the chunks within were all so tender and a great contrast. Clam Cakes - Added them to the Clam Chowder order for an extra $8. Big, hefty, doughy balls that were perfectly fried outside and ooey gooey within. Fish & Chips - Big, hefty fish that was juicy & delicious with a great crunch on the outside! Similarly came with the 'chips', or the hefty, well-seasoned fries that the lobster roll also came with. Oh yeah, pardon me, forgetting to mention the drinks! We ordered the Briny Martini and the Harbor House Punch! The Martini was great for a stronger drink and the Punch was a nice cocktail for anyone preferring something sweeter and fruitier. When it came to the food, service, and dining experience...it couldn't have been better! Everything was incredibly delicious and definitely worth ordering. Atmosphere: cute outdoor seating area for summer nights. The inside has cool decor (including a…read morebathroom that apparently won an award??), but is very small and cramped. The upper 'porch' like area looks really fun, but the table we were seated at was so close to the other tables I was uncomfortable. I get that we're in a city, but I value my personal space and privacy and felt like the whole restaurant could hear my every word - ick. Service: our server seemed annoyed that I didn't want an alcoholic drink, and was not very helpful. Half of the menu is not in English (very chaotic how some portions are in English and others are not, it doesn't seem consistent), so we had some questions, such as "what does x taste like?" and the only response we got was "not too sweet"....okay, but what DOES it taste like? She spoke very fast and I couldn't understand her listing off the specials, even though she didn't really have an accent. She left partway through while we were there so I guess she was just at the end of her shift and checked out, but it was so offputting how rude and unhelpful she was. When our servers transitioned, we offered to cash out then since we weren't getting anything else and wanted the original server to get her tips, but she started joking around that we didn't have to do that - which I appreciate, but we actually did want to get going and get cashed out, but she refused to give us our check. I asked three times and she still wouldn't 'let us do that'...very weird. Food: there were not a ton of vegetarian options that appealed to me. I went a little overboard on plantains by accident, which is my mistake. I first ordered the Rellenitos with cilantro crema sauce, which were very good and a flavor combination I wasn't expecting. The dough to filling ratio was a little off and they were pretty dry inside, so I needed a lot of the sauce. An order only came with 2 and I wish it was more. I'm glad I ordered something else - Tula Fries, which came with the same exact cilantro creme sauce as the Rellenitos, even though they are described differently on the menu, which felt lazy to repeat a sauce. The sauce didn't go well with them at all in my opinion so I did not enjoy these as much as I would've liked. My friend enjoyed her drink, but thought almost all of the meat on her meat and cheese board was either low quality or close to going bad. It was priced reasonably, which we were shocked by, but she couldn't eat a good portion of it sadly. We did really enjoy the baked flava bean snack that was a part of it. The board weirdly came with just half of one small, half rotten strawberry that looked terrible - it would've been better to leave it off. Towards the end of the night, there was so much water on the floor in the hallway that goes to the bathroom and passes the kitchen - I had to walk through it to go to the bathroom, which felt like a safety hazard. My friend was on crutches and wouldn't even try to get over there since we knew she'd slip on all the water. It just looked terrible and was dangerous, so not sure what we going on that there was such a water issue there. Their specialties and more meat based dishes are probably great, but there just aren't a ton of things for me to eat here. I'd be willing to try it again for drinks and apps if the service wasn't so unwelcoming.
