Got takeout from here recently and was very happy with everything. I had the veggie dumplings and tre general tsos tofu. The dumplings were some of the best I've ever had. So flavorful and doughy! I really enjoyed the general tsos sauce. It had a great spicy and sweet flavor. My only complaint was I wish the tofu pieces would have been smaller. This would have made it less chewy and more similar to chicken. Still very good though! read more

I picked up food for Uber eats for delivery here and the inside looked really nice so I immediately wanted to try their food. The next day my cousin and I went here for lunch. I ordered the Hunan chicken, egg drop soup and cheese wontons. My cousin ordered sushi and a chicken egg roll. The food was phenomenal. Huge portions. The egg drop soup was probably the best I've ever had. My cousins egg roll was about the size of her head. First time ordering and it was better than I expected. I typically only order sushi from just sushi places, but because of the good reviews and convenience of the restaurant's location, I decided to try it here...along with the pad Thai. First, the sushi was excellent! I got a shrimp tempura roll and a Pittsburgh roll. Very fresh. I would order them both again. Second, the pad Thai left me underwhelmed. It is a large portion but kind of dry and heavy on what I think was a ginger flavor. I think it's just a personal preference that I didn't enjoy the flavor because someone else might love it. I was craving sushi and it also just so happened that this place had one of my favorite Chinese dishes: General tso tofu! I have a friend who always raves about Red Tea House so I said why not! I ordered shrimp tempura and the sunset roll, along with General tso tofu. The sushi: I enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll. I find that it's a roll that's hard to mess up. Standard taste and texture. The sunset roll was a little hard for me to eat because they slathered it in sauce and the texture was pretty slimy. I really couldn't finish that roll. The tofu: exactly how I like it but the tofu pieces were huge. I had to cut them in half to actually eat them. The fried rice was good. And the egg roll was huge but really good and crunchy. It's also a ton of food so I definitely have another meal! As a whole, it's basic Chinese food. The pluses: Nice and quiet and clean. Hostess was friendly. More expensive than Sesame Inn-poorer quality than food court. Entree only comes with white rice everything is extra. I will give them a point for honesty that they name it cheese wonton and not crab rangoon but there was barely a smear of that filling in the shell. I got Gen Tso as I use this a barometer when I go to a new place. Meat was hot and crispy, almost too well done and mainly crunchy ends and remanants. Pieces with substance had lots of tendon or sinew, ugh. The sauce was sadly one note: Greasy soy sauce. Awful! I should have known when there was no question about spice level. I have been here a couple of times and also tried some traditional dishes here. Super delicious! The sushi here is probably one of the best, if not the best I've had in Pittsburgh. Ordered the general tsos shrimp, vegetable lomein, hunan chicken. The lomein is excellent! Perfect amount of sauce and veggies, noodles were large. The shrimp has a little bit too much breading but the general Tsos sauce was delicious, and overall a fantastic dish. Having ordered from here once before i was very excited to try a different entree than before. Decided to uber eats this one. I appearantly ordered the Mongolian beef with 4/5s of the bowl fried onions lol. But seriously, chill with the onions. The beef was cooked decent but i feel a little longer on the pan could of made it better. The dragon roll was pretty good. Im a big sushi fan so this did the job in terms of competent takeout/delivery sushi. No complaints here I stumbled upon the chicken egg roll and it is AMAZING. Can taste the flavor of the chicken with a decent size portion in the pocket. Its easily the best egg roll i ever had. The last time i ordered i got the spring roll and it was pretty good so i sense a trend here. My meal before blew me away though. Last time i ordered the general tsos with white meat and it was perfect. Its right up there with ankor in quality and i reccomend it highly. This place is cozy and definitely makes you feel at home! We came here late on a Friday night to grab dinner. Although it was a bit empty, the people that were there felt comfortable as if they were at home. As soon as you sit, they serve you with tea and some crunchies for you to snack on. We ordered a hot and sour soup, half a duck, eggplant with chicken and a salmon roll for sushi. Our waitress messed up our order and gave us the salmon nigiri instead of the salmon maki. It wasn't a big deal but I preferred the maki. The food came out promptly after the sushi. I did enjoy the food but it wasn't anything that I was blown away by. The hot and sour soup was good especially with the crunchy wontons that they had given us at the beginning. The half duck was good too but I couldn't taste much of the sauce that it came with. So my first review of this place a few weeks ago was not good . We wanted to try again just to make sure we still felt the same. We did order different items on the menu but over all, we had a better experience. We ordered the general tso chicken and hunan crispy chicken. The food was well packed and hot this time. We also got hot and sour soup which was very good. The chicken was moist and decently flavorful. The portion was enough that I had enough for lunch the next day but my bf ate it all in one sitting. We got 1 big container of rice which i didn't like but we like each other enough to share. It wasn't the best we have had but it was pretty good. The favor of the Tso was not as sweet as like it l. I added some hot sauce to get to get it a lil more flavor. I think this time was way better than the fist time. They even delivered to us as well. It took about an hour to get everything so we will prob pick it all up next time to save time. We ordered via delivery, so I can't address restaurant ambiance. We are new to the area from CA, where great Chinese food without lots of sugar added is plentiful, and have been seeking a new go-to. This is not it. I ordered the General Tsao tofu, as it was one of the few vegetarian options with protein. It was described as "served in a tangy sauce " and marked spicy. Instead, it was sweet. It was also really dry and chewy on the outside, although the inside was moist still. There were literally two sauce drenched pieces of broccoli served with it ~ that was the vegetable?? We also ordered Lo Mein noodles ~ average, not much flavor, but okay. We ordered hot and sour soup sans mushrooms ~ I am allergic, which we stated on special instructions ~ and darned if it wasn't mushroom filled, so the service/attention to special order instructions is completely absent. My partner said it was decent, a bit spicy, which in my book is a good thing. We also ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which my mate enjoyed, although there was literally not a single chili pepper in the dish, and most of the veggies were just chopped celery. Stick to the Chinese food here and you won't be disappointed. The egg rolls are great and the portions are what you want when you want to curl up on the couch with takeout Chinese food. I can only give three stars though because tonight I decided to venture outside the Chinese food menu and it was a mistake. I ordered a California roll for my daughter which is a pretty easy roll to get right. It wasn't bad, but was not good either. The 'crab' was subpar even for imitation crab. I have not tried their real sushi so I hate to judge based on this roll alone. The chicken wings however were so unbelievably bad they knocked this place down quite a bit in my mind. I was hoping for a nice crispy wing with a little hot chili sauce. I knew as soon as I saw these I was in for it. They were drenched in a really sweet sauce, barely any heat at all, but the real crime was the wing it self. I'm not even sure that there was chicken on the wing. There was about 1/2 inch of really soggy breading (soaked in the sweet sauce) and then a bone. I tried two and could not eat any more. I asked everyone else to try them and they stoped after one bite. We sadly threw away the rest. So I hate to judge a place based on one thing, but when that thing is so incredibly bad, you want to make sure no one else makes the same mistake. Next time I'll stick to the garlic chicken. read more
