Ok, the SERVICE and atmosphere here is great. It's a cute little spot, and when we were there yesterday, Jill was an amazing sever. HOWEVER. The food. What on earth. My salad was half dead, and the peel and eat shrimp were SLIMY, clearly from the day before. I ordered the Pittsburgh Salad with Steak, and they forgot my fries? Glad Jill realized and fixed quickly. For many years this has definitely become one of myself and my friend's favorite places to dine. It is located on Washington's Landing with a large deck situated along and overlooking the Allegheny River and the Marina. In addition to being open to the public, those who either dock their boats there or use the waters can enjoy this amazing place. The staff, service and food are excellent! This was my first trip to Redfin Blues in several years. In the past I found there was always a wait for tables and the food was just okay. I'm glad to report that this visit was much better! We arrived around 1pm on a sunny Wednesday and to my surprise it was pretty packed for it being the middle of the week. We were still seated immediately. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband ordered the chicken sandwich. My fish tacos were very good and actually quite filling. My husband enjoyed his sandwich too. Staff were very friendly. The only wait we really encountered was waiting on the check to come. I did go inside to use the restroom and it was pretty run down. Could definitely use a face lift! My friend and I had reservations here but were taken much after our time however understandable. We sat near the edge by the river and it was great for an evening. The bugs outside were main downfall. They seem to have changing lights in eating area which sort of made the food look not as appetizing, could go without those. This night was probably short staffed so I don't blame the wait for food being really long after ordering but good to know to have extra time if may happen. To us, it was pretty difficult to even find the place and we circled around several times. We ordered appetizers of chicken wings, cocktail shrimp and buffalo chicken dip. All of the apps were very delicious! I had the crab cakes which came with zucchini and potatoes. The crab cakes were a bit disappointing as they were more breading than crab as well as very dry. I wouldn't order them again. Seeing others' crab legs walking by made me not order those as they seemed very skinny and overcooked (for a crazy $80). I think they should make it easier to locate the restaurant but I would go again and try a different entree. read more

After reading other reviews, I wasn't expecting much. We didn't have a long wait even with 8 of us sitting on the deck area on a nice Friday night. I ordered the mango mojito as my drink. I couldn't taste much mango but still tasted good. The buffalo shrimp were frozen out of a box like you'd get at Costco with hot sauce on them. Decent but nothing special. The battered fish was excellent! I'm kind of picky when it comes to fish and this hit the mark. Crunchy outside and soft inside. The garlic roasted herb potatos were the best side on the table. Our group also got the fries (frozen), coleslaw, and veggies but potatos were the standout one. Our waitress was very responsive and orders came out correctly. It is a little expensive for some frozen items but given the location, it is expected. I would come back to try the shrimp florentine. read more

Tl;dr - our party had a totally average time here - some highs, some lows. I'll likely come back someday, but only because of the beautiful patio. If this restaurant was situated elsewhere it wouldn't be worth the trip. The table we were seated at was nicely situated in the corner of the patio, which was good since the rest of the patio was absolutely packed and it was clear no social distancing was in place. Our server was maskless, as were many others. Getting on the waitlist was a pretty terrible experience. We got on the list around 6:30 and were told to estimate a table around 9pm. I checked the app periodically and watched my party move from 24th in line up to 8th line around 7:30, though the estimate still said 9pm. At 7:40, we were still listed as 8th in line, but suddenly we got a text that our table was ready. When we called to confirm with the host that the table was actually ready (since the app still said 8th in line) the person on the phone was really short with us and said "if you got the text, you need to come to the host stand". We made our way to the host stand by 7:50 and were told that we were late and it would be a few more minutes. The food was just fine. My salad was overly dressed but some other party members had dishes that they enjoyed. A total "meh" experience. read more

We absolutely love this spot. Nestled amongst the marina & a shady tree lined path, with views of the water, it feels like a little escape from all of the troubles of the world. Sit back & relax while sipping on something from their extensive list of summery cocktail options or, if it's busy when you arrive & you need to wait for a table, grab your drink & enjoy a stroll down the trail 'til they're ready for you. They're usually busy on nice weekends days and the service can be quite slow at times but as long as you go into your visit knowing that & not being in a hurry you're sure to have a great time. On our last visit I had the Pittsburgh Punch with @wiglewhiskey Bourbon & Strawberry Lemonade. Delish! I usually enjoy the lobster roll here, but they have tons of great options. They had a very little menu, a lot of my favorite dishes were no longer available, but I was optimistic with the (newer) items! We ordered a pitcher of the peach Bellini which was super yummy, the calamari which wasn't very good, very over cooked & chewy, but the sauce that comes with it was delicious! We also ordered the mahi mahi tacos & shrimp & mushroom flatbread, they both were pretty good! Finally a Cobb salad with some adjustments which were completely wrong the first time, and then when it came back you could tell they just moved stuff around because some of the unwanted items were still in there. Fish was probably good but overpowered by the mayonnaise dressing in the coleslaw. Outdoor seating would have been pleasant had we not been competing with lanternflies. There was no indoor seating. Not sure if it was unavailable or didn't exist. Server was trying hard who earned the two stars. Outside had a lot of bugs flying around which already sets the scene for not the best experience. The nachos were okay, but there wasn't a lot of chicken on them. Most of the disappointment came with our entrees. The steak was dry and even though the aioli on top was delicious, there were sauces running out which made it difficult to eat. The coconut shrimp was cold and the fries with it tasted like they were just frozen and thrown into the oven which isn't what you'd expect for the price. First positive ... they were immediately accommodating to our party of 10 including 2 babies. Thank you for that! Second positive ... our waitress was very nice and tried her best despite some problems. Now the bad: 1. my daughter didn't receive her meal until we were all done. It was a simple steak sandwich and fries. Why? Who knows? She was not charged however. 2. My jumbo fried shrimp dinner appeared to be small shrimp hammered as flat as possible, breaded and overly deep-fried. Basically no real meat to bite into. 3. Solid outdoor eating spot. This is one of these places that the location is great, food and drink ok but you are served a decent sized bill for just "solid." However you can't beat the location. However, big shout out to our waiter Rendan. I gave this place four stars because of him. He was on top of it despite it being crazy busy and people getting tired of the wait. It came with clams in the sauce, but it tasted very much like canned clams. All things considered, I would still come back for the experience and not so much for the food. Im kind of shocked reading through the reviews about how the service and food were standouts for many people. I'm inclined to believe people in this city don't know quality on either front if it's highly rated for both. First off, we walked down the pier to the restaurant and were greeted with a big sign that says "wait here until the host seats you". Ok, fine. About 10-15 feet away there were 4 people in uniforms just standing there chatting while we waited. Finally, one of these people acknowledged us and said: "yeah you guys can come over here to be seated"...like we were idiots for standing and waiting by the giant sign that says to stand there and wait. Not a great start. My wife has a dairy allergy, which being a seafood restaurant isn't a huge deal. The server couldn't have cared less. She wasn't helpful, didn't give any suggestions, was totally phoning it in the entire time. Meanwhile, the 4 "hosts" are just standing around talking. Why exactly do you need 4 hosts on a random Wednesday afternoon again? It honestly seemed like all of the service staff didn't care at all, actually. They all had a bizarre uninterested attitude and just spent a lot of time socializing with each other. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the price. Asked for sauce on side for some of the dishes, sauce came on the dish. Sauce inexplicably just doesn't come at all for entrees. Definitely better places for the price. Atmosphere was fine, but the service staff honestly brought it down. There were literally probably 15-20 front of house service staff just standing around on a Wednesday afternoon doing nothing.
