We decided to come here right before they closed for the season when the COVID numbers were declining at the end of summer. We placed a waitlist request through Yelp, and it took about 60-75 minutes to reach the top for a party of 5. Everything was outdoor and we caught a nice spot by the water. The view was very calming and it was nice to get some fresh air while having our dinner. The tables were a little bit more closer than I would have liked, but we came on a weekday close to closing, so most people was leaving when we arrived. They still had shared bottles of ketchup and seasoning in table, but I had my hand sanitizer ready and poured the ketchup for my son, to keep the germs down. The service was great. Staff was friendly and attentive and answered whatever questions we had about the menu. All staff wore masks and kept their distance. The food took a little while to come, but it was hot when it came and I thought it was fairly good. I had a lobster roll and it was pretty big. My husband had the crab cakes, but he wasn't pleased with the lack of seasoning. Overall, we had a good time and it was a nice to grab a bite out with family. read more

HORRIBLE!!! Service was not friendly. Food was marginal at best. The establishment refused to split our checks (party of 8 adults). As a result, we were relegated to verbally receive a tally of what was owed per credit card provided to our server to pay our tab. The amount we would owe was provided verbally with no itemized bill per check. Once all tabs were paid, the server returned to tell us that there was still nearly $50 owed with no explanation of what meals were still outstanding. It was absolutely horrible. Although there were 3 doctors in our party and several with masters degrees, we were treated as children in a very condescending manner. We payed the additional nearly $50 still with no explanation. I cannot prove that the color of our skin had anything to do with the manner in which we were treated. Absolutely horrible experience. We do not plan to return ever! read more

The food is honestly meh, but the atmosphere is great! I always feel like I'm on vacation when I come here because it's tucked away under a bridge and right on the water. It's also on a walking trail, so I like to take a stroll while I wait for a table. Oddly enough for a seafood restaurant, the very best thing on the menu is their wings. We always order those and they never disappoint. The actual seafood (salmon and/or Mahi Mahi) tastes like it was cooked before it was fully defrosted. The vegetable side is usually soggy squash and half decent potatoes. Don't order a mixed drink because they taste watery and won't even give you a buzz. Stick with the canned beers or seltzers. If you temper your expectations and find the few gems on the menu, this is a fun summer spot to chill at with friends for a couple hours. read more

We had a Miami Vice & the Strawberry Daiquiri both of which were delicious and then had the meat lovers pizza which was really good. The crust on the pizza was perfect! If you're looking for a spot with great outdoor seating in Pittsburgh, Redfin Blues is one of the best. It's right along the Allegheny River, next to the marina, on the super charming Herrs Island. I can't speak to much on the menu, because I found the one thing I really like and I haven't strayed from it yet. I always get the coconut shrimp salad and I switch out the dressing for the thai chili dressing. It's very good- shrimp is always very flavorful and the salad is a large portion. It hasn't disappointed me yet. Redfin Blues has a ton of drinks- wine, cocktails, and an ok beer selection. I typically get a good summer beer or a cocktail. Last time I visited, I got "the cleanse" and it was very good. Overall, a solid spot with a beautiful view. read more

I kept thinking what a squandered opportunity this place offers. It's a terrific location with a great view of the river and boasts a nice sized deck and patio area. The food and drinks are such a letdown though and the servers drag themselves around like we're doing them a favor being there. We tried the peel n eat shrimp which was more like a salt lick of tough, over cooked shrimp. The cleanse drink tasted like weak sugar water with a hint of cuke. The Bloody Mary was okay but totally Mrs T's or some other bottled brand with very little doctoring of flavor other than three olives, a thick slice of cuke, and some celery with a slice each of lemon and lime. $45 for this experience won't call us back anytime soon. read more

This was my first time visiting Redfin. The outdoor seating area was really nice. It was cool to watch the dock workers load and unload the boats as we ate our food. We went on a busy Sunday afternoon after going to the green phase and FINALLY being able to eat out again! After being told by the host that the wait would be over an hour, I was disappointed, but prepared to settle for fast food. Until... the host said that the tall barstool tables are first come first serve. He was so fast to get the table cleaned off for my husband and mother in law, and even brought over an extra chair. The food came quickly despite them being super busy. My salmon sandwich was great. My mother in law got one of the flatbreads and it was super tasty! Well ... I am Sooo disappointed! We returned here after having one of the best meals I've had in Pittsburgh in awhile. WHAT HAPPENED??? They crashed and burned! I think this is going to be one of those places that is kind of like hitting the lottery if you have a good meal. The only thing I can figure is the "A" Team had the night off! If McDonald's has proven one thing it is consistency is very important. One bad meal in today's world of Yelp and social media can jeopardize a lot of new business. So what happened? We had the Mahi Mahi and it came so over cooked it was like a piece of rubber. We returned that and decided to go with the salmon, which was very good last time here. So they brought the salmon ...RAW and stilled cold in the middle. They tried a second time and just past the bar for edible. We had the STUFFING CAKES they sold them as CRAB CAKES for $29.00 total disappointment. Bright spot here this night was the all you can eat Crab Legs for $59.95. And last but not least, and probably one of the reasons we will not be returning here any time soon is, after all this trouble not a visit from anyone including the manger (Brent?) Or something like that. Here's our tip for what it may be worth ...when you screw up that bad maybe you should go talk to your customer. I went to redfins this summer and I wasn't impressed at all. I was more disappointed than anything. I was there with my family and mistakenly didn't do endless crab legs. Instead, I ordered the crab cake and it was nasty. I don't know any other way to describe it. My family mediocrely enjoyed their food, we'll my uncle didn't and my aunt did, in fact, she really enjoyed her salmon. So that is a good thing. The service was a buzz kill, it took forever for the food in the first place and my server wasn't checking back regularly which is why I didn't really get to eat. I will give them 3 stars and next season try again. read more

My review is pretty similar to what I've already read. I'd give it a 9/10 for ambiance, 9/10 for service, 5/10 for food. We got a baked Mahi, which wasn't good at all, sent it back. I have been coming here for years. It is one of my mom and aunt's favorite restaurants. My aunt's health has declined over the last year and she is handicap and has a difficult time walking a long distance. I decided to bring them for Mother's Day lunch yesterday (5/14/23). Couple of items to be addressed, first the positives: -The food and our waitress were amazing and made a horrible experience at least bearable The negatives: I did not notice any handicap parking, at least nothing close to the restaurant. I asked if it would be possible to pull up to the entrance to drop my aunt off and then park. I was told no that it was a safety concern because of the boat ramps.....OKKK (mind you this was 11:15 am , we were one of the first groups there waiting for the restaurant to open). Next, we get up to ask for a table and requested to be seated in the riverfront dining. The dick of a manager with his lovely attitude told us because we had a party of 9 we could not sit there and had us sit in the patio seating (mind you an even further walk for my aunt!). There was absolutely no reason 3 chairs could not of been added to a table to make a REASONABLE MODIFICATION for a handicap customer! I would highly suggest Redfin look into the ADA laws! Let me give you some insight: The ADA also has specific requirements for businesses that are open to the public. For example, as a business, you must: Communicate with people with disabilities as effectively as you communicate with others. Make reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures where needed. To make sure that a person with a disability can access the businesses' goods or services. Allow service animals to be with their person even if you have a no pets policy. Follow specific standards for physical accessibility when building or altering a building or facility. Follow specific requirements for ticket sales and testing accommodations. Remove architectural barriers in buildings when it is readily achievable to do so. read more

Ambience -9/10 This is really nice place for a date or an occasion. Make sure that you go early and get your seats reserved because there is usually a wait time in this place . The seafood items such as fried shrimp and beer battered fish were really good . However the Margarita pizza could be better . Don't waste your time & money! Haven't been to this place in many years (at least 4 or 5) due to the very slow service & mediocre food. Well it hasn't changed in all those years!?? I think the only reason they stay in business is because they are along the river & it's a nice atmosphere. This time the waitress took forever to initially wait on us. Then once she did finally take our order anytime you needed something she kept forgetting it or never came around so you could ask her for it. My husband asked for a glass for his beer 3 times & I ended up getting it for him. The peel and eat shrimp was the worst shrimp we ever had. We couldn't eat it- wasted our money on that. One of our orders were completely wrong. Not sure why after all these years it's still all around bad- and unfortunately it costs much more!!! This part is not food related , but despite having a condensed atmosphere the river view seating was very nice to look out at. My parents ordered Bloody Mary's (spicy) and they really enjoyed them. Appetizers we got the Buffalo Chicken Dip and Calamari. The dip was salty , but nothing too bad about it. The Calamari was average nothing really special, I enjoyed the sauce though that was served on the side. My parents got the seafood trio and the fish tacos. The tacos had water dripping from the tortilla got soggy which ruined the whole dish, but the fish (cod) was good. The trio was mediocre not worth the price, dressing was not good. I got the chicken sandwich, it was very good. Juicy chicken, bacon wasn't super crispy though. The cheese seemed cheap which was impacting the flavor, but the beer bartered chicken was really good. Bottom of the bun was a little soggy, but not a huge deal. The fries were lame nothing too excited, but once again it's just fries so you can't really go wrong. Overall the Bloody Mary's and none seafood items are the way to go. Solid 2/5 , but it's a neat little spot. read more

I was wondering if it was even 100% lobster it seemed to have a filler, perhaps cod. The calamari should be taken off the menu period. So deeped fried with so much breading it was unrecognizable. Gross! Here is a photo of how thick the breading was, served with sweet n sour. Calamari is delicate should be lightly breaded!!! So over done and even had bits of old French fries mixed in. First thing, if you like eating by the water this is a great place! I didn't have too long of a wait about 30 mins. We sat outside and all the workers had masks on. Our food came out very fast. This included artichoke dip, the sausage and pepper flatbread, the lobster roll and the steak quesadillas! Everything was really good. The artichoke dip was tasty and hot, sausage was delicious on the flatbread and the quesadilla had plenty of steak inside. The only thing I would have suggested for the lobster roll was that the bun was toasted more. I ordered a white peach mojito that was pretty tasty to wash it down. Redfin Blues is one of the best places to enjoy dinner on the river in Pittsburgh. For as many rivers as we have here, it always shocks me how few restaurants there are on the water! I visited Redfin Blues on a Wednesday night with a party of 4. Prior to this visit, I had been there one time (which is the only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of two). We were told the wait would be about 45 minutes, but it was only about 20! While we were waiting, we grabbed a drink at the outdoor bar. I ordered the Miami Vice which was overly sweet and wasn't blended that well. I tried the Mule next which wasn't bad. Once we were seated, we found the service was extremely disappointing. First, it took some time for our waiter to come over to us. Once he stopped by, we ordered two appetizers and asked for five minutes to decide on our dinner order. The appetizers came out separately about five minutes apart from each other. Our waiter did not come back to ask us for our dinner orders until after we had been done with our appetizers for quite some time. When we put in our dinner order, the waiter did not take notes. We also put in an order for a round of drinks. After about 10 minutes we started to wonder where our drinks were. Shortly after, the waiter let us know that "the kitchen lost our tickets" and asked us what we wanted again. Five minutes later, our drinks finally came out! Unfortunately, my friend who ordered a rum and coke was given a manhattan. Once our food came, we weren't surprised that we had to wait again for our waiter to stop by and bring the checks and boxes. We were so disappointed by the lack of attention our server gave our table, but the food we ordered was all great! We shared the buffalo shrimp and shrimp nachos appetizers and thought both were good. The nachos were gigantic! It does get really busy, they don't take reservations but you're able to join the waitlist online before you arrive. We came for a graduation celebration with a crew of 16, hours in advance of our reservations, and OMG they were able to accommodate us! They couldn't have been more kind. The service was amazing and so was the food. The menu seems to have changed than what's posted. The homerun dish is the lobster roll. Amazing. Followed by the Salmon BLT ( sorry no pic), the Mahi tacos and the crab cake. Side veggies of zuchini and squash were delicious as were the potatoes and fries. Well seasoned. Let's be honest, people come here for the great location. Love the atmosphere here, it is right on the river with a large amount of outdoor seating. But that's pretty much all that redfin has going for them. Food is very subpar. I got a salad and I was left unsatisfied, sadly I could make a better one at home in five minutes. Yes I know it's a seafood place but my friends didn't enjoy their dishes as much as they would like either. They also stopped take out which is what we would do for nights out on the boat since you can dock there and grab food quickly. May be because of lack of staff, not sure.
