This was my first time, and I probably won't be back. We got the nachos, steak tacos and coconut shrimp dinner. Outside had a lot of bugs flying around which already sets the scene for not the best experience. The nachos were okay, but there wasn't a lot of chicken on them. Most of the disappointment came with our entrees. The steak was dry and even though the aioli on top was delicious, there were sauces running out which made it difficult to eat. The coconut shrimp was cold and the fries with it tasted like they were just frozen and thrown into the oven which isn't what you'd expect for the price. Wow! It was so nice sitting in a restaurant after such a long time of social distancing, isolation, and desperation. We visited this place yesterday. Four days after official announcement of green phase for Allegheny county. We sat in their beautiful outside dining area overlooking the river and enjoyed nice weather. First positive ... they were immediately accommodating to our party of 10 including 2 babies. Thank you for that! Second positive ... our waitress was very nice and tried her best despite some problems. Now the bad: 1. my daughter didn't receive her meal until we were all done. It was a simple steak sandwich and fries. Why? Who knows? She was not charged however. 2. My jumbo fried shrimp dinner appeared to be small shrimp hammered as flat as possible, breaded and overly deep-fried. Basically no real meat to bite into. 3. Mahi mahi tacos were swimming in the slaw mixture, drowning out the fish. 4. Peach Bellini tasted nothing like peach. Usually I'm dying to go back to my favorite restaurants. I was never impressed with their food but do absolutely love the atmosphere and location! They have free parking and is right by the trails. We ordered shrimp quesadillas and the mussel marinara. The quesadillas were a little burnt, but the flavors were still pretty good. The mussels were a bit on the salty side and not very fresh. It came with clams in the sauce, but it tasted very much like canned clams. All things considered, I would still come back for the experience and not so much for the food. Im kind of shocked reading through the reviews about how the service and food were standouts for many people. I'm inclined to believe people in this city don't know quality on either front if it's highly rated for both. First off, we walked down the pier to the restaurant and were greeted with a big sign that says "wait here until the host seats you". Ok, fine. About 10-15 feet away there were 4 people in uniforms just standing there chatting while we waited. Finally, one of these people acknowledged us and said: "yeah you guys can come over here to be seated"...like we were idiots for standing and waiting by the giant sign that says to stand there and wait. Not a great start. My wife has a dairy allergy, which being a seafood restaurant isn't a huge deal. The server couldn't have cared less. She wasn't helpful, didn't give any suggestions, was totally phoning it in the entire time. Meanwhile, the 4 "hosts" are just standing around talking. Why exactly do you need 4 hosts on a random Wednesday afternoon again? It honestly seemed like all of the service staff didn't care at all, actually. They all had a bizarre uninterested attitude and just spent a lot of time socializing with each other. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the price. Asked for sauce on side for some of the dishes, sauce came on the dish. Sauce inexplicably just doesn't come at all for entrees. Definitely better places for the price. Atmosphere was fine, but the service staff honestly brought it down. There were literally probably 15-20 front of house service staff just standing around on a Wednesday afternoon doing nothing. We decided to come here right before they closed for the season when the COVID numbers were declining at the end of summer. We placed a waitlist request through Yelp, and it took about 60-75 minutes to reach the top for a party of 5. Everything was outdoor and we caught a nice spot by the water. The view was very calming and it was nice to get some fresh air while having our dinner. The tables were a little bit more closer than I would have liked, but we came on a weekday close to closing, so most people was leaving when we arrived. They still had shared bottles of ketchup and seasoning in table, but I had my hand sanitizer ready and poured the ketchup for my son, to keep the germs down. The service was great. Staff was friendly and attentive and answered whatever questions we had about the menu. All staff wore masks and kept their distance. The food took a little while to come, but it was hot when it came and I thought it was fairly good. I had a lobster roll and it was pretty big. My husband had the crab cakes, but he wasn't pleased with the lack of seasoning. Overall, we had a good time and it was a nice to grab a bite out with family. read more

HORRIBLE!!! Service was not friendly. Food was marginal at best. The establishment refused to split our checks (party of 8 adults). As a result, we were relegated to verbally receive a tally of what was owed per credit card provided to our server to pay our tab. The amount we would owe was provided verbally with no itemized bill per check. Once all tabs were paid, the server returned to tell us that there was still nearly $50 owed with no explanation of what meals were still outstanding. It was absolutely horrible. Although there were 3 doctors in our party and several with masters degrees, we were treated as children in a very condescending manner. We payed the additional nearly $50 still with no explanation. It's also on a walking trail, so I like to take a stroll while I wait for a table. Oddly enough for a seafood restaurant, the very best thing on the menu is their wings. We always order those and they never disappoint. The actual seafood (salmon and/or Mahi Mahi) tastes like it was cooked before it was fully defrosted. The vegetable side is usually soggy squash and half decent potatoes. Don't order a mixed drink because they taste watery and won't even give you a buzz. Stick with the canned beers or seltzers. We had a Miami Vice & the Strawberry Daiquiri both of which were delicious and then had the meat lovers pizza which was really good. The crust on the pizza was perfect! The food and drinks are such a letdown though and the servers drag themselves around like we're doing them a favor being there. We tried the peel n eat shrimp which was more like a salt lick of tough, over cooked shrimp. The cleanse drink tasted like weak sugar water with a hint of cuke. The Bloody Mary was okay but totally Mrs T's or some other bottled brand with very little doctoring of flavor other than three olives, a thick slice of cuke, and some celery with a slice each of lemon and lime. $45 for this experience won't call us back anytime soon. read more

If you're looking for a spot with great outdoor seating in Pittsburgh, Redfin Blues is one of the best. It's right along the Allegheny River, next to the marina, on the super charming Herrs Island. I can't speak to much on the menu, because I found the one thing I really like and I haven't strayed from it yet. I always get the coconut shrimp salad and I switch out the dressing for the thai chili dressing. It's very good- shrimp is always very flavorful and the salad is a large portion. It hasn't disappointed me yet. Redfin Blues has a ton of drinks- wine, cocktails, and an ok beer selection. I typically get a good summer beer or a cocktail. Last time I visited, I got "the cleanse" and it was very good. Overall, a solid spot with a beautiful view. read more

Until... the host said that the tall barstool tables are first come first serve. He was so fast to get the table cleaned off for my husband and mother in law, and even brought over an extra chair. Well ... I am Sooo disappointed! We returned here after having one of the best meals I've had in Pittsburgh in awhile. WHAT HAPPENED??? They crashed and burned! Now I know why they only had (3) three stars ... I am now changing mine to (2) two stars. If it wasn't for the awesome services from Lauren it would have been a disgruntled (1) one star. I think this is going to be one of those places that is kind of like hitting the lottery if you have a good meal. The only thing I can figure is the "A" Team had the night off! If McDonald's has proven one thing it is consistency is very important. One bad meal in today's world of Yelp and social media can jeopardize a lot of new business. So what happened? We had the Mahi Mahi and it came so over cooked it was like a piece of rubber. We returned that and decided to go with the salmon, which was very good last time here. So they brought the salmon ...RAW and stilled cold in the middle. They tried a second time and just past the bar for edible. We had the STUFFING CAKES they sold them as CRAB CAKES for $29.00 total disappointment. Bright spot here this night was the all you can eat Crab Legs for $59.95. And last but not least, and probably one of the reasons we will not be returning here any time soon is, after all this trouble not a visit from anyone including the manger (Brent?) Or something like that. Here's our tip for what it may be worth ...when you screw up that bad maybe you should go talk to your customer. In the meantime, good luck to these guys hopefully they'll get their act straight, the environment and location are awesome ... Now they just need to figure out how to cook the food. read more

I went to redfins this summer and I wasn't impressed at all. I was more disappointed than anything. I was there with my family and mistakenly didn't do endless crab legs. Instead, I ordered the crab cake and it was nasty. I don't know any other way to describe it. My family mediocrely enjoyed their food, we'll my uncle didn't and my aunt did, in fact, she really enjoyed her salmon. So that is a good thing. The service was a buzz kill, it took forever for the food in the first place and my server wasn't checking back regularly which is why I didn't really get to eat. I will give them 3 stars and next season try again. read more

The seafood items such as fried shrimp and beer battered fish were really good . However the Margarita pizza could be better . I have been coming here for years. It is one of my mom and aunt's favorite restaurants. My aunt's health has declined over the last year and she is handicap and has a difficult time walking a long distance. I decided to bring them for Mother's Day lunch yesterday (5/14/23). Couple of items to be addressed, first the positives: -The food and our waitress were amazing and made a horrible experience at least bearable The negatives: I did not notice any handicap parking, at least nothing close to the restaurant. I asked if it would be possible to pull up to the entrance to drop my aunt off and then park. I was told no that it was a safety concern because of the boat ramps.....OKKK (mind you this was 11:15 am , we were one of the first groups there waiting for the restaurant to open). Next, we get up to ask for a table and requested to be seated in the riverfront dining. The dick of a manager with his lovely attitude told us because we had a party of 9 we could not sit there and had us sit in the patio seating (mind you an even further walk for my aunt!). There was absolutely no reason 3 chairs could not of been added to a table to make a REASONABLE MODIFICATION for a handicap customer! I would highly suggest Redfin look into the ADA laws! Let me give you some insight: The ADA also has specific requirements for businesses that are open to the public. For example, as a business, you must: Communicate with people with disabilities as effectively as you communicate with others. Make reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures where needed. To make sure that a person with a disability can access the businesses' goods or services. Allow service animals to be with their person even if you have a no pets policy. Follow specific standards for physical accessibility when building or altering a building or facility. Follow specific requirements for ticket sales and testing accommodations. Remove architectural barriers in buildings when it is readily achievable to do so. read more

This part is not food related , but despite having a condensed atmosphere the river view seating was very nice to look out at. My parents ordered Bloody Mary's (spicy) and they really enjoyed them. Appetizers we got the Buffalo Chicken Dip and Calamari. The dip was salty , but nothing too bad about it. The Calamari was average nothing really special, I enjoyed the sauce though that was served on the side. My parents got the seafood trio and the fish tacos. The tacos had water dripping from the tortilla got soggy which ruined the whole dish, but the fish (cod) was good. The trio was mediocre not worth the price, dressing was not good. I got the chicken sandwich, it was very good. Juicy chicken, bacon wasn't super crispy though. The cheese seemed cheap which was impacting the flavor, but the beer bartered chicken was really good. Bottom of the bun was a little soggy, but not a huge deal. The fries were lame nothing too excited, but once again it's just fries so you can't really go wrong. Then once she did finally take our order anytime you needed something she kept forgetting it or never came around so you could ask her for it. My husband asked for a glass for his beer 3 times & I ended up getting it for him. The peel and eat shrimp was the worst shrimp we ever had. We couldn't eat it- wasted our money on that. One of our orders were completely wrong. Not sure why after all these years it's still all around bad- and unfortunately it costs much more!!! One star for water front. It's sad because this location is amazing, the food is gross. Seafood waterfront restaurant should be better. Lobster roll could have been flavorful but the bun was so large and overwhelming it canceled out any lobster flavors. I was wondering if it was even 100% lobster it seemed to have a filler, perhaps cod. The calamari should be taken off the menu period. So deeped fried with so much breading it was unrecognizable. Gross! Here is a photo of how thick the breading was, served with sweet n sour. Calamari is delicate should be lightly breaded!!! So over done and even had bits of old French fries mixed in. We spent over $100 on drinks and a few apps, not worth it. Go for a view and order water! Lol read more

First thing, if you like eating by the water this is a great place! I didn't have too long of a wait about 30 mins. We sat outside and all the workers had masks on. Our food came out very fast. This included artichoke dip, the sausage and pepper flatbread, the lobster roll and the steak quesadillas! Everything was really good. The artichoke dip was tasty and hot, sausage was delicious on the flatbread and the quesadilla had plenty of steak inside. The only thing I would have suggested for the lobster roll was that the bun was toasted more. I ordered a white peach mojito that was pretty tasty to wash it down. They should definitely add fish and chips to the menu! Overall great place if you like to eat outdoors I'll for sure be back. read more
