Just a heads up that you should not tip at this restaurant when you order up front. You wait in line to order from a cashier, you get up and refill your own water, and if you leave any taco wrappers on the table when you leave, a staff member will tell you passive aggressively that "guys, there's a trash can over there." Basically this has the same service as a chipotle. So I guess tip if you tip at a chipotle. Five stars for food, one star off for not making it clear it's actually a fast food restaurant. read more

Food here is amazing. We've been here several times now and I love a good concept that actually pulls through. They did a good thing. Fresh tortillas and queso with a green chili burger? Soo good. Definitely worth checking out. The downside: it takes soooo long to even order. Double downside: you may have to wait outside, depending on the time of year/day you go, in the pouring rain, scorching heat or cold. I guess this creates exclusivity and crap but it makes it annoying for locals who just want to eat a good dinner. I feel like as such this may end up being more of a tourist place than a local hangout? But not sure. Check with me again in a year. This local spot it not only one of my favorite Mexican joints in Nashville, it's one of the best brunch spots in the world - transcending genres of food altogether. I'm sad to say I've been disappointed by RHS twice now. My husband and I tried RHS about 2 months ago and we tossed our experience up to it being brand new and thought we'd give it some time to find it's stride, but our second visit was just as disappointing as the first. Main issues: 1) It takes FOREVER. It's just tacos. Why does it take an hour? Literally one hour to get an order of tacos. 2) Disposable utensils and hot sauce containers. Why? You're eating in. It's wasteful. Get reusable utensils and hot sauce ramekins. 2) Everything is wrapped in aluminum-even when it's not to-go. This feels especially wasteful as well. 3) Tacos are soggy because of being wrapped in said aluminum and are not even hot but rather wet from steaming in the aluminum and luke warm by the time you get them. Which is even more frustrating considering it took an hour to get them and it feels like they were just sitting back in the kitchen. 4) They're barely filled. Either use more filling or make smaller tortillas. The proportions are way off. The only reason I didn't give RHS 1 star is because the decor is nice enough and the flavors are actually good, there's just not enough food. My husband ordered a "burrito" and it was the size of a well stuffed taco. We'll definitely be getting our tacos at Mas Tacos or other authentic local establishments from now on. RHS is such a disappointment especially considering one of the owners owns one of our FAVORITE restaurants in Nashville: Butcher & Bee. I don't understand what the disconnect is but I hope they figure it out. read more

Ooooooooh breakfast tacos!! The best kind of tacos in my opinion. My student alerted me to the opening of this place so I had to go check it out!! We showed up at 9am and the place had plenty of parking and just a few people inside. However, there was a marker outside for a line to form so I guess it can get busy. You order at the counter as soon as you walk in. The limited menu helps in this respect - plus you've been stalking it online anyway and already know what you want. And I wanted three tacos. They hand you a laminated paper with your name written on it and you put it on your table. Mine was in the shape of Texas. I loved it. Potato, Bacon, Egg, Cheddar - good crispy bacon, nice amount of cheese, potato seemed fried which I did not hate. Very good especially topped with more of the various hot sauces. Eggs, Chorizo, Sour Cream, Cheddar - Chorizo so good...add some hot sauce (jalapeno or dreamweaver) Chopped brisket, egg, American cheese, arbol hot sauce - also delicious. The tortillas were a special treat as they were slightly toasty and I could tell they were fresh. I wish there was some hotter hot sauce there but perhaps I just didn't find it. I also ordered an iced coffee and it tasted nice but the glass was so small and so full of ice that it was basically like an espresso shot in actual volume. Whomp whomp. Water is out so you can serve yourself. They also have Topo Chico which is something I always get. Basically, I miss breakfast tacos and we are getting closer and closer to having some that are like the ones in Texas. I will definitely be back for these. read more

Great first experience at RHS! There was a line outside, and a quirky sign informed us of our approximate wait. We moved quickly and were inside in no time. There was a cute outside seating area with umbrellas and fans, but today was hot and we had my toddler daughter with us so we opted for the AC. Once inside the interior was colorful and eclectic, very Austin-esque. The wall menu was simple with a few interesting items I'd like to explore next time (green chili burger, tatchos!). I opted for several of the tacos and a side of refried beans. We found a table and it took 15-20 minutes for the food to come out. We occupied ourselves by watching tortillas being prepared and observing the decor, which included a large stuffed giraffe that my daughter was super into. The tacos were delicious! My favorite was the barbacoa. Super flavorful and juicy. The pulled pork was also great. Actually, they were all great, even the simplest of the bunch...bean and cheese with Dr Pepper hot sauce! My daughter loved the refried beans, which appeared to have cheese and green chili mixed in. Yum! My friend and I also shared some tots with dill ranch for dipping, which was a hit. 3.5: Stopped in this morning to check this place out before heading out of Nashville to go home, and first impression was how cute it was inside! Really liked the vibe. We ordered 3 tacos(1,2,& 7) and 2 lattes to go for a total of $26. Overall, food was tasty but it was slow and a bit overpriced in our opinion. Barista didn't have much sense of urgency and let the espresso sit in cups getting cold while helping other customers. Eh. Shrug. It's fine. The decor is BEYOND cute and the staff is extremely nice. The food is as I said "fine". The queso doesn't come with chips which bums me out and they only give you two measly flour tortillas with it. All the tacos were made SO sloppy with the ingredients all to one side or a big hunk o beans on one end and all the cheese on the other. The tortillas for the tacos and burritos seem to be the same size so you end up with all this extra tortilla on your tacos. (maybe use them for your loose queso?) The wait for food is very long and the management is pretty unapologetic when we complained about it saying "yup it's taking us about 40-50 min to make tacos on the line" like it was a brag. This was a tough one to rate for me as things sat firmly in either the "average" or "excellent" category, which led to the 4 star rating. The tortillas are as fantastic as they say they are. Flour tortillas made daily, a little thicker than average and not quite perfect - which somehow made them even better. The flavors of the tacos are interesting and unique, but honestly just too many flavors. I was so excited to try the vegetarian tacos, and I would say #6 was the best. The green hot sauce was the best, although the habanero and curry was worth trying as it was pretty unique. The Dr. Pepper sauce tasted similar to a BBQ sauce. Woweee, wow, wow, wow! News of Red Headed Stranger opening got us in the car and over to this little book of East Nashville quickly. And the word is clearly already out, because on this - day two - the place was packed!! Parking was easy - we got a spot on the street right out front. A line started forming right outside just as we arrived for lunch at 11:30 am. Things moved quickly, though, so clearly they have their process worked out from a timing perspective. We ordered at the counter from a modest but excellent looking menu. Eight tacos, queso dip with optional mix-ins, a burger and a burrito. Daily specials will soon be available, but they weren't during this opening week rush. Likewise, the bar offerings appear vast, but the only thing they were pouring today were margaritas - tequila and mezcal variations. So we grabbed a marg, ordered some food and settled in at a communal table to await our meal. We each got two tacos and split an order of queso, and that was perfect. Of the several tacos we ordered, the brisket was our favorite! The pork green chili in the queso was excellent. And the tortilla game is on point - perfectly warm, toasty and chewy disks of love. The service was polite and easy going. The decor is minimalist chic. And the outside deck is begging for the weather to cool a tad so we can spend some serious time pondering the meaning of it all, complete with cocktails and queso! Very disappointing! Ordered two tacos - the #7 and #2. They put the absolute least amount of toppings that you can imagine. Maybe a a tablespoon? There was more grease than brisket and one or two tiny pieces of chorizo. Definitely zero F's given at RHS. Also, they over-charged me. That really chaps my hide! If you want great street tacos check out Tempo. They have amazing food and prices, and you can tell they give an F... They give ALL the F's. Or go to Mas Tacos if you need to stay in East nashville.. Watch out Nashville there is a new top taco contender in town. This place was just amazing. The food was so good and the tortillas are hands down the best in Nashville. So why 4 and not 5? I ordered the queso with chorizo (a big must at a place that says they are tex-mex) and it came with tortillas and not chips. Originally I thought it wouldn't be an issue but there was really no way to eat the chunky queso with a soft tortilla. If I had ordered it without chorizo maybe, but that's not what I did and it kinda made the dish worthless to order. I'd heard about this place from several friends so while in town decided to pop in. I'm so glad I did! Comfort food done really well! I tried several things on the menu. First, the Green Chili Cheeseburger...it was great. Soft bun, the meat had a great taste albeit a little over done to my liking, the bacon was superb, and the green Chili's were a tasty treat! The Spiced Tots were nice but the house made Ranch that came with them was excellent! The tots were, well, tots! A good seasoning, not to spicy and deep fried. The queso was a bit bland IMO but the great flavors from everything else probably drowned it out a bit. I did love the consistency and I'd bet most people add more flavor with one of the three fantastic house made sauces sitting on each table. The flour tortillas were what you'd expect from hot off the griddle. Browned perfectly and well made. But the Barbacoa taco....it was to die for. The fat that was in the meat before cooking had completely melted away leaving tender, melt in your mouth pulled steak...and seasoned perfectly! All of the staff was pleasant and kind. I appreciated that the most. I would have liked to have been checked in on a time or two. I ran completely out of tea about half way through the meal and wanted a to go lid for the queso but was never approached once the food was dropped. My waiter was super nice BTW, just very busy!
