Will not return. I ordered soup and sandwich and my daughter ordered spaghetti with sausage and peppers. We both received soup with our meal. The vegetable macaroni was literally macaroni water. Her spaghetti came out and the sauce was like water and the sausage was fatty fatty fatty boiled into it. One of the worst meals she has ever had. I played it safe and had a grilled cheese which was soaked with butter outside but still typical of diner food. French fries were great. I am to disappointed to stick my neck out for desert. I will never eat here again and would suggest you keep driving down the road. read more

The breakfast place to go in Rotterdam. Its reasonable, delicious and fresh. I'm a fan of the Redwood and have been going there for 20+years... A Rotterdam staple if there ever was one. I've been going there since I was 5 years old. Parents, assorted family members, siblings, friends, and now my woman have joined me to this place and it's truly great food at great prices. The meatloaf is better than anything homemade my dad or grandma could make. Breakfast is over the moon incredible. I would love to give this place 5 stars but the owner of the restaurant lingers around the place and stares at customers to the point where I feel awkward and it is hard for me to feel awkward as I have no shame. Just got back from Redwood Diner. A friend and I were going there at least once a week for breakfast and occasionally for lunch.Once in awhile we split breakfast and until today they never gave us a problem. There were only 3 customers when we got there. First of all the waitress took our order and not once did she come back to the table to offer us more coffee ($1.60 a cup). She brought the food and walked away. My friends bacon was over cooked, the home fries were tasteless. When we set our plates aside she came over with our check and asked if we wanted more coffee. By this time we were ready to leave. The total on the back of the check was $17.66. I checked the bill and saw that she had over charged us $2.00 for the omelet. When we said something to her she said it should only be .50 for us splitting and then took $1.00 off. When my friend mentioned that her bacon was over cooked the waitress got an attitude. She then called the owner over. He was very rude and said "splitting breakfast, I have bills to pay". Then he told us not to come back. I told him we wouldn't have come back anyway and he told us to get out. I am sure we can find a place with better food, nicer employees and a decent owner. Just a word of advice: If you go there don't expect good food or good service. Also, check your bill carefully. read more

Biggest waste of $50..out our 4 meals, my son was the only one who ate his $8 grilled cheese. The waitress came and took the 3 practically untouched meals, and I even told her the food was not good and that I was not happy about spending $12 on my daughters meal for her to just eat fries. She smiled and gave us the check. How do you screw up a buffalo chicken wrap? I will be calling the owner tomorrow and asking for a refund for the uneaten meals. WOW!!!! What a treat to eat at the Redwood Diner. I read the other reviews and I can't believe we ate at the same restaurant. From the moment we stepped from the car into the tantalizing smells in the parking lot till the time we drove away, I couldn't find anything to complain about! (and for me, that's pretty miraculous) I have nothing but great things to say: We were greeted promptly by a friendly hostess, seated immediately and our waitress arrived while the hostess was giving us our menus. (My only regret....I didn't get her name). The waitress was the most pleasant and competent that I have had in years! (Yes years - I used to waitress myself and I'm extremely critical). We didn't have to ask for anything.....new silverware was brought after my husbands was taken with his salad, grated cheese and red pepper delivered with our meals - just to name a couple of the "little" things. The timing of the courses was perfect. Not too quick, not to slow. She was friendly and talkative without being pushy or annoying. Now onto the food: My husband had the Lasagna special $11.95 (I think)and I had the Pasta Alfredo with grilled chicken and broccoli special ($13.95 if I remember correctly) . Soup AND salad came with both meals. We both had the homemade chicken and rice soup. Then a nice side salad with yummy blue cheese dressing. Both the main courses were nicely presented and were nice and hot. My husbands lasagna was definitely homemade with a nice thick sauce, plenty of meat and large enough to fill him up. My pasta Alfredo was the best I've ever had: the grilled chicken was tender with nice flavor and pasta cooked al dente with an awesome Alfredo sauce. We had to get dessert to go since we enjoyed our meals so much, neither of us had any room for the yummy looking sweets. So my husband had the homemade strawberry cheesecake and I had a coconut cream pie. We enjoyed the desserts later in our hotel room. Both were out of this world. My only regret is that I live 200 miles from here and will probably never get the chance to eat here again. Since we've been on vacation, we have had only so so meals. I grew up in the neighborhood behind Redwood and have eaten there much of my life, but over the years the food and service have deteriorated so much that I have finally decided I cannot even spend $6 on a lousy hotdog and cold french fries anymore. When you order a dog with meat sauce and mustard and get one smothered in onions--YUCK!! And ask for french fries well done and get them barely cooked--double YUCK! I got my order to go and walked back with the hot dog to just drop it off and tell them I will NEVER enter through their doors again. 2 waitresses were gabbing with customers and the third (who took and blew my order) was running around taking care of the half dozen customers in there (at 6pm). The old woman at the cash register kept telling the waitresses that my anger was alright and they could ignore me. I think not! I have lived here my entire life and watched Redwood being built. They are no longer competing with no one else for business. I highly recommend the Center Stage Deli next door, the Brown Bag down the street, and Play By Play 2 across from U-Haul. I come here 2-3 times a week with my husband and some times adult children. Have never complained or sent anything back even if there was a mistake. I have always tipped the server 25- 30%. I also come once a week with a friend for breakfast/ we split the breakfast which is always a cheese omelet. we have always been told that it's not a problem. Today apparently it was. We were over charged for our omelet. Bacon for myself was burnt to a crisp, ordered a normal well done not burnt. We were not offered any more coffee or service. there was hardly any cheese in the omelet. only a spoonful of home fries. when we were given the bill we said something to the waitress and she told us we should have come to find her. we and 1 other person were the only customers. The owner rang up our bill. He told us never to come back. he said to never come back, stood by over charging us. He told us he had bills to pay and that we were being charged for food that was unacceptable and little to no service because we split an omelet. He also used profane language to us. We were never rude to him and on told him. I would highly recommend that you do not go to this restaurant. If you receive good service and food you never know when the owner will snap at you. There is no 'the customer is always right" Please come to redwood if you enjoy 2nd hand smoke and bring your children. I went to dinner here on 9/6/2017 and arrived 6:32 pm. It was a Wednesday evening and not very busy. I was looking at the dinner specials when one was already removed,I tried ordering the stuffed peppers special to be told that was sold out. I then wanted the manacotti special but that was all gone also. Disappointing that 4 of the specials are gone before 7 pm. When I got my veggie soup I wad brought 2 small squished dinner rolls ( the brown and serve kind) and they were still doughy around the edges. The table behind me, with the same waitress was asked if they wanted dinner rolls or Italian bread with their soup but I wasn't given the option. I finally settled on the marinated chicken breast special. I liked that the chicken was in strips. However the peas ( not canned so that was good) wasn't even barely warm. It took several minutes just for the room temperature butter semi melt. The roasted potatoes was the best part of the meal. Then the table beside me with the same waitress, the gentleman had the exact thing I did and he was offered desert. He even asked if it came with it and was told yes. However, I wasn't even sdkrf if I would like desert! I have eaten here several times and sleayd gave issues with the veggies not being warm enough and the soup very bland. Obviously not everyone is given the same options . Normally the servers are awesome. However, I will stick to Bellvue Cafe and Annabelle's for now on. read more
