I started to go here recently since my stylist Bolivar move here. The place is always clean and friendly people. However, the main reason I started to go here because of my Barber. If you are looking for a professional and sexiest haircut, please ask for Bolivar. I have been known him for couple years since he was working at another location in El Cajon City. He's very knowledgeable and experiences for over 15 years. He takes his time to cut my hair and always on point. My friends and gf are always impressed after he gets my hair done. After moving to California last year I took my sons to multiple barbers before we finally landed on Refined Barbershop. Fades are on point. Vibe is chill and laid back but very warm and welcoming. This will be our number one spot from now on. Both Esteban and Rey gave the ample amount of time and effort for my sons fades. This barber shop is super friendly (more man geared). They offer beer and other drinks while you wait or get cut. I've gone here 3 times and 2/3 times have gotten what i wanted. The one time i asked for a medium fade and received a crazy high fade. While mistakes happen I will not hold it against the shop unless this happens again. I've been to a ton of shops in the city after my Last barber moved out of state. Finding a new barber, let alone a shop that you feel comfortable in is rough. The guys and gals at refined know their stuff. Every last one of them. Plus the vibe is perfect, cold beer, good convo. It feels like your just chillin with friends. And the cut is top notch. They've got my business for sure. I saw one of their barbers actually recover a customers hair who had a terrible cut that their mom tried to do for their sons prom. They saved that kids high school life, he walked out relieved and probably will never let his mom near his head again. Refined living up to the highest standard. The haircut was good, but the 2 barbers who were there were talking politics the whole time and mine was trying to talk to me about it, but it was about him not liking that NFL players were kneeling, and they were talking about some pro trump stuff as well. They didn't say anything overtly racist, but definitely would not have been speaking the way they were had there been a person of color in the room. I hold very very different beliefs, so I found it very awkward to be there. read more

Been here a couple times over the past several months and each time I wonder why I ever went anywhere else. I've had my hair cut by Martha and the owner and both times were a pleasure. Martha actually had to undo some of the haircut mistakes I had gotten at other places and she did a great job. Highly recommended barber shop in Santee/El Cajon area. I just had a fantastic haircut from Estaban at Refined Barbershop. I'm visiting El Cajon from out of state and hadn't been able to get trimmed before flying in. My hair was a mess. Estaban spent the time to deal with my special needs: my hair is very thick so I always need to have it thinned out, and my cowlick is rarely tamed. He left me looking as good or better than my regular barber. Estaban took his time with my hair, but I wasn't bored. We carried on a great conversation, including the other barber on duty, talking about my home state, craft beer, and the sad fate of sports teams in San Diego. lt was also super easy to get an appointment. When you call to make an appointment there is confusion about who is available and they tell you to just come in. If you show up as a walk in they cant take you because they close at 4 and no one seems interested in helping. What service business closes at 4 on a Saturday? I guess come to this place if you can schedule your Saturday around getting a hair cut. read more

First time coming here. This place has a great atmosphere--very laid-back and comfortable, but still professional. Rock music playing in the background, clean shop, tastefully decorated, a guy just sitting playing Xbox on one of the TV's. All the employees seemed happy, relaxed, and interacted well with each other and with the customers. Great customer service too; they really make you feel relaxed and well taken care of when you come here. I got my haircut from the owner of the shop, Rich. He seemed like a genuine and straightforward guy. He also gives great haircuts. My hair is extremely curly, which makes finding someone who can cut it evenly, and style it well extremely difficult. Which is why I actually haven't gotten a professional haircut in almost four years. I have gotten my head professionally shaved a few times in the last year though, so I know what I like, and what I don't like from a barbershop. I really like this place. My hair was getting too long again, and this time, my wife convinced me to try getting a professional haircut again instead of just buzzing it or shaving it myself --I'm very glad I listened to her (not the first time I've said that). I basically just gave Rich freedom to cut it and style it how he thought it would look best. He did so, and I'm extremely pleased with the results. It didn't take too long, but I also didn't feel like he was rushing. We stood around and just talked for a few minutes afterward, which was great. Prices are very fair, and beard trimming comes with the haircut. I will be returning here for all future haircuts. read more

Glad my daughter told me about this place where my grandson only allows Stephanie to cut his hair when she was at a previous shop and now at Refined. Based on my daughter's recommendation, I decided to have Steph cut my hair and beard (The Works) and was it the best decision ever. Been back several times for The Works each time. Steph handles the clippers and scissors like a pro especially the straight razor! I'm retired military and always a patron at the military base barbers for the low price. The adage that "a haircut is a haircut" is definitely not true when Steph is on top of it. She distinctly knows what she's doing and what I want with exceptional results. She is worth every dollar.
