The food is pretty solid, not exceptional, but worth a try It's been decades since we ate at Joe's, probably because the last time we were there, we weren't impressed. Well, they have new owners, so my wife and I decided to try again. The food is much better, it's solid, good portions, and very reasonably priced compared to other Restaurants serving some of the same dishes (more later). For example, I tried the Friday special of Fish and Chips. The fish was nice, not fishy tasting, not greasy, with a nice, if somewhat bland, batter. The same dish at, say, Rowley's is superior and costs at least $10 more. So yeah, you can get better F&C's, but this version was pretty good. The chips (fries) had the skin on (great!), not overly salty, and tasty enough to eat without ketchup, my standard of a good fry. It came with a very nice Hawawin cole slaw, the kind with bits of pineapple. Nice. My wife had the special of the day, which was a BBQ plate. I know, a diner for BBQ? It was actually quite good, and better than many of the Restaurants that serve BBQ (I'm talking about you, Texas Roadhouse, with your 'award-winning ribs'). The plate came with ribs, brisket, and a sausage. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, albeit a bit dry; they needed the nice, if slightly too sweet, BBQ sauce. The brisket was much better; tender and juicy. But the sausage was excellent! I think they are made in-house. The seasoning's flavor profile was excellent. It also came with the nice cole slaw and decent pickled red onions. Also, a rather large, unnecessary, and flavorless slice of thick "Texas toast". Joe, you can this item from the dish, it's not needed nor tasty. Our server, David L, was excellent in all respects. We went early on a Friday, around 5:30 PM, and there were plenty of tables, but by 6:15 the main dining area was getting pretty full. There's a nice and large back room with a full bar. The new owners have upped their game at Joe's dinner (and pizza, which we didn't try in Santa Fe, a town that struggles with this dish). I recommend you give it a try. It isn't going to blow you away, at least we were not blown away, but the food was solid, the menu has something for virtually everyone, and the service was great. Lots of parking, good location for a meal on the 'south side'. Give it a try. read more

We decided to dine-in and checkout the new menu. So glad we did. My husband tried the lamb chops. I managed to sneak a tiny sliver off one, and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender and seasoned to perfection. The sides were mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Both were delicious. I opted for the chicken cordon bleu and it was absolutely delightful and accompanied by the same two sides. Delish. The dessert carousel in the entry was just too tempting to pass up. We each tried the cheesecakes they were offering that evening; Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake and the Chocolate Chip Coffee Cheesecake. Creamy, decadent, and perfect with a cup of coffee. That all happed last Friday. We returned this Friday and selected two more entrees to try off the new menu. I had the grilled salmon...it was perfection! My husband ordered the lemon garlic shrimp from the pastas section. He loved it. I was the only one that had dessert. No cheesecakes were in the carousel this time. But I thoroughly enjoyed a piece of pumpkin cream pie. It was light, fluffy, and not super sweet, like a traditional pumpkin pie can be sometimes. In addition to an updated menu, the interior of Joe's has been spiffed up. Very nice. We had the same server both nights, and she was helpful and very charming. Wanted to love this place. It's close to home and local. But my experience the food has been average. The pizza has a flavor that I don't care for, and the last time I was there I order a crispy chicken sandwich. It was horrible. Thin, and tough. Very disappointing. read more

Always great food with a never ending variety of choices made fresh daily. I had the special of the day. Every day is different. What I recall the most was the Bourbon Pecan Apricot pie. Yummmmm! The staff is amazing. There when you need them but also not a bother if you want to chat with your friends while perusing the menu. read more

We were excited to try Joe's when we learned it had new management and was leaning more into the pizza. We had an awesome experience last Friday - staff was super friendly, pizzas were delicious and huge (thin NY style), great local beer, and even some Bush Glycerine and No Doubt on the radio; a very cool and comfortable place to hang out on a Friday night. I'm sure all the food is great, but we hope they lean more into the pizza side of the restaurant, we are in a pizza desert on this side of town. read more

The atmosphere is cold and sterile; the wait staff is never very busy when I'm there but also, never around when I need them. Never do I see young people dining there. It just feels off. I heard about the fried chicken at Joe's on a radio ad., so we went for lunch. We arrived around 1:30 and there were lots of seniors there, some who needed hygiene badly. We waited to get seated, then once seated we kept getting overcome with the urine smell, admittedly not the restaurant's fault, so we asked to move and were told it was Ok. The food? Well, I remember what cafeteria food tastes like and this food was exactly like that - the mashed potatoes were chunky, dry and had that school cafeteria taste. The corn was cold, served separately in a small bowl. Had it been even warm, it might have been edible. The fried chicken was terrible, breaded too thick with an underlying taste of cumin, which is not an ingredient I recognize in fried chicken. Worse, half way through lunch a different waitress came over to scold us for moving. She said "You moved without asking, please don't do it again." We told her we had asked and it was Ok with our original waitress. She didn't accept that answer, like she didn't believe us. After eating the biscuit (the only really edible thing) and half of the rest of the meal, we paid over $40 and left, never to return again. When we dine out, we expect better than this! We want good, hot food and friendly wait staff. This place has neither. We will not be back. read more

I found the experience of dining at Joe's in April 2026 to be excellent. I ordered the Fettuccine Trifolati, described on the menu as "trio of portobello, shiitake & oyster mushrooms in a cream sauce with parmigiano reggiano cheese." At $18, this was a great value. The portion was generous, the pasta was perfectly cooked; the sauce was excellent; and the mushrooms were very flavorful. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommended! read more

I loved Joes. It was comfortable, familiar and stable. Something has changed. I went in knowing I'd get great food in a comfy atmosphere. The seating was different but, no big- things shift. I decided to get shrimp scampi as I know if they do anything well it is their Italian dishes. It was not norm. The shrimp was dry- ( in scampi???) and the pile of over cooked pasta was laden with pepper flakes to make up for the lack of garlic & butter in the dish. Not to mention: where was the cheese the menu touted? It was no bueno. I ate the shrimp (as I payed for it) and left the pile of pasta and chile flakes as was. I did order desert- which was delightful. Strawberry cake- one of my favorites there- but the bus person kept trying to take it away. Every time I put my fork down. "Are you finished with this??" I finally snapped at her NO. It was ridiculous. I may go in again- just to make sure it wasn't an off night. But diner beware... it seems to be different. RIP Joes. read more

I love Joe's. The lattes and coffee are yummy. I discovered my love for breakfast enchiladas in NM, and Joes' were great. I love the look and feel of the place too, plus it's huge. Friendly staff to us and what seems to be a good crowd of regulars. It's a nice spot!!! read more

Unfortunately, I just had a very unpleasant experience at Joe's diner. I ordered a green salad with chicken added. The chicken was unrecognizable stringy dried and brown. It was really disgusting and I could only take a few bites. I hope that I don't get sick with food poisoning. We will never be returning there. read more

What an awful experience after eating here for many years. We were told when we called to ask about choices that the items we ordered were from the new menu...and the waitress confirmed this....caper sauce on the chicken and vegetable lasagne. Food arrived cold, was heated up but when we inquired why there were no vegetables in the lasagne or capers in the chicken dish the manager became defensive and said "well you enjoyed your food as it is all gone! We had to go containers on our table with over half our dishes. We asked for a discount. The manager or waitress never returned. Went inside to pay and when we left THE MANAGER CHASED US OUT TO OUR CAR TO INDICATE WE DID NOT LEAVE ENOUGH TIP!!!!! I waited tables for many years and owned a business for 26 years. The new owner should be ashamed of this service. I doubt we will ever return. read more

While vacationing in NM we saw great reviews about Joes. The only thing I could say that was worth the visit was the friendly wait staff that looked after us. Food was average diner food but at high end restaurant prices. A family of four for breakfast that was just under $100! Thats ridiculous for a restaurant in a strip mall. read more

Unbelievably awful!! Would rate 0 stars but that's not possible. I waited 30 minutes for a $60 to go order which only contained 2 items. Ended up being over charged for a pizza (ordered small, received and charged for large) and was also given the most horridly over cooked calamari ever served. It's a shame this poor little squid had to die twice like that. And for $40, the pizza should have been spectacular. It definitely was not. I did reach out to management. Was told I could only get store credit which is frustrating to no end as I won't be returning (which I did indicate to the manager on the phone). We took the trek north to participate in the Santa Fe Breast cancer walk....tired and hungry we turned to Joe for refuge. Joe's is simply good food. The Margherita Pizza....looked and tasted from scratch-tomatoes were fresh-mozzarella was fresh-pesto was fresh-the crust fresh made... delizioso..:) One of the best pizzas we've eaten in New Mexico. We waited forever to get our food ..... the food was average but priced terribly high. For two burgers and two sides with water it was $55..... this was the most expensive meal we've had since we arrived ......and the food our least favorite...... very disappointed. read more

My friend and I stopped in Santa Fe for a day last month, and on the recommendation of our hotel had lunch at Joe's Dining. What a fun time! Rick and Baxter took great care of us; they welcomed us warmly, guided us through the menu, and checked on us often during our meal. Their service was fast, and the food was delivered with a smile. We both ordered the half-sandwich, half-salad combos, with iced tea to drink. I had a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with avocado, and it was HEAVENLY. And my salad was very tasty, too--the house dressing was a tomato vinaigrette. My friend had the brisket sandwich which she found a bit dry, but the salad was excellent. The ambience was swell--like a 50s diner--and the music selections were from our youth. We had a great time! read more

This place recommended because of the special Oktoberfest offerings of German style food. I ordered Schnitzel, and it was excellent! Literally like home made. It was accompanied by a small serving of booled red postatoes dressed with a light butter-horseradish sauce and a little salad greens. The generous portion of excellent schnitzel was quite sufficient This was our first time here. We're only in Santa Fe annually for an event, so wont have the opportunity to dine at Joe's again soon. Found this place on the gluten free ap. Supper excited to eat at a place that has GF bread. Atmosphere was cozy and cute. They had a menu for GF, though GF is up charged. They had gluten removed beer too that was so good. They have a desert menu that had more than ice cream, however they were out. (My kinda luck) I had a Ruben, so good even if I miss rye. Hubby had bison which was supper yummy. Kiddos had pizza, BLT and pasta. No complaints. We shared fries, because meals are al a cart. Everything is local, organic and grass fed. SO FREAKING AWESOME They are so in tune to being natural, even soap was fragrant free. Ketchup was organic. I will say, it was a little $$, but it's not enough to knock my rating down. We enjoy their menu and have had several entrees at different times of many days -- ALL GOOD. They have a very loyal customer base, so the restaurant is often full. Friendly diner decor. Great staff -- helpful, friendly, accommodating. Have been numerous times since moving to Santa Fe. Great for breakfast. Everything we've had for breakfast has been good. And dinner. (Haven't had lunch there.) Liver and onions -- how often do you see that on a menu? Good stuff. A liver pate appetizer. Best onion rings we've had in Santa Fe. Quiches are delicious. Pizzas are good (though I prefer a thicker crust). Avocado with shrimp and crab is good lighter fare. Good burgers. The Italian dishes aren't as good as the others (hence only four stars). We joke that we are eating our way through the menu. Reasonably priced. We like it! read more
