Let's see what kind of trouble I can get into

I plan on hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim next year and have been searching for all the gear I need/want between now and when I hike. I have visited the Chandler location on numerous occasions. I would not say the staff is overly friendly or helpful. They are there if you need help or assistance, but I have never been greeted or asked if I need any help. With that said, there are plenty of staff available and willing to help you just have to make sure to find them. The store has always been clean and well organized, so it is easy to maneuver through and find what you are looking for. Pricing is competitive, and if you sign up for the lifetime membership--I believe it is $30 now--you can get money back on merchandise. Last time I was in, I was able to get my son a hat that he's been wanting for $34 after tax, and I still have $20 left I can apply to future purchases. Since there is a huge selection of merchandise it is nice to be able to try on things such as a backpack, shoes, etc. to see how it fits and how you like it once it is on. There are so many reviews on products but what it comes down to besides doing your homework is that it is so individualized. What one person likes another might not.

I went around going to a few other stores looking for a new camelpak, and I knew this was the last stop where they definitely had one that fit what I was looking for. Of course, the adventure of taking the morning to explore the entire store, they have so much gear for everyone. I guess this is the place to get anything for your outdoor adventures, as it seemed like there was constantly a line for checkout, even with them running almost at full cashiers. Their employees are always so helpful. I managed to flag one down to ask if they had camelpaks and she walked me over to the section on the cycling side, which if I didn't I would have missed a lot more of a selection. Note: There are two sections for hydration packs. Be sure to check both sections if you're in the market for a new hydration pack. I only wished they had some cleaning tools with brushes and drying tools to keep my new hydration pack in good shape, especially since. it was $100, after the Memorial Day sale. I will also give kudos to the cashier gentleman who really shared the benefits of their $30 membership, but in the end, I don't go there that often...maybe twice a year.

I'm a big outdoor guy and frequent shopper of REI (Recreational Equipment Incorporated). I mostly come here for camping and hiking equipment. REI can be a little pricey, but I like that they offer quality products. There are good deals to find if you receive their catalog or emails. This Chandler store is spacious and is one of the nicer REI's that I have been in. REI has been around for decades and sells outdoor equipment for camping, cycling, running, water and snow activities, hiking, climbing, and fitness. The lifetime membership is worth it if you shop here often. You pay a one-time fee to join. There are discounts and rewards offered for being a part of the program. REI does a garage sale a couple times a year where they sell discounted gently used equipment (usually stuff that has been returned). If you are wanting to try something new, REI offers beginner outdoor activity classes each month for a fee. You can also pick up an annual national parks pass here as well.

A very nice and very large REI location. One of the larger stores that I've seen of this brand. A great selection of all your outdoor gear. Shoes, clothing, camping, hiking, climbing, kayaking, biking, etc... The store boasts a very large baking area; bike services are available for repairs and 20% discount's are offered to members on shop services. While this COOP can be a little pricey there are always great deals that you need to check out at the clearance areas. All of the items sold at the store are quality and most allow up to a one year return policy. Join the co-op and get discounts on items that are sold at the store. You must stop in and check out this location for all your outdoor activity gear needs Fantastic service in each department. Get assistance with personally fitting gear to ensure maximum comfort.

$99 + tax, 36 months old, 3 uses, ripped in two places, stitching came apart - and REI won't exchange it. Bye Bye REI.

It pains me to write this, but I'll no longer shop at REI nor recommend it. I have been a loyal customer of REI for years, for mostly one reason: their return/exchange policy. If their gear didn't hold up, you took it back and it was replaced. That is no longer true. I paid $100 for a compact camp chair. I owned it for three years, but only used it a few times. I took it out this week, and it ripped in two places, and the stitching came apart. I did as always, took it back to have it replaced. I was told that for most anything you buy at REI now, they won't back it for more than one year. Seriously? For the premium prices you pay for REI gear, I was only willing to shop there because of their great return/exchange policy. So I won't be shopping at REI any more. I can get my outdoor gear elsewhere cheaper. Bye Bye, REI. You took away my reason for buying your expensive gear. Bye Bye, REI.

Draconian mask policy. You can require masks but don't be rude about it. I won't be back.

My experience with Jos A. Bank (both this location, two other locations, and their corporate team) was horrific save working with Madeline and Ross at this location. While I truly commend both of them on their wonderful customer service, I cannot recommend anyone even consider renting tuxes from this company. It was by far the most stressful part of planning my wedding, which is outrageous. We had initially been planning on buying suits for our wedding day, but we won 8 tux rentals at the Bridal Show, so we decided to use these instead. Despite being free, they honestly caused more of a headache than they were worth and I wish we'd just bought suits elsewhere. Here are the issues we had: 1) At our first visit, my husband, father, father-in-law, and brother went in with the certificates for the free suits. I wasn't there, but I was told that they completely brushed off the certificates and didn't put anything into the computer. A sales associate also said "Wow, it's so nice that you have three generations in here trying on suits" implying that my dad was my father-in-law's father... my dad is in his 60s. It was incredibly rude. I can't remember that associates name, so I won't take a guess. My brother and husband did manage to get measured. 2) After hearing about this, my mother and I went in to make sure the certificates were on file and being used. The certificates had not been entered into the system by the other associate. When we got there, no one really seemed to know what was going on other than Madeline. She made sure that there were several notes made about the free suit and called the corporate line to make sure there were no issues. We're grateful to her for this. 3) One of our groomsmen in California was yelled at by the manager of his store because he didn't have a group number to put the measurements in. We were never given a group number, and they can easily look up the rental by event date and name. 4) A groomsman in Georgia went to get fitted and the sales associate guessed his jacket size and just told him a number. When he asked if they needed to put it into the computer for the event they told him no. He went outside and called my husband to see if this was correct (it wasn't), and then went back inside to make sure they measured him properly. 5) A groomsman had his measurements already and was trying to call in to give them to the store. He got redirected multiple times by the corporate office and even GOT SENT TO MEN'S WAREHOUSE. How this happened, I have no idea. My best guess is that an employee tried to google their own number and Men's Warehouse had a paid ad. 6) We called the Monday before our wedding to make sure the tuxes were coming in. Thank goodness we did, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T ORDER MY HUSBAND'S TUX. I have no idea how this happened, because my brother, who was measured at the same time had his tux ordered and we had paid a deposit. In the same call, we also learned that one of the tuxes was going to Georgia, even though we'd requested everything get delivered to this location. I honestly am not sure how this would've been fixed if we hadn't called. Luckily, we got in touch with Ross, the store manager, who calmed me down (because I was absolutely livid by this point) and figured out how to get all of the tuxes there on time. 7) When the tuxes came in one was about 4 inches too short and one had jacket sleeves sewn on in a way that they were permanently twisted and not wearable. Both groomsmen were able to go into this location and Ross helped them fix the situation. Tldr; Ross and Madeline are great but this store and company are not worth the awful service and complete lack of quality control that we received from everyone else. If it hadn't been for Ross, my husband wouldn't have had a tux.

Every time I go in there get nothing but great service. I feel like I have a personal attendant…read more One of my favorite stores.
