Remedy is one of the most unassuming but wonderful bars you can frequent in Chicago. The cocktails are on point. The Purple One (yes, that is the name of the cocktail) has edible glitter and is surprisingly refined despite the name. If you're trying to look butch in front of your friends, they have a great mix and match beer/liquor special that I've gotten a few too many times. I've had two bartenders here: Olivia and Caitlyn. In a city of bartenders that pride themselves on being gruff, these two people are so welcoming and professional at the same time, I couldn't ask anything more in a bartender. Amazing happy hour deal! Half off cocktails! Can't beat it. In the times I've been there, I have tried the asshattan, bloom, the western and the remedy. The asshattan is definitely delicious and there's a reason it's their biggest seller, but being a gin drinker, I like the remedy the most. The pricing is normally reasonable for specialty cocktails but happy hour you can't beat. Staff is also really nice and the location is good. Can't say much more than that. read more

WOW! Just wow! We are out-of-townies but stumbled into this place randomly after a good dinner in Logan Square. The ambiance, the drinks, the bartender-- everything was amazing! Best part is happy hour: everything if half off from 4-7 on weekdays, which makes the amazing cocktails already worth it. I am a big fruity cocktail fan and had The Bronson and That's My Jam. If you love berry flavors, get That's My Jam. If you love pink lemonade, get The Bronson. Both are boozy and will get you into happy mode in two seconds flat. I like this neighborhood bar a lot! It's dark. I wish there was just a little more light to at least read the menu better but it is an awesome spot to hang out on the weekends. They sometimes have live music playing but it's usually just really chill. The bartenders are great and the drink menu is very diverse. I would definitely recommend going. read more

We held our wedding after party at The Remedy since it was a couple blocks from our venue (The Joinery). Due to some last minute changes I didn't have a space for the after party. Thankfully, I emailed the manager the day before our wedding and requested that a couple tables be held for our guests and they were quick to respond and were very accommodating. We ended up having far more guests come than we anticipated, and The Remedy was a great space for our party. The bar selection included wine, beer, cocktails, and shots (check), was clean (check), was not a dive or pretentious (check), and allowed us to hold some tables without a minimum charge (check). We hosted our Couples Wedding Shower at the bar and it was amazing! Best hidden gem out there. We picked this spot because it's become our favorite bar to frequent and they were beyond accommodating for all our party requests. Ryan made everything so easy to set up and communicated diligently on all our requests. We brought in outside food, set up drink tickets and packed the front house with people and presents and everything went off without a hitch. The fireplace in the front and the ambiance in the bar made it so perfect for a November party. OH and it doesn't hurt they have some amazing bartenders that make the cleanest classic cocktails you've had (an old fashioned for me) or will absolutely blow you away if you want dealers choice. I came here last week with a girlfriend for a mid-week, post work drink. I've never been before but I've driven / biked / walked by hundreds of times. The exterior looks inviting and they have big open windows on a nice day. The most redeeming thing about this bar is the happy hour special - from 5 - 7 on weekdays they have 50% off everything. Yes everything. I was able to get 2 cocktails for a total of $12. That is a huge win. They were pretty good too - nothing great but they exceeded my expectations (which were low given that this is a 5am bar). I am beyond the days of going out to get black out drunk so perhaps I just can't appreciate the late late night venues as much as I used to. It's my personal preference to go to a nice place for 1 quality cocktail than to go somewhere decent for 10 beers, and I appreciate something a little cleaner on the inside. TLDR: Get better doormen please. We went to get a celebratory shot of whiskey at Remedy after the Cubs won the World Series. We live around the corner and had been eyeing this place for awhile. There was a group of kids smoking weed outside so we walked in and headed for the bar, which was basically empty. Then we heard someone screaming at us, turned around and apparently one of the guys smoking was the doorman, who we had inadvertently passed. Dude was super rude and aggro like we had tried to slip past him (how were we supposed to know there was a doorman there?) and kind of ruined the special moment. Happy they're open late. Good drink specials on Tuesday, but the bartenders have an attitude that doesn't jive with me. It's cool. They're very cool guys, and apparently are confused when we asked for a cocktail that wasn't sweet. Literally, we wanted a cocktail that wasn't sweet, and they were stumped. This is the nicest late night bar that I have been to in Chicago. They have a great selection of drinks from nice cocktails to affordable brews. The staff is very professional and accommodating. The design and interiors of this bar are pretty neat. We were excited to have a nice cocktail bar in the neighborhood. No food beyond some nuts and jerky- so you'd expect the drinks to be the main draw...But they're not. We ordered the Diablo which was a tequila drink- pretty sweet not too bad. My husband got the snowflake which was a seasonal drink. It had so much creme de violette it was almost undrinkable. For our second round we got gin and tonics- a safer drink. Not what I'd expect from a place that is representing as a craft cocktail bar. I hope they try harder with a new bar menu because the location and design is nice. Staff was good too. read more

Racist bar tender. I came to the bar with friends from out of town. Some dude that seemed to be on drugs accused my friends of looking at him. The lady bartender would not hear me out and actually listened to the person on acid instead. She decided since I criticized her, she would kick me out and had someone escort my 3 white friends and I (a black guy) out of the bar. Went here on a Friday this week. Really likes the place. The service is quite slow. We had to wait 10 minutes before our turn came to place our order. It's a small place so the seating isn't exactly great. They didn't have Balvenie Scotch whisky which is quite strange for a good bar. I ended up having a Glenfiddich instead which isn't a bad replacement. We didn't try the food. read more
