Found it on Yelp. After walking around Manhattan for 2 full days with out-of-town guests, I figured I deserved a 90 minute foot massage. Decided to try this place. They were able to get me in quickly, and were very courteous and friendly when I arrived. Only thing that was a bit weird is since they were full, they did the foot massage in the waiting area. Was a bit awkward since I kept dozing off. That being said, they were very busy, and I understand during the week rooms are more available. I had Alex and he gave one of the best foot massages I've ever had. I'll definitely go back, but likely during the week. Very reasonably priced and staff is very nice. Had I not been in the waiting area for the massage would have been 5 stars. Terrific place... ADDENDUM...just went back..and they earned the 5th star. not a beautiful relaxing gorgeous place a simple no frills type of place where you come to get your massage and leave happy. located in an apartment like building on the second floor the waiting area is tiny. the rooms for the massages have no doors but curtains which obviously allows you to hear noise coming from outside. this is a bit distracting, but for what you are paying, how can you complain. the massage itself was amazing. they "hurt" me so good! my lady was so strong, it was incredible. i felt bruised afterwards but in a great way. massaging someone for a hour is extremely difficult and hard work. be sure to tip well ! read more

First off I would like to say that I don't typically write Yelp reviews, but after receiving my second massage here today I felt I must. I was so excited after my first 1 hour massage there, it was really good and for the price it seemed almost too good to be true. After my massage today, I realize it was the actual masseur that I lucked out on, not the place. I just received my second 1 hour full body massage and I left feeling angry and inappropriately touched. First of all my masseur basically either petted and stroked me the whole time, or used her elbow in an unskillful way once in awhile. I stopped her 3 times to ask if she could work on a spot (that obviously had serious knots) and for her to use her thumbs to get in there, she did for a little bit and then went back to this general over all petting with her hands that creeped me out or broad strokes with her elbow. Also, all of my clothes were off except my underpants which I prefer to keep on because I don't feel comfortable with them off, my masseur pulled my underpants fully down and than proceeded to stroke and rub my butt, I've had many full body massages in my life, and a good butt massage is a delightful thing, but she wasn't massaging, she just kept petting and stroking all over my body including my ass with my underpants pulled down. I felt confused, angry and frankly a little molested. I doubted myself probably because it wasn't a man, if it had been I would've gotten up and left in middle of the massage, but now in retrospect I wish I had. I felt like my masseuse was somehow just stroking me for her own enjoyment, the knots in my back and shoulders weren't really attended too and she completely skipped important area's. (But she made sure to pet my ass for hours!) I feel cheated out of a real massage, and i'm now questioning if I was sexually violated!!! read more

Body needed some TLC after a long flight in from California. Called and made an appointment here. Got a one hour body massage and a 1/2 hour foot massage. The body massage was pretty decent and bordered on painful. I didn't love that the masseuse didn't ask me what areas to focus on but no biggie. Also didn't seem to focus on the legs at all. The foot massage was heavenly. Prices were okay, kind of on the high side for NY. Overall experience here was average. I'm not so sure that I would return as there have to be better options in the city. read more

I tried Renewing Spa yesterday. I have been wanting to check it out for several months. It was recommended to me and the location is convenient. I didn't have an appointment, but had a horrible day and was in the area, so decided this was a perfect time to give it a try. They're open late and take walk-ins, which was part of the appeal and decision to check it out. I should also say, I get a lot of massages (especially deep tissue) and am very familiar with the techniques used. I tend to go to a particular spa that has a masseur who focuses on sports/dance massage and works very deeply in the leg muscles in particular. I say this for context of my experiences and how it applies to my rating here. The place is clean and neat. No frills, which was fine and as I expected. When I walked in, I said I didn't have an appointment but would like a massage. I was ushered by a woman straight to a room next to the front desk and then left. No discussion about what I wanted or anything else. They basically offer only two services - full body massage or foot massage. The choice of time is 30 min or full hour. I wanted the full hour, full body massage (full body work). The masseuse entered and started right away confirming I wanted 1 hour. I said yes and she began. Then she asked if I like it deep and I said yes. That was the extent of the conversation until the end. Since it was my 1st time here, I assumed that's their approach. It was a little less of the traditional "technique" that I have experienced at expensive spas (she did a long warm up rubbing over the towel versus going straight to oils, which I didn't love). It seems that all massages there include hot stones, which is nice, but she left the room for a bit to go get them and I wasn't sure what was going on. She really only focused on my back which has the thinnest muscles on my body. I would have preferred more neck, shoulder and upper leg work. Due to an injury my right side is much tighter than my left, which is usually obvious to masseurs who have worked on me before. She didn't seem to pick up the difference or if she did, she still went with what her standard approach is. She basically rubbed my back a bunch and dug her elbow in along both sides of my spinal cord. The result is intense pain along my spinal cord today, which I've never experienced before. She also didn't do equal amounts of face down versus face up. It was about 5 min face up which was primarily my face and she didn't reposition the foot pillow to under the back off my knees when I flipped over. The result was her pressing down on the top of my legs forcing my knees to hyper-extend when she moved up and down my leg. I really would have liked my quads done in a more focused way because they're really tight. But it wasn't like she asked what I wanted worked on at all, so she wouldn't have known. Also, in a full body massage my feet are usually rubbed. She didn't touch my feet at all. I'm not dehydrated as I drank a liter of water before I went and when I got home. It was just an okay experience. If I go back, I would likely not ask for deep pressure because it doesn't seem they take the deep tissue approach I'm used to elsewhere. I would also insist on speaking to someone first about what I want because this wasn't really it. The music was lovely in the background and the lighting was dim which was great. I didn't like that I could hear the guy in the room next to me. He was apologizing and then I could hear him getting dressed which was distracting. Not sure if I would go back. I'm honestly indifferent at the moment. Perhaps I'll go to my high-end spa first and then try here again when I'm less "in need" of a real deep tissue massage. read more

Do not come here. I usually go to Taiji body work but decided to give this place a try since it's a bit cheaper. My husband and I went for a couples massage. Both masseuses did not know what they were doing. I think they messed up my lower back, it has been hurting more and more since the massage. Another problem was shitty treatment we got from a front desk person who docked us 10 minutes of the massage because we were 5 minutes late which he decided to tell me for the first time when I was already lying undressed on the table. Finally, while I get that this is a no frills kinda place, it's also very loud and hard to relax since the rooms are right next to the front desk. I don't even know where to start...... I NEVER write reviews but this place is amazing. A full body massage--- hot stones, oil, deep tissue (if you choose) ... the works, all for $40 for an hour. From start to finish, Peter was thorough and made sure I was comfortable. I am amazed by the quality of service and how they make sure you are satisfied with the service, temperature of the room and the pressure of the massage. The best part was walking out of the room and seeing that he was waiting for me with water. They have plenty of options for times and they're open late which is a huge plus. This place is legit, although I do not know how they keep their prices so incredibly low & I wonder. It isn't a "high end spa" but gets the job done hence the lower prices. I like to do the 1 hour foot massage option, because as a new yorker and a registered nurse, I walk TONS. The foot massages keep me going :). After the appointments, I always feel amazing, and like I am literally walking on a cloud. Traditionally I never would have thought to get a foot massage, but it is now a part of my self care routine - TRY IT. Best place ever! This was by far the best massage I have had in New York. I went with my mom for my graduation and it couldn't have been better! It is beautiful inside and is very quiet! Everyone there is kind and welcoming! I had a wonderful lady named Linda - she definitely knew what she was doing! I didn't have to say anything - and she got all the right spots. It was the perfect! I just moved to the area and I am now going once a week! This place is perfect for surviving in New York - because it definitely gets hard living here and a massage is the perfect way to make sure you are being the best person you can be! I was pleased with my experience. The masseur was strong and did a good job with my sore shoulders. The host at the front desk was courteous and even made sure all my cups of water were warm (as I had requested the first to be). Booked my appointment while walking to the spot. Open late which is very helpful for people with unaccommodating work schedules. Very good value at $39 per hour and masseur made a point about adding an extra ten minute front massage. Consider being a bit more generous with tipping (if you typically tip by percentage) since the base rate is so reasonable. read more

When I walked in I was warmly greeted by a gentleman and I checked in. I came in for an hour massage deal I bought on Groupon. They didn't make me feel like a nuisance for it (like some places do) and I really appreciated it. While waiting, there were some loud people getting foot massages. The gentleman at the desk silenced them which, again, I really appreciated. Also, the "no hanky panky" sign cracked me up as well. The masseuse did an amazing job. Not one part was missed (I've had people skip arms and legs) and the pressure was perfect. As my time disappeared and I was finished, I was warmly greeted at the exit with a cup of water. When I paid, I did have to pay a $3 tax, which is no biggie but was not explained on the Groupon. If I didn't have the cash, I would've been a little more irritated (atm fee ) but luckily I did. Front desk said they do with medium style because some people like Swedish style but it was not medium pressure at all! I'm a big no frills massage fan and was looking for an affordable and familiar place while visiting NYC, like the ones I go to in the San Gabriel Valley. I "splurged" and instead got the the special - a nice quiet room (for 2 with my friend next to me separated by a curtain) and a good solid full body massage, the pressure was very firm and I still felt it the next day - so good!!! The only thing I could've done without was the time going off as it was distracting. I wish I could've stayed a few more days to try out the foot massage too. Definitely recommend. read more

Found this place on google maps. The front door was a little sketchy, and when I walked up to the 2nd floor it was pretty dark, but when I got inside I saw that the dim lights were actually very relaxing. The receptionist was very quiet, kind, and friendly, and told me to have a seat. I only waited about 4 minutes, and they were ready for me. I'm also very happy that they accept credit cards. The massage itself was 5 stars! The lady was very professional- she used acupressure over a towel at first (which I thought was weird), but then switched to oil, and hot stones.. I felt like a new woman afterwards, so I won't question the initial towel pushing, haha. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the fact that the rooms were only separated by a curtain, so I heard the lady in the next room over having attitude with her masseuse and then later moaning.
