I didn't realize until coming back to Yelp to post my review that this place is part of the Renew Day Spa chain. I've been to the one in Chinatown multiple times and am a fan. This one is far less crowded. They're currently offering a promotion where you get 15 minutes extra massage time (feet or body work - your choice) for checking-in on Yelp. At $39 for an hour of body work, it's pretty much a steal. Despite the incredibly affordable price, the service was great (which is not something you can just take for granted at a lot of these places). The receptionist was incredibly friendly and made sure that I got a room with a curtained window for some ventilation. The masseuse gave me one of the best massages I've found in New York. Now, I prefer massages that most others would consider extremely painful. Lily (my masseuse) really got through all the knots in my shoulders, hip area and calves. Afterwards, I told her "I've been looking for you!" She laughed because I wasn't kidding when I told her I like strong massages. "No, you like really strong massages," was her response. I'll definitely be coming back here though as some other Yelpers have expressed, I want to be selfish and keep this place a secret! read more

I came across this place owing to Yelp. I have done my sessions with COCO all three times and all were wonderful. COCO is very thorough IMO :) In detail, they listened to what I want specifically ( like I want to focus on legs instead of upper body etc...) and made sure I get what I want. Staffs taking care of appointments and calls are also very nice ( I had to change my appointment time a thousand times for one of my appointments but they were very accommodating). I think if you are in the area, you should definitely try this place out as not much to lose in terms of price anyway. read more

Recommended by a friend, we had a great deep tissue massage at Renewing Spa. The two of us for the hour plus tip and tax amounted to $100 (if you pay cash they won't charge you tax). The whole body massage is no joke. I'm actually still sore a day later. From your temples to your toes, my masseuse covered all the key points. We called 30 minutes ahead for an appointment at 1:45pm no problem. When we left, they had a couple guests waiting in the lobby. I've now gone here twice and had 2 very different experiences: First visit - It was FANTASTIC. I had a male masseuse that knew exactly what he was doing. I checked in on yelp and got the 10 extra free minutes. It was an incredible 70 minute experience and the value was unbeatable. I felt stress free and my body knew it had been treated right. He regularly asked if the pressure was OK and adjusted accordingly. I tipped generously and took a mental note to make sure I came back. Second visit - Today. Not so great. I got a female that didn't seem to really know what she was doing. I split the massage between body and feet - and I'm so glad I did. She actually somehow made my shoulders and neck more tense. They actually still feel uncomfortable. The pressure was inconsistent, at times I could barely feel it, and at other times it genuinely hurt. I was glad when she was ready to switch to feet, which isn't something you should feel during a massage. Luckily, she did a pretty good job with the feet, so when I left I still left a tip, though it was smaller than I normally would. This actually resulted in an awkward interaction at the front desk, that I'm hoping was just an attempt at seeing if I enjoyed my massage. It's still a cheap place and my first visit was great. I'm not sure if I'll return, but if I do I'll be sure to ask for the guy. read more

Absolutely amazing!! Got my one hour body massage there this morning before meeting up a friend for lunch, this is the best massage in a long time, been to a lot of different place before but by far this is the BEST. The front desk receptionist are super friendly and everybody work there is nice and professional. This place is not big or fancy like a high-end spa, but it's clean, with the price and my massage, I have no complain. $39 for 70mins massage ( yelp check-in ), Renewing spa..... I've been to Renewing Spa twice now and they definitely get the job done! It seems a little sketchy when you first arrive, but if you just want to get in and out with a loose neck/back I'd highly recommend. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Renewing Spa after several days spent dealing with the stress of moving into our new place - we'd been unpacking boxes, hauling junk, pushing furniture, living off take-out - all in-between crazy hours at work. In short, we needed massages, and Alex and Sara did a fantastic job! We chose Renewing Spa because of the pricing and the Yelp reviews, after comparing it to more expensive spa experiences (e.g. Aire, which is great but also very pricey if all you care about is the massage). The massage you get here will be great: over 60 minutes, you get a thorough massage, hot stones included; friendly service; some gentle music piped into the room; and very quiet staff so you really feel relaxed while you're getting the knots worked out of your back and shoulders. The location is on the second floor of what is ostensibly a residential building, but so what? It's a great experience, and I'll be sure to return the next time I'm feeling the stress of city living. read more

This spa is very nice inside. And clean too. I had a reflexology session which was extremely relaxing. I went with a friend who had a facial. We both thought they were great and VERY worth the reasonable prices they charge. I also want to comment that there is no issue communicating with the employees here, like at other Asian spas. This is the nicest most affordable massage place in the city. From the moment you walk in, a friendly receptionist greets you and leads you to a semi private room separated by an actual wall. The massage itself is excellent, especially for the price. Before I got my feet massaged, the masseuse was kind enough to give me a bandaid - I had gotten a blister from my new shoes. Wow the service has gone down here. I have been a regular for years and recently there is this new guy at the reception, he was so rude. I'm contemplating ever going back. This was my second trip there within 10 days and on the first one because there was a lot of noise in the reception area, the nice girl at reception gave me a 30 min free voucher. I decided to use it the same week as I was having some leg aches. Came for an hour massage and wanted to use the voucher plus pay for 30mins separately. Firstly, I had booked the appointment the day before but they rushed me out of the room before my service time was completed because they hadn't planned this well and had their next appointment showed up. Then this new guy gave me the remaining 10 mins of massage in a partitioned area at the back. I didn't complain, I was being compliant as I'm a regular except I wasn't seeing the regulars around at that time. Then the guy totally tried to humiliate me, I was using their courtesy voucher for 30mins and was tipping on my paid portion. Why would I pay for a full hour and tip on top of that. He couldn't speak English well and started yelling at me and demanding more money. I was like wow I come here atleast 3 times a month and you cannot 'demand' a tip by talking that way to a customer. It was the first time I felt like I was at a cheap Chinese place. I really like the guys - I think Eddy and a young girl who man the reception normally. This new person was hideous. I have cards and card full of their stamps and have never even used their free massage until now even once and this was the first time I was using a courtesy voucher for the bad service provided a week ago (because of some customer drama outside so not their fault) but I don't understand what I did wrong by using it ! he wanted me to pay for a full hour plus additional tip on that ! Like what was the point of giving me the 30minute courtesy voucher if you guys were going to behave this way ? read more

Maybe I just got unlucky but this was a complete waste of $26 for 30min (which i cut short). Massage therapist was very inexperienced and never bothered to ask what I wanted, what I liked, what hurt, etc. He started the massage without applying any oils. I've never been so uncomfortable getting a massage - he was on his knees on the table, his crotch above my head - weirded me out. Then he coughed in my back and kept sniffling the entire time like he was sick. I get that this place is no frills but your better off saving your money. It was a huge disappointment. read more

I searched "cheap massages nyc" on Yelp and this was at the top of the list. I called on a Thursday around 6 asking if they take walk ins, and she said it's better to make a reservation, and she could put me in for 6:30, great! It's in an apartment building on the 2nd floor right when you walk up the stairs. It's small and quiet, and the have signs hanging all around that say "No hanky panky" which made me laugh! They do a 60 min massage for $39 (amazing) plus you could get an extra 10 free minutes if you tap on an offer from the Yelp page (even better!) I asked for someone strong- and I got just that, a really strong, solid 70 minute massage for $39. It's not a beautiful spa or anything, it's exactly what you would expect - but there's no arguing it was an incredible deal and easy to arrange last minute! It looks like they offered package deals as well for those who make a habit out of going! read more

They say walk ins but then if they don't have a slot for the time duration you request and try to put you in for shorter, they won't give a concession for example you ask for 60min massage for $27, they say they only have 30min avail, so then since the time you want isn't present, then your 30 min should be $13.50, right? Nope, they'll still charge the full price of $20. Even though they can't offer you what you request they penalize you for their inability. That's BS. I left and ain't comin back. read more

This place is SUCH a gem for Chelsea locals! Amazing deep tissue massage, great for problem areas / v stressful days! Super duper friendly staff and, from what I can tell, lots of flexibility around fitting you in when it suits you. SUCH reasonable pricing, I had 1.25hr massage for less than $40 (excluding tip) with the Yelp deal, don't know ANYWHERE else this reasonable. Note - this is not a spa, it is no frills, no fuss, just a massage - this was perfect for me but I am aware this is not what some people will be looking for. Best place to get your body fixed. The masseuses here are really good at finding your knots
