Great massages. They really work out your knots and get in deep. I pop in usually after giving a phone call 20-30 minutes in advance. They're very kind and accommodating. It's truly meant for the massage experience and doesn't feel so spa-like. It suits my needs because I'm going for a serious massage as opposed to a zen spa day. They prefer cash payment (I believe it's a little discount you get), but I tend to pay with credit card and give cash tip (though you could leave a credit tip). Best value for a Chinese massage in midtown. Hands down the cheapest price outside of Chinatown. $39 for an hour back rub and $24 for a foot rub. They are more than happy to honor yelp check ins which gives you a free 10/15min add on to your back rub. Clean facilities, massage quality will vary depending on who you have. Definitely would come back. I tipped about $10 for my back rub and they were happy with that. read more

Came in for a walk-in appointment, they were a little busy so they told me when I could come back (in about 1.5hrs) which was fine, I just walked around Chelsea but I'll definitely make an appointment next time. My massage was great! Really good prices, clean, and they definitely know what they're doing. The amount of pressure was good and she was very thorough. This massage was great! I did 30 min back and 30 minute foot. They did a combination of oil, hot rocks and hot towel to relax the muscles. The 30 minute back massage consisted of deep tissue and some points were painful but at the end I was VERY relaxed. I paid $39 for all of this and I enjoyed it all. read more

It is a great deal $39 dollars for an hour massage full body including foot massage. They definitely work hard on your kinks but they check in the beginning if you are ok with the pressure. It was worth the $38. The lady really did a master job, especially on my back. I had some serious knots that she loosened up big time. I felt a whole lot better than how I went in. I found out that you get a free massage after the tenth time. They had a cup of water waiting for me after the massage was over. Lord knows I needed it. I will definitely be going back there. Wow, what a hidden gem this place is! I guess I consider myself to be a bit of a massage snob. This was definitely one of the best massages I have ever received. Admittedly, I was a little hesitant about the environment. It's on the 2nd floor of an apartment building and shower curtains separate rooms instead of walls. In the end, it didn't even matter and really just added to the unique experience. I have history with a lot of back problems and see a holistic chiropractor regularly. This experience was absolutely perfect for what my body needed! It wasn't as relaxing as some massages can be, but instead much more therapeutic. I was not asked much in terms of any issues I had but maybe my massage therapist was just that in tune with my body because she got all my problem areas. I loved the technique, a bit rough with pounding and the pressure (I wondering if she was standing once at times) and she really got in there! I wish I lived closer I would totally make this place a weekly ritual. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! And seriously, no where in the world you can get a massage like this for the price. read more

I usually go down to Chinatown for my massages at Kimberly or Kimberly 2 Spa (I have written reviews of each on Yelp). I was reading the recent reviews of Kimberly, and a few people mentioned that they have gone to the Renewing Spa on 8th Ave and 24th Street, so I decided to try it. For me, coming from the West Village, it is more relaxing to walk up 8th Avenue than trying to deal with the crowds in Soho and Chinatown. The rooms at Renewing Spa were larger than those of Kimberly, and there were walls between the massage rooms rather than curtains. The room was clean, and the mood music was playing at a decent volume. There was no chatter between the masseuses, and this made for a peaceful massage. The (female) masseuse asked me if I wanted medium or strong pressure, and being a big guy who is a veteran of massages, I indicated that I wanted it strong. The massage was nice, but she was a bit too soft on the pressure for my liking. You can definitely tell that the technique that was used my my masseuse is different than the technique that the masseuses at Kimberly have. Nevertheless, the massage at Renewing was very peaceful and relaxing, and I could feel myself falling asleep on the table. At the end of the massage, I felt that my mind was in a state of peace, whereas at Kimberly, I feel that my body has had the aches massaged out of it. So, two different experiences, both equally enjoyable. I see that Renewing has opened up a new place on 6th Ave and 13th Street, and I will definitely try that one, as it is very convenient to my apartment. In summary ... try Kimberly if you want the aches rubbed out of your body, and try Renewing if you want to put your mind at peace. read more

Made an appointment for 90 mins for my husband and I based solely on yelp reviews. Arrived to a sidewalk locked door that lead up black stairs and thought what have I gotten into. After we were buzzed in and the doors locked behind us my husband was questioning my judgment. Once inside the upstairs room we were greeted by a friendly staff.
