They were so sweet, personable, and welcoming, and they made me feel comfortable throughout the entire meeting. Our sweet Cheeto is blind, but you would never question whether he received the love and care he deserved before coming to us. Elisa and her son took exceptional care of him, and it truly shows in how loving, trusting, and well-adjusted he is. While some people may hesitate to adopt a blind dog because of the extra patience and care they require, Animal Prayers clearly believes that every animal deserves the same love and opportunity, regardless of any challenges or disabilities they may have. That compassion speaks volumes about the organization. Since bringing Cheeto home, he has been settling in so well with my son and me. The two of them have already become best friends, and our home is so much happier because of him. Watching their bond grow has been incredibly heartwarming. Just the facts about my attempted adoption with LARF…read more 1. I emailed videos of the inside of my home to Michelle Kelly as well as the rabbit foster mom before ever meeting the rabbit I intended to adopt. 2. Those videos were viewed prior to adoption. Michelle Kelly, the founder and owner of LARF, replied to the videos indicating she had viewed them and approved of the settings, given that I covered up any visible wires. 3. The foster viewed my home before leaving the rabbit with me. She was inside my home for almost two hours before leaving the rabbit in my care. 4. Michelle Kelly ordered the foster to collect the rabbit from my possession less than 36 hours later. There was no follow up visit. No new information came to light.  I merely received text messages in the middle of my work day stating that I had had "enough time" to make my space "rabbit safe." And that Michelle Kelly had made an "oversight" and acted "too quickly" and made oversights when approving the adoption.  I expressed willingness to communicate about any issues she had with the space and make it safer. She refused my efforts to discuss the matter further and merely ordered me to "return the rabbit to the foster." 5. The foster called me multiple times, sobbing and fearing for the "safety of the rabbit" and strongly implying the threat of legal action when I asked if discussion was possible. 6. I allowed the foster to take the rabbit that very night, collected from my house past 11PM. 7. The foster openly admitted to letting the rabbit outside at her home, which is against LARF policy. She has also admitted to "grabbing" him "one handed." 8. The "safety issues" cited at my house were a charging strip for lamp chards and my WiFi router, which I offered to cover, to no avail.  9. The foster, the designated LARF representative tasked with viewing my home for suitability,  admitted she only left the rabbit with me because she "doesn't know anything" about rabbits. And yet she was somehow a safe steward for the rabbit. 10. I expressed concern for the rabbits' stress due to rapid transport and changes in location. Stress is the #1 cause of gut stasis and death in rabbits, and I asked if it were possible to let him adjust before moving him to reduce stress. Neither Michelle nor the foster so much as engaged on the point. 11. I paid $150 for the adoption up front. It took roughly two weeks for Michelle Kelly to refund my money. 12. I was promised a follow up session to neutrally "try again" to bond the bunnies. This never happened. 13. This rescinded adoption took place on December 23rd. Two days before Christmas. Yeah, yikes.

The spirit is 4EVER If this reads bitter, it is... I was mistreated & maltreated by the very organization, not business, who brokered an adoption for my baby in 2016. Now, I'm not worthy. Look @ the photo below my name, u will c a bunny 2 the left. He is my baby--LA RABBIT FOUNDATION brokered that adoption with me December 2016, two months after I lost my former baby. He is the most handsome jet black lop baby I ever saw. Our DVM said the same thing. Attitude 2ward me, but I know he loves me because I love him so very much--almost 10 years 2007). He saw, felt, heard, touched, smelled, and tasted my love when I fed him after he was unable 2 chew raw veg. We were blessed w/a pretty, pretty little girl (approx 2011) who chose us a few years after our jet black lop. (she's in the photo). After a some fighting, etc., they became so very close 2012-2016). My Mommy passed away March 2016, I had 2 babies who love me whom I love & swore 2 protect. Mommy always said, after she realized how much love a bunny could give (our 1st 2003), 'they come first.' My baby girl needed another brother. She was so lonely--I couldn't stand it. It hurt so much to witness her emptiness. My adopted baby, who was given away after six years, was perfect 4 my little girl & me. Tentative & distrustful-- probably b/c of wht he endured fr the people who decided 2 give him up. Kind, helpful & shy, the cutest white bunny with blue eyes ever. He has many nicknames, but my favorite is, 'Little Bear'. I sing, 'Time Will Reveal' by DeBarge so he knows I love him & help gain his trust and comfort. Fast forward...the am of 10/28/2021, my baby boy lay in his hiding box near death. I spent 2 hrs calling all over LA 2 find an emergency for rabbits. Finally, I did. Halloween @12:20pm, my baby was dead, & I was out $4K. I did everything I could, gave permission--do whtever needed 2 save him; spent all that money & after everything we went thru, all we got was a dead baby in a white box & an extremely disturbed little bunny girl. I took her with me. We are a family. Fast forward, early Tuesday morning B4 Thanksgiving, I hv no idea wht happened w/my little girl. Our DVM came Wednesday. It seemed to be vertigo, so they cleaned her ears, flushed them thoroughly + antibacs. The issue did not even begin to correct itself. I realize bunnies do not vomit, however my baby's little stomach was heaving &, all of a sudden, some liquid came out of her nose. I held her all day & all night w/the exception of a few breaks the rest of the week. I didn't want her to spin like she had been doing. I scheduled an emergency appointment 4 that Sunday, spent upwards of $1500, & ER doctor dx neurological issues. Our DVM agreed. I kept her on my bed day & night, held her 2 my chest, fed/watered her every 2 hrs day & night. There is a lot I did in between. I've got photo receipts. 12/28 @8:25 AM, my girl & I looked into each others eyes, she let out a scream, and she was gone. I sang a song I chose that matched her personality years ago, Rick James' 'Cold Blooded' as I held her dead body in my arms. If this isn't true love, I don't know what it is. I swore an oath 2 all my babies I would do everything I could 2 care 4 them, keep them safe, & they wouldn't hv 2 worry abt nothing. I realized since 2003, whn my 1st baby chose me, we had not been w/o a bunnies 4 19 years. Our DVM suggested thinking abt adopting a sweet little girl she would hv, if she didn't have a dog. The suggestion was based on the fact I lost 2 babies in 2 months. After a while, & I hv all the receipts, I filled out adoption 'papers' 4 the sweet little girl recommended by our DVM. I heard nothing 4 abt 2 wks. I sent a f/u email, & that very same day they replied, 'We don't have a good match for you at this time. So sorry about the loss of your little love. We will let you know if anything changes!' This is the most dehumanizing, humiliating, soul gutting email fr an organization, not business, I ever received. LAR approved adoption 4 my baby 5 yrs prior, now there's no match for me. There r bunches of rabbits on the site--single rabbits & bonded rabbits, etc. I was open, that's wht I wrote in my application however, 2 them, the director, I'm not good enuf. I'm not good enuf 2B a bunny Mommy, NOW?!? I don't know why I was mercilessly rejected by LAF &, tho I wouldn't expect a reply, I do not want anything 2 do w/them. They are a 100% volunteer operated and don't own a building, but place all their animals in homes, so the fosters can tell you the traits of your perspective pet. They take in older, sick and behavioral issue animals and get them to trust again and soon they make amazing pets!!

She ended up texting an employee and every reply said we needed to send $150 to lock down the dog. All my wife wanted to do is ask a couple of questions. She then showed me what was happening and I told her to text our phone number to this lady so I could ask a couple of questions. After three long winded replies, every one mentioning the money, I told my wife to forget it. In the time this lady took to reply on text message, she could have called and answered our two questions. This rescue is all about the money ONLY! They both were amazing in helping us find the perfect fit in Katie, a long coat chihuahua mix. Pnut and Katie bonded perfectly! Moving forward, we recently lost our MinPin Pnut. We adopted a dog from PPR during Covid. He'd been surrendered, so I asked for his medical records -…read morewhich I understand is standard in such situations. The person denied having them & rushed us to take the dog and leave. This dog has had numerous medical issues, so I wonder if they were covering up something. Separately, they said he was 1-1/2 to 2 years old. We discovered later that he really was 4 years old, per the rescue's own vet. Even worse, someone changed a document we were given to falsify his age. I've seen suggestions that they're no longer in operation. If they are, I do not recommend adopting from them.

I initially adopted two brothers in early spring of 2024, but tragically lost one of the brothers to a freak house fire. After about 6 months when I felt ready enough to adopt another cat as a companion to my surviving cat, Stray No More helped me find the perfect fit for me and Murphy. Now Murphy and Ruby are besties, and I greatly appreciate the patience and the care SNM took to ensure we found the perfect pairing!

There was a time when I didn't understand why rescues are careful about adopting out single…read morekittens. My thought was, "a home is a home, so why should it matter?" But when we got our very first kitten 15+ years ago from a cousin's litter, we quickly learned that she was lonely and really needed a friend. Lesson learned, rescues aren't trying to be difficult, they're trying to do right by the animals (and yes, we later got her a friend ). Our family adopted our cat, Salsa, from Stray No More about three years ago. Her story broke my heart, she had been tossed in a garbage can outside of a Petco, and the employees brought her to Stray No More, who immediately stepped up to care for her. At the time, we weren't sure if we were ready to adopt another cat, so the rescue let us take her in as a foster-to-adopt. I think this is such a thoughtful option for people who want to "test the waters" before making a lifelong commitment. It didn't take long for Salsa to show us she was already home. My son fell in love with her spunky energy and mischievous streak right away, and we knew we couldn't imagine our home without her. Three years later, she's still keeping us on our toes with her "tortitude" and making us laugh daily. I'm so grateful that Stray No More was there for Salsa when she needed it most, and now a volunteer, I've seen firsthand how much care and intention they put into their adoption process. If you're looking to adopt, know that their guidelines come from a place of love for the animals and the joy of finding the right match is absolutely worth it.
