I love this place for a great, fresh pie. It helps that i live literally houses from it, but needless to say, its worth a drive across town. Its good enough, even the plain cheese pizza is delicious. The food here is great....but, we had the most rude server and horrible service I have had at a restaurant in years. We went in on a busy night and service was terrible. I can handle this but the attitude of our server was as if it were somehow our fault. We had to go to the bar for our own drinks and when the server got there she was snippy, defensive and non apologetic about our wait. She was more than a little unwelcoming, she should not be working with the public. The food is too expensive to be treated this way. read more

They took 25 minutes on a Monday and didn't get an order taken. I finally was greeted by a waitress and after that, everything was good. I want to give them 5 stars because I know this probably doesn't happen often by looking at other reviews, but there will be more opportunities to come back and give them another review. Some of the best beer cheese I've had. We got two pizzas, which were the Fairview Pi. The Fairview was outstanding. It was garlic cheese with Gorgonzola and slices of cured ham and pears. I have never had pears on my pizza and I don't regret it one bit. Amazing! We also had The Republic. Absolutely amazing if you are sausage person! The staff was amazing. The music was super cool. Great Pizza, horrible service! Republic Pi was our families "go to" pizza spot, until the service went downhill. The last two times we ate here our pizza took forever to come out, either because of high volumes or unattentive service. After giving them a second chance, I literally saw our pizza's come out and our waiter took zero notice, for what seemed like 10 to 15 minutes. The pizza finally came to our table, cheese completely solidified from coming back to room temp. Absolutely unacceptable! If I wanted luke warm pizza, I'd order it to go. What does the denizen of Southhill do when they hear the Flying Goat is coming to Southhill? Prey! Prey that it happens! Will it be in a good location? Will they have the same amazing beer and Pizza? Will I have to wait an hour to get in on a Friday night? Needless to say, Flying Goat has the best pizza in Spokane (not to say Veraci and Fyre Pizza are damn good,) still great is great, and Flying Goat has great pizza. Excellent crust, with a great new and old mix of toppings. Plus of course the beer and sides, all excellent. But at least for myself, I found it difficult to want to drive there from the hill for a pie, or to stand the weekend lines. But love going up when I can. Soooo, of course I am pretty excited to have it's sister...or is it brother restaurant Republic Pi show up across from the Manito Tap House. Which is great because when the Tap House has an hour wait you can now walk to Republic Pi! Needless to say I was excited to stop by for Lunch with the wife... The decor is nice and clearly has some influence from the Goat, in that dark, moody, artisanal pizza vibe. It is perhaps a hair too dark for me, but I love the open kitchen in the back, and of course the great patio out front. Alcohol- As noted there is a great selection of taps with all your local and nonlocal IPAs, wheat beers etc etc. I don't think any craft beer lover could be disappointed. Great selections. A nice touch is an expanded cocktail menu as well. What is really nice....and reflects back to an experience I had at the Down River Grill, is a surprisingly good wine list! I pined in a prior review to take my $100 bottle of Leonetti cellars cab from DRG over to the Goat. So gold star for that add! But if you order a $100 bottle of wine, it better be decanted! So I am going to hope that has also been passed to the waitstaff. I actually think that fine wine pairs great with amazing with great pizza.... But a Leonetti cab and white zin should not be treated the same....ok enough of that. Pizza..... Yep, Amazing? Drool worthy? Will I be back to order that expensive wine and enjoy some Pi's Pies? ........................well yes, but it is kinda a small asterick on that yes......And I think it really has to do with expectation. Now if you have never had Flying Goat, you are going to love Republic Pi. We had two great pizzas. I found that our meat pizza was quite a bit better than the nontraditional pizza we ordered..... (You do have to be careful with truffle oil...it really isn't truffles, think light hand with that stuff). My problem is most of Spokenites have probably already had Flying Goat... so you can't help but feel some pain when you don't see some of their famous Pies on the menu....I mean no Dalton or Fairview!!!!!!!!! You are killing me!!!!!!!! Seriously, this is almost evil to do to those that have known and loved Flying Goat. I totally support that yep this is a different restaurant, different menu, sure.... great.... thanks. But I just can't really understand at least taking a handful of pies from the Goat and sliding them on the Republic Menu. Because seriously, I don't want to drive up to the Goat, I want to go to my Flying Goat....I mean Republic Pi.....And alas, perhaps that was really the minus point....I loved our pizza, salad, the new restaurant, the staff....all great, but it left this empty pit, because while I would love to try one of the new pies, I really want to get my Dalton and Fairview too....So going to Republic Pi kinda left me wanting to go to the Flying Goat.......which I don't think it should...... So minus 1 star for snubbing those that have known and loved those pies at the Goat. Off night but they came though! We love Republic Pi and their sister restaurant Flying Goat. We have been to both MANY a time and are here tonight on a bit of a off night. Long story short a bit understaffed and new kitchen staff who is still figuring things out. We waited a long time for food which is not the norm. Food was out of this world but the waits were a little mind boggling. The manager went out of our way to take care of us and was very gracious. Every time we come here it is great, the service rocks, and we will be back again!!! Every restaurant has an off night but the way they responded to us and our frustration is what sets them apart. First time in this new establishment. Unique, post modern industrial decor offers a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere - lots of beautiful natural wood with elements of concrete and metal! For food: Brussels sprouts appetizer (with fresh cheese, bacon, and lightly tossed in balsamic) is one of the higher priced items but definitely worth it and they can easily be split between 2-4 people. Pizza: we got the shou Sugi ban which is is reminiscent of the Vietnamese banh mi sandwich meets pizza. It was generously covered in a citrusy olive oil which was delectable. Then covered in a carrot and daikon salad. I think I would like for a lightly pickled vegetable (onions or daikon?) to be added on top for a bit of zing. Loved the atmosphere of this place. The pi bites are to die for. My only issue with the place is seating, especially with the weather getting colder there isn't much room inside unless you sit in the bar. They do not take reservations unless you come with a group of 8+ so there is always a wait for a table. The wings were okay. We ordered a level 1 which were decent and a level 4 which were just too hot with not much flavor. Was more like a bar than we were expecting. Pizza was good, but quite pricey for a small pie. Mixed green salad was expensive for the size and toppings. Wings were good but super super hot. Artisan pizza is certainly gaining popularity and Republic Pi knows how to do it well. Sister restaurant to The Flying Goat but you would think they would have their own branded pizza boxes. That's alright though because I was there for the food. Our table had the jalapeño dumpling which were just the right size morsels, the Pi Bites (pretty basic but done well served with a cheese sauce), & fried avocado slices with their pico de gallo. Their pico de gallo is pretty tasty. This place is super kid friendly and every is kind and courteous. We also ordered 3 pizzas all of which were cooked perfectly in their oven. We sat in the back near the area they were making the food and it was actually quite nice. I like how you can also add other toppings to the pizza. We love the Flying Goat, so we already had a bit of expectation of what the pizza should be about. Creative, quality, fire roasted, artisan pizza. That's just what we got! The service was great and the food delicious. We ordered 3 pizzas, the Cannon and The 30th were spot on. We also ordered The Bluff because we love brussel sprouts and we thought it sounded interesting. The flavor was great but the brussels were just cut in half and hard to eat. We thought if they were slices thin or shaved it would have been more enjoyable. We also started with the beer tempera avocado. Crunchy, creamy and quite unique! The first time I came here was an off-night, and I was pretty disappointed. However, the owner responded promptly and appropriately to my review and assured me that that is *not* the standard their food is held to. I tried again and the food was *perfect.* I'm so delighted to have something like the goat so close to my house!! Food: There's a really varied menu, not just AWESOME pizzas (I had the Republic, it was amazing), but salads, sandwiches, and appetizers that make me excited to visit regularly.
