Rerack: Simply the Best. My family of 3 just got our bikes tuned up and ready for riding, but we had no way to transport them from point A to point B. I'm too short to safely toss my bike onto a roof rack. We don't have a hitch, and I was feeling hesitant to sink a thousand dollars into our 1996 Subaru Legacy for installation and rack. I have been wracking my brain, trying to find a solution -- surely people used bike racks back in the day? I did multiple Google searches, Craiglist searches, Subaru forum searches, anything to provide some insight on a solution for our prehistoric vehicle. I went to REI, where an employee left the store to study my vehicle in the parking lot, called Yakima and Thule to make sure what he thought would fit would, then subsequently refused to sell me any of their products because the companies claimed they hadn't tested them out on any dinosaur cars lately. Blargh! Thank you, NPR, for your RerackPDX advertisement which impressed itself upon my brain. Thank you, Garrett at Rerack, who relaxedly assured me over the phone that there would be multiple options for rear mount bike racks for our car. I had an appointment this morning and got here a little early so I waited outside the door. As I was standing there three employees came out and rudely let me know that they weren't open yet. I explained that I was just waiting for my appointment and was treated like an unwelcome annoyance. They basically didn't want me to be there. I called Rack Attack and let them know what was going on and they got me in right away and were awesome to work with(not to mention cheaper). Avoid this place until they get their employees to act like they actually want business. Their attitude cost the owner over $700 in my case. read more

Big shout out to the gents at ReRack. These guys went out of their way to replace my damaged bike rack, free of charge. And they had no obligation to do so. It got jacked up, with my bike still attached, last month. I thought that maybe the wind storm that night had done it, but it turns out that more likely, someone was trying to steal my bike. Went in looking for economy rooftop bike racks and that is exactly what I got. Got brand new racks at craigslist prices. They even installed them for free, which was awesome. Even though putting the bike holders on my factory bars was super easy, actually building the bike holders looked like a pain and I was happy that I didnt have to do it. I was in and out in about 90 minutes with my new racks ready to go. The installer was friendly and willing to help. There are signs for tipping, which some people are upset with. However I find most people will gladly tip someone for bringing them a plate of food, but would never tip someone for installing a roof rack, delivering a mattress, fixing your car, etc. Glad to see some companies are working to break down tipping stereotypes. I had very friendly and helpful service so my installer got a tip from me. Also, there is some killer food a block away so if you dont feel like sticking around the shop you can just walk down and have some lunch. read more

Incredible service. My Yakima bike rack broke after a year of use and my receipt was long gone, but ReRack worked with me to replace it free of charge (due to Yakima's lifetime warranty). I came in this morning at opening, at 10 AM, with my 11 month old son and a hodgepodge of gear consisting of an old Volvo (Thule manufactured) roof box, an old Yakima bike rack and a Yakima large Powderhound snowboard carrier. I was interested in figuring out how to mount these various components on my 2013 BMW X3 with the factory crossbars on the factory rails. Very helpful guys here! Very knowledgeable and even if you're a new rack owner like we are they'll make it easy for you to understand. The guy that helped us went so far as to explain what our rack needed in order to fit our car so that we wouldn't have to trade for an entirely new accessory and went outside to make sure himself the new attachment would work without hassle. We couldn't figure out how to collapse it after taking it off so he was kind enough to take more time and show us how to do that step as well. I bought a used set of Q towers and has some trouble installing when I got home. The screws were stripped. I brought them back and they replaced the parts and even replaced the towers to the correct model for my car at no charge! And they installed my rack and put new end caps on my bars. Very good people to do business with. My needs were basic; this was the alternative to combing Craigslist and driving all over to find a deal. Went in at lunchtime on a weekday, they saw me right away and were very helpful. It wasn't the fastest or the most over-the-top customer service experience I have ever had, but they were pleasant, offered me a bunch of throw-in goodies that I wouldn't have thought to ask for, and I drove away with my rack installed (for free) at a VERY reasonable price. Go when you have a few extra minutes, not on your way out the door to the mountain. A side note. There was a bit of an overcharge on my credit card for one of the items I bought, but the situation was handled so well over the phone that they turned it into an overall plus for the business (it probably would have been a four star review, but the manager I spoke to on the phone really bent over backward to make it right). I would say that when you are buying a combination of used and new stuff it is wise to check your receipt at the point of sale--I failed to do this. read more
