Non-Locals Beware: this business is not trained in proper ID verification, is hostile to out-of-state visitors, and will deny service even when presented with valid federal identification. This establishment will not serve you if you present anything other than a Michigan ID. They refuse to take federal IDs. If you have a passport card or global entry card steer clear. Wouldn't serve a group of 25-26 years olds with valid ID. It is guaranteed that passport cards/global entry cards have all information including photo, name, AND date of birth. Happily took our money elsewhere, check out LoLo's down the road for actual waterfront dining and great vibes! Alternative forms of identification such as tan expired ID/photo were not offered until after the server denied the global entry card. We also offered to call the cops to validate but the server wouldn't allow this and said they would not serve us regardless. We asked them to call the cops at least 5 times and each time they refused to do so. Why refuse to call the cops if you are so committed to following the law? This establishment does not welcome tourists and the management is clearly dishonest. For example see below where they link to a random website instead of the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission MCL 436.1701, Section 701 (11) (b) which covers valid identification (which lists passport and global entry cards as valid). Instead of just saying they won't serve tourists or made a mistake, they choose to lie and spread misinformation. They were never asked to "break the law". They were given valid federal identification but refused to accept it because of their ignorance, distaste for tourists, or more likely both. The owner is clearly misinformed on federal IDs including global entry cards administered by the department of homeland security. Which very clearly adheres with all requirements of State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission MCL 436.1701, Section 701 (11) (b) The management has responded multiple times. Unfortunately because of the blatant and repeated misrepresentation of Michigan law they have been reported to the MLLC due to their clear lack of fundamental knowledge that all license carriers should have. read more

I am giving this review specifically for breakfast. The truth is my wife and I have enjoyed our dinners here. Very good menu with a variety of choices. But... Breakfast was a different experience. We decided to go out for breakfast on Fathers day. We showed up just after 8am, and stood by the hostess table for a few minutes until I finally spoke up to the young lady folding something at a table next to the counter. She was completely zoned out. We were seated and I ordered the biscuits and gravy (my favorite dish), I also added wheat toast for $3. The toast was stale, literally stale! The gravy was just some white creamy tasteless...something, and there was not even close to enough to moisten the very dry biscuits. Honestly if I didn't order my eggs over easy it would have been dry toast with dry biscuits for breakfast. The hash browns, lukewarm warm temp just like the gravy. Disappointing! The server, I hope, was new because she didn't refill our coffees unless we flagged her down. She spent most of her time in the kitchen talking to the staff. You can't beat the location! It's so wonderful to sit outside and see the water. We have been walking the dog out to the beach and back and meaning to try this spot and finally got the chance on a Saturday morning. We had breakfast here and it wasn't too busy. They were so nice to bring water out for the dog. We got our drinks but too shortly after, but disappointingly the Bloody Mary was a bit watered down for my taste and I felt like it was more ice than liquid so I went through it pretty quick and then had a decaf coffee. I ordered the breakfast bowl with mushrooms, tomatoes and avocado and had the sausage gravy on the side. It was just ok in terms of flavor and took a little bit for the waitress to get me hot sauce as I was half done with my meal. My husband's steak and eggs were pretty much well done and we ordered medium. He took one bite and I took the rest home to give to the dog. I think we will pass on breakfast and give lunch or dinner a try. read more

My wife and I have been here several times. The food is good and the drinks are usually okay (though The Long Island Iced tea was a bit too lemony today). We had a server who was pretty new (but very friendly and attentive) and we ended up getting our appetizer at the same time as the meal. The manager handled it gracefully: she took the appetizer back and credited our bill. However, the server tip was computed on the price which included the appetizer. Honestly, this was a pretty minor thing in an overall nice dinner - but they really need a way to just remove an item from the bill so you don't pay a tip on it. The food is decent but so salty. The wait staff are kind and helpful. The inside seating is a little cramped but there is outdoor seating weather permitting. Our waitress was wonderful, however the manager/owner was unpleasant. We were seated outside and it started to rain. We asked to move inside and were given a seat from the many that were available. The manager came and told us we had to go back outside in the rain with our food. We were not welcome to sit at the available inside table. I was warned that the place isn't that great and has changed way to much over the years. I experienced something very different. I loved sitting at the bar and I enjoyed a few nice cocktails. Our bartender was very knowledgeable, pleasant, & attentive. Their cocktail menu is amazing! I started with an Orange Blossom & Hibiscus Spritz. I tried my partner's Bam-Ba-Lam. Very good too! We started with Bruschetta. It was good, but the bread they chose to serve us with was focaccia. It was really thick and way too much for this Italian appetizer. The menu states it comes with "parmesan crostini". We either were going to eat that and forfeit dinner, or forfeit the Bruschetta. We let the Bruschetta go. The wings were very good. I ordered the Greek Salad with grilled chicken. It was also very good. I will return and before I order the Bruschetta, I will ask what bread they are serving it with. The wings are it! We've now had dinner here a couple of times. The food is fantastic! The burgers are very good. I highly recommend the Popper. Other members of our party got a pesto chicken sandwich and loved them. A they have a pretty good drink menu to boot. The service has been good for us. Very friendly staff and there is a reason this place packs up for dinner. There is seating inside and out. Our first time here and it was great! It was a fun indoor/outdoor atmosphere which is accommodating to all age groups and party sizes. The menu may seem limited, but it was fantastic. The perch was some of the best I have ever had. There were plenty of servers that were very attentive to their tables. Well worth the 30 minute drive and we will be back. read more

The service here is great and the staff is super friendly. We went for a birthday and the staff gave us a card that they all signed and a free dessert which was very nice. That being said I felt like the bruschetta had too much onion in it and that over powered the dish. I also got the French onion soup and it was way too salty and it was mostly bread and no broth. We loved the rest of our food and the pizza was delicious but I will not be ordering those other 2 dishes again. I would recommended if you are looking for a new place to try! read more

Nice to have a "regular" food option back to the beach! Great service from the host to the food runners to our waitress. We got right in around 7:30 on a Friday night. We sat outside and the ambience was great being right by the water. My only complaint was a slight campfire smell wafting over from the campground next door, but not overwhelming. They also had some good music playing. Would love to see some live music on the corner of the patio sometime! We really liked the food. Hubby had a smothered T-Bone and I had the burger and both were great. Our starter was the cheese curds and they were light and melty and plentiful! The side marinara sauce would've been better if warm though. Lastly, drinks were good. I wanted the fruity slushy that comes with a plastic souvenir cup but didn't want to spend $12 for that. It would be nice to see a larger variety of cocktails offered. Oh! And bring some onion rings to the menu! Regardless of our selfish wants, we'll definitely go back to try other items. read more

I had the calamari with marinara, the fry on the calamari was good albeit a bit salty but I found the cold marinara to be inedible. It was more like oregano salsa and it was like nothing I ever had and not in a good way. They gave me some extra lemons and that was simple and good. Once the food came, we had to fight with the flies to stay away. We asked the staff if there was anything they could do?
