Returned to this lovely spot again on Saturday evening. It is about my fourth or maybe fifth time at this jewel. Not only is the food in my case marrow, steamed dumplings and Cha Gio simply wonderful in both flavor and in the manner that it is cooked, but it is excellently served by very friendly and capable, waiters and waitresses, who truthfully add a dimension to this fine establishment not to mention, of course, that the bartender himself comes out and asks if there is anything he can change for you in the drink that will make it more to your liking, which in my case was to change an old-fashioned from a Bullit Rye to a Sazerac. It really is a hidden gem and should not be missed as a dining experience in or around the energy corridor in West Houston. I would highly recommend it.

Decent food. I was really excited to try this place but I didn't think the pho (brisket & steak) was as flavorful. I added whatever I could to fix it but something was missing. We also got some pork spring rolls and thought they were very yummy. The service was very welcoming. All 3 servers checked up on us frequently which I appreciate. The restaurant was decorated nicely. I think I would come back and get a rice bowl next time.

Literally had to rip my son's arms off when he tried to eat the last grilled oyster.

Yelp commenters seem to rave about the Oysters, Bone Marrow and Wings here. Well Yelp commenters did not disappoint! Food was stellar and very flavorful. Service was just as great.

They had the best tofu I've ever tasted. Will definitely be back. I got the black pepper tofu salad

Love coming here. Bartenders are super cool, innovative and always making sure you leave satisfied. Resilience truly offers an incredible experience with delicious, authentic Vietnamese cuisine and top-tier service. AND you can catch some awesome specials on Monday, where their Happy Hour is all day. It's a must-visit spot if you're in the Memorial/Energy Corridor area.

My family and I visited Resilience on a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy. Parking was easy, the location is convenient, and the restaurant was very clean. The service was excellent--staff were super attentive and helpful. While the food wasn't extraordinary, it was still enjoyable. I ordered their version of bo ne (C.24 sizzling plate), and it was good! The pâté tasted slightly off, but overall the dish was satisfying. We also tried a slice of chocolate cake, which was delicious and generously portioned. The ambiance and atmosphere were wonderful, making it a great spot when you're craving Vietnamese food with an elevated dining experience.

This place is soo cute! They have a good lunch special to choose from. First viet kitchen we have been to with a bar was neat! All the servers were great and everything was very clean. Some prices were a bit steep for the standard cuisine but it was good.

I really wanted to like this place because I love the vibe and their drink menu, but my bf and I left feeling pretty disappointed. Service was good, drinks were decent, and parts of the dishes were delicious, but the entrees also had parts that were completely bland. It could've been a fluke, but it changed my mind in wanting to come back to try other menu items. Afterwards, I saw other reviews mention proteins being bland in their dishes, so it doesn't seem super rare. Thankfully, the proteins in our dishes were flavorful, it was the fried rice and veggies that had no flavor. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen. Are some people cooking veggies and others doing the meat, so the seasonings don't match up? Or did the person who cooked our dishes not know that veggies and fried rice need seasoning and flavor? It's unfortunate because the good parts of the dishes were really good. I guess you could ask for salt and just salt anything that comes out bland, but you really shouldn't have to. This isn't that important, but they have little lamps on all the tables, and ours must've been dying, because it was strobing and very distracting, so I turned it off. When a staff member would pass by, they'd turn it back on. After they walked away, I would then turn it off because I didn't want to say anything about it. They figured out it was dying and switched it out...with another dying, strobing lamp lol we had to go through 3 lamps in our hour-long dinner. FIRECRACKER SHRIMP: This was good, but basic. Nothing special. My bf ordered it thinking it was the saucy, spicy kind, like the name would suggest (he didn't see the pic on the menu), and was disappointed when these came out. "Why is it called firecracker?" He said lol I don't understand why it's called that either, because it's not that exciting of a dish. "Shrimp Egg Roll" or something would be more appropriate. BEEF UDON: The beef was really tender and flavorful. The noodles were delicious, more firm than soft. The veggies were completely bland. They didn't season them at all. Like not even a little bit of salt. I don't understand how that could've happened, but it really brought the dish down when it could've been amazing. BLACK PEPPER STEAK: The beef was so tender and flavorful, but the fried rice and veggies had no flavor. How was the fried rice bland?? It costs extra because it's supposed to be better than white rice, but we basically paid extra for white rice disguised as fried rice. This dish was already overpriced if it came out perfect. The fact that 2/3 of the dish was bland is unacceptable. XO PINEAPPLE CALAMARI: This was fine, not great. It was pretty mild, not super flavorful. Thankfully, not as bland as the veggies and fried rice, but definitely not worth $21. It was also not calamari. This should've been called a squid dish. Technically, "calamari" is Italian for squid, but this is a viet restaurant and this wasn't a traditional calamari dish. It was hard to tell what the dish looked like from the tiny pic, but after getting it, I wouldn't call it calamari. It felt like they named it that to make it sound more appealing than just a squid dish. Also, there wasn't that much squid in it. There were huge chunks of tomato and pineapple filling the plate to hide the fact that there wasn't that much squid. It's definitely overpriced for what it is. Loved the pineapple though (more than the squid). It wasn't too sweet or tart. DRAGON'S TAIL: It's good. You can taste the bourbon and smell the smoke while you drink. You don't taste the smoke though. The bitters do make it a little tart. DAN'S OLD FASHIONED: It tastes like bourbon, didn't really taste much else. I definitely didn't taste the pho spice infused syrup, which was disappointing, but it was a good standard bourbon drink.

Dinner Special: Vietnamese Freshwater Prawns in Roe Sauce

I've been here quite a few times when visiting my Mom who live nearby. It is now my Mom's favorite restaurant in her neighborhood. The food here always seems fresh, tasty and well made. What I've tried here... * Firecracker Shrimp -- Hot, fresh & crispy. Good shareable small plate. * HH Oysters -- 1/2 dozen. Baked with garlic butter or bone marrow style. Both really good and tasty. * Hot Wings -- Fried Chicken wings with a simple fish sauce, lime and garlic marinade. Sweet, tangy & savory. * Salad with Grilled Meat -- Fresh mixed green salad, tomato, cucumber & carrot with a nice and light house vinaigrette dressing. I've tried the grilled pork slices with the signature Vietnamese fish sauce marinade, as well as the Lemongrass Beef. Both are excellent. The pork and beef were both quite tender and flavorful. I especially like lemongrass spice, so the beef would be my first choice. If you aren't on a low glycemic diet like me, you would probably also enjoy the selection of grilled meats with rice, rice vermicelli, or Toasted French bread options ;) * Pho Noodle Soup -- Very authentic and flavorful rice noodle soup dishes with a nice selection of meats, chicken, vegetables or tofu. Nice tasty broth. * Featured Special: Vietnamese Freshwater Prawns in Roe Sauce -- Super fresh freshwater Prawns in an umami, lip smacking sauce. Wow! We learned they don't use MSG here, and they try to use honey and fruit juice instead of lots of refined sugar as their sweetener of choice. They have a full bar. Good selection of drinks including cocktails, beer and wine. They also feature a special Happy Hour menu every weekday (M-F) 2-6:30pm and all day Monday with discounted drinks and small plates. So glad they opened in this neighborhood so we don't have to make the long trek over to Chinatown for solid Vietnamese food with so many choices.

They managed to keep the same relaxed neighborhood vibe people love while giving it a much more modern, polished, and upscale feel. The updated design, lighting, TVs and overall atmosphere look incredible and make the space feel fresh without losing its personality. They still have the spinning drink wheel! The outdoor seating especially feels elevated now and makes for the perfect Houston brunch spot or night out. One of the best parts about NextDoor is that it's connected to Hungry's, which means you get full access to their menu while enjoying the lounge atmosphere. Being able to order everything from cocktails and appetizers to full meals while at a bar is a game changer. The food is consistently good, the drinks are strong (especially the frozen options) well-made, and everything comes out quickly. What keeps me coming back year after year is the consistency. The staff has always been welcoming and attentive, the crowd is chill, and it never feels overly pretentious or chaotic. It's one of those rare spots that works for everything, whether it's happy hour after work, date night, catching up with friends over drinks on the patio or a solo adventure. Love seeing a longtime Houston favorite continue to evolve while still delivering the same great experience that's kept me coming back for years. Definitely one of my go-to spots on Memorial Drive. My only suggestion is to tell the younger staff members to be conscious of their conversations while guest are dining nearby. I love people watching but I heard a lot of things. It appears Hungry's uses the bar area like a break/training room or to do other tasks like rolling utensils in napkins.

Second, I discovered that they're owned by the same people behind Masraff's. That's a good start. They're located in a shopping center with several other businesses, including a cat vet right next door. While it was busy, I didn't have trouble finding a parking spot. Ambiance (4/5): This is part of where By Popular Demand (BPD) shines. The interior is trendy, with both tabletop seating and more comfortable chairs and sofas. There's a small patio in the front and a larger one on the side. There aren't a ton of seats inside, so think of it as a smaller, more intimate bar. Service (3.5/5): A little slow to start out with as it took our waitress a good while to come and take our order (we were sitting on the front patio). She did apologize for the delay, and she was friendly from there on out, so things improved throughout our evening there. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so I was on a liquid diet. I have heard they have a pretty awesome steak night on Mondays though. Next time around! Drinks (3.5/5): While they have a full bar, BPD is a cocktail bar. They have 10-12 craft cocktails, plus everything else you would expect at a bar. I went with That Cucumber Drink. I'm always a fan of any cocktail that incorporates cucumber. It was one of the few items on the menu that stood out to me. A decent number of of the offerings are more of your standard cocktails (margaritas, ranch waters, etc.) and a good number have brown liquor (while I prefer clear liquor). Not the best menu for my taste, but that's not to say it's not a solid menu. Next time around, I'll have to stop by for steak night or to try out their food menu.

We ordered a burger to the servers recommendation and it was really really good. Served with french fries that were cooked perfectly. We ordered a round of cocktails and then a high noon and a beer. I noticed that a lot of people were leaving in between the bands set and it was due to the young Dj playing really obscene hip-hop music full of profanity and the Nword. I'm not a Karen by any means I am Hispanic Caucasian mixed and my spouse is African-American for reference. 34& 40 years old so much younger than the band and the patrons that specifically went there to see them, but nonetheless felt very disrespected. The music was beyond out of place. A DJs job is to play to the crowd- read the room- and typically when there's a band playing the DJ will play corresponding music to keep the crowd engaged in between the sets. We literally watched others make remarks and leave which is very disappointing when a band came out there to play and lost their crowd. While they were on stage, many people were dancing, recording and having a great time. I brought it to the servers attention and another one that said he was the assistant manager. He acknowledged the he noticed the music and mentioned to the dj "that the music shouldn't have Bword this Bword that". But even after he had mentioned that to him because he had seen him earlier speaking to the Dj since our table was directly to the side the Dj did not heed to his remarks nor change the music. This was an extremely disappointing part of the evening we left and went somewhere else after we ate.
