    Lighting makes everyone look better

This is a hidden treasure tucked in on a side street across from Rittenhouse Square! We had dinner at 6:30 on a weekday night, and it was the perfect elegant townhouse where one could meet someone for a drink and stay for a glorious dinner afterwards. The ambience is glorious! You feel like you've walked into some elegant Parisian bar. My ginger, pineapple mocktail was stupendous! The menu is broken into cold and hot starters, and then mains and then desserts. It's the kind of place that just has enough variety without being overwhelming, which I think gives the kitchen the ability to focus on delivering spectacular results. Started with the golden beet salad, which looked like it could've been a main on its own! It was huge, fresh and amazing, and it was followed by scallops on a spring pea risotto with a turnip Crema topped by crispy kale. I've never had such crispy, shattering kale that added the right amount of texture and a hint of acid to a dish. We didn't have space for dessert, but this kind of place makes me want to come back again and try everything else. Should be mentioned that the service, from the person who welcomed us to our server, radiated warmth and kindness, something not all RS establishments can say for themselves. Highly recommend!

Very solid restaurant! It has a great location since it's near Rittenhouse and easily walkable. I ordered the mussels and salmon. The mussels were okay, there were a LOT of mussels but the meat inside was small. They also only gave two pieces of toast that were not enough for the number of mussels they gave and also a little burnt. The vibe inside was very cute! The staff were extremely nice but service was slow and it was hard to flag down a waiter when needed. We waited quite a bit in between or apps and entrees.

Saturday afternoon in the city and I randomly strolled by and decided to pop in for a drink. The stoop felt like the perfect place to sit, relax, and read a book that I couldn't put down. Ended up ordering the Paris is Burning. Well balanced cocktail with a fun foam on top. Staff were awesome and very friendly. We chatted about books and cocktails. They know the menu well and provided top tier service. I'll have to pop back in to try the food.

For context we were here for Valentine's Day which was also the day of the Eagles Parade so I'm sure tensions were high. Our reservation was for 7:30pm, we got there at 7:15 and we were not sat until around 9pm. At first we were told we could go somewhere else and they would text us when the table was ready but we eventually saw two seats at their bar open up and we sat and talked with people while drinking their espresso martini. The staff were all very positive and helpful and we were really impressed. As for the food and drinks: The espresso martini would have been better without the nutmeg in our opinion but if you really like that flavor then go for it. It seemed a bit over powering to us. We also got a Valentine's Day special cocktail which was great and midnight in Budapest which was delicious. The milk buns were awesome, the beef tartare was a 10/10. Happy with the oysters. Lobster ravioli was a little spicier than we were anticipating but it was good. Duck foie gras was good but I don't think I would get it again. The grass fed ribeye was STAND OUT. delicious and cooked perfectly with an amazing sauce. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were served a bit colder than I feel they should have been but tasted great. The tiramisu was good but I would skip their cheesecake. All in all it was a really unique experience but I think $340 for two people was a little over priced for what we got. It was also disappointing how long we ended up waiting after our reservation. I don't think I would go back but I don't totally regret going. The only other thing I would note is that 20% gratuity was automatically added to the check which may have been due to the holiday, but keep in mind so you don't mistakingly tip 40%

Amazing food and service! A hidden gem! Fantastic cocktails (Budapest), appetizers (beet salad, crab), entries (scallops, halibut) and desert (layered chocolate mouse ... and mixed fruit)... and expresso. Ambiance was very pleasant ... not too loud... able to have nice conversations.

Blink and you'll miss this elegant eastern European restaurant nestled at the northern end of Rittenhouse Square. I visited on a Wednesday for their Restaurant Week lunch after immediately being enamored by their menu options online. I had an absolutely lovely experience for my meal! My drink had the flavor profile of a margarita, which was a sweet balance to my entree. The Chicken Schnitzel itself was a very large portion, and both the jalapeno and hot honey garnish provided a delicious kick. At first I was concerned that the size would be too small from online photos, but looks were deceiving! It was very filling, and made for a great entree before the Strawberry Graham Parfait Cake. The dessert itself was very light, airy, and made for an excellent finish to the meal. Wanted to also shoutout the service as well during my meal, where my waitress always checked in throughout the meal and gave great suggestions for my drink of choice. I didn't feel rushed even with a busy restaurant, and would definitely revisit for a dinner and extended meal.

Great happy hour at bar until 7pm. Cocktails are delicious and great food choices. Bartenders were friendly and the space is cozy.

Ive been a few times and am impressed with this up-and-comer! Friendly but classy and well informed staff. A great space with interesting character, and all food has been tasty. Great date spot I would imagine. And if you catch the dapper manager guy... Michel, was his name I think?... he's smoother than a sommelier at a Ritten-steakhouse!

Our first time dining here-so good! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing! And because it was a Friday in the summer, we lucked out that it was not crowded.

We came here for our annual siblings holiday dinner and had an amazing experience. While we had a reservation (for 5), luck was on our side (twice) as we arrived early (thanks to finding good parking easily) and they were able to seat us a few minutes early. I'll shake things up by talking about service first. From end to end, service was top notch. Our waiter seemed to know perfectly when to swing by to check in and take our orders versus giving us room to talk. The bartend was on point with the making of our drinks even with the busy dinner crowd. We never reached the bottom of our water glasses. And they provided honest and accurate recommended for us to enjoy. The cocktails were fun and tasty. The presentation, including smoking at the table, of the One slip at a Time was unique. Certainly worth getting if you like whiskey or bourbon. The Midnight in Budapest was such a hit we ended up getting about 3 over the evening. If you like sweeter, the Passion Lounge is for you. Food quality was great and the portions more than fair. If I had to pick just one app to highlight it would be the Octopus. Likewise, for mains, I'd recommend the scallops. We usually try somewhere new for our annual siblings dinner, however, we might repeat Aleksandar at some point. I know I'll certainly be making around reservation for myself sometime well before than. Enjoy!

We went on Valentine's Day and it was clearly overbooked and understaffed - we waited about an hour for our 7:15 reservation and finally got seated at around 8:30. Having to put a credit card down to book a reservation and then running an hour behind is crazy. That being said, the staff working were very friendly and clearly working hard - must have been a decision of upper management because the servers/ bartenders/ hostess were trying their best! Everything about the experience showed that this is a restaurant that is trying really hard without quite meeting the mark. The aesthetic and ambience were good, but the seating was really crowded and the paintings were hideous. They had cute heart napkins for the holiday and they changed out the silverware with the courses, but I honestly think people would have preferred to be sat faster and have been fed quicker in place of a lackluster "fine dining" experience. The food was ok at best, nothing really stood out as being exceptional. I think it would probably be better given the opportunity to select beyond the prix fixe menu. I will say that the cocktails were excellent! I would probably come back and give it another chance, but this experience was definitely a little bit underwhelming.

Came here twice, once for brunch and once for Restaurant Week. Although brunch was OK, the restaurant week visit IMPRESSED me. The food was absolutely amazing and really showcased the chef's talents. Highly recommend!

You may have to fold your mirrors in to hit cars, I'm not exaggerating. I had envisioned a larger restaurant but this was small with maybe 7 tables. We sat at one with padded wooden benches that was comfortable. We were the only customers when arrived for lunch. The menu is limited and the waitress was as authentic as the food. There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes. They were cooked to perfection and the sour cream was the perfect condiment. They do have limited drinks here, including bottled water, cans of Pepsi and diet Pepsi, and some unique bottled drinks like birch water. The biggest drawback for the spot was that I just didn't think it was as clean as I would've liked it to be. It is authentic and as you eat, there is a man in the back that you can see making pierogies by hand. I'm glad that we tried this, but I'm not sure that I would return.

We loved the escargot (swimming in garlicky butter), rabbit leg (falling off the bone) with flavorful pickled kraut and sausage and carrots, but our favorite was the curried goat stew, which was so tender and delicious. The chocolate bark for dessert and pineapple brioche pudding were the perfect way to end the meal! Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

We pulled into a shopping plaza and saw our destination - Suzani. I had never eaten in an Uzbeki restaurant - our friends, who had eaten there before said "...come hungry!" They recommended a few appetizers - we ordered the Potato with Mushrooms, Eggplant Salad, Achichuk, and Kutab. Let's start with the Potato with Mushrooms - which the menu describes as "Fried Potato Slices with Pan Roasted Mushrooms and Onions. It should say "Potato Chips with Pan Roasted Mushrooms". It was a very unusual dish, to say the least. While the chips were homemade and tasty, having roasted mushrooms and onions with them didn't work at all for me. It was difficult scooping mushrooms onto the chips - and the combination was not that tasty. The mushrooms and onions would have been better by themselves. Once the chips got soggy from the mushrooms, it was very unappetizing. Next, the Eggplant Salad - which was fried eggplant, red and green pepper, tomato, Korean style carrots, garlic and cilantro served in a soy sauce. It tasted fine - I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but the veggies tasted fresh and I had some of the bread they served with it. The next appetizer was Achichuk, which is a traditional Uzbek salad of thinly sliced tomatoes, hot peppers and onions. I did not taste the dish, but was told it was okay for spiced fresh tomatoes. The last appetizer was Kutab - which was a flattened shell, which tasted and resembled the exterior of a fried dumplings, with meat and onions on the inside. It was super thin, and tasted okay. We ordered our main dishes after we finished the appetizers. The couple we were with both ordered the Salmon Kabobs - I tasted the salmon, it tasted good, and was tender. I ordered the Lamb kabobs - the lamb was tender, but it was a little too salty. However, when I had a piece of the lamb with the saffron rice, it diminished the saltiness of the lamb and tasted fine. My partner ordered the Filet Mignon kebab. It did not come with the other 3 orders - the sever said it would be out momentarily. Almost 15 minutes later, I was amazed my partner didn't have her entree! I gave the server a 'look' - she went in the back and FINALLY brought out my partner's dish. The meat (Filet Mignon) was tough and difficult to chew. I took a piece of my Lamb kabob to compare - my lamb was very tender compared to the steak! Not only was the order overly delayed - it was below average. While the other dishes were acceptable - they were mediocre. I would like to point out we were there during the dinner hour and we were the ONLY patrons there during the entire dinner. I wasn't surprised.

Imagine our surprise, that while in town for business, and with time to kill before an art exhibition, we discovered an Uzbeki restaurant. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted and led to a large comfortable booth in the back of the restaurant. The lighting was warm, the walls were adorned with beautiful rugs, and the customers' spirits were high. Each table had been pre-set with the resutarant's lovely plates and crystal drinkware. Given that this was our first time at an Uzbeki eatery, we asked our server for some suggestions. Upon doing so, she then asked us if we prefer meat or fish. After perusing the menu a bit more and taking her suggestions into consideration, we had decided to order a wide array of sorts, opting for the pickled herring and potato appetizer, some Tandoori Samsas, a bowl of the Kharcho soup, and an order of the Guyru Dumplings. Our dishes were brought out promptly and our server made sure to check on us periodically throughout our meal, at one point even offering to allow the kitchen to split some of our dishes up for us to make it easier to share with one another. The pallet of flavors we were presented with was colored and wonderful; the pickled hairing playing a perfect duet with the hearty roasted potatoes, pairing well balanced acidity and perfectly crisp potatoey goodness, the kharcho simultaneously lightly spicy and fully refershing with that dill coming throough alongside juiicy chunks of lamb, and the the delectable dumplings, swimming in a flavorful bath of broth and sour cream. As we were nearing fullness, we realized we had forgotten to add one more piece to this meal...the dessert! After this realization, we decided to share a piece of wonderfully sticky Phaklava, adorned with and generously filled with walnuts and golden raisans. Suzani Restaurant is not to be missed. It is a dining experience that makes me feel like you've been invited into someone's home, but also that you are sitting down for a royal banquet. Be sure to check it out if you ever find yourself in the area. 5/5 stars

As a lovely bonus, they serve complimentary warm mini rolls with a unique butter that tastes like a creamy, seasoned spread, almost like a flavored cream cheese or infused butter. It makes the rolls absolutely irresistible. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the food but I have a video where we are celebrating our friend's birthday. Look how friendly is staff and chef! And all people who were in the restaurant. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the overall experience.

We did our usual, apps, entrees and dessert. I mean that's only fair in doing a proper review. For apps we had the fried artichokes, Italian eggrolls and stuffed long hots. Eggrolls were my favorite. They were like a mini roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich but in a tiny package. So good. The artichokes were good but for the price I would pass it was mostly arugula. Long hots were spicy and stuffed. Hubs like them. Steak sandwich was good. Not dry. Now to the pizza. I enjoyed the prosciutto and fig pizza more than the margarita but only because of the salty sweet contrast. So good. Pizza crust had a nice chew. Dessert was good. I like the citrus flavor of the ricotta cheesecake a lot. If I was in the area I would go back.

The restaurant and bar have dark wood with soft lighting. It was a relaxing atmosphere. The host/server was super nice. He brought water over and took our order. I've walked by here many times, but yesterday was my first time actually going in. I visited with a fellow Yelp Elite and one of her co-workers for Happy Hour. We were seated at a table near the bar and our server, who was also at the host podium, was Dontay. He was the kindest and sweetest man. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We each opted to get one drink and no food. If you want to get the wind knocked out of you after one drink, this is your spot. The drinks were STRONG. I ordered the Market Street Muse and I could barely taste the limoncello. The vodka and basil were the most prominent flavors. I was feeling good. I'm rating this establishment four stars because the drinks on The Philadelphia Cocktail Trail were essentially existing drinks they had on their current menu but with different names. Same ingredients. I was hoping to see something new or related to America's 250th. Overall, though, the space was very calm and clean and I enjoyed being there. All the menu items sounded great, too. I'll have to pop in here for a bite to eat next time.
