Went there for their Machitos and the beef flautas and a horrible experience. My advice is to stay away from this location. Go across the street to PLAYA MAYA for food. I ordered the Machitos which were the worse I have ever seen or tasted. They must have been pre cooked the day before and microwaved. They were not freshly cooked and were cold. I sent them back and requested the same as my spouse, the flautas. To my surprise they were just as horrible as the canbrito. The meat was extremely dry and they were pre made and microwaved. The only fresh thing on our plates were the tomato and lettuce. They claim to except credit cards so I gave them my Amex and was told that it was not excepted. So I paid cash and come to find out they don't take Amex, yet they claim credit cards excepted period. I Will not recommend this business ever read more

A decent experience that has plenty of room for improvement but gets the job done as well. Walking in, it had a good balance of being tex mex in theme, but plenty of Mexicans were eating here. Service was great, and the waiter did a good job pacing his presence. He could have came around with more water, but I was also very thirsty that day. The Ground beef Nachos were good, but Id say give it a few minutes before diving into the dish. On the first few bites, the cheese was completely sliding off the chip. Beef Quesadillas are just OK. They don't do any special seasoning with the outside of the tortilla. Nor is there anything that gives this an extra edge. Its just standard shredded beef and cheese inside the quesadilla. They give you a decent amount of guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo around the plate to spruce it up. Chips and Salsa were standard. The salsa was actually pretty hot, which I like. The chips could have been a touch thicker to my taste, but they were golden brown and tasted great. I cant help to feel the Horchata is made from a packet mix here, but it had enough of that chalky cinnamon and rice taste along with a good amount of sweetness for me to still like it. The Beef Flauntas were probably my favorite part of the meal. They fry these to a golden brown crisp! They may not as pretty as other places, but they bring the crunchy, greasy goodness! Overall, I had higher hopes for this place, but considering ts Tex Mex in Ft Worth, its certainly better than the overpriced, over glorified margarita bar that is Meso Maya. We wanted to eat after visiting the stockyards but did not want to deal with the throngs of people so we ventured just a few blocks away and found this place which was not crowded at all. The ambience reminded me of a restaurant in Mexico, right down to the menus with peeling plastic and updated prices taped on. There is a good variety of dishes to choose from, with a nice representation of genuine Mexican food that real Mexicans eat. We, however, opted for Tex-Mex. The margaritas are made with an artificial juice instead of real limes, so we've been spoiled by Marianos. The wife ordered the enchiladas and they were good but not fantastic. She got ground beef inside, one with salsa verde and one with sour cream sauce for $8.99. My chicken fajita nachos likewise were good but the meat was not cooked over flame so it lacked that smoky goodness. Still, they were good nachos that came with guac, sour cream, jalapeños, pico, tomato slice, and a slice of onion. I could not eat them all--8 to an order for $11.49. Our server was friendly and helpful, no complaints. The parking lot, such as it is, is very small so it is best to do street parking. This place is amazing! There is nothing fancy about it, but it lacks nothing. First off, we were warmly greeted when we walked in. The staff was pleasant and nice the entire time. The chips and salsa were solid. They weren't the best I've ever had but would be happy in any mex restaurant to get them. I had the torta. It was honestly a top 5 sandwich ever for me and that's saying something. It had so many different kinds of meat in it. It walked right up to the edge of being too much but everything complimented each other. The bonus was this thing was humongous. I am a big eater and ate half. My wife had the chicken chimichanga. This is her standard go to fare in Mexican restaurants. She said this was hands down the best one she's ever had. She was sad she could only eat half. They give you attitude for asking simple questions and I asked for extra salsa and was told "I'll bring you more when you finish what I gave you". This place is a solid four. I went for lunch with some co-workers and it was pretty empty. I'm new to the Stockyards area so I'm learning about all the little gems and this is definitely one of them. The chips they set out at the table are warm and fresh and I love that they provide separate bowls for double dipping your own salsa :). They have a nice list of lunch specials, from which I ordered the beef fajitas. The meat was tender, veggies were hot and fresh as well. I got a side of onions and cilantro to make some tacos and it was delicious. Love that they also give you pico which isn't traditionally provided with a fajita plate in my past experiences. I opted for no beans and guac but the rice was some of the best Mexican rice I've ever had. I finished my plate and was satisfied for a few hours. We thought we'd try a Mexican restaurant that we have not been to and decided on Nuevo León based on the Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. In it's architectural style and and ambiance NL is one of those old style Mexican restaurants which really appeals to us. It's the 1940's and 1950's Mexican restaurant look of Fort Worth and San Antonio, and so many others. The chips were warm and the salsa tastes quite fresh with just the right amount of heat to suit me. I had the cheese enchiladas with rice and retried beans. The cheese enchiladas were stuffed full cheese and topped by a typical ground beef chili sauce. Very tasty. The rice was typical as were the beans, but the flavor of the beans was remarkably good leading me to suspect that they are prepared with actual lard. My wife has the chile rellenos covered with a light colored queal sauce. The poblano was large and appeared to be fresh. The dish was quite tasty and what I will order next visit. I had a schooner of Dos Equis draft. The glass is rimmed with salt and the bar added fresh lime juice. One demanded a second! LOL. The service was excellent. Our server was perfectly attentive and a couple other employees checked on us to see how things were. We definitely will visit again soon taking one of our Mexican food loving dining companions friends with us next time. read more

It was good, the meat was tender and the beans were fresh and delicious! The appetizer "Queso Flameado"was my FAVORITE"!! I could of just eaten this with flour tortillas as a meal! YUM! Also tried the sopapilla w/cinnamon ice cream, they were warm and were very good. They served syrup with them, which I prefer honey. Don't judge this restaurant by it's outside! It's clean and nice inside. Very spacious. The chips were crispy and the salsa was tasty. My cheese loving daughter had to have queso. It was really good. They have a couple of seafood soups, carnes, some tex mex, and fish. When you walk in, you can see a goat being cooked. You can get the whole cabrito for $25. I got the Chile Relleno with chicken. The description didn't state how it was cooked. For some reason I didn't ask either. It came battered, which I don't like. My bad. After scraping the batter off, it was pretty good. My husband got the whole fish with al mojo sauce. Al mojo is a garlic sauce. There is 3 other sauces for the fish too. The whole fish comes with rice and vegetables. My husband said it was right up my alley with the little bits of garlic on it. He was right, I tasted the fish and loved it. He's not a fan of garlic ever since Google told him to suck on a clove for a tooth ache. Lol. Half way into the meal we switched. The best fish I've had around here. Kids had Beef Fajitas for Two (21.99) which came with long thick strips of tender flank steak, marinated in lime juice, salt, and pepper. The steak was fork-tender and juicy, exactly as you would expect at a place that so clearly knows meat. You order your Cabrito Al Pastor here as you do in Mexico -- by the part of the goat you want: breast, ribs, or leg. Ribs come with a kidney -- BONUS!!! :) Hubby had the leg of goat which is milder in flavor, with more meat. The meat was very tender and juicy -- absolutely delicious. I had the goat ribs, which were better than the ones I had in Mexico. These ribs were juicy, smoky, flavourful, and roasted without a lot of spices to compete with the meat. Salt is all that was used, and the result was sublime. The bonus kidney was delicate, sweet, and creamy, and came with more fat than I expected -- but it was all Y-U-M. Repeat visit to one of our favorite restaurants for authentic Mexican food (not Tex-Mex). We started with the Ceviche Regio, a traditional blend of marinated fish, onion, and jalapeños over a bed of lettuce. For entrees, I had the Catfish Al Mojo, a large filled, covered with roasted garlic, which came with fries and a small salad, while P had beef fajitas, which came with guacamole, sour cream, rice & refried beans. We also added a small guacamole and a cheese Chile Rellano with Verde sauce. Everything came out essentially at once, forcing us to quickly finish the ceviche before the rest of the food cooled off, and waiter misunderstood that I wanted an ala carte chili rellano instead of a full platter (which we were charged for, even after bringing it to the writer's attention). The food was deserving of 5 stars, but the service was definitely only a 3 on this visit, which was surprising, since service on previous visits was much better.
