Mismaloya offers a much more laid back version of the PV beach lifestyle. It's smaller, quieter, and as far as I'm concerned, superior to it's busy northern neighbor. But it does have one thing in common, and that's the strip of beach restaurants/bars that front the sandy bay. You can't miss them, primarily because when you park your car (or hop off the bus) and walk down to the beach, a representative from one of the 5 or 6 spots down here will find out and tout you to use their chairs, drink their drinks, and eat their food.
My mistake was simply choosing this place. Sure the guy was nice, he was amenable to us using both lounge chairs and a table, and made drinks with the quickness. He even went so far as to add hibiscus flowers to the ladies' first drinks, a charming touch. This is the second in a series of joints along the beach. And while we were one of the first groups to sit at any of the spots, we soon found out that the locals know what's up, at least as far as food goes.
The other joints on the beach quickly filled up with people enjoying their food and drinks, and our restaurant stayed woefully empty (ish) with just us and one or two other groups. When we got our food we figured out why. Not great. Not great at all. Fish tacos, bleh. Quesadillas, just okay. Chips and pico? ehhhhh.
In the end we drank a fraction of what we had consumed the day prior in PV, and ate less as well, and our bill was exactly, to a T, the same price. Way too spendy for what we got.
The dude running this joint was so nice that I feel bad giving them a bad review but the food was really bad and the drinks overpriced. Even compared to the overpriced joints in PV. Boo. read more
