Great meal! We waited only Ten minutes at the bar and were then proceeded to our table. The server Jess was most patient as we asked way too many questions. We started with classic shrimp cocktail and oysters Rockefeller to set the evening. The Hoboken bread was, as usual, superbly cooked. People can screw up bread...Next up was the eggplant bisque soup. Wow! Perfectly spiced and a great in between dish for what was to follow. I was a bit impatient and inquired where the meal was forgetting that a rack of lamb talked a tad longer...my apologies to Jess... Our entrees were perfectly cooked rack of lamb with a side of broccoli rabe which also came with pencil points pasta perfectly prepared. The lamb was just the right temperature and not over seasoned. The Mrs. Loved it and my taste was to die for. I had a stunningly presented row of six beautiful scallops sprinkled with slivers of mango, on a splash of balsamic reduction with wasabi dipping sauce. It came with beautifully seasoned grilled asparagus. We finished up with Joe Derricos Revere chocolate cake which we took home and the classic Tartufo...which we shared. What an evening! I was so excited to try it here because of all the good reviews I read. I was shocked when I started drinking and eating because looking at the reviews I was thinking this place was going to be really good since it's crowded but it wasn't even kind of good! I never write reviews but I spent good money and wanted a better food experience. The drinks were incredibly average, apps and dinner was just so blah. My favorite thing was my side Caesar salad. Last night was my fourth trip back to Revere in two months. The food is fantastic. If you are looking for a night out with friends or family this is a good place. I read reviews that called the service slow, I prefer to call the service properly spaced. It's refreshing to find a place that does not rush you out the door. The bread was instantly on the table and our beverages came quickly. I cannot stress enough, this is not a place you want to skip dessert. If you are too full, take it to go! The Tiramisu, the bread pudding, and the chocolate ganache cake are not to be missed! So if you want a couple hours to relax and enjoy a deliciously thought out meal I highly recommend Revere. read more

This place is an institution. The food is pretty consistent and good. My wife likes it as a go to place for Italian. It is all in the sauce I am told. They have good specials. The bread is unique and filling so make sure you take it easy on that. I think you can get half orders of pasta if you dont need to stuff yourself which is good. Years ago we had a problem with a server and they gave us a voucher to come again which we did and have ever since too. That is the mark of a place that is good. They are interested in their customers coming again and are willing to do something about it. read more

BEST Italian food I have had !!!! Fresh!! Delicious!! Had the mussels in red sauce for an appetizer with their house garlic bread, BEST EVER!! I had the half portion (2nd time) of the rigatoni vodka which comes with a salad and he had the half portion of the cannelloni which comes with a salad as well.. We also got a bottle (they offer bottles or by the glass) of pinot noir ($25) and it was honestly FABULOUS!!! Can Not Wait To Come Back!!! DELICIOUS!! What a fabulous lunch I had there on Monday! From the smiling bartender seating us to the friendly and helpful waitress to the amazing food- great experience. We were in a little bit of a hurry and the service pace was perfect. We ordered off the 10 for 10 specials and they were delicious! I got the flank steak over mashed potatoes and my guests got the Cajun chicken and Italian meatloaf- not a bite left over it was so good. Our server finished off our lunch telling us about the killer happy hour and daily dinner specials and provided us with take home dinner and lunch menus. Highly recommend this restaurant for business or pleasure and we are definitely trying out dinner. read more

What a great meal! Make a reservable go! We celebrated a birthday here Saturday night with eight people. We were promptly seated and then the fun began. Drink orders were taken and two plates of their great bread were consumed. We had a mix of entrees including beef, chicken and veal. All were absolutely incredible! Shame on me,food is terrific, with the demise of quality Italian places I believe Joey and his crew are up in the tops spots. Clam casino spot on(maybe 8 instead of 6),the best fish fish in ages halibut w virus glade over fresh spinach and shoestring potatoes great dish, veal parm delish size of a manhole cover, sauce great. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to bring us our drinks. They were actually made but sat at the bar. The waiter was in no rush. My steak was not terrible but very dry. My cut was very different than the rest of the table. It was extremely loud in the room they placed us. Everything took very long. I don't like to be rushed but 3+ hrs. is way too long. read more

I have lived in the area for most of my 50+ years and have eaten at many other Italian restaurants in the past. It was my birthday so my friend suggested we try Revere. Let me first by saying the wait staff was outstanding, the bread delicious but unfortunately the rest of the food was sub par for the prices they charge. Service was slow, salads were soggy and my veal parm tasted a tad on the burnt side. Wow! Probably the best meal I've had out in some time. First visit here & definitely won't be the last. Made a reservation on a whim on a Saturday night for 630, arrived about 15 minutes early and were still seated right away. Hostess, server and those bringing out the food were all pleasant. So, after a two year absence, I've been going to the Revere for about a month. I am VERY pleased with the updates the new owners have made to the building. It is clean, well lit and the ambiance is quite nice. For atmosphere, I give them a 4.5. As to service, in addition to grabbing a drink from time to time, I have had five dining experiences at the restaurant - four at the bar and one at a table. I don't like making a blanket statement on one data point, so I'm not going to ding them too badly on the poor table service I received from one waitress who was ready to go home a half hour before I arrived. The service I have received at the bar is a solid 5 out of 5. The bartenders certainly know how to take care of their customers! They are prompt, courteous and will go out of their way to get your drink right. They do NOT over pour, they pour a fair drink for a fair price. Now, unfortunately, on to the food. This is where the restaurant falls down - hard. As I said, I've eaten here five times recently and NONE of the meals have been outstanding. In fact, none of them have been particularly good. I've had a couple of apps: the bourbon beef crostini was super tender, but it had zero flavor and the eggplant fritto was sent out BURNED. Sure, things get burned in a kitchen, but who sends out burned food? This was a huge red flag. I've also had a couple of full meals: steak and Bronzino. The steak was cooked properly to temperature, but the only flavor was some bitter sauce the poured over it. Not at all appetizing. Finally, the Bronzino was cooked nicely, but again - no flavor. The risotto was over cooked and was more like mush. The theme from the kitchen is a lack of flavor. Nothing tastes particularly bad, it's all just really poorly or under seasoned. I think the last time I had food this bland, I was visiting my mother-in-law in the nursing home. Food: Two stars - two and a half on their very best night. Bottom line - go to the Revere. The bar service is excellent, the drinks are done right, the beer is cold, the entertainment is decent and the atmosphere is wonderful - just hit Wawa, Burger King or McD's on your way... read more

I broke my cardinal rule about not dining out on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. I made 6:30 reservations for Christmas Eve figuring that it would avoid the big evening rush. I was correct. We were seated promptly as soon as we walked in. The restaurant was only about 1/2 filled at that point. When we sat, we were handed a paper limited menu for the evening consisting of about 6 apps and six entrees. When I made the reservation I would have loved to have been told about the limited menu. I had downloaded the regular one to show my wife and son and they were excited about ordering certain things that were now not being served tonite. We gave the waitress our drink order and she promptly disappeared. Our drinks arrived about 15 minutes later. We still were not given any bread to pick on. We ordered.................and sat with absolutely nothing in front of us to nosh on for 45 minutes. We had asked for bread earlier and were told that it would be coming. My son who is 10, was now bored, tired, and very hungry, as were we. My wife finally asked if we could be served SOMETHING, maybe our salads and maybe some bread and about 5 minutes later bread, their salads, and my appetizer came out. We had been sitting there for almost an hour. The waitress apologized saying that they were slammed in the kitchen. I was a waiter and know that the wait staff gets their own salads and bread.....the chefs don't dole it out to them. We finished our first course and promptly waited another 20 to 30 minutes before anything else came out. I came very close to walking into the kitchen to grab the chef and show him where our table was and to make sure that he made us some food to give to the waitress. It got to the point that I actually considered walking out and going somewhere else but the realization that at this point, it was not an option because it was too late to drive somewhere else. Our main course arrived finally an hour and 45 minutes after we arrived. The food was really good but the experience completely negated it. Quite frankly, our nice Christmas Eve out was completely ruined by the lack of caring and amateurish waitressing. We ate our entrees in silence because at that point we were all a bit bitchy at each other due to the evenings events. Do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else to eat where they give a shit about you. Good food and lousy service equals a lousy evening for you and your family. read more

I went here with my mom last Friday and and I will never be back. So let me start out with the service. When we were seated the waitress (she had dirty blondeish hair and I think she was the head waitress) took our drink and food order in a usual manner. Not even 5 minutes later I decided I wanted to change my order. I work in the industry (line cook) and understand how that can be frustrating but she replied with an annoyed disposition, "Well, what did you order?" In my opinion more cordial response would have been, "Of course, what would you like." I hate to sound cliche but the customer is always right, even if you are having a bad day or dislike the person you do not show so in front of the customer. That is part of your job. The worst part of my service experience is when my mom and I left. We were walking outside and I noticed that the waitress walked outside right in front of us. I thought that maybe she was going to say goodnight to us but no. She went outside to two guys (maybe the owner(s) or the chef(s)) and said something to them. As we were walking out the door I noticed her doing so and she went right back without saying anything to us. The two guys stared at us and giggled like school children. Even as we were driving away they were still there staring and giggling. So I give their service a big fat 0! The food on the other hand was meh. The artisan bread itself was good but the cut was too thick. The spread they put on it was too peppery and they really went to town with it. My mom and I split the bacon dusted calamari and I don't understand why people have been raving about it, it wasn't that good. It was either overcooked or old because it was chewy, so chewy that I could not eat a few of the pieces. I also didn't like how it tasted of maple syrup. For our entrees my mom ordered the Mediterranean salad and I ordered gnocchi in a marinara sauce. Once again, pepper overload! In the Mediterranean, the crab was decent but the shrimp felt and tasted frozen. I could barely taste the balsamic because of how much pepper they used. The gnocchi itself was good but the sauce had, can you guess, too much pepper and even too much garlic. Now I am not trying to be a negative nancy about this place but my opinion is that it sucked. read more

I lived in NJ for most of my life and about 3 years ago moved to Florida, this place is one of the few things I miss about living in NJ. Real Italian food. Everything is like heaven I have never ordered anything here that wasn't incredible. The prices are also super reasonable. If this place was in Miami they would charge and make a fortune. You just can't find Italian food like this in Florida and believe me I have looked. I dream of their filet, and vodka rig. Every time I am in NJ I make a visit to this place. Been here twice. The first time was on Valentine's Day and the calamari came out tasting like it was frozen and rubbery and the breading was heavy and clunky rather than crispy and Flaky. The garlic bread that comes free when you sit down has parmesan cheese baked on but ours had multiple pieces of bread laid over one another with the cheese then sprinkled over them and baked so when you picked up each piece only half of it was covered in cheese. Second visit I ordered escalate, sausage, and bean soup however they sent an appetizer portion for two. Rather than throw it out I said I would take it instead of the soup so they gave me the soup to go but they still charged me $13 for the appetizer portion instead of the soup portion. My entree was rigatoni and vodka sauce with chicken. Rigatoni pasta came out undercooked and the chicken came out extremely dry. The bar drinks were very good. read more

I feel like I was just on an episode of Restaurant Impossible. We took a seat at a table in the bar area and after a bit of a wait a server came to take our drink order. There was a party wrapping up in the next room which seemed festive. But as they finished, members of the party were coming to the wait staff station, located right next to our table (never a good plan for a restaurant lay out) to pay their bills. The waitress was extremely loud sorting out all of these bills - there were no less than 6 separate checks and we later learned it was a wedding party (seriously, who splits the check that many ways - or at all - for a wedding celebration? That should be against restaurant policy.). This happened for the duration of our dinner. We waited a very long time for our appetizer and even longer for our food. Once the salads were served, our pasta came out within minutes. Our server left the table so quickly we couldn't order another round of drinks. My mother went to the bar herself to get our drinks (water glasses were never refilled). There was also an employee who seemed to be a manager but was very clearly serving herself drinks behind the bar and yelling around at the restaurant staff about who misplaced her drink. This was very distracting. The final nail in the coffin that was our dinner occurred as we were paying our bill. I watched another employee enter the bar with a small dog on a leash (not the seeing-eye variety). All other employees were excited to see the dog, guess he's a regular... For laughs we threw down 3 credit cards at the end just to see what would happen. It was epic entertainment. read more

Been here many times, have also been to a few parties that were catered by the Revere and the food is always fantastic! The Hoboken bread is so good, I could probably make a meal out of just that. They also have fantastic bacon dusted calamari, arancini, ossobuco, penne ala vodka, and chicken rolantina. Everything I have tried here has been exceptional!!! Great experience once again. I have been enjoying the delicious food at the Revere for more than 12 years. Wonderful, polite, and friendly service. Bacon dusted calamari is a must every visit absolutely delicious. Entree was the slizzing 18oz new york strip steak which I requested rare and was cooked perfectly with and very entertaining presentation. Great people, good food, classic music played while you enjoy your food. Perfect night to relax and have a good time and great food. A few weeks ago was a very unsettling experience due to customers that were absolutely obnoxious and had no class what so ever. A group of about 6 women whom ordered the unlimited crab legs and took unlimited to another level. After about 7 dishes EACH of crab legs along with ago customers eating them to, the restaurant unfortunately ran out which is very capable of happening because of the "unlimited" part. These women made a scene when trying to order the 8th dish of crab legs and was informed theu had sold out. They started making fun of their gay waiter who is AWESOME gay or not. Calling him a fairy and etc. I could have smacked them right in the face. The owner being the good man that he is offered dessert on the house and percentage off the bill. They continued to act like classless ghetto hood rats left the restaurant bitching like little children shorted the waiter on the check and no tip. Thank god they choose to get rid of the crab legs on Thursdays because now those type of uneducated, immature women do not come back. Never knew about this place until searching Yelp. Quite a surprise. The food was excellent. Two in our party had the specials - spicy ahi tuna and a mahi-mahi special with clams and broccoli rabe. They both loved their meals. I had the chicken francaise - you could tell it was freshly prepared. The batter was light and the chicken tender. The meal was accompanied with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Service was excellent. The server asked if we wanted to slow the meal down or speed it up, and he let us know that a very large party would be ordering so we knew of any potential slowing of service. Ugh! So disgusted with the experience here. Took my mom, dad, grandmother Saturday for a meal on Mother's Day weekend. First of all, the front doors were left open so all the smoke from people smoking at the front door came to our table. thanks, I'm 7 months pregnant. Our server was SLOOOOOOWWW! Everything seemed to take twice as long as it would at another restaurant. Our water wasn't refilled in timely basis. Drinks took 30 mins to come to table, and entrees were covered in cracked black pepper. who does this? does a decent restaurant have the server ask to ADD this seasoning? My grandmother could not eat her seafood meal due to it being too peppery. My dad's saltimbocca was poorly prepared- oh- and the cup of mac and cheese with a little seafood appetizer was $17. we liked the bacon dusted calamari. service sucked so bad- could not wait to escape this place. never going back aweful. read more
