Another couple who arrived after us was served first. I also noticed people were getiing their takeout orders before us. Didn't mind too much as we were killing time. When our food arrived I was skeptical. I ordered the chile verde omelette, the meat seems to have been steamed cooked with sauce poured on top. (Those who know, the pork needs to be slow cooked then fried before simmering with the sauce) it was a little tough. The potatoes, while they look almost burnt were actually still raw. I really enjoy my visits to Rey's. There's a certain home style comfort you get from eating here that makes it feel like you're eating a homemade meal with family. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Although the restaurant closes at 2, when we arrived a little after 2 they still sat us and gave us great service (We had no idea they closed at 2, we found out afterwards). The food comes out quickly, and with a big menu everyone will be able to find something they like. I wish they offered outdoor seating and the restaurant were a little easier to find in the small shopping center near King Arthur's. Otherwise, I'd definitely return here with family for a home style meal. read more

I love this place. The food is amazing- The Stuffed is literally the best thing on the menu. But I've been very disheartened with them the past month. I've tried ordering from Uber eats from their restaurant about 6 times in the past month and they always cancel my order last minute with out calling or notifying me as to why. (On the app it says they will contact if order cannot be made) It's really frustrating to go through this time and time again. The food, personally the chilaquiles and stuffed French toast are really good. But I had pozole not for me. It lacked flavor it was bland. But overall I would say come try it. Fantastic option is the heart of Whittier. First time to Rey's, we were in search of some good Pazole. After doing a bit of research, we landed on Rey's on a recent Sunday morning. Located next to antique/estate store, the parking is generally ok and there is also plenty of street parking. We waited for approx 5 min and were seated at a nice table with plenty of spacing given the current concerns with tables being on top of each other. We ordered the Pazole and a Chili Verde omelette (served with beans and rice). The Pazole was very flavorful with large chunks of pork, plenty of hominy, and very tasty broth. The omelette was light and fluffy, plenty of chili verde, and tasty as well. Service was very friendly and the prices were quite reasonable. The only small downside is that the restrooms were out of order...not a huge deal and it may have just been today. We will definitely return and you should also give this place a try. read more

Ordered two burritos: Bacon breakfast burrito: hardly any bacon, felt like ham because of how soggy. Tortilla was decent quality. But into something that made a loud noise and felt like sand. Chorizo burrito: chorizo egg and refried beans, not bad, was expecting less from this burrito but ended up being way better than the bacon breakfast burrito. Chips had potential but most of them tasted stale.... Really average stuff.... If you want burritos just go to Mimo's Cafe or Tam's Whittier! Way better read more

Definitely don't recommend this place! The old skinny sister waitress won't come back if you complain about one of the foods. The chili verde omelet was so bland and looked old. I told the lady and she was upset and when I told her I didn't want to order anything she walked away mad and never came back to check up on the rest of us. So sad lol. She was nice at first and then bam you don't like something they ignore you so be prepared. Not once did she come back unless it was to pay. And no interaction. Sorry your food is bland. Learn how to take criticism right or no one will go back. Definitely don't recommend this place. Definitely won't come back to this bland place with bland owners. We literally waited 48 minutes outside the door, and it wasn't until the owner (I think it was the owner) walked thru the front of the restaurant, I walked in and asked him if we could be seated. There were literally FOUR tables inside with nobody sititng there, but they have wayyyyy too few staff members for the amount of customers on the weekends. The poor waitresses were literally running all over the place and forgetting everything. The food was ok. I won't say it will change my life or anything, but for the price we paid, and the attention we got? Nah, I was tempted to drive to McDonalds. The place itself is super small, and the parking is absolute nightmare if happen to stop by on a weekend, mostly cause of the Antique store with which they share space (not their fault) but still. Breakfast burritos were bland and overpriced. They were filled with soggy potatoes and had hardly any meat. And their pricing was deceiving. I went online to check their prices and ordered 7 breakfast burritos to go for my coworkers. Online they said about $6 per burritos. That seemed fair because I remember they weren't large burritos. When I picked them up, my total was over $75! When I ordered them, I was not informed of the price. My fault. Inflation I guess. But when I told the employee that there was a price discrepancy, she didn't care. And trust me, $10 for these burritos is a joke!! This used to be a go-to place for breakfast. This place is a hidden gem. I came here once by myself after a morning class and I was impressed. It's hidden behind the antique shop on Whittier blvd so you can't see it from the street. The parking lot is decent size. When you walk in you can pick where you want to sit. They only have tables, no booths. The place is decorated with funny edited pictures and gives an old school vibe. As for the food, it's delicious. I've brought my bf with me more than just a couple of times. We both usually get the machaca plate which taste fresh and not oily at all. It comes with rice and beans and a side of tortillas. The Jamaica is very refreshing and not too sweet. You leave feeling as if you are something good for your body that tasted great.
