Definitely one of my favorite to-go spots for brunch. My top 2 favorites: Eggs in the Nest and Rialto Rancheros. These two dishes seem so simple, but I think that's what makes it so great. Who would have ever thought of topping a piece of toast with Swiss cheese and a poached egg and having it be a delicious meal? Or...at least I wouldn't have until I came here. Their Rialto Rancheros isn't as simple, but the combination of the ingredients is what makes that dish so extraordinary. I've never considered blue cheese to be such a great addition to something because I usually hate blue cheese. And their side of potatoes/hash browns?! This place was a complete disappointment. Took my gf for brunch, was told wait would be 30 minutes, and went for a walk around. Come back after 10 minutes and the hostess tells us she took our names off the list because we weren't there when she called our names. Fine. My fault for believing your time estimate. Her attitude however was very off putting. She insisted on not taking our names until people behind us in line put their names down. We waited and put our names down again and waited an hour to get a table. When I got in I felt that the restaurant was far too cramped and loud. We ordered three entrees to share, and each was a disappointment. The salmon was bland, the eggs were runny, and the breakfast panini was flavorless. The food was overpriced, underspiced, and cold. Our bill ended up being ~60$ for what I could have recreated with $7 and a grocery run. I paid extra to be treated poorly by a rude hostess. Stay away. read more

First off, the restaurant that used to be at this location - Sidney's - was a great vegetarian restaurant. True, it had an odd dog theme that may have made people think it was a pet store, but it served tastey vegetarian sandwiches and I miss it greatly. I tried Rialto on one of its first weekends, and must say, was really disappointed. The service was slow and unfriendly, the portions tiny, and the owner was wearing a Harley Davidson shirt that clashed with the decor of the restaurant. Came here with a friend and we had french toast and breakfast crostini. The staff is very friendly, and they serve Stumptown coffee, which was very good. The french toast is made with a baguette, and it wasn't as good as it sounded on the menu. The crostini was a little better. What made me write this review was the payment process. When you pay with a credit card, they bring you an iPad, and it gives you an option of paying 20%, 25% or 30% tip. Seriously? I don't skimp on tip when warranted. I normally tip 20% when I'm at a sit-down restaurant, but 30%? Really? When we were seated, the people at the next table had just finished paying, and I heard them say that they should have paid with cash. I didn't think much of it at the time, but it made sense when we were paying. I wasn't forced to tip 30%, but I did not appreciate their approach to this. I would not come back here. read more

This is a nice little place in downtown Fullerton. It's got brown and white furnishings and decor, and really antique/old style mirrors hanging around, with a large HD TV playing a movie where the server hangs around. The service is normal/good, nothing wrong with it, it was good and I can't complain. The food is quite good. I tried the Southwest and the Caprice Panani, and the soup of the day was Chicken Mushroom and Rice and was realllyyy good. The breakfast actually does seem better, but I went for lunch and the lunch is solid too. Cute place, good food, good service, solid all around! Extra points because they were playing a movie with Audrey Hepburn in it, and Audrey Hepburn is cute and fun, so one bonus point to Griffindore House - I mean Rialto - for having her there. read more

I love brunch!! Probably the closest we have to LA brunch cafes here. Decor and all. Came around 9:15 on Sat morning and waited about 15 minutes. I'd say come before 9am or sometime after 10:30 to avoid the bigger lines. Seating Sat inside right next to the window, which was nice. They have both outside & inside seating. Inside seating is tiny!! Basically, one long booth with 7-8 tables and chairs. And the bar and one big round table that could find ~5-6 max? Outside seating means you're on the sidewalk, but cute esp when people bring dogs! Decor Fairly simple. A miniature of a typical larger diner, but cuter with the outdoor seating. Service "Hosting" from the other side of the counter, so you need to walk inside to be greeted. Sometimes there is a server or two outside, in which case you can speak with them. Servers are nice and seem to have a few regulars who sit at the counter and talk. Small restaurants=quicker service. Easy to grab anyone's attention, which was convenient. Food Wilshire Omelet- An omelet full of flavor! I think it has almost everything in it. Hasbrowns- Super crispy and warm... perfect! Smoked Salmon Scramble- Not a salmon-for breakfast person, but def interesting. The goat cheese complimented well. Coffee- Loved the mug, but the coffee was just as good! Price Between $9-$12 for most plates. Coffee is $2 in the mug. Would/will def come by again. Hope it'll be a little sunnier next time so I can sit outside! read more

I really really dig this place. There is just a feeling that you get with their atmosphere, almost like you have warped yourself into a quaint, classic yet modern cafe somewhere in Europa. One thing I am superly into is the old black and white films they are playing constantly. Right on. I hadnt been here for a while so I decided to grab some hungover grub on a nice Sunday morning. Instead of my usual vegan accommodated breakfast, I chose the vegan chicken salad sandwich with a side of kettle chips and a yummy pickle spear. Oh my god was that sandwich was huge! One-star for rude & inattentive service. My husband and I were seated at one of the outdoor tables. We wait over 40 minutes for our food. After seeing people who got there later than us get their food, and our attempts to get a waitress are sad and futile, I go inside to ask when our food is coming out. The waitress looks at me and says, "I don't even know what table you're sitting at.. It's a holiday and we're really busy so I'm sure your food will be coming." Ok, love. I know it's MLK day and it's busy, but leave the 'tude out of it. Plus, there's only so many tables that I could be at in your pint-sized establishment. She comes to our table shortly thereafter and asks how long we've been waiting for our food (just another sign of her attentiveness). Apparently, the order never even made it's way into the kitchen...And we weren't going to wait for another minute longer for it. It's a great thing when you're able to kind of wake up on time for brunch. The original plan was Blu Jam Cafe in Mel Rose, but ended up going to plan B: Early Bird.... But Early Bird ended up being an hour wait so we hopped onto Yelp (Fullerton is like a little brunch haven, btw) and I remembered Rialto Cafe was in the area and I've really wanted to try that place thanks to Instagram. We called ahead and they said it was a 30 minute minute wait but when we got there, thankfully there was no wait. We were sat the moment we got there at the bar (preferably table next time as I did notice there was no elbow space at the bar). PARKING: There's free parking across the street in the parking garage right below the Wilshire Apartments. Plenty of parking spaces if you're shopping and dining in DTF. FOOD: We ordered the All Veggie Omelette with Red Skin Potatoes ($9.95) and the boyfriend ordered the Egg Benedict with Hash Browns with a side of OJ ($2.50). When it came out the portions were on the smaller side and I wasn't sure I was going to be full, but on the contrary we left filled and satisfied. Omelette. Was. So. Mothereffin. Delicious. I normally hate my veggies blended into my eggs as 99.9% of the time, whoever is cooking my omelette would overcook the eggs in the process drying it out and the veggies would shrivel. But Rialto Cafe did a perfect job, the egg was still juicy and the vegetables retained their moisture as well. I loved their red skin house potatoes served as a side, whatever spices they used- it's fucking delicious! Also, it's also perfectly cooked as the potato wasn't hard from being undercooked nor too soggy. It was soft and fluffy full of life... Nom nom nom! But the boyfriend wasn't too impressed with the Egg Benedict, he said it tasted very mediocre and cheap. I was pretty disappointed with this place based on all the awesome Yelp reviews. The service I felt was a bit slow, but that was no big deal because we wanted to relax and enjoy ourselves. Came on a Tuesday for brunch with a group of girlfriends and was able to get the round table for four by the front door. Menu is very limited (there wasn't even hot chocolate!) and hard to read. Everyone got cucumbered water, which was different, but I'm not a fan of. Ordered the bacon/egg panini and it was okay. Too much egg, not enough cheese or bacon. The wheat bread was good though. Side of potatoes were good. The rest of my group didn't seem overly thrilled with their foods either (veggie omelette with hash browns, stuffed French toast, and egg in nest). It was my friend's birthday so she got a free strawberry crepe, which looked okay. We didn't eat it until the end, but it was all soggy and cold. While this place is one of my absolute favorite brunch places to go to (read every yelp reviewer on here--cute decor, delicious food), the place is extree-heeeee-heee-mly small. AND WE ALL KNOW WHEN PLACES ARE SMALL AND POPULAR-- the wait will probably suck a goat. Also, do not get the orange juice. I, the eager morning OJ drinker, got the orange juice, drank it in one swift, shot-like gesture and semi-triumphantly asked for a refill..when to my surprise, not free! So be wary, eager orange juice drinkers--these suckas will cost you $$$. So really my four stars are for the delicious potatoes (GET THE POTATOES!), the cute decor (i like to sit in cute places, sue me) and incredibly nice wait staff. For the record, I would give Rialto Cafe 3.5 stars if I could. It's a cute little breakfast and lunch cafe in downtown Fullerton. The food was really good! I liked how crispy & non-greasy the hashbrown was. The Rialto Ranchero was delicious. And the stuffed french toast had the perfect touch of sweetness. I didn't love the fact that they use french baguettes for almost all the bread items in the breakfast menu. In some dishes it totally works, but not so much in other dishes. Also the seating was a little tightly spaced together, so it pretty much feels like you're dining with strangers on each side of you. Still these are both minor complaints to an overall lovely experience. read more

I stumbled through the doors here after being sick of what was offered around the corner at the other "DTF" spots where 3 clubs had the audacity to attempt at charging me $20 for cover. That's totally fine if you're standing in line on Hollywood Blvd, but this was beyond me to see it being attempted here. The girlfriends I brought went on to Plush Lounge while my buddy and I "went our own way" and ended up in Rialto. I didn't know the place had already closed its doors for 2 hours as I sat at the bar while the owners politely said, "You know we've been closed for 2 hours?" At that point I was like, "crap", and before I tried playing it off, they asked what we wanted to drink anyway. We ended up drinking Chimay (what else) all night with the owners. Place rules. Few things break my heart more than a poor breakfast. I walked out of here heartbroken. Smoked salmon scramble had dry, bland eggs and the richness of the goat cheese made it really hard to eat. The breakfast potatoes were sold to me as something special. They have no flavor, no savory saltiness, no bite. Paired with plain sourdough toast that was hardly toasted and seems like it was an afterthought. Great bread can save a meal. I love this place!! Came here at 9am in the morning on my one day off of work with a friend for some yummy breakfast. I would only come here on a weekday morning since it always looks/gets so crowded on the weekends, and the place is tiny so the wait can get long. Service was a bit slow but that's expected at 9am in the morning on a Friday. Ordered the yogurt parfait...which for $7 I thought was really extreme, but they give you a lottt of fruit and it comes in a cute mason jar so you can't really complain, haha. Also got the Wilshire omelette, which has everything (ham, sausage, bacon, cheese and veggies, yum!!) and I of course added avocado and got the hash browns for my side. Best omelette I've had in awhile, the ingredients were really fresh and the hash brown was soo crispy!! So many raves about this place....yet, I find my one rant taking over. I wonder if I'm just being difficult...its very possible. I wanted to LOVE Rialto. First with my raves: First, Love the cucumber in the water. Its refreshing and delicious. The rialto rancheros was sized perfectly. Not too much, not too little. It packed tons of flavor and I loved their play on the rancheros. 4 generous bite sized slices of french bread topped with sun dried tomato, fried egg, fresh roma tomato and feta cheese...yummers! Only thing that could've made it better was if the bread was toasted. It would've given it a texture contrast that would've taken it from good to great. The Wilshire was tasty...typical omlette loaded with sausage, bacon, bell peppers, onions and cheese. Paired with the sourdough toast and home fries and you're in for a treat. Their coffee is spectacular! The servers were all sweet, warm and on their game. I never had to ask for a thing.... My one rant? Their hostess that greeted us. She was extremely off putting and after her "too cool for school" greeting, we almost turned and walked away. Rialto would easily be a 5 star joint for me, I love and adore how small and cozy it is. But, unfortunately even with the wonderful experience, our first impression by the hostess left a terrible taste in our mouth. We probably won't be back. read more

Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum!!!! I adore the atmosphere of this little cafe. It's off a sidestreet in downtown Fullerton and has the cutest decorations! It feels like it would be the location of an old movie scene where the main character pouts their way into a cafe sits down at the counter and dishes out their problems over a giant cappucino. Anyways. I've been here for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast I had the smoked salmon scramble with was delicious! Salmon, goat cheese and herbs served with toast and a cup of hot chocolate. They use cinnamon or something in it and it's amazing!! For lunch I've had the caprese panini...+++++!!!! I'm sure it gets packed fast weekend mornings because there's very little seating. There's a few tables outside and I've seen a little bowl of water taken out to people who brings their dogs! After reading all the reviews my wife and I decided to go to breakfast here today. The reviews were right it is a small place, tucked away in a small building on the corner of Harbor Blvd and Wilshire in Fullerton. They have a few tables inside and a bar section. They also had a few tables outside. The staff is courteous and attentive. Now to the food. After all the review of the stuffed french toast I had to try it. I ordered the stuffed french toast and my wife ordered the Wilshire omelet. The stuffed french toast isn't stuffed or really french toast. It is basically a slightly crunchy french baguette, like the bread you can get down the street at Lee's Sandwich, drizzle with a little a bit of creme anglaise, strawberries, bluberries and some whipped cream on the side. I don't know where the mascarpone cheese was. It wasn't dipped in egg batter so forget about the traditional french toast taste. Basically it was a french baguette with a bit of fruit and some whipped cream. That's it. Nothing fantastic there. If you really want stuffed french toast, go to Pier 15 in San Ramon California. If they have it get the seasonal Berry Pan Dore. That is the dish the stuffed french toast from Rialto Cafe wished it was. Enough said, don't waste your time with this dish. The Wilshire Omelet was ok, nothing special. Just meat, spinach and cheese. It came with a side of hash brown potatoes which tasted like anything you could get out of the frozen supermarket section. One other thing I ordered Orange Juice. Which was not fresh squeezed. For a small boutique place like this you would expect them to fresh squeeze the stuff. I totally like the vibe of this place - small, quaint, and very "homey". Located in DT Fullerton, the hubs and I came to Rialto Cafe merely on a whim looking for a good place for brunch. Luckily it was Easter Sunday and the place was open and there wasn't a wait (we've passed by since and there's always a wait). When you come here, you have the option to eat inside (small place) or there are a few tables outside - many people actually bring their dogs to come hang with them outside. Just a note - if you have to use the restroom, it's like oddly in the back, down the hallways, and you need a KEY. I opted for the eggs benedict the second I saw it on the menu. The food was fairly priced around the $10 range. Unfortunately it wasn't the best eggs benedict I've ever had, not by far. It was good, but not great. I probably wouldn't order it again next time. See - there would be a next time though - if only for their laid back atmosphere. The hashbrowns were pretty greasy. The water is cucumber water (which I hate) - not that it mattered because I was never offered any. The place was freeeezing cold inside. The ugly: the service was horrible. The place wasn't that crowded and it took forever to get our food. Came here on a last minute date since I was in the area for a meeting I had in the morning. The restaurant itself is extremely small, they do have bar seating, regular table seating, and few tables outside. I opted for the Egg in the Nest, and my date went for the Eggs Benedict. I enjoyed their home frie hasbrowns, but the egg in the nest that was to be covered with Swiss cheese (Which it was)... was covered in processed Swiss Cheese, it looked like Kraft Cheese & Tasted just as awful which killed my entire breakfast. My date had the Eggs Benedict which they put on sliced pieces of baguette, as we all know baguettes are generally hard so I don't think this was good choice. He had a hard time cutting it and eating it, by the end of the meal is mouth was sore. The service was also on the meh side, our server seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there. She certainly wasn't friendly or cheerful, and according to my date who had been there a few times previously she is always in this state of unhappiness. The gentlemen though that was checking up on us was pleasant and had a much warmer disposition. Overall I wasn't super stoked on this place, and I would definitely not come back. The food was good.............. and yah.. I can't seem to come up with anything else but that. Very cute, quaint and delectable cafe in downtown Fullerton. The morning we dined the place was packed (and from reading most reviews it sounds like it is often that way). We waited about 20 minutes for a seat which wasn't terrible. Im breaking this review in half revolving around food and service. Food: in a word heavenly... everything we ate was absolutely top notch. I had the ham an Swiss crepe and the other diner had the stuffed french toast. Both items were cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. I also ordered a side of their special breakfast potatoes that they apparently only serve until the run out of the batch they made for the morning. It was quite delectable. Prices are a bit high so I wouldn't come regularly, but for a nice once in a while breakfast it was pretty good. Service: For a place with such good food they really lack in the service department. Once seated we were somewhat rushed to pick an item and the server was not very helpful in offering selections. They came by for refills on drinks about 30 minutes in (which was about the time we were finishing up) and then a check was dropped off. We paid the bill and went on our way. They didn't offer a 'thank you', 'how was your food', 'can we offer anything else'.... it felt very much like, 'well , we got you in the door and fed you and have your money, so please leave'. I really want to like this place, and will hopefully give it one more chance becuase I understand service is usually an easy fix. So 6 months or so I shall reevaluate. YOU MUST MUST MUST GET THE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST!! mm Me and my friend split the stuffed french toast and the willshire omelet because we wanted a mixture of salty and sweet. stuffed french toast: delicious, as everyone else says its more like baguette topped with whip cream and fruit. It is not too sweet and the baguette is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, the berry syrup makes a good dipping sauce. YUM willshire omelet: I don't really remember what was inside this, it tells you on the menu but it tasted like a normal omelet. Good but does not stand out like the french toast. Best breakfast ever!!! It's rare to find a breakfast place that serves unique creations. If you want the usual eggs and bacon breakfast, you can go anywhere. A renovated theater from the 20's, Rialto café boasts an array of classic brunch dishes such as eggs benedict, french toast, "egg in the nest" in addition to an assortment of omelets. A few friends and I ordered the eggs benedict, huevos rancheros and French toast. While the eggs benedict and huevos rancheros were delicious and packed with flavor, they were nothing out of the ordinary. The notable headliner was the French toast--made with a demi baguette stuffed with mascarpone and topped with preserved berries / whipped cream. Love stopping by to get breakfast/brunch when I am in town. Located right in DTF, it is accessible to a lot of FREE parking! There is a parking lot right behind the building and street parking with meters. My favorite is eating outside. Luckily, Wilshire isn't too busy of a street so traffic won't bother you while you are enjoying your meal and catching up with friends. If you're lucky enough someone will be outside performing live music on the street. Staff is very attentive and friendly. I've had the Wilshire omelet and Turkey sandwich and can't complain on either. If ordering breakfast, I suggest getting the side of potatoes! YUMMM!! It is perfectly seasoned and mixed with bell peppers - sooo good!! My friends enjoy getting the omelets too. They're huge (take up literally half the plate) and have the perfect combination of egg + whatever your omelet filling is. Bathrooms are clean. You have to take the key and walk down the hallway to a shared bathroom, but they're clean and safe. read more

I don't know what it is, but it's something about the chic decor, large windows filling the small room with natural light, cute little bar, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off playing that puts me in a nice relaxing mood... like it almost feels like I'm having breakfast in bed. I don't know... maybe because Ferris Bueller is just a movie I'd watch in bed in the morning? Today was my 3rd time here for breakfast. I've had their omelets before, which are delicious with just the right amount & choice of ingredients. I've also had their regular breakfast here with scrambled eggs, house potatoes (yum!), toast and soy sausages. Today, I decided to go all out & get their Stuffed French Toast. It's not what you would typically expect when hearing "stuffed French toast" but I still loved it and pretty much cleaned out the entire plate. They use a French roll (no eggs were harmed in the process), which they top with an awesome berry compote, mascarpone cheese & whipped creammmMMmmm... Perfect with a glass of orange juice or coffee with their cute Anthropologie mugs. A meal here is not cheap though. It's about around $10 for each dish. They also serve lunch too, then they close at 3:30pm for the rest of the day. Service is awesome & our food came out pretty quick on a Saturday morning. read more

Breakfast every day?? Eggs galore? This seemed like the ideal place for me. The atmosphere seemed like a pretty chill place. There was a pretty big bar counter that was the centerpiece of the restaurant. There's few seating but they do have outdoor seating. I felt that they should have had a canopy or something for shade. Anyways, upon entering we weren't really helped and one of the workers just kept staring at us. It wasn't until another party came in it seemed like she actually came back from daydreaming did she ask us how many were in our party, which was clearly just three of us. When I saw pictures on Yelp I was pretty excited about the food, but when I glanced over the menu, I wasn't particularly impressed. I honestly couldn't figure out what to order and it didn't help that the same girl that "helped" us came over to ask us if we were ready waaay too much without giving us enough time in between to think over the menu. My boyfriend and I eventually settled on the Benny Burger and the soup of the day. Our friend ordered the Greek Omelet. Honestly the food was average cafe food to me. I'm not sure if I had high expectations of this place, but I didn't get that "wow" factor. The service wasn't that great for me either, although the guy who brought out our food was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed, including refilling our coffees. I'm pretty sure we didn't see that girl again for the rest of our meal. Eh, I don't know. I think this place was just alright. I didn't get the first best impression here and I'm not sure if I'd go again. Unless I couldn't think of anywhere else to go or try in DTF. read more

Rialto Cafe - Benny Burger with coffee - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Fullerton, California

The Rialto Cafe is a lovely spot in downtown Fullerton. I went there on a Sunday morning, and there was a bit of a wait (15 minutes or so), but the weather was nice, so it wasn't too bad. The cafe itself is fairly small and cozy, and they play classic movies on the TV (Beetlejuice was on while we ate)! I ordered the Rialto Rancheros, which was phenomenal. Tiny baguettes with a sun-dried tomato spread, topped with an over-easy egg, bleu cheese crumbles, and salsa. You seriously have to order this when you go there! GREAT place for breakfast/brunch with friends!! Service is great, food is awesome, and I pretty much want to echo everything that my girlfriend Vicki T. had to say about Rialto Cafe :) We loved the monogram cups and our server let us know that they're from Anthropologie!
