I ordered the 12oz New York strip. It was perfect. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and melted in my mouth. The salad was okay and the rolls with the cinnamon butter are always a crowd pleaser. Now the bad... I sat at the bar. I got there around 4:00pm so there were only a few people there. I waited a while and then as I was getting up to get a table instead of staying at the bar a manager approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her that her staff was too busy having social time to assist me so I was going to get a table. She promptly addressed that and I was finally helped. Unfortunately the service at the bar did not improve the remainder of my dinner. Then there was the potato. It was maybe room temperature. Let's just say it didn't even melt the butter! Probably the worst experience I've had at Texas Roadhouse. The steak and rolls were great but the rest had a lot of room for improvement. Overall grade "C". I will return. I ordered three gyros, one without the sauce and another just meat and bread with the third gyro being a full gyro without any special instructions. I also order the kafta, and I am so glad I did! There were several people that came in after me. They all went to the counter and waited without anyone coming out to take their order. Most left as they were all enclosed behind the wooden room divider. This divider certainly did divide the staff and their customers. One could not see into the kitchen at all nor a staff member to see their customers. It was a very strange set-up. When a customer comes into a restaurant, they usually are able to see someone there, but not here. The divider goes from the floor to the ceiling. It is a shame, truly. The dining room held a few tables and chairs. Everything was very clean. No complaints there. I soon received my food and went home. All the gyro sauces are kept in tiny plastic to-go cups. Most of the tops had popped off, during my ride home, leaving most of the sauce covering the inside of the bag, making quite a mess and leaving us with very little sauce. Unloading the sack, very gingerly due to this sauce, I found our order was complete and perfectly executing per my instructions. That is a great feat in itself! I was so happy that I didn't have to call asking for a forgotten gyro or one that was not made properly. We all sat down to eat our gyros and all were going to sample the kafta. The kafta was so very good. It was still hot and juicy! The spices and the meat just made our mouths so happy. We all loved it! The gyros though, were a sad experience for all of us. The gyro kept was mostly VERY dry with some meat being actually crispy and way too dried out! The gyro bread was very dry as well. None of us were able to finish our gyros. The hungriest of us had three bites out of his. We really tried but the sauce did not even make it right as the sauce failed to cover-up that dryness! The owner is most welcome to say his piece as is evident they excercise their right with most of the reviews that are short of singing their praises. But I think that if these reviews are read by them in a way that they were open to constructive criticism, and used that energy in a positive way to figure out what they need to do to protect the meat and bread from drying out as they do the kafta, both the customers and they would help winners. I want to come back soon and try them again with much hope that they have found a way to keep the meat and bread from drying out. If so, my mouth will sing the staff and gyro their praises! Although Earl's is not my favorite BBQ in OKC, it was the only BBQ option in Bricktown. Bricktown is supposed to be a place that shows some of OKC's food scene to tourists, and it doesn't make sense to me that you could do the OKC food scene justice without at least one BBQ joint. I am sad that Bricktown BBQ is showing the outside world what Oklahoma BBQ is all about because the food quality and service are on the border between average and below average. First, the food. The best part of my meal was the pork ribs. This was the only item that I tasted that had any stamp of originality on it. It was clear to me that their spice rub is their own recipe. I don't remember tasting anything like it in the OKC metro area. They are also doing something with the smoke that gives you two distinct tastes as you eat these ribs. The first comes from the spice rub, while the second comes from the smoke. If I come back, I would like to see if that is consistent through the other meats on the menu. All my sides were disappointing. The potato salad had a gummy, pudding-like texture. The coleslaw was too sweet and the cabbage was chopped much finer than I like it. The Texas toast was toasted lightly, not buttered, and only toasted on one side. I added some green salsa from our table's order of nachos to spice up the potato salad and the coleslaw since they were too sweet for my palate. My daughters ordered cheese pizza off the kids' menu. One of them took a bite and reported that it was sweet. My wife tried it and discovered that the pizza included BBQ sauce instead of tomato sauce below the cheese. The menu description for this item does not say that it includes BBQ sauce. In my opinion, it would help if they included this detail so that parents can help their children decide which items they will actually eat. I tried a few of the fries served with my daughters' cheese pizzas. They were battered fries that are battered in this odd sweet batter that I have tasted at other restaurants that serve battered fries. I don't know which food supplier they are using (e.g. Ben E. Keith), but I wish the food supplier would stop selling this item because this kind of sweetness does not belong on french fries. My wife reported that her catfish strips were good, but her okra was not seasoned at all. She was also served a lemon lime soda when she originally ordered a lemonade. Our server came around to take our order, bring our appetizers, and bring our entrees. There were no check-ins after that, despite the dining room being half full for our entire visit. On top of all this, we paid close to $100 for our party of 3 adults and 2 children. I understand that you pay extra when you eat in Bricktown, but this still seems excessive. I won't rule out coming back, but they are going to have to do better on their sides and their level of service.
