I've been a customer of Ribs USA in Burbank for over 20 yrs, but my last experience was disappointing. I picked up my husbands order "Brandon the Banker" dinner and was charged $59 plus tax. The menu board (see picture) clearly lists the price at $35.99, so I felt I was overcharged. When I pointed this out, they insisted on charging the higher amount anyway. I asked for the manager, he came out and held the line. To make matters worse, the order itself was not correct. My husband asked to speak with the owner to resolve the issue, but he, (Don P.) never returned our call. We decided to return the food, which was not handled well either. The manager called the owner, explained the incident and ended up refunding us in cash. Overall, the portion size was not a $59 value, the visit was frustrating, and a let down a for a long-time local customer. I hope Don reconsiders portion sizes, pricing accuracy, and customer service, because this doesn't reflect the level of quality we've come to expect as long time customers.

This place rivals any place I've been to in Texas and Mississippi (fighting words, I know). Fall of the bone goodness and the best BBQ sauce I've ever had! And I feel weird raving about bean, but, my stars these are the best baked beans I have ever ever had. Do yourself a favor and stop by or order on DoorDash some amazing and well priced BBQ!

Proof that on their own website ordering platform combo B offers EITHER cornbread OR garlic bread

If you want to deal with a RUDE person for mediocre food that has continued to go downhill... then this is your place. They offer one thing on the ordering website, then say it's not included and charge you for it when you go to pick it up. Not sure if management has changed, but after going here for so many years.. I'm done! And if you're looking for GOOD bbq and GOOD service ... RUN right past this place! Update: the owner responded immediately and tried to downplay my issue. First, they were EXTREMELY rude to my son. Second, if you changed your policy, then you need to update your ordering website as well since it clearly states that the COMBO B comes with CORNBREAD OR GARLIC BREAD. See attached photo stating this. Third, despite being rude my son was kind and rounded up , but if you consider $.15 a tip, then your business is truly in trouble. Good luck keeping customers! 2nd update: Ha!! Point made!!

Ribs Plate Combo with mac and cheese and cornbread for my sides. The ribs were almost falling off the bone but still with a bit of chew on it, which I appreciated because I don't like mushy meat. The sauce was tangy and sticky and not too vinegary. Good stuff, but couldn't finish so it came home with me. The big surprise was the cornbread. Most BBQ places concentrate on the meat and leave the sides as afterthoughts so that means cornbreads tend to be disappointingly dry. Not this one. This cornbread was moist and flavorful. The mac and cheese was just okay. Should have gone with the beans. My dining companion and I also got to sample some sliders and they were pretty damn good. Wish those had been on the menu. Service was good although, most people were taking their food to go. The atmosphere inside was warm for a cool day and almost too warm as my companion had to shed her jacket before we started eating so she wouldn't overheat. Not sure I'd be able eat inside on a hot summer day. They do cater and parking is street and a miniscule parking in the back. I believe it's only credit/debit only, but check first. Pricing is reasonable, but remember, it is beef you're paying for so definitely a splurge day. Happy eating!!!

I first found out about Handy Market on social media for their weekend BBQ about a month ago. As I had been craving bbq for a couple weeks now, I found today to be the best opportunity to give them a try. I placed an order for pick up the night before. I got kind of carried away with the order, as I wanted to try almost everything on the menu. The prices were absolutely insane! I think I ended up paying about 65 dollars for food that would easily feed me for a good 3 or 4 days. When I arrived to pick up my order at my pick up time, I had noticed my order was being packed. I asked the employees if I can leave my order with them for a bit so that I can pick up some meat inside the market. They obliged, and I went to the meat counter to order my beef back ribs to cook for tomorrow. For 5 pounds, I ended up paying about $34, which was definitely a bargain. They were also selling breakfast burritos and sandwiches in the store, which I found to be awesome. I took everything home and opened my bag of spoils. After I took everything out, I statted thinking of what I wanted to eat first and what I wanted to save for later. It was so much food that I thought I could feed an entire army. Definitely will be back for the breakfast burritos and sandwiches, and for the meats again, for sure!

However, I am compelled to rate this establishment one star due to a particularly unpleasant experience with a female deli employee whose first name begins with the letter "J." Despite my frequent visits, the overall customer service in the deli and meats department has declined. The season butchers have been replaced with individuals lacking the necessary experience and customer courtesy that were previously present. Over the past three months, I have encountered the same issues with this particular employee. It is important to note that the fee charged for slicing a Tri Tip into a carton container is not the primary concern. The issue lies in the employee's behavior and attitude, specifically their unwillingness to properly wrap the sliced meat. This has occurred on multiple occasions, most recently at the checkout counter when the cashier pull the foil-wrapped package from the plastic bag causing the juices of the meat to spill all over the counter. This has happened to me every time this employee has served me. The Tri Tip sliced meat is dry and devoid of juices due to this careless employee's failure to wrap the meat carefully. It is imperative that this situation be addressed. Management should provide this employee, "J," with proper training on how to wrap sliced food correctly. Additionally, it is crucial the ambiance that all employees, including the deli and butcher employees, maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor. A salutation is always appreciated. Despite these concerns, the BBQ remains outstanding as always.

Unfortunately, this time the experience didn't quite meet my expectations. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad. My disappointment was more about the value and portion size for what I paid. Three slices of brisket, a small cup of pulled pork, and three small sides came to around $60. Not to mention, the pulled pork was rather dry. There were no dinner rolls or cornbread included either. I was also disappointed with how the food was packed for my to-go order. Proper packaging is important, especially when transporting food, because leaks can make a mess in your car or elsewhere. Unfortunately, the packaging did not seem secure enough to prevent that, and it did not add much value to the overall experience. For that price, especially after making a 20-mile drive, I expected either a more generous portion or something exceptional enough to justify the cost. If the price had been more reasonable, or the quantity better matched the price, I definitely would have considered coming back. Unfortunately, at $60 for what I received, it just wasn't worth the drive for me.
