I've been a customer of Ribs USA in Burbank for over 20 yrs, but my last experience was disappointing. I picked up my husbands order "Brandon the Banker" dinner and was charged $59 plus tax. The menu board (see picture) clearly lists the price at $35.99, so I felt I was overcharged. When I pointed this out, they insisted on charging the higher amount anyway. I asked for the manager, he came out and held the line. To make matters worse, the order itself was not correct. My husband asked to speak with the owner to resolve the issue, but he, (Don P.) never returned our call. We decided to return the food, which was not handled well either. The manager called the owner, explained the incident and ended up refunding us in cash. Overall, the portion size was not a $59 value, the visit was frustrating, and a let down a for a long-time local customer. I hope Don reconsiders portion sizes, pricing accuracy, and customer service, because this doesn't reflect the level of quality we've come to expect as long time customers. read more

This place has become our new lunchtime hang for a few reasons: it's literally right across the street from the radio station we work at (KLOS), the BBQ is deeee-LICIOUS, the price is fair, especially the lunch specials, and the service is excellent! Cynthia is who serves us Wednesdays, and we've recently gotten to know Maryssa on other days and she's equally awesome. If you're new, just order the pulled pork sandwich and go from there. The only thing more hungry than the patrons at this establishment is the termites. How is this place still standing? Parts of the building have literally been eaten off. The barbecue is mediocre and not consistent. It would be really great if this place got new ownership. The vibe of this location is similar to eating in an abandon military base or mess hall from the 1960s without reveille. Let's pray for change. my wife and i went there just this past Wednesday and customer service is not their forte...Had a young girl who took forever to serve us and there was only one other person there plus no one there waiting to pick up. My wife wanted a nice dry white wine but the server had no idea from white or red wine little to know what wine was dry or not... I can understand that but not even offer to give us water and she disappeared for at least 15 or 20 minutes in the back... No idea what she was doing then she brought out food to the only person in there and they complained the food was cold... I want to start off by saying our server Marisa was extremely sweet and very attentive to us while eating here, for her five stars. The food on the other hand was some of the worst bbq/ food I have ever put in my mouth. All of our food wasn't even room temp, it was cold. Our mashed potatoes tasted extremely sour which is pretty concerning. The mac and cheese was completely cold and tasted like it had been sitting out. The meat was so tough and tasteless. I've been coming here for over 20 years. The ribs are as great as they always were. The sides... used to be great. The mac and cheese is still good, but it used to be fantastic, like the best I've ever had in a restaurant. And the cornbread... they used to serve divine cornbread muffins (which came free with the meal). Then a few years ago, they changed the recipe and it wasn't as good; more cake-like. After that, they began giving a choice between garlic bread and a cornbread muffin as a complimentary side. Now... they don't even serve cornbread muffins; it's a sliced rectangle of cornbread, and it is dry as a bone. It crumbles apart into little bits when you eat it. And they charge $1.50 for it. That's right, corn bread no longer comes free with your meal, you have to pay for it. Service left a lot to be desired the last time I ate there, too. The server was very polite and friendly, but food came out a little at a time, not all at once. The ribs were served first, but the sides didn't come until several minutes later. And the cornbread came last, close to ten minutes after the ribs were served. (They used to do the logical thing and serve the cornbread before the meal.) Also, my friend ordered a hot link, which was forgotten about until he reminded the server. So that's why I have to shave off two stars. But those ribs... I keep coming here for those ribs. I just wish they would go back to the old recipes for some of the side dishes (they must be able to get them from somewhere). read more

I'd always heard good things about Ribs USA, and we decided to try it out one Friday night for takeout. Two different neighbors we saw in the elevator/lobby (both longtime residents) expressed excitement that we were going to Ribs USA and raved about how good it was. That was encouraging! We went with Combo A, and chose baby back ribs, beef ribs, and for the 2 sides, mac and cheese, gorilla fries (pretty much knockoff animal style fries) and we ordered corn on the cob on the side. The order came with a few pieces of cornbread; I liked that the cornbread came hot and that they placed individual butter packets next to the bread to soften it! We waited in the dining room. It looked like it could be a fun place to watch sports, but the layout was kinda weird; with 2 bar spaces being used for visible storage. If they added a few video games or maybe a pool table, and some booths, it reminded me of the types of places that little league teams go after their seasons end, or just a more fun, comfortable place to hang out! It was relatively empty. Signs advertised $4 wine and beer for happy hour every day. The baby back ribs had more meat per rib, but we both liked the beef ribs the best. Not as falling-off-the-bone as other places I've tried, but there was a decent amount of meat and it was seasoned and sauced very well. The mac and cheese was a little bland, and we didn't finish it. Overall, it was a good price for friendly service and good BBQ. We would go back and try other sides besides the mac! I also like supporting such a longtime local biz. read more

Drove by many times, now I'm here. Some of the friendliest service I have ever HAD! I ordered togo and was expertly guided by Cynthia. She pointed me to the $14.99 1/2rack and side lunch special. I was having trouble deciding which side and asked how the potato salad was made, she quickly grabbed me a tasty sample. Potato salad it is! Really good, sweet style but not too sweet. I usually prefer mustard base but their is REALLY GOOD! The 'stirred vegetables' well seasoned and not overcooked. The ribs were ok, bite through but not fall off the bone, slightly chewy at parts. We opened the food containers and immediately noticed the membrane was not removed from the ribs, after a few bites we left the rest and threw them away. The meat was tough and not tasty at all. I should have checked Yelp before ordering from this place. The full slab of beef ribs was incredibly tough; I could not bite through them, so I gave them to my dogs. The full slab had six or seven bones, fewer than I've received elsewhere, but since it was terrible, I'm not complaining about the smaller portion. Was looking for a good, hole in the wall barbecue joint. What I found was definitely hole in the wall but not good barbecue and definitely not good service. -Take Out counter was barely staffed, just an occasional person walking from the kitchen every 10 minutes. -Few staff that were there seemed apathetic to serving. They were audibly goofing off in kitchen while a line of people waited aggravated in the lobby. One woman was kind and caring but was definitely overworked. -Order was about 20-30 minutes late and food wasn't good, like grocery store frozen bbq. -The prices they have displayed in the lobby aren't the actual prices. One woman ordered some sort of rib plate for $48 since that's what it said on the menu, but the staff informed them after they got their check it was actually $59 and that price was outdated. The food is sub par and I would never go back. However, I want to call out that the front employees were great. Very kind and seemed genuinely doing their best. Service 4/5 Food 2/5 the BBQ taste like someone from another country's interpretation - just put sweet BBQ sauce on everything! The brisket was thin, unappetizing slices of meat. We also got the shrimp, which was just dry skewered shrimp with you guessed it... bbq sauce on it! Not even jumbo prawns which I typically think of when it comes to grilled shrimp. Mac n cheese... it made Kraft look gourmet. The baby back ribs were at least super tender, making it the most decent. Lastly, the corn bread was worse than you'd make from a box at home. Funny story, first let me say the food is very good, the people are nice. I got a certificate for 25 from the original owner years ago. Not a coupon a certificate and the new owner didn't want to honor it. I was perplexed because again it's the same restaurant, same name just different owner and the certificate was authenticated/stamped. Ok, no problem we stayed and had lunch instead of buying the 175.00 worth of food we went there to get. During the meal the new manager said I will give you something off. We were happily surprised. When the check came we got the veterans discount= $1.60 off. I can't make this up lol. Wowwww veterans, not even 10 percent. It was too funny. I ordered dinner tonight for my family and was looking forward to our meal. I love supporting veteran owned businesses and Ribs USA has been around for years. After receiving my order, I looked through it to make sure my order was complete. The woman who worked there rolled her eyes at me and told me to "stop manhandling the food." She informed me that "she has been in the service industry for over 20 years" and "that she doesn't make mistakes." I asked her why she was being rude and she rolled her eyes at me a second time and sarcastically told me to drive home safely. After unpacking the food at home, I was not surprised to discover that we were missing an item. The ribs that we ordered were tasteless, the tri tip was tough and the garlic bread was horrible. We were all very disappointed with our meals. We will not be ordering from RIbs USA ever again and I would not recommend this establishment. read more
