We have been to Vesuvius a handful of times already, and each time our experiences have been consistently good. The food has been delicious and good quality. We have ordered the shrimp gondola for appetizer, which I highly recommend. So far, we have ordered and tried the branzino, seafood zafferano, chicken Parmesan, and Chianti short ribs and so far every dish we have tried has been fantastic. The customer service has been friendly and accommodating. The ambiance is casual, upscale, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated with deep blues, orange, and gold. There's a large bar with plenty of seating and outdoor patio. We love coming to Vesuvius each time and love the local vibe.

New Italian restaurant that my girlfriends and I tried. Located very conveniently off of I-270 in Urbana. The cocktails we ordered were Cafe Mezzanotte, Ischia Velvet, and The Soma Smash - all were excellent. For antipasti, we tried eggplant rollatine and lasagna Fritta - both good but preferred the eggplant. There was freshly baked bread on the table, however, they took it away once our entrees arrived. Disappointed with that because a few of us were looking for it For the main entrees: 2 of us ordered the seafood zafferano, a shrimp scampi, choppino, gluten free pasta chicken Marsala, fettuccine carbonara, Caesar salad with grilled salmon, gnocchi mamma Mia in pesto sauce! All the gals - enjoyed it!!! Portions were pretty good that half of us had leftovers! Dessert - the birthday girl had her HBD song sung and an ice cream, and the girls all shared a crème brûlée. OVERALL: food (especially the freshly made pasta), company, service and ambiance - EXCELLENT. I will come back again - maybe for lunch or on a different day where there's not a crowd. Heads up: First, I highly recommend reservations especially for a bigger group (we were 8) especially on a Friday night. Very crowded, many people waiting to be seated. Second, the space is a little small though beautifully decorated - the noise can get very loud that my watched sent me loud noise notification while we were there. Third, there's plenty of parking but be careful due to entrance is in close proximity to a Popeyes drive thru.

We have been to Vesuvius several times. Love everything about it. The servers and staff are well trained, the food is always consistently good, and it's a great go-to in Urbana. I've been there for dinner with friends, lunch with the ladies and for Happy Hour. I highly recommend Vesuvius!

A great dine-in experience! Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Enjoyed my Steak-and-Eggs from the brunch menu. Definitely will come back in the future.

We had the pleasure to have lunch here yesterday. They have only been opened for last than 2 weeks. Everything went pretty smoothly with one hiccup which was addressed immediately. Service was wonderful and food was delicious. The restaurant felt bright and vibrant. We were served infused fruit water and complimentary bread shortly after seated. We ordered the grilled octopus to start. Perfectly cooked and delicious. For entrees, we got: - mussels fradiavola (an appetizer)- big portion, delicious, a kick but not too spicy - chicken vesuvio panini- all the flavors marrying together- each bite was a perfect bite - chicken parmigiana panani- (opted without any sides)- solid - tortellini genovese- this was the hiccup- it came out almost cold- however, the owner was at the front of the house, was very apologetic and got a new one made quickly. And offered a dessert on the house. Overall, a great experience and looking forward to our next visit.

My first time at Vesuvius Urbana and I already know I'll be back and a huge part of that is because of Kyra! Kyra was honestly one of the sweetest waitresses I've ever had. From the moment we sat down, her energy was so warm and genuine. She kept checking in on me and my boyfriend, not in an overbearing way, but in a way that made us feel like she truly cared about our experience. You can tell she loves what she does. She recommended an alcoholic drink for me, and it was SO good, literally perfect. Between that and the amazing food, everything was already great, but Kyra took it to another level. Her personality, attentiveness, and kindness made the whole night feel special. She also convinced me to get dessert, and I'm so glad she did--we got a lava cake to go and it was 100% worth it! If anyone deserves Employee of the Month, it's definitely Kyra. She made our first visit unforgettable!

Absolutely love. The service is top notch, food is delicious, decor was stunning and cocktails were so creative. My husband and I stopped for their happy hour after work and sat at the bar. We ordered the soma smash, dirty neo martini, the shrimp, beef carpaccio and misticanza salad. 10/10. We'll definitely be back

Nice atmosphere, good service. The complimentary fresh, soft bread had a good olive oil mix. Starters: Cream of Crab soup was well done. The Marcello Flatbread had a perfect spicy sauce with flavorful meat. Penne Troisi came with a nice spicy rose sauce. Sadly, the filet mignon tips with it, were overcooked, and lacked any flavor. Fettuccine Alfredo had perfectly fresh cooked noodles, but the sauce itself was very bland. The music playing throughout the restaurant was Latin; a bit odd for an Italian restaurant. It's an ok restaurant; a little pricey for the overall quality. Would rather drive another 10 minutes and go to Manalu- for the same price you get a better Italian atmosphere and food (and they play Italian music for your dining experience).

Ambience was great. Food was superb! Went for lunch as a trial at this new , only 2 weeks old, establishment. From the grilled octopus as an appetizer to our entrees. The saffron sauce on my seafood fettuccine was divine. My husband had the linguine vongole, the broth was terrific. Cocktails were also a hit. Service was excellent! We will be returning, and perhaps when we return the patio will be open for dining!!!

The food was great and not too heavy, with a great presentation. The service was excellent, we were checked on very often and well taken care of. The ambiance and aesthetics of the place were very pretty and good vibes.

We came here to celebrate a personal milestone and we did it at the last moment. Luckily, there was a table for it. We did not know what to expect, but some menu items had a nice twist to the dish. However, one dish was by far the best: the deviled eggs. The sauce and the prep was just amazing. It is not a lot of food and it is $20, but we both thought it was worth it to come back to eat it again. The other dishes we ordered were good, but the most memorable was the deviled eggs. I liked how they had a leaderboard for frequent customers though. That was cool to just stare at. The location has parking on the rocks and it was full by 6 pm on a Thursday. There is outside seating and limited inside seating. The bar area looked fairly busy because it was happy hour time. Its an old timey restaurant with a more mature setting that made us think of places like eating on Kent Island or Annapolis or St. Michaels. It is a hidden gem here - especially where it was located. While the garlic sauce was generous and delicious, the quality of the mussels themselves was disappointing. They were all open, but they had that "off" taste associated with older seafood. * The Main: Things turned around completely with the pork tenderloin. It was cooked perfectly and paired with a very flavorful sauce. Highly recommended! * The Dessert: Finished with the coconut cake. It was incredibly moist--perhaps a touch too sweet for my personal preference, but tasty enough that I'd definitely order it again. Overall, a great find with just a minor hiccup on the seafood. The dill pickle hummus was a standout starter as well. The pork belly and grits is a classic on their menu for a reason... rich, perfectly executed, and totally delivers on the hype. The duck breast and filet with foie gras butter were both exceptional mains... the kind of dishes that remind you why you go out to eat. Do not overlook the sides. When we saw that the line up came with a sweet wine, we politely asked the server if there was any way to switch that specific pour for another wine. She immediately said it was "not possible". The wine sat there untouched. Mind you, we had purchased a full bottle for the table along with the added wine pairings. It was a simple modification for 3 OUNCE pours. Ridiculous. The pours were also inconsistent. The first two courses and wine pairings were exceptional and delicious. As was our appetizer and bottle of wine. When it came to the last course, the dessert. It really left a bad taste in our mouths. The crème brûlée looked like scrambled eggs. It was runny and lumpy. It looked more like cottage cheese than a custard. Like the sweet wine, we all left it untouched. We explained our grievances to the server and she said that she would not tell the chef because he was "sensitive" and she was too afraid of him. As a former server myself, I couldn't help but be upset. When it comes to customer service, your job is to have your guests leave happy and wanting to come back. These are the biggest crabs I've seen anywhere at a price this reasonable. That's the whole equation right there. Which brings me to the drive. I know it sounds backwards to head inland for crabs, and yes, when you've got friends visiting and you point the car away from the water, it takes some explaining. But compare it to a place like Bethesda Crab House, where you're paying for the real estate as much as the crabs. I would rather drive forty five minutes into the country and eat better crabs for less. Those of us in 20854 make this trip constantly, and this place gets talked about in country club circles all the time for exactly that reason: outstanding crabs, unbeatable deal. It's in the same category of open secret as the lobster specials at H Mart at $12.99 a pound, sometimes down to $9.99. Everybody in the know knows. The snow crab is the other reason. It picks clean, juicy, and not too salty. It comes apart fast. No wrangling with rubbery, bendy legs. And you can get it in the all you can eat too. The place feels like a biker bar. Nothing fancy about it, but that's exactly the room you want to be in when you're eating crabs and drinking beer. It also beats Mays, the other spot people mention around there. I've eaten at both. Mays has tiny little crabs. Avery's has some big ones. Not close. And if you're bringing people who don't do seafood, the rest of the menu holds up. The ribs and everything alongside them are outstanding. I've come here with folks who were just along for the ride and watched them go to town. I tried it myself and it was legitimately that good. If the food was a notch better: I'd come more than once a year. I find Mays, Liberty Seafood and Avery's roughly the same, with Mays having the edge over the others (quieter too). For just crabs: order takeaway from Westpointe. For bulking up on food: Avery's. I actually enjoy eating at Avery's -- but it could be so much better if they improved the sides and service. We started with the Grand Caviar tasting, which was the most expensive caviar option on the menu. For the price, I expected much more. The caviar was extremely salty, to the point where it felt like additional salt had been added on top. The tasting included three varieties of caviar. The caviar they used on one was the exact caviar they used in sushi. Our second appetizer, the tuna dish, was significantly better. While the presentation could have been more refined and visually appealing, the flavor exceeded expectations and was one of the stronger dishes we tried. For my entrée, I ordered the branzino. The fish itself was decent, but def not crispy but it was salty. The sauce was salty and the fish was salty making the entire plate feel like salt layered upon salt. Additionally, the skin was advertised as crispy, but it lacked the crisp texture I was expecting. My husband ordered the rainbow trout stuffed with crab. It was enjoyable and probably the most balanced entrée of the evening, though it wasn't particularly memorable. For sides, I ordered the wild mushrooms, and my husband chose the risotto. The risotto had good flavor but seemed slightly undercooked. The mushroom side was also on the salty side, and despite being described as "wild mushrooms," it consisted primarily of portobello mushroom.
