Rice Factory does both my favorite noodles wonderfully! The Pad Kee Mao and Pad Thai noodles are highly flavorful with a spicy kick. They take their spice levels seriously here, but don't worry they will warn you before you subject your taste buds to a fire. I enjoy the spice so I'm certainly a fan. I wish the Pad Kee Mao came with baby corn, but I'm willing to let that go because of how tasty the noodles are. The Pad Thai noodles might be the best I've ever had! FYI: If you're getting noodles veg, it either comes with veg or tofu, not both, so specify if you want both! I tried two desserts here- the fried ice cream and Warm Grand Marnier chocolate souffle (takes 20 minutes to make!) - both were mediocre. Other desserts here don't really sound appetizing to me, but I'm going to take it as a blessing in disguise because I don't come here and overindulge in sweets after a delicious meal, hah! read more

Stop by and tried out the rice factory today in milltown. Nice inside seating with a lot of space. The Tom yon soup was very unique and different from most places I have had. The chicken satay was good and standard , but nice and fresh. The beef pad Thai was very good and some of the better I have had. The pineapple fried rice was terrible. Bland taste and the the worst Thai fried I have ever had. You could not even taste the pineapple and it had no other taste from other ingredients. Probably won't be back again as it did not real stand out for me , but maybe for lunch. Updated after having some other Thai in the surrounding areas. The rice factory chef / owner never heard of white vinegar and chili sauce with Thai food. He told me "You don't know Thai food." Well the owner / chef obviously does not know how to serve thai food with side sauces. Best of luck and can't believe they are still open. read more

The crab rolls were good, although it was so little for $10. My fiancee got the wings, again delicious but 4 small wings for $7?? The entree's weren't too bad. I ordered drunken noodles and my fiancee got the drunken rice. I asked for no chicken in mine but they still gave me chicken. Once I told the waiter he fixed it with no problem. We went pretty close to closing so I felt like they were rushing us. The waiter forgot to add the wings to our bill so we had to come back in after we had left already which was a little annoying. Honestly so so disappointed and upset with the service!!! We are vegan and we ordered the tom kah soup and the pad thai. There was such a big debate between the staff regarding if there was fish sauce in the meal which made us weary/concerned to even order anything. Not a good first impression.. Although the food came out fast, it definitely did not taste fresh at all- the food was cold! You could tell that the pad thai was not made fresh and looked and tasted leftover. The plating was not nice either and seemed messy. The tom kah soup smelt SO HORRIBLE we started losing our appetite so we sent it back without touching it. At the end they didn't take it off the check and we had to tell the lady in the front about the situation. She fought with us for 5 minutes saying we ordered that and that no other restaurant would give us a refund in which we told her they would. She stormed away saying that she needs to talk to the manager only to come back in 1 minute with the check and said "i'll just pay for it here" (as if shes paying for it??) and gave us the right check but hovered over us as we paid for it. I was glad to find a Thai option in East Brunswick suburbs because... let's face it, not too many options here. Overall, I could almost instantly tell that this wasn't authentic Thai but again, a Chinese-run Thai restaurant... so my expectations were low. Their Tom yum goong soup was pretty decent. Fragrant and not too watery in a large bowl. But the rest of the meal consisting of pad thai and whatever else was largely forgetful belly stuffers. I'll just say this - that's not thai food. Instead of copying thai recipes, why not hire actual thai chefs and do it right? We got take out on a Tuesday night so it wasn't busy. I was sorely disappointed. Ordered one vegetable massaman curry ($18) and paid $3 to substitute brown rice. Then ordered a Vegetable Roti Canai ($9). Couldn't believe what we received. Microscopic portion of rice for $3 extra (see photo... glasses for size reference). The vegetable roti canai was swimming in grease and looked almost like a fried mushy tortilla. The curry was supposed to have extra veg and tofu but there was very little, the majority of the portion was sauce. The sauce was tasty but the outrageous prices for the skimpy portions but a bad taste in my mouth. Will stick with the other Thai place in town. read more

A huge disappointment. I love Thai Food and this was some of the worst I have had, with the exception of their chicken satay which was good but a little heavy on the salt. The place to go is either River Thai in South River or Thai Kitchen in Bridgewater. Both of them have their good and bad but, on the whole, not a let down like this place. Not to mention, you have to beg and pay for extra peanut sauce because they give you an ounce with the food and, even after paying, the amount you get is what other restaurants give for free. Not nice to nickel and dime customers when the prices are all more than their competition. Let's just say, gave this place a fair try more than once but there won't be a third visit from us. read more

I came in with mixed expectations, some telling me how it was their go to thai place and some saying it was mediocre... at best. My family and I came in during a weekday lunch. The service was good hence the bonus star. The food however was average, below average for Thai. We got: - Tempura salmon, which had a nice slight crisp and a decent flavor. This doesn't scream Thai, but it was pretty good. - Duck curry, which was way watery and lacking that richness curry should have. - Lemongrass noodles, which was a bit on the blander side. What really got to me was - they asked nothing about spice levels and everything turned out 100% mild. If I am going to a Thai place, I expect them to at least offer to burn my mouth off. Rice Factory is a consistently good Thai spot. While there's really nothing out of the ordinary here, you can definitely expect quality food each time. This was my second time here and we came with a big group early Sunday evening and had no issue getting seated. However, if you're coming during peak times I'd recommend making a reservation because I did notice it was getting filled up later in the evening. Drunken Noodles are on point here and a level 2 spicy (spicy levels range from 0 - 3) was the perfect amount for me. I ordered the vegetable spring rolls, chicken sate, vegetable pad thai, chicken pad see ew, vegetarian green curry, and massaman curry with chicken! All choices were very tasty and spice level 2 was perfect for my family. However, the side of rice (I ordered sticky rice) was really small. That was until a friend took my husband there one night.. he came home raving about how delicious his meal was. And this guy is not easily thrilled. LOL. I ordered some dim sum for appetizer.. crab meat stuffed ravioli... was totally bland, would not try again, unfortunately... but the rest of the meal was very tasty. Massaman curry with shrimp--just what I wanted it to be. They are very stingy with the rice, though... but, the rice was sticky and delicious! The Rice Factory is close to where I work and my group loves it! The food is fresh and delicious with big portions. They have the perfect options for some of our picky eaters, as well as gluten free folks. Before Covid, we would eat at the restaurant, which is always clean and the staff friendly. The food comes out fast and hot. We have now done quite a bit of take out in the pandemic. This week I accidentally placed an order for the wrong day and had to call and cancel. They were closed when I called so I left a message. I was surprised when they called me promptly when they opened the next day to make sure my order was cancelled. I was very impressed! I started with the dim sim appetizer which was good, but the 5 stars goes to my Pad Thai entree I had here. It was the best Pad Thai I had thus far in NJ. I ordered it with a medium spice level, and it came out just how I requested. The sauce was a perfect balance of spice, sweet, and savory, and the peanuts gave it a nice crunch. A nice taste of Thai . I have to admit when I'm wrong, I was wrong. All too often an isolated visit or incident at any place may lead to a less than acceptable dining experience and I jumped a bit too quickly here previously especially being that they were new upon my initial visits. Well they definitely swung it around and got it right. Having visited this chow shop on multiple occasions the past few years I can honestly say that We've been droid almost all the dishes. The pad Thai is awesome, the multiple rice dishes kick butt and they have a unique slant on squid. I'm not normally a big drunken noodles kind of a guy but they have converted me. Now I do love the flavor of their tom yom soup but this is one thing that I can't buy into. Tom yom must start to get your nose a running upon the 2nd sip and unfortunately their version is just not spicy enough. So, far from a failure but just doesn't hit me spicy-0-meter scale. I am not happy however with their prices and therefore I cannot give them a five, it's not a fine dining establishment but it is a little bit more upscale than most. The prices are in the mid to lower 20s for dinner or even higher based on the product. I think it's a little too high for Thai food in Milltown. Charming establishment clean with good service. The staff is nice but we always ended up with a slow waiter. I'm starting to think it's the same guy. smh Prices are pretty average for a nice upscale Chinese joint- how I see it sorry. We were referred to eat here from other Gluten-Free friends and once we got there I was skeptical that our 10yo Autistic son would like anything on the menu. This restaurant is still just as good as it was 5 years ago. I got the grilled beef and it was cooked nicely without being too tough. The tamarind sauce was a little salty but went well with the sticky rice. They gave a good portion size that you could finish in 1 meal. Everything tasted really fresh. The apple crepe for dessert was delicious and freshly made. It came out warm. We got the ginger ice cream with it. It tasted homemade and had pieces of candied ginger in it. I thought the Worcestershire sauce was odd with this kind of dish and I was right. It added no substance at all. The crab meat and shrimp did not appear to be fresh while the ravioli just did not taste like anything. It was a disappointing start to the meal. I ordered the Wild Boar as an entrée ($25). The boar tenderloin was sautéed with garlic, green peppercorns, basil, mushrooms, and asparagus. This was a superb dish. The boar was extremely tender and the sauce was great as well. I do not remember tasting any asparagus in the dish, but everything else complemented the boar well. This was also my first time eating boar I believe and I was very impressed the way it was prepared. Will I go back? I will. Lots of entrees I was interested in trying. read more

Super happy with our meal from here. Royal Massaman Curry was absolutely delicious. I did 2/3 on the spice scale and it was kinda hot. I could handle a bit more heat, but am nervous the 3/3 heat may be out of control. The 1/3 pad thai had a nice little kick, but not so bad my 1.5 year old couldn't handle it. Wife did a beef stir fry that I didn't even get to taste, so I guess she liked that. Main courses were pad thai, which was good but a slightly sweeter than we like. Also had seafood pineapple rice, Shrimp and bay scallops were good, but squid was a little chewy. Not only is the food immaculate for a family owned restaurant that offers all the favorites of your everyday Thai restaurant, but keeps the menu brief cause if they didn't I don't believe the food would come out as fast as it does!
