The bulgogi was not as fatty as I'd preferred. And the K chicken Inaria were definitely distinctive in the heavily sweet tang and Mayo dressed so unique to Korean fried chicken. The kimbap are very good: everything individually seasoned as it should be, with lots of filling and just a very thin layer of perfectly-cooked rice. Spot on. The rolls are huge, too. My only critique is that sometimes the meat fillings (chicken, pork, or bulgogi) are a little dry and overcooked--but truly, nominally so. The menu is set up in a simple way and it's easy to figure out what you want if you're unfamiliar with the food/style. Frustrating for folks who live a little farther uptown. It's comparable to Japanese inari. Inari is essentially fried tofu skin/packets that is filled w/ seasoning (especially sesame) that you can choose to dip in soy sauce. Surprisingly tasty kimbap served in a little takeaway stall in SoHo. Mushroom kimbap was super savory and really stands on its own whether you are a meat eater or a vegetarian. Didn't try the pork or tuna salad but they were also both apparently really good. Everything is well balanced with pickle and vegetable and it was overall really satisfying but light on the palate. Presentation is also reasonably pretty for a little takeaway box and I do appreciate that they do give you the little overstuffed ends while still making it look intentional. This is a small store (no indoor dining) near the edge of SOHO with a small menu, but very consistent food the past 2 times I've been there. The rice bowls are filling, with a generous amount of meat and toppings. I think the food is premade and reheated, but they are assembled on the spot. I ordered the spicy pork kimbap, bulgogi tofu bite, spicy pork tofu bite, k chicken tofu bite, and a sparkling yuzu drink. The total came out to be ~$27 and was very filling. Both kimbaps and tofu skins were good but I preferred the kimbaps since there was more filling (i.e. egg, pickled vegetables) other than rice and meat. This place is a really solid Korean option in the Tribeca/SoHo area. I was expecting this place to be Korean fusion, but was pleasantly surprised that the flavors were pretty legit and would not be out of place in K-town. For what it's worth the cashier and cook were speaking in Korean and I took that as a big positive! We had the bulgolgi kimbap and a rice kitchen bowl with bulgolgi and mushrooms. The kimbap was great - the ingredients included radish, carrot, spinach and burdock root. Super tasty. The bowl was almost just like the kimbap but in a bowl form. I wanted to try the spicy pork or chicken, but my 3 year old would not be able to handle. Next time I'll have to try their spicy meats.
