Rice Kitchen serves kimbap and rice bowls in a fast casual setting in a mildly elevated format. I got the kimbap, something I love and grew up eating. It was made fresh to order, and pretty delicious. I -am- used to getting kimbap at a cheaper price point, but that's comparing Queens and Manhattan pricing/rent which isn't fair. That being said, the quality was pretty good and it was quite tasty. The textures blended well together and the nori was fresh. The staff were friendly. It's a small space, but there is some standing counter space for you to eat your food if you're trying to stick around. I'm glad they are in this area, though, since good korean food options are a bit lackluster in this neighborhood, and in that way they're serving an important role. Give them a shot! read more

Yummy spot for a quick bite for lunch! I ordered the Tofu bite set (sesame tuna, spicy pork, bulgogi, chicken) with kimchi. They were all delicious! My favorite was the bulgogi! Quite filling too. I didn't think it would be enough food but it was. The sesame tuna was very interesting- the sesame flavor came through well. I thought the tuna would overpower it but it didn't. Service was very fast though theres not much seating inside. Seating is very tight- you're crammed between the kitchen and the wall- probably ~2 feet of space with the table and your stool and only around 4 stools total in the restaurant. Overall, I will definitely return! Their kimbap also looks delicious! read more

Needed a small and quick dinner while shopping around SoHo so dropped in on the weekend. We ordered a few different rolls including bulgogi. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and our order came out in several minutes. Flavors were good and I appreciated the amount of bulgogi and other ingredients in the rolls. A touch on the pricier side for gimbap but again given the meat/veggie ratio over the rice, I thought it generally made sense. The place is small with a small space to eat while standing if you'd like against the wall. I'd recommend trying if you're feeling a nice healthy and quick bite. read more

I would rate 4.5/5 for food only because its kinda? Expensive. I get that we get premium pricing in NYC for everything but you can get this cheaper in Ktown or NJ. However, it was good quality Kimbap, and i like the fact that they filled it 80% w good ingredients vs. heavily filling it with rice. read more

We were looking for a good cheap eat in Soho that wasn't Cava, Naya, etc. and stumbled on Rice Kitchen. The place is pretty small with standing room only and no bathrooms, but the food was pretty good. We ordered the Rice Kitchen bowl with bulgolgi and it was pretty good. I thought it would be more like Bibimbap but it turned out to more similar to kimbap that was in a bowl. I really liked all the ingredients in there especially the egg and the pickled onion. Also, they didn't have too much rice which was nice because I don't love it when the rice doesn't have a lot of flavor. Overall, not a bad place to eat at all in Soho especially if you're looking for a quick pick me up that's not just dessert. read more

Took out bulgogi kimbap. It was rolled well with small amount of rice and a large portion of bulgogi. Tastes good while not deviating from the traditional taste. I would give 5 star for bulgogi Kimbap. Will try other dishes later. read more

As a huge fan of Yubu just two blocks down, I was curious to see how Rice Kitchen compared. The storefront is much smaller, with barely any space to stand and order, much less to sit down and eat. Luckily, the food is prepared fairly quickly and a lot of their foot traffic seems to come from online orders. I noticed a lot of people ordered their Bowl but I specifically came for their yubuchobap, which is the Korean version of inari, sweet fried tofu pockets stuffed with rice and other fillings. I ordered a set of four bites ($13), and chose bulgogi, spicy pork, mushroom, and black sesame tuna. I really liked that there wasn't an upcharge on certain toppings like at Yubu, but there is definitely a smaller selection of protein options available. I really enjoyed the mushroom, surprisingly, which packed a huge umami punch with the soy marinade. The tofu pouches are a touch sweeter at Rice Kitchen but they are quite generous with the toppings. Overall, a solid contender against Yubu if you prefer more entrée options (they also have kimbap available too) but if you want seating or more topping options, I would recommend Yubu nearby. read more

A closer alternative to tofu skin bites for those in Soho and don't wanna go all the way to YUBU! I was happy to also find that they had a black sesame tuna protein option that you won't be able to find at YUBU. It sounded very unique and the taste was also a fun twist. I really did taste the sesame flavoring. It looks like a small bite but I had three and I was already full. They only had 1-2 tables outside which was a bit unfortunate especially If I compare this to YUBU which had a whole outdoor seating area (at least during covid) However if you walk a few blocks you can find a park with more seating. read more

I'm not sure exactly what the sauces are but they're so good!! This is my go to lunch spot for pick up/take out every time I'm working from our SoHo office location. You really can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu, but I loved being able to customize my bowl with plenty of protein. read more

I was starving and was looking for a quick fix that would satisfy my hunger. Thankfully, I stumbled on this place and decided to check them out. Their menu is straight forward and easy to order from so I ended up getting their kimbap bulgogi and four assorted tofu bites. I was surprised how artistically beautiful their rolls were and it was tightly wrapped and super delicious and very tasty. Which made it easy for me to pop them in my mouth as I took it to go. They don't have seating inside as this place whatever because their food is really good so I'm not going to complain. As for their tofu bites, it was amazing. It hit such a high note and burst with umami flavor. I esp enjoyed the mushroom. Silky and delicious. I definitely recommend this place for sure. For the portion, $12 for 4 tofu bites loaded with hearty toppings is pretty reasonable in this economy. However, the flavors and seasonings were very Americanized. If you're looking for authentic Korean yubu, you will be very disappointed (like me). Sorted by personal preference: (1) Bulgogi (2) Mushroom (3) Spicy Pork. Bulgogi tasted average but nothing impressive. The spicy marinated pork here was exactly like Chinese canned spiced pork cubes (五香肉丁) lol... Totally not what I expected from a Korean spot. The chopped mushrooms were very bouncy and well-seasoned. It proves sometimes vegetarian options are much safer than the meat ones lol. read more

Solid Korean fusion takeout spot w some tables to eat outside at their post Covid shelter seating. Servisem e is fast friendly and streamlined. Salad or rice, protein, sauce next.... Also serve sides and some rolls too. Everything is already prepared they just have to put in bowls. This past weekend I took my dog into the city and grabbed a Spicy Pork Kimbap from Rice Kitchen. It was egg, carrot, spinach, burdock root, radish, spicy pork and rice wrapped in seaweed just like a sushi. The pork wasn't that spicy but the whole thing tasted very fresh and good. It was also VERY filling. That and the outdoor seating makes it a place i will definitely go to again if in the area. read more

This is a smaller hole-in-the-wall place that we randomly stumbled upon. My order was the Rice Kitchen Bowl with K chicken kimbat, with some kind of garlic aioli sauce on top. It was loaded down with food and was prepared pretty quickly. The workers inside were also very nice. There wasn't a proper inside eating area, but they had a little outside eating area. I was thankful they had it, but my only critique might be just giving it a good clean, dusting, etc. But overall I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

Ordered: Tofu Bite Set of 4 (~$11): rice stuffed in a tofu pouch and topped with classic sauce; 4 flavors: bulgogi, Korean chicken, mushroom, and egg Kimbap - Bulgogi (~$12): rice and vegetables rolled in seaweed with egg, radish, carrot, spinach, burdock root Aya's take: I have a sick obsession with Korean food and more recently these tofu pouches! They're so simple yet so delicious! My favorites were the bulgogi and Korean chicken. What really made these stand out was the classic sauce. It was unbelievably delicious; I wish I had it as a sauce on the side too. The 4 Tofu Bites are honestly enough food and pretty filling on their own but I couldn't resist the Bulgogi. It was all the vibrant colors that got me, if I'm being honest. I love that it's not loaded with rice and the Bulgogi takes up a good 40% of each roll. Delicious flavors, well-made, and quick service. Definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the area. read more

I'm not sure why this place gets such hype - perhaps because of the dearth of Korean food in the area? I had the bulgogi Kimbap ($12.50) and the set of 4 tofu bites ($12 - I picked all except bulgogi; I liked egg the most because it was most simple). I did like all the fillings generally, but most of them were a bit too sweet for my liking. The bigger fault though was the rice. In the kimbap, it's a very thin layer of rice to maximize the filling but it's to the point where it becomes not enough. For the tofu bites, the rice is enough but it's congealed and glued together. read more

Went to this place at 11:30am before shopping in soho. Food was very fresh and very good. I got the kimbap and really liked it. The bulgogi meat is very good. The bowls are a lot of food (my wife got one and ate maybe half of it). There's room to stand and eat inside but we went to the park close by and got a table. read more

(Bulgogi & Korean Chicken Rice Bowl - 85% | B) - Rice Kitchen is a fast-casual take on Korean American food, serving rice bowls with 2 protein choices for around $15. On the surface level, the presentation is appealing and the colors are balanced to make a nutritious meal. However, the seasoning of the food needs to be refined as I found the chicken to completely overpower every single component of the rest of the dish and the pickles to be unacidic. Each component of the dish is cooked nicely, but the delicate balance is missing from the dish to make it next level. In terms of atmosphere, the interior is rather small, but it looks nice! I wish I can give this place a better rating, but the wait time was just far too long for what the food is worth. Ordered the Bulgogi kimbap, which is the "sushi" roll version of bulgogi. And the chicken rice bowl. I waited 30 mins for my order, and on a day where there was not really a long line, about 6 people ahead of me. What I later found out was that the kimbap rolls take the longest. I can attest that the food was good, nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary, easily can get these dishes from Korean town. The kimbap was a very filling dish, and the rolls were huge! No sauces or anything, was rather bland. The chicken bowl had a good kick of spicy and a good amount of pickled veggies, which I loved! The most frustrating thing is I found the wait time to be excruciatingly long, inefficient assembly line. There were two guys working the food orders, someone taking the orders and another guy just watching (?). The two guys working to make the food seemed annoyed and there was no coordination between them and was so random. And I saw both of them making a kimbap, clearly they use orders to train staff. Word of advice, especially during lunch hours, perhaps sent aside kimbaps pre made on the same day so the wait time is shorter. 30 mins plus is just not worth the wait for takeout food. read more

Was in Chinatown and wanted to grab a quick bite while making my way up for couple more blocks and found this place on yelp! There's no seating inside, but there is an open space right in front with some tables and seats. it does take a bit of time for your order to come out, but the staff is very friendly. The seasoning of the rice was perfect, but the marinade on the meats on top were a bit too sweet for my personal taste. These are SMALL, and you'll finish each one in like 3-4 bites so if you're hungry, make sure to order a decent amount! Probably one of each flavor so you can get a taste of everything (: Was a little disappointed in the yuzu mint ade b/c there wasn't much ice so the drink never got cold/felt refreshing and felt like it could have had more yuzu flavor ): But it was definitely a good pair with the tofu skin pouches! read more

Found out about Rice kitchen on my friend's IG story and was determined to check it out during my visit to NYC. It definitely is deserving of the 5-star reviews. So deserving I'm joining the crowd to write one for my own record! My friend and I both got the tofu set ($13) which came with 4 mix-and-match tofu bites. All the flavors I got (spicy chicken, spicy pork, mushroom, and bulgogi beef) were enjoyable. Not only the set was aesthetic, it actually tasted good which made my tummy very happy. Note that there's no indoor seating (you might want to get it to-go during winter time). There's a small outdoor seating area with about 3 small tables when I came. Service was quick, I was in and out in 10 mins. Overall, perfect for a quick lunch & satisfying for the price. Walked it off by shopping around SoHo after. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Service (5/5): We were able to get someone's attention to order and we were refilled on water often. The food was organized by appetizers and entrees that arrive all at the same time. The wait between ordering and food felt reasonable to short. The waiter also specified that certain dishes quantity (i.e. potstickers) could be increased to accommodate our party size for an extra cost. Food (5/5): TLDR; every dish was honestly SO good; I was surprised and will rank the items by 'must get' to skippable: Short Rib Bao Bun (3 pc): The short rib was so tender and flavorful. The bao bun was soft. The sauce was thick and worked well with the short rib. Pork Potstickers (5 pc): I preferred this over the lobster and scallion dumplings. The exterior skin is pan-fried with a nice glaze, hint of truffle. The bite was umami from the creaminess of the Parmigiano Reggiano.
