    Beef dish.

I can say I have been here twice in 2 weeks. The food was amazingly seasoned just added a little garlic salt to my beef dish that was so tender. The veggie roll was delicious but a little greasy. And yes I am still going to order again. The barbecue chicken on a stick was good as well. It has carrot sticks and green beens inside. Can't wait to go back.

I stopped by Rice n' Roll for the first time and got to meet the sweet lady who runs this restaurant. Right now there is only curbside pickup, but I was told that the restaurant plans to allow customers inside again within a matter of weeks. This has to be the best Filipino restaurant on the east side. It is the only restaurant on the east side I know of that offers lechon kawali. My order of lechon kawali came with a generous portion of super crispy pork belly and salad with cucumbers and tomatoes. I really enjoyed this meal. It's been a challenge finding many casual restaurants that offer good roast pork or lechon. I was also given a free bowl of lemony chicken and rice soup that was delicious. I am looking forward to trying more items on the menu and seeing the restaurant when it opens up again.

Had a craving for Filipino food and wanted to try this. Everything taste really good. Get bubble tea with taro. Hopefully next time I can try their Halo Halo.

Overall it's a two but the service was great. They don't have a lot of options. Not even the sausage! They microwaved our food in styrofoam, why microwaving our food anyways? Food was meh. I enjoyed their fried fish though. Super crunchy. I came here mainly though to try their halo halo since my Filipino friend said it's the best halo halo he has ever tried. And I disagree with him. The beans weren't even fully cooked. Won't come back.

Great place for some Authentic Pinoy grubs & native delicacies. A future pit stop for lunch breaks, & is highly recommended.

Found a Philippine treasure @ St. Clair Shores. Serving authentic Filipino Dishes to quench one's hunger for native tastes. Bicol express, sinigang, pork satay/ barbecue, tortang talong, pancit bihon, spring rolls, pork sisig( yummy)!!! Halo-halo! Hallelujah, packed with some goodness !

I stopped in for the first time today. The woman working the counter was very friendly and sweet, she made some great suggestions about what to try! I ended up trying a combo with the BBQ pork skewer, pancit, and some little spring rolls with a sweet dipping sauce. It was all delicious! The pork was well done and the sauce tasty, the pancet was great, and the spring rolls were delicious and crunchy without being greasy. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

I have only eaten at rice and roll three or four times I'm going to be totally honest with you I have always enjoyed my meals there but I cannot tell you what I ordered because everything is written in Filipino and you have to just kind of Pointe at the stuff on the buffet table and they will put it on your plate and then I think they just charge you according to how much you have on your plate or something I did recognize one thing Lupita's they were five for $3.50 but other than that they have like some fried rice stuff pan fried noodles stuff and some fried vermicelli stuff and then I think you get scoops of different kinds of meat on top of that and I'm not even sure. Last time I was there the noodles we're sitting out for a while and the girl with the back room for like 5 minutes with them I have a feeling she threw them in the microwave I didn't hear the Bell go off but I did hear the door of a microwave close. Oh well the foods good if you're Filipino you can go in there in order in Filipino because the people in front of me we're ordering stuff but I didn't understand what they were ordering so it's a little tricky but I always eat all the food I get there and I'm going to probably go back maybe I will brush up on my Filipino before I go back. I really think the help could do a better job explaining what the food is and how much it cost that would be a huge help

Counter Service. Light delicate balance of flavors and ingredients. Common comfort food. Menu may be rotational, so call ahead of you have a favorite. 3 COMBO may be steep for $9-ish but it serves 2. PORK BBQ - a good balance of marble meet and marination. Just right sauce. Great aroma when reheated. FRIED RICE - right mixture of ingredients. Not greasy. LONGANISA SAUSAGE - ordered from somebody somewhere. Nicely prepared. 2-pcs for the COMBO. CRAB OMELETTE - my first. Not bad. Fake Crab is used. PORK ADOBO is Tagalog style (sour/vinegar stew) with a taste similar to PAKSIW (repurposed leftover lechon by Bisayans). Pour that soup-ish/liquid over plain rice/or any rice...delicioso! PANCIT is made of rice vermicelli (my preference) instead of yellow noodles. Texture with light flavor. Truly acts as a rice substitute in a different form. DRINKS are bottled and canned. KROGER WATER is $1. SODA is $1.25. RETAIL (Brown Coffee) - skip it. Ridiculously fake instant coffee with unpronounceable ingredients. Made from Indonesia, distributed from Mandaue City (hello Cebu - featured in Foodnetwork). Leave it alone. Just a name with Vanilla. Great SERVICE. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. The Gals will gladly assist. Small VENUE is superbly clean and organized.

Sinigang. One piece of meat and the rest Gabi.

I'm very disappointed. I used to come here often. However every time I come now it's a problem. I got a take out today with sinigang and only got one piece of meat. For spending $15 that's all I got. I'm never coming back. I was so pissed I didn't even eat my food. Just sad. My fiancé happens to like this restaurant and now he swears we will never come back.

We love this place. Pancit and lumpia are my favorite. I really like the BBQ skewers also. Tried the shaved ice today and think.they use real syrup. Yumm.

This was our first time trying Rice 'n Roll and we are so happy we did! They were so nice and welcoming that it was just like I was at my Tita's house. My boys loved it and we brought some extra food home for my husband to try. We'll be back for sure next we want our Filipino food fix.

This consists of pancit bihon (traditional noodle dish), chicken inasal (yes!! boneless thigh), pork bbq on a stick, rice, cucumber slices, dipping sauce and choice of drink. Fresh, hot and generous enough for me to make two meals out of it. Very clean restaurant with a nice vibe. Gentleman working the counter is personable and so welcoming. Other than fresh hot entrees you will see packaged baked goods , condiments and a few assorted gift items for sale. The food? Ahhhmaaazing. Tastes like it should and looks like it should. I know why. Lola came out with the home cooked entrees, placing the pancit and other select choices in the heated serving pans. Who is Lola you ask? Well, that is the term for Grandma in the Filipino dialect of Tagalog. Someone's Lola was back there doing what she knows from memory, traditions and simply cooking with love and joy to please whoever she is sharing her food with. Yes there were other talented hands working alongside Lola but she is the key to making the food as it should be. I have already raved to my family and friends about trying Yma Ymas. Definitely give them a try, you will NOT be disappointed. You're missing out if you don't. I am going to return and continue supporting this deserving small business. I feel my Filipino pride well represented in this establishments cuisine. This is the REAL. Maraming salamat Ymas Ymas for doing it RIGHT! I hope you are able to do more special themed late afternoon/evening events that hilite Metro Detroit Filipinos talent of ALL ages and not just vocal performers (though I would love to see and hear teen and younger vocalists). Think about those local Pinoys who are crafters, artists, poets, writers, apparel designers , stylists, hairdressers, makeup/hair artists, jewelers, etc. I would support seeing them at the same time supporting Yma Ymas and more importantly supporting our local Pinoy people.

And while I tell you it was fast and fresh service, it was prime time dinner time on a weekend, and the long lines did not slow anyone down, they seemed to have worked out all of the bugs. I love the pineapple drink the most, but the kids got some refreshers, and I love that they still have those fun drinks, I got one the time before. Newly designed 168 Asian Mart:…read more One of my favorite things to do is take people on what I jokingly call international food tourism around Metro Detroit. Not because I'm trying to convert anyone into a foodie. I simply enjoy watching people discover how much of the world exists beyond the handful of grocery aisles they've known their entire lives. For many Americans, walking into an authentic international market can be surprisingly intimidating. We become accustomed to recognizing brands, labels, and packaging. Remove that familiarity and suddenly a routine grocery trip becomes an exercise in navigation. My route usually starts in Clawson at Noble Fish. Anyone who only knows Noble Fish today would have a difficult time understanding what it used to be. The original operation was tiny. You walked into a modest Japanese grocery store and somehow found one of the best sushi counters in Michigan tucked away inside. The closest comparison I can make is the scene from *Wayne's World* when Wayne opens a random door and discovers a room full of highly trained ninjas. You weren't expecting it, which somehow made it even better. Over the years demand did what demand does. The restaurant grew. The market grew. White Wolf arrived. Additional space was absorbed. What was once a small hidden destination has evolved into something much larger while still maintaining the character that made people seek it out in the first place. From there I usually take people to the plaza where ZZang's BBQ is located. I call it the toy store. The plaza contains restaurant supply stores, bakeries, specialty grocers, and enough cookware to make most home cooks reconsider their life choices. There are roasted meats hanging in windows, commercial equipment sitting on shelves, and ingredients most people have never seen before. For newcomers, it is often the first moment they realize these foods were never designed for tourists. They were built for communities. The next stop is H Mart. By this point people have usually relaxed. The initial hesitation disappears and curiosity takes over. Instead of asking what something is, they begin asking how it's used, how it's prepared, and what they should try first. Then we arrive at 168 Asian Mart. Located in Madison Heights on John R Road, 168 has become one of the largest Asian grocery destinations in Michigan. Recent expansion and renovation have transformed the store into something far beyond the market many people remember from years ago. The footprint has grown dramatically, the selection has expanded, and the new food hall has turned the location into a destination rather than simply a place to shop. What I appreciate most about 168 is that it serves as a culmination of everything people experienced throughout the day. The market itself represents dozens of cultures and cuisines under one roof. The food hall allows visitors to sample dishes from across Asia without committing to a full restaurant experience. Just outside, the neighboring plaza connects visitors to an authentic Lebanese marketplace and restaurant, creating an experience that extends well beyond a single grocery store. What starts as a shopping trip often becomes something else entirely. People arrive worried about buying the wrong thing, unable to read half the packaging, and unsure where to begin. A few hours later they're filling baskets with ingredients they had never heard of before and discussing what they plan to cook when they get home. That transformation is probably why I keep bringing people here. Not because the markets are exotic or that the foods are unusual. Because every trip reminds people that entire communities, traditions, and cuisines have existed around them all along. They simply hadn't taken the time to walk through the front door. I love being a personal Food Tour Guide

The 168 restaurant offers a large selection of prepared Chinese dishes sold by the pound - meats, vegetables, noodle dishes, including fresh warm soy milk. You can also place an order for items pictured on the wall by number. We placed an order for the duck soup $10.99 - duck was good but soup broth wasn't flavorful and noodles weren't fresh and were overcooked. It came in a carry out bowl, comparable to an XL size instant ramen bowl. Service in this area was ok, the cashier taking the order was impatient because we could not understand what she was saying and thus took longer to place the order. BBQ - we ordered the roast duck rice meal which came with a lot of rice, chopped duck pieces, steamed green veg and a small container of sauce. Duck meat was very tasty but very cold, and deceivingly a small amount of meat in the meal because it was full of bones. Regardless it was still a decent value for $8.98. Service was quick, but a bit unfriendly as well. I would come back to buy the roasted meats but would buy whole or large cuts (I.e. whole duck, whole chicken), cut it up myself to minimize bones in each bite and warm it up at home.
