Located in Trade Marketplace - a food court. Japanese fusion food. Easy to order from the kiosk. Food came out quickly. My son ordered a poke bowl. Looked good. He said it was pretty good. Tables at the food court were pretty clean. Nice to sit in the open and enjoy the sunshine.

Stopped by for lunch today and unfortunately left hungry with how bad this was. Ricebunn is located in the back corner of Trade Food Hall. Unfortunately the whole area is looking a bit run down, especially for being in Irvine. There wasn't anyone working the front so I used the digital ordering system they had set up. I ordered the Spicy KBBQ Beef Onigiri and the Spicy Salmon Onigiri and both were terrible. The quality of the fish and beef was subpar at best, and they were both very bland and gamey. Everything tasted like it'd been sitting in a fridge or freezer for an extended period of time and was thrown into a microwave before being served. I took one bite of each and unfortunately had to throw them away. There are so many better options for Onigiri out there, so please visit those locations and avoid this place, it's simply not worth it.

Ordered the poke bowl & spicy edamame! It's true, it was SPICY! So I got a sweet sauce on the side & had a delicious meal. There are lots of little gnats where I was sitting but I did enjoy the open sunlight on an overcast day. It was perfect. I've also been here at night and it's also a nice atmosphere. The service was nice :) they explained the sauces I could choose from & made a fresh order for pickup. Loved it! I always get my hot edamame fix from Ricebunn :) It's an excellent source of protein!

So delicious and quick! Good prices and friendly staff! Got the spam musubi which was so good and the perfect size for a snack or quick meal!

Rice Bunn is tucked into a small shopping plaza in Irvine and is such a great find. They have a cute outdoor seating area, which is perfect when the weather is nice. This spot gets very busy around lunchtime, so I highly recommend ordering ahead if you're in a rush. Every time I'm in the area, I stop by and order the quad, and it is absolutely worth it. Each bun is flavorful, fresh, and so satisfying. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. On top of the great food, the staff is always friendly and efficient, even during peak hours. This is a go-to lunch spot for me, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're nearby.

Was hungry and craving something small but not a "snack", yet not a full meal either as I had dinner plans soon. I was in the area and decided to stop by here for a quick bite. It's located inside the Trade Food Hall. Parking here during lunch is a hot mess because it's in the Irvine Business District, so all of the workers in the area come here for lunch and it can get crowded. But during off hours and dinner it's not too bad - just something to keep in mind. Because it's a food hall, its community open seating and no designated seating for each restaurant, you just order your food and then take a seat somewhere in the open space hall. It's basically self-service as you order at the kiosk and not with an actual person. I decided to go with their trio of onigiri for $12, ended up being about $14-$15 after tax. I got the spicy tuna mayo, crab, and kbbq beef. Each onigiri was a hearty size and good value for about $4 each. They fell apart easily and were pretty messy though so I recommend having a fork and napkin ready. Overall it was a good light bite option, and I don't have any complaints.

Was pleasantly surprised how delicious these little pillows of yumminess were! :D Both the Korean BBQ and salmon onigiris were super tasty and full of filling, both on the inside and the top. The Korean BBQ didn't taste like authentic bbq flavor, but it was still savory and delightful. The salmon was not dry (yay!) and was also went very well with the rice. Overall, they were both soft and didn't have any crunch, in case you were looking for that. The dining area is shaded but not totally covered (don't plan to eat here on rainy days). Service was super friendly too. They make massive rice plates (basically a plate form of their rice balls to eat with utensils). I would totally come back to grab some more rice ball onigiris-- check them out!

They charge you tax (normal) then a service fee, then a convenience fee, even if you use the kiosk to place the order yourself? And then it presents a whole screen trying to get you to leave a tip??? Don't leave a tip, they already force you to leave one Speed was pretty fast Food was 4/5, if you can get past the part where there's almost no nori?! For a place that sells rice and NORI, you'd think they would put some more nori?! I don't know if I'd recommend this place, it's good but they got some kinks to work out before I'd come back.

Perfectly handmade Onigiri at affordable price. There is conveniently self service kiosk to order. Rice was warm and makes the taste nicer for some reason. Topping is abundant, though a lil bit salty to my opinion. Located in the chick food court. Def highly recommended!

We tried this today and it was pretty decent. The salmon onigiri was our favorite with the others just being ok. The bulgogi onigiri was sweet, but tasted like a store bought marinade. The construction of the onigiris were solid and everything else about them. The flavors could use some work, especially the shrimp onigiri as it was heavily mayonnaised. Service was great and the gentleman behind the counter was pleasant. We'd come back here and order 3-4 of the salmon ones and it would be a 5 star lunch.

It was good tasting, but I was blind sided. At first, it was easy, you order at the Kiosk and while you wait for your order, you can check out the other eateries to see if there's something else you can try. My gripe was that we got bait and switched with "crab" onigiri for $4.99. The photo showed real crab, and then we got imitation crab which is nothing like the photo. It was good, but makes me wonder if the other options were also imitation... Probably won't be back anytime soon.

I loved this place when it first opened, but the quality has gone downhill. My go-to onigiris were salmon, tuna, shrimp, and bulgogi. The bulgogi used to be great, but after they changed the preparation it now tastes more like carne asada. The salmon, tuna, and rice also used to be consistently fresh, no matter the time of day, but quality noticeably drops in the evenings now. Portions used to be generous, but they've shrunk to match competitors like Tenori, which makes the prices feel unjustified. When I called to complain, there was no apology or accountability. I even stopped by the same week to speak with a main employee, who was defensive instead of receptive. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place for onigiri anymore.

The onigiri is good especially the crab one! I wasn't the biggest fan of the veggie one because it tasted sweet but the rest were really good! The only thing is it did take a while to get our food but we did order a couple of things! The area there is a cute as there is multiple small restaurants in one area so you get to try multiple things at once!

Underwhelming. Expect to pay for overpriced mostly rice with very little filling. I ordered the trio with salmon, kbbq, and tuna mayo and side of wasabi mayo. There's no siracha mayo option so the only way I was able to get a slight flavor was to use the wasabi mayo and that was because of how BLAND the food was. I mean, what do you expect tho when it's mostly rice? The rice also breaks apart easily. Customer service was non-existent too, I definitely regretted leaving a tip due to the bland food and bland service. Don't recommend this place. read more

This is not a snack this is a great meal! I had great doubts when I first visited Ricebunn, as onigiri is generally considered as snack in Japana, but after trying it, I literally loved it, I think it's the best I've ever eaten. I had Onigiri trio with tuna, salmon and kbbq beef. Each of them was fully filled with the meat/fish inside. Also on the top of the riceballs, there were generous amout of meat/fish. Tuna mayo is my favourite. Because of the long line I had to wait a little bit long however the lady on the counter served us truffle edamame which was really nice and delicious. Definitely I will come back and this time try the plate. read more

Ordered from here a few times and their food tastes good, but the rice buns fall apart easily. Their best onigiri would have to be the kbbq one. Their lemonades are my favorite thing on their menu and the macaron ice creams are a good sized dessert (however I wish they didn't put the ice cream in the same bag with my hot food). My biggest issue with this place though is the customer service- during my last visit, the lady at the front talked badly about a customer who complained about her order not being ready at the time she was advised directly to the next customer in line- which I think is extremely rude (and she was also a bit rude to the lady when she was asking about her order initially too). I understand this food hall can get busy especially during lunch hours, but I think the situation was handled very poorly and because of that I will probably not come back. read more

Went here to try the onigiri. The service was nice, it did take a while to get to order but nothing serious. I got the Crab spicy, Tuna spicy, and shrimp mild. The crab one was good, it wasn't very spicy but it tasted decent. The tuna one kind of lacked flavor. When i got tuna mayo spicy i expected it to be more spicy and have seasonings mixed in so it can have a nice taste, it really just tasted like canned tuna (I did order tuna though ‍). The shrimp one i couldn't finish. There was a creamy substance throughout that was extremely salty. It was very overpowering, i tried to kind of pick around it but it was throughout the rice ball. I think it would've tasted fine without the sauce. Overall, not my preference. There are many good reviews so maybe my order was just botched or my tastebuds are structured differently, but the food I experienced wasn't as good as Ive hoped. read more

it's so rare to find vegan onigiri that isn't just plain and ricebunn's vegan onigiri is delicious! what stood out to me was that it has vegan mayo amongst its toppings which makes the onigiri much tastier. we ordered 3 total onigiri and the vegan one was packaged in a separate takeout box which i appreciated. would definitely come again! read more

If you are in OC, you MUST eat here. I went there for lunch with a friend and everything we tried was amazing. I tried the salmon, beef and veggie onigiri. It's all warm made with rice and cooked protein of your choice. The triangles have your choice of protein inside and on top. They all tasted great and flavorful. My friend tried the beef bowl and it was also amazing. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. I also tried their lavender lemonade which was refreshing. Will go again! read more

I came here to pick up a quick lunch. I ordered 4 onigiris: salmon, tuna, vegan & kbbq. I was really surprised by how quick it was to get my food! Perfect for a quick bite. However, the onigiri was okay for the price. It could use a little more filling, but the rice was delicious! I DO NOT recommend the vegan onigiri. It was so bad that it ruined my appetite. The kbbq was good but a little bit salty! If you come here, then definitely order the salmon & tuna!! read more

This place is lovely! The food is delicious! I got the tuna and got it spicy and it reminded me of how my parents would make tuna for us as kids, it was so tasty!! The spicy garlic edamame is full of flavor! I love when the edamame is covered in it's flavor so you really get to taste all of it Overall this place is great! Hands down best Riceballs ever. I love sushi and when I saw onigiri at first years ago, I got really excited. I tried lots of different places in Los Angeles and San Francisco before but Ricebunn is way better than the others. Although they have a really simple menu, they really focus on each item. The portions are satisfying and the onigiris that they serve on a wooden plate are piece of art. I will come back again. read more

I love onigiri and was so excited that this spot opened up so close to my workplace. The atmosphere was nice and the counter girl was friendly enough. The price was decent but a little on the higher side. You pay for freshness. Each came out fresh and hott. I had the kbbq(the best), shrimp, and salmon. The shrimp was not worth it in my opinion because It only had around 4 pieces of the small shrimp. The furikake seasoning was absolutely delicious! I ordered a couple of the fish onigiri, and they were great. This place is open on weekends as well, which is greatly appreciated. If you haven't had onigiri it is like a rice sandwich with a filling in the middle. The price was pretty decent for 3 large onigiri at $12. My friend really enjoyed their lemonades as well. Great little street food-style location and will be back! read more

it was $40 for 2 quartets and a lavender thyme drink, which i didn't actually receive, they gave me a plain lemonade instead. i think this place is expensive for what you get. tried the salmon, shrimp, beef, and tuna onigri. the beef and tuna were whatever, the shrimp sauce was pretty good and the salmon was definitely the best one. but for paying so much, i expected them all to stand out but they really didn't. the staff is nice at least read more

Stopped by the food court to get some Thai food just to find out it was closed so decided to give this place a shot! Really wasn't expecting much protein in the onigiris and thought they would be skimpy but man it was not only filled but they put it on the top too. Everything came out fresh, the portions were generous, and it was the perfect meal. I think you can share it with others but I ordered one for myself. The Original Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodles was easily one of my favorites. The broth was rich but light enough to not feel too heavy. I loved adding all of the ingredients into the steaming bowl myself. The Tomato Sliced Beef Brisket Rice Noodles had a completely different flavor profile with a slightly sweet and tangy tomato broth that paired really well with the tender sliced beef. Both soups had chewy rice noodles that soaked up all of the flavor beautifully. We also tried the Signature Mildly Spicy Chicken Fried Rice Noodles and the Signature Mildly Spicy Beef Fried Rice Noodles. Both had great wok hei and plenty of flavor without being overwhelmingly spicy. The beef version and chicken version were both good! To start the meal, we ordered the Rice Cake with Brown Sugar, and it was delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside with just the right amount of brown sugar sweetness. Parking is a breeze as the lot is large and the service was super quick! The soup is boiling hot and cooked all the ingredients fast and well. I got the original soup with sliced beef. Would definitely be back!

The rice was good, the salmon was fresh. The scallops were meh. I didn't like that the toppings tasted like they came out of a can. I would not get the pineapple or "crab" (imitation crab) again. Also, the cucumbers were pickled, which caught me by surprise. Their fried onion was more crunchy than other places which I enjoyed. Unfortunately, although this place gives you a bang for your buck, it left me unfulfilled. I think of they marinated their fish and sauces together rather than drizzling it on the bowl, it would be better. I will not be coming back. They have a few cute wooden tables inside so you can eat with a few of your friends or dine in by yourself. Better luck next time!

We arrived before 12am, and I feel there should be more signs to say how to get in the building, there should be a note on yelp that though you serve til 3am it's only to go orders. I saw reviews of people eating here so I thought it was a late night sit down restaurant. Such a bummer. I bet the food is great It was just confusing and misleading We ended up having to just go back to our hotel and ate Doritos for dinner.
