Tried Richi's for the first time last month. Was well into drinking my iced tea then noticed part of an empty Splenda packet was stuck to the inside of my glass. This made my niece check her iced tea and yes, she had the rest of that same Splenda packet inside her tea glass! The waiter brought us fresh glasses, as far as we know. Food was not that great either. With so many restaurants in the area, no need to go here again. read more

Update. Please note that my previous review and accompanying pictures were from the location on Reems next to cycle world when it was known as "nick's diner". The other pics, one of a gyro and another of chicken kabobs is from the Richi's newer location on Bell next to bootys wings and burgers. That location is clean but has very odd hours. That said, the gyro is my favorite thing on their menu. And maybe the best gyro in surprise. However. The chicken kabob was so dry and tough that it was inedible. I brought most of it home to try to save it but I couldn't salvage it. You can't throw frozen chicken directly on the skillet. You can't microwave it either. Lastly, I really don't understand this place. First it was nicks. Then it was Richi's. Then nicks 2 opened. Now there's Richi's 2. All within a couple miles of each other. I get it that they're all related but have some imagination in naming your places. Lol. read more

Food is awesome. A true plate of Yum! It is our to go to restaurant. Mary, our waitress is super friendly, attentive without being annoying. Some waiters / waitresses can be overly intrusive friendly. Mary does a great job! She should get a raise. The atmosphere is great. It's nice out so we wanted to sit on the patio. You can only sit out there if you have a dog. Next Saturday our schnauzer gets to go for a ride. Today would have been a nice day to dine outside. Screaming toddler inside. Not the restaurant fault. Thankfully the family member took the screamer outside. Still, we would have liked to sit outside today. Otherwise, great place with great food. read more

Went here for lunch twice a few months back. Had a hamburger and meat lover skillet(with potato cakes) and both meals were awesome. Been several more times since then. My wife and I go just about every Sunday morning now and get something to go. They are super busy during peak times, but that's expected with the good food. Came in for breakfast more times than you can count. Have a rewards card here if that tells you how much we eat here. Every time we have family in town this is where we take them for breakfast! Coffee is great, food is amazing. The menu has been spruced up and is really cool. I like that they named the combos. Makes it super fun. The waiters always remember you even if it's been a while. Small town dinner feel which is totally cool. Reminds me of a dinner version of cheers lol. Customers are always happy so great ambiance as well. If you go here my favorite dish is the chicken fried steak. Delicious. Gravy is very well done. If you need a correction or something comes out not to your liking...let them know they are very helpful and super nice! I was so disappointed yesterday when my sister and I went into our favorite breakfast / lunch spot in Surprise. We thought we had found a special place with delicious unusual dishes for a diner. Last time we were in they had changed dishes, menus and RECIPES. They used to customize their fare to customers requests and now have a weird attitude about POTATOES. They were thin spiral cut fresh potatoes and now it's shredded potatoes ( fresh? ). I have brought people from north Phoenix and Central Phoenix and my daughter from Gilbert, my cousin from Vegas. The waitress was clueless and the owner's wife told her to tell us no substitutions while she looked my sister in the eye. I doubt we will be back. They have new dishes and menus.....that's not what brings people in. Reliable quality at a fair price. read more

This place is awful. Very outdated. The food was horrible-- very greasy. Who serves a burger with no sauce on it and then charges you 50 cents for 1000 Island dressing. Ketchup is free . The food was good but the service was exceptionally slow on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered the gyro sandwich (a lamb-beef gyro) which came with plenty of tzatziki sauce at the beginning of the gyro, but not enough tzatziki sauce in the middle and end of the gyro. When I asked for more sauce (and waiter could see the remaining half of gyro was without any sauce, I was not told there would be a $1 charge for a tiny plastic 1/4 cup or so of sauce. I also was not told I'd be charged $0.70 to use a credit card for the gyro sandwhich. I wrote on the receipt that I would take from the tip I'd have left The Charges charged to me for sauce and credit card fee. The food was good but the experience and Charges were unacceptable. There are plenty of restaurants in Surprise, AZ that do not charge extra for a normal amount of sauce, nor charge extra to use a credit card. This is the 3rd time I'd gone to Richi's Diner, that has a sign stating they close at 3pm. Two times before today, we went to this restaurant before 3pm and they had already closed before 3pm. It's as though they wish to turn away business. I'll go to Nick's Diner or others in the future, instead of going back to Richi's Diner. read more

We just stumbled across this establishment while driving on Bell Road, seemed very clean, service was great ask for Meranda, she is marvelous. Order came out in a timely manner, food was good. We no sooner started eating and the fire alarm went off, we had to exit the restaurant for 5 minutes, once we got back in didn't feel like finishing the breakfast since everything had cooled down. Meranda asked if we wanted anything reheated, etc. I thought they would have dIscounted the meals but no they didn't. I may go back and try it again. read more

Prices on menu are only if you pay cash but they hide that and spring it on you when you get the bill which shows a higher price for each item as well as the taxes for that item already included with the item's higher price. Then another entry for taxes again. At the bottom are two totals, one for cash & one for payment with credit card but if you try to add the menu prices (which are supposedly for cash only), to the separate tax shown, it does not add up; It is higher. We pointed this out to the manager/owner and she said not her fault, that is their new system and you have to pay what it says you owe. Food was not good either. Not even worth the cash price. We paid the higher price and included our usual generous tip to the waitress as she did a good job and had nothing to do with their pricing. However we will not go back. read more

I ordered the Spanakopita - a Mediterranean dish that is usually tons of spinach in a phyllo pastry with feta cheese and spices. This was more like a cheese hot pocket, with bits of spinach thrown in for color. It was overly liquidy - almost like a Mexican cheese dip - and had almost no vegetables. No joy. Dad's Open-faced Roast Beef sandwich was tough, and the gravy tasted like it was right out of a jar. Mom's Ruben was equally dull. Let's not talk about the vegetables. Again, friendly service. Okay prices. But not a good choice for dinner. Maybe I'll get to try the brunch sometime. read more

My husband & I have always said "you can't mess up breakfast" when talking about restaurants. Richi's Diner has now proved us wrong! Most disappointing experience ever! When ordering oatmeal, asked for it to be brought first (as usual) before our entrees. Waitress then brought it out with my husband's entree. I didn't say anything. Finished my oatmeal and watched my husband try to eat the steak he ordered. It was a sickening gray color and after having to literally spit out a few bites, watched him cut into the rest of the steak which was nothing but gristle. Absolutely inedible!! We then sat there for another 15 minutes waiting for my entree. Eggs were cold, potatoes undercooked and greasy. My toast was actually toasted but my husband's toast was neither toasted nor buttered! The waitress was not attentive nor did she seem to care so we paid our bill and left. A complete waste of $40 for absolutely the WORST breakfast experience in all of our years of travelling around the world! read more

What happened to this place? Been there a few times in the past and had wonderful breakfast. But today was really bad. The waitress was very sweet and very helpful no marks against her at all. But the patty melt had no onions on it and very little cheese and the burger was overdone. My wife asked for well done crispy fries and they were barely cooked. I ordered the eggs Benedict the potatoes were way under cooked and the eggs were hard boiled. The Hollandaise sauce had no flavor at all, very bland. Not a good meal, what a waste of 40 bucks. Richi's diner does not believe in Customer service. The waitress forgot to enter 1 of the 5 meals until she was delivering the other 4. The missed meal was delivered 20 min later and in stages. The waitress was kind enough to take off $1.40 from the bill. Then after speaking to the manager 1/2 of the meal $13.99 was removed. Not the best device but the chicken fried steak was good. Yes, I still left a $10 tip for the waitress. I'm will be I can finding someplace else to spend $100 for breakfast. read more

First visit for breakfast was good. Today for late lunch uhgggg not too good. So I am updating my review! Waitress Mara was so great , only because of her is 3 stars, otherwise no stars... I ordered Richies Greek dinner with soup and salad. Side salad had all lettuce "heads" what left from green leaves, guess from serving burgers. Sorry can't eat only lettuce "heads". Soup was lime rice.....yuckyyyy taste. So no soup and no salad..... for me. Food came, grilled chicken was warm.... no spices at all, how you can get wrong just to add salt & pepper.... steamed broccoli was so cold and watery. Pretty much all chicken was in water.... with no flavor at all. My hubby had salmon, and the same, overcooked salmon with cold broccoli.... salmon in the water.... Bad spent $50.00.,..
