Probably the worst haircut experience I've had in Los Angeles. I paid $50 for a haircut for my 9-year-old child, which is definitely not cheap. The entire haircut took about 18 minutes from start to finish. The stylist just sprayed the hair with water and quickly cut it, and when it was "done," my child's hair was still completely wet. There was no wash, no blow-dry, no styling at all -- they simply said it was finished and sent us out the door. For $50, this felt extremely rushed and careless. The result was also very disappointing. The haircut looks uneven and messy. The next day at school, several of my child's classmates even said the haircut looked bad, which was honestly embarrassing for a kid. I also clearly told the stylist that the length needed to be long enough to tie up, but after the haircut, when we tried to put the hair in a ponytail, a lot of hair kept falling out and couldn't stay tied. Overall, this felt very unprofessional for the price. A $50 kids haircut that takes 18 minutes, no wash, no blow dry, and a poor result is just unacceptable. Definitely would not recommend this place. Parents should think twice before bringing their kids here. read more

I firstly brought my kids to Sophia for kids haircut. Not only she was very gentle to kids, but also quick and skilful. I ended up going back for myself to get magic straight perm. and my husband goes every three weeks to get his hair cut. It is not a fancy hair salon where offers luxurious choices. Great guy... very friendly. Awesome personality, very talkative. His dog was there too and was just cruising around the shop. Quality of the haircut on the other hand was very poor. missed spots all over the front, sides and back. Had to find another place to help fix all the mistakes. Made for a funny yet inconvenient video call the next morning when I realized how badly my hair looked. This is the second time I brought my teen son to this barber and I am really disappointed. The first time I asked how much the haircut was at this place, he charged me $25 but then he asked for more after the service. I gave him a tip alright even though he didn't deserve it because that first time was not a good service, when he washed my son's hair, the shampoo went to my son's eye and that already caused inconvenience and discomfort to my son. I forgave and told him to be careful next time. Tonight my son went back and I asked how much is haircut and he charged me $30. I went to 7-Eleven to withdraw cash because he only takes Venmo or cash. I went back to give the cash to my son and left because I ordered food next door. When my son met up with me after, he said that this guy asked for $10 more because my son has a bit longer hair to cut. The nerve of this guy asking for more money from my teen son who is just a student! $40 haircut that is not even good, no styling, just a regular clean cut. It was not that hard to cut it. If you have the business for more than 15 years you should be accepting credit cards and put a firm menu price on your shop. I'm a business owner as well and I know why this shop only accepts cash or Venmo. The quality of the haircut is not exceptional either. I am just disgusted on how this guy just wanted to milk more money out of its customers. And you should not force your customers to give more money as a tip, it is the customer's discretion if the customer is happy and satisfied with your service! I've been coming to Rich for the past 2 years as my go to guy. For most of it he has been pretty consistent with a faded undercut. This review is mostly for the last two times I went in. I really want to keep recommending him but I feel maybe his clientele has begun to be more tailored to an older demographic because the last two times I went to get my hair cut, he didn't clip my hair up for the undercut and he ended up taking WAY too much off the top. I gave it two chances but he still kept taking too much and it hurts because I like coming to him. I'm still growing my hair out so i can get the style I want but unfortunately I won't be back for the next cut. I'll probably still come back later but if you want you're hair done to very specific standards I don't think i can recommend him for now. read more

This is a late review for rich. I went in to get a haircut in late December of last year (6 months ago). He took me in and did a color as well. What a treat! As far as his technique and his cutting and styling abilities, they are top-notch and bar none. He gave me the perfect light highlight that I wanted and a beautiful base color. The cut was the perfect mix of blunt and choppy with great layers and movement. The reason why this is a long overdue review is because I'm currently sitting in his chair 6 months later and my hair still looks great from December. Granted, the layers have grown out and it's gotten much thicker but the general form is still present. Unlike other places where I feel like a haircut has really "grown out" and I "need to get a cut because I can't even style my hair correctly", I only came today to get a touch up and since I was already in the local area. He listens, really listens, and makes suggestions based on what's right for you. He also adds a personal touch to his services. Last time I was in, as we waited for my color to set, he brought out his keyboard and played some beautiful piano music for me. Another bonus is his cute dog. She loves to hang around the store and greet his customers. This man is a true artist. I found this place by mistake trying to get a haircut last minute before beyond wonderland. I read a review about this place since it was the closest to the hotel I was staying in and the review says that Richard knows what he is doing when he is cutting your hair and really he does knows what he is doing. All I said to him when I came in was I wanted a comb over and he did the rest. I was very amazed of how he cut my hair and know what I wanted with out me telling him how I want it. I went in for the first time due to a hair emergency. I had a mishap at home and dyed my hair orange!! Needless to say I was in full panic Mindy came to my rescue. This guy does not know how to cut hair. He seems like a very nice man but he his not a good barber. Mind you, I have the easiest hair to cut. #4 on the top, #1 on the sides with a blend up. He didn't do a blend properly, the hair around my ears were uneven and the back of my neck was not straight. That's how you can tell you have a BAD barber, is when they can't even get the back of your neck straight. All for $20 haircut. This place is a rip off and I'm 100% sure the reviews on here are mostly fake. I came in at 5:30pm and the place was empty. That should have been a dead give away of his lack of returning customers. My personal barber is closed for this week, they charge half the price and do a straight cut. Either he really didn't want me back as a customer, or he is just that bad. read more

He's gonna be my go-to barber now! My budgets for haircuts used to be $10-12 for the Chinese barbers which is great if you don't really know what you want and a simple trim will suffice. But I have tried the cheap range and I have also tried the expensive range ($45-$50) range as well which is only marginally better in quality... Rich's place is the perfect middle ground for me because 1. for men, the haircut is $25 and it includes a hairwash as well. Great value! He's very professional and knowledgable/ technically savvy when it comes to haircuts, you just let him know what you want in my case i was choosing between a pompadour, undercut, or quiff and I told him I wanted a quiff and he totally knows what I'm talking about. He even explains to me what the differences are which is very helpful as well. I made an appointment with him over the phone and he honored it, which is great! Took my teen brother here for a haircut and he told Rich exactly what he wanted done. It was done within 10 minutes and he got an excellent haircut! Rated 4 stars because unfortunately they don't accept debit/credit cards, only cash.
