Been coming here every weekend since covid restrictions got lifted so I know the price of the drinks and covers pretty well (btw the cover to get in is pretty expensive). Nonetheless I ordered 1 shot of patron for my friend at the outdoor patio bar and this drunk bartender tried to charge me $58 dollars!!!??? For ONE patron shot he was gonna charge me $58. I tried to pull my card out cus I refused to pay that much for 1 shot and he said there's nothing he can do about it, if I insert my card I have to pay. I know that's BS so I pulled my card out forcefully. Then he called the manager who actually has brain cells and realized her worker tried to scam me so he can take extra cash home. REVIEWER # 233 Rich's is known to some in the area as the 'Best Gay Bar in Town' and I must say, that this was a live ass bar! Although, I had to pay a cover charge. I put all that to the side after I walked in and had a good time! Rich's offers a fantastic inside with a couple large dance floors, a patio area and not one...not 2 but 3 bars! Yayy, baybee! The music they play here is live! I danced all night with a yummy drink in my hand. Although this is known as a gay bar, there were many straight people inside, having a wonderful time as well. Gentleman, you don't have to worry about the gay men 'hitting up on you', none of that happens here. This place is chill and everyone is having a good time. There was a good mix of different age groups. The DJ was playing a little bit of everything. And, to answer Yelp's question, they do have gender-neutral bathrooms. The bartenders are solid and know how to make a good drink. They do offer a 'no cover' on some nights; I would suggest you sign up to receive email notices so you can receive some decent discounts during some special night offers. This is the first real club I've ever been to. Walking in I was shy as could be. Too sober to dance. However, one extremely potent vodka cranberry later I was daaaaancing and having the best time. I'm talking, walking up to strangers and doing my little booty dances on them. It was a BLAST! I visited Rich's a couple of weeks ago with some friends who were visiting from out of town. Cover is $12 for Friday nights. There's a number you can text for free cover and I did that but I forgot to show the text up front -__- I ended up paying the cover charge but oh well. The inside is actually a bit smaller than I imagined. They have a few go-go dancers up on the stage. The music they played was electric pop I think? It reminded me of the nightclubs around Europe when I went. This place is a terrible. The staff is incredibly rude and unfriendly. The drinks are watered down and are incredibly overpriced. The bartenders are also very rude and inattentive. The place also looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. I haven't ordered any food from them judged purely on the fact that if their place is that dirty, I can only imagine how gross the kitchen is. Plus, pickpocketing is super common here and the management doesn't seem to care or offer any solutions. If you're trying to shake some ass, the music doesn't get good until around 11. Drinks are expensive. But the jello shots, which also comes out around 11, are pretty clutch and only about $3. I will say watch your pockets because if you lose your phone, or don't have it somewhere secure, it will be stolen. It's been happening for years. Not sure if it's attendees or staff but they kind of give you the run around when you're trying to call around or check and no one I know has ever gotten their personal items back unless you literally catch a security guard picking it up. read more

Normally I hate clubs. But when I moved to San Diego my girlfriend and I went to this club and it was great. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff were very nice and there was no pressure here. Most clubs are all about competition but here everyone just wants to have fun. If something happens it happens. Straight clubs you have to worry about protecting your female friends from weird guys trying to pick them up or stalking them but at Rich's is so relaxed. Guys don't even have to worry about any of that because they just like to be relaxed, dance, drink and have fun doing it all. They also have gender neutral bathrooms which is great. They have two club sides. Urban music in the front and techno/ trance like music at the back with killer party lights. We signed up for their text messaging service and always receive messages when something is going on at Rich's. They even have No Cover on some nights and half off before a certain time with the text message. I recommend going if you're looking for a great night. Especially if you're new in town or just visiting. The is the first club I've actually enjoyed myself and not regret going and wanted to leave. read more

I came here for the first time for my first drag show. I went with my fiancé and friend to this drag show. Cover was $10 and it gave me access to go in and out as I please. The show was very well put together and I had a blast. The bartenders were sweet and were very helpful considering I was clueless on what to get and still so patient with me. RICH'S is a LIT spot in Hillcrest. I love Rich's it never disappoints on a good time. Every time I have guests visiting from out of town I take them here. First of all the venue is set up really good; they have a back room for EDM with a huge stage, and it's own bar so you don't have to leave the area, then they have the front room with all the hip hop music equipped with their own bar as well. They have two smoking sections, one in the direct front and the second on located on the back patio. The drinks are really good priced. I never have issues with security. I feel safe at rich's. Gone are the days of having an upscale club offering ala Universal/Eden/etc. Yes we have a couple classy bars in the Gayborhood (Uptown Tavern and Martinis), but if you want to dance, you have to get down and dirty. And sometimes that's all you need. Throwing on a tank top, some sort of pants/shorts and shoes (or just hit up foam night in your underwear) can be liberating after going to straight clubs with strict dress codes. The music is usually much better as well, with a hip hop room in the front and an EDM room in the back. Large tripped out LEDs line some of the walls while a machine blasts out a thick layer of smoke blanketing the entire room. Speaking of the smoke, they must have the strongest smoke machine on the planet. I'm talking full-on horror movie smoke. Occasionally when I'm on the dance floor and have unknowingly gotten too close to it, I find myself choking and gasping for dear life. Can you guys turn it down a little? Just a smidgen? And then there's the sidewalk sale at the end of the night, when the lights come on and you see what you've been dealing with for the past few hours. It's never pretty. Besides staring at the tragedies of tweaked out messes you also discover how old and grimy this place truly is. Rich's should really get gutted and completely renovated. For a fancy night out, you'll need to hit up one of the local bars or make a trip to WEHO. But just like that one ex you can't seem to shake off, Rich's will always be here for you when you need it, ready and waiting. Grimy and disgusting and perfect just the way it is. read more

If I could give Rich's a ZERO, I would. I wasn't going to write a review on Yelp but felt the need to do so since I took the time to call them, went to their FB page, and left a voicemail with the manager and he chose not to return my message. In fact, I just spoke to a friend who told me he had called as well and was blown off too. So this is where I turn to Yelp. Rich's owners should get involved by holding their manager accountable and requiring him to return phone calls even when he doesn't care about customer concerns. Here's what happened: A few weeks ago, Rich's hired a couple of live animals to hang out at the bar, in the city, next to smokers, drunks, and loud music so they could dress them up as unicorns. Security even threatened to call police when people passing by decided to speak up about it. The security guard told a woman she would start a fight if she spoke up for what was going on that night and told her to leave. Of ALL ESTABLISHMENTS in San Diego... a LGBTQ ‍ bar finds it morally acceptable in 2018 to exploit animals for human entertainment and personal profit?! This is absolutely not acceptable. You guys need to make a public apology for doing this with animals, have the manager return every call he had received, and agree to never bring live animals into your bar again. Shame. Shame. When i was younger...i would come here...midlife crisis has kicked in and i need to go dancing with my friends again... i made my debut to riches with the YGM organized by Melanio...thanks dude! i had an incredible time dancing with my fellow Yelpers...there were sexy gogo dancers and a great show... i am hooked...Cinna B & Jessie B. joined me the past friday night for a night on the town...(we make a mean team while our kids are spending quality time at home with their daddy's) we ended our big night at Rich's. we danced and danced till the club shut down (at 2 am i ALMOST wished i was in TJ so i could dance till the sun came up). This is the ideal place to go dancing...no cover before 11 (with gym id or student id)...2 different dance rooms with different music, 2 bars, 2 bathrooms...some places to sit (not that i would sit here)...an outside patio...you can leave and come back, with a your hand stamped.... didn't drink here...so can't comment on the drinks...but from the looks of it...my friends enjoyed their drinks!!! woo hoo... let's do again soon girls!!! read more
