I now have 5 friends and co workers who have all shared similar stories about getting something put in their drink and not being able to remember their evening. This place has bad people that want to take advantage of you. One friend went there this past weekend and woke up in the bathroom of the place completely beaten up and missing her two front teeth. After attending a birthday at Rich's a week ago I would never return. Bouncers, bottle staff, and dancers were awesome and I can understand why everyone thinks this is such a fun venue. I went to SD on my 5 day vacation, and we ended up at Rich's for the night after hopping a few places. This place was so much fun, I danced my little tail off, HOT guys ( eye candy), friendly stafff, yummy drinks . amazing lighting DJ was phenomenal. The quarantine day lounge is a great idea. However it looks much more grandiose than the actual experience is. My friend wanted to come here for her birthday so we made a reservation for a Friday evening. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was that we were seated at a small raggedy looking table near the stairs instead of the patio lounge table area that was advertised on the reservation page. My friend asked to be moved to a nicer seat but they told us all the lounge seating was reserved for groups. She was very upset about the false advertising. It was also pretty loud and being only one of the few parties of 2, we felt pretty neglected. The food took a very long time, unlike the large groups, and there were also menu items we couldn't order since we were only 2 people. I do not recommend unless you plan to come as a large party. I understand that large groups are more profitable, but I don't like feeling like my business isn't appreciated and it should never be obvious to the customer that you are not a priority. You'll only be treated as a VIP here if you come as a group. read more

I came here on a Saturday night. I am not sure how often they do this but it was a glitter themed party that night. That would be really cool if they actually had a different theme every week or something. The nice thing about this club was that about 90% of the people was actually dancing! There were also a lot of hot gay guys making out, so I guess it would be a good place to check out if you are into gay crowd on a dance floor. My observations for the crowd: -Male to female ratio was like 9 to 1 -Age Group around 25 - 35 -Covered with shirts vs shirtless dudes ratio was like 9 to 1 The bottom line: -$12 cover -good DJs, good music -good gay crowd -strong drinks P.S. Had a great time with my friend until he got sick off of one drink - found out later after talking to 2 Lyft drivers and a personal friend that getting drugged at this place is more common than I thought. Not sure why it's a current issue, but I've now been warned by multiple people now NOT to buy drinks here. Shame because otherwise it's a cool place. read more

One of the go to gay spots in San Diego. Came here before we moved and go back ever so often. It's in the heart of hillcrest and will be extremely packed on the weekends. My first gay club and I had so much fun! My friends said that thanksgiving eve is big in Hillcrest so we decided to go out. I wasn't sure how much cover originally was but we had a discount so it was only $4. There's two dance floor and two bars. The larger dance floor was in the back and played EDM music while the dance floor in the front played hip hop & rap. Their outdoor patio/lounge is beautiful. The staff at the door are really nice and so are the bar staff and the servers. I also like that the music is played at a level where I can hear what my server or party is saying. You can make reservations online for the lounge area which we didn't do for our first visit back since the remodel but even without a reservation we were seated in the bar lounge with no hesitation and had a super nice server checking in periodically. read more

I've been there twice this year and had a great time both visits. First visit was Sunday 11/2 for Stripper Circus. Smaller crowd than Fri or Sat but the folks there were ready to dance and party. Special performance by Manila Luzon (RuPaul Drag Race) Second visit was Saturday 12/6. Larger crowd especially in the front hip hop room. Both visits had quick service at the bars and great dance music in the main room. Let me explain how to build up energy, start mellow , get the beat going KEEP the beat going , some pauses at the height of the beat is okay, but every single song had a slow start, beat build for a second then lost it, the poor go go dancers looked like they were trying really hard to be sexy with this irregular style, this isn't Wisconsin or where ever hole you're from, act like you're in a real city and play music like you know how to dance. Rich's is just not it for me, personally. The cover is usually VERY high, and you get no added benefits for that steep pricing. The drinks are also outrageously priced, and weak weak! When l got my change back , he literally dunked the bills he returned to me inside my drink . Not sure what crawled up him that night , nothing pleasant I'm sure. We came here for brunch where I got the chicken caprese sandwich. At that moment it was everything I needed. The drinks and service was also great. The crowd had quite a cuties around too! This was during COVID and it seemed like the bar was enforcing social distancing and mask wearing as well. No one was indoors unless using the restrooms. My one piece of feedback would be that with the heatwave it was extremely uncomfortable being outside.
