Came here after I found a nail in my leaky tire. Yelp really saved the day with this one - I pass by Rich's all the time when getting onto the 101, yet because I can't read Spanish I never knew the shop specialized in tires. With it having 4.5 stars and being so close to home, there was no better place to go. I had the nail removed and the tire plugged within 10 minutes. Service was very fast and friendly. My only complaint is the guy was smoking right next to me while he worked. read more

I echo what everyone says - it could not get better than Rich's. I had a SEVERELY flat and messed up tire that I needed to get fixed on a Sunday. Rich's, unlike most places, is open from 7am-7pm! I really didn't want my flat tire to ruin the nice day my friend and I had planned, and, because of their speed and excellent service, I was out of there so quickly I didn't even have time to watch the nice tv they have for customers. They were professional and friendly and certainly more than fair about the price. I don't even know if they charged me for labor, and the cost of the new tire I had to get was great. I am still shocked by how little it cost! I highly recommend Rich's to anyone in the South Bay, even Palo Alto area. I'll return there, even from Oakland, if possible! Nice store; amazing convenience, service, and price! I am a very busy family person in Palo Alto with mutiple children and almost uncountable events. Last tune-up, I was told to 'keep an eye on that tire' because it was low. About one month later, it was almost completely flat (discovered within an hour of a sports practice!). So, I made due, lying on my side with the pay for air service at Shell on Embarcadero. (yes, it works if you have been interested). Well, this a.m., I drove to Rich's tire service based on the good Yelp reviews and they were open on Sunday morning, left at 7:15, got there at 7:30 am, and by 7:45 I was home. It cost 15$ for my tire repair by a nice, honest man. When you find such a place you want to tell others. I've got two recommendations for people in this neighborhood, and they are easy to remember this way. THIS place, 1950 Old Middlefield, and MV Radiator--for general car repairs, 1905 Old Middlefield (who once, I kid you not, replaced the side mirror on my van for free, while talking to another customer at the same time). Rich's Tire Service is a quick and cheap place to get your tires repaired and replaced. I have did not buy new tires here, so I cannot give a recommendation to that end. I droppped by at about 5:30 pm, and within 2 minute there were three people working on my car! It took no longer than 20 minutes to have my flat tire repaired and put back on my car. What's more exciting is the entire service only cost $10.00! If you need a quick repair I definitely recommend going to Rich's Tire Service.This place is nothing fancy, but they get the job done quickly and painlessly! read more

"Can you say cheap!" If you don't want to spend a whole lot on tires, go for used. I usually come here to get used tires because the prices are so good. If they ask them to look around in the back for your tires, you can find some good quality tires for a good price. Tires that would normally cost 150 or 200 a pop, you can find them used with about 75% tread left. If you get more than one tire, it will be 30 bucks a tire, if you get a single it's 37 a tire. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! I recently got a flat tire due to a nail in the road and needed a place to fix it. After reading these reviews, I was shocked to notice that it was so close to my Church! I've been driving by this shop for years on a weekly basis, but I've never noticed it?! WOOOOW. Anyways, I went here at around 2pm. I assumed that it would take at least an hour to get my tire fixed because it was in the afternoon, but I was pleasantly wrong. Once I get there, I ask a friendly lady in the office how long it would take for my tire to get fixed. To my surprise, she said 5 minutes. I brought my flat tire to the mechanic and he instantly fixed it for me in front of me! He even found another smaller hole in my tire. On top of that, he replaced the spare tire with the newly fixed tire! AND, it only cost me $10 (other places charge at least $15). I really appreciate these smaller shops that provide great service, that don't try to get more money out of you by up-selling items, and of course, easy on the wallet. Went there with a bouquet of tire-related problems: - my left tires were too worn (both) because of bad alignment - one of the rear tires had a slow leak - I had a full spare that I wanted to mount instead of a leaking tire, but that spare was on a bent wheel. So I wanted them to take the spare tire off the wheel, put it on a good wheel, throw away bad tire and bad wheel and rearrange the tires on my car so the worn couple of tires are in the back while the ones that still have some thread life in them would go in front. The place looks like someone's backyard. No hydraulic lifts, no mechanics in sterile uniforms wearing smiles that dazzle you with impeccable dental work. There's a little tent with some chairs, bottled water and a huge plasma TV, a small office and four-five cars in front of what used to be an auto garage and now is a tire warehouse. That's right, everything they did to my car they did outside, popping it up on three hydraulic jacks. Given the number of things I wanted to be done I thought I had some painful explanation to perform, and was getting ready to monitor my car as they worked on it. Given my previous history of dealing with auto mechanics, I was prepared for everything. Except for what actually happened. Not only they did everything I asked for, but they did it in about 5 minutes and on top of that they did not need me to repeat any instructions! Moreover, they balanced some of the wheels that they thought needed to be balanced without me even asking, and that didn't raise my bill. These people are very professional and DO care about the state of the car that leaves their lot. Their quality/price ratio is unbeatable. They do tires, and that's what they do. Overall, another 5 star review. Fast, efficient, honest, and very reasonably priced. They do what's needed to be done, not what's needed to be sold. I've had three nails stuck in my tire this year, and I went to pep boys to get it repaired for the first two times. For the third time, I decided to yelp it. I was pleasantly surprused by Rich's Tires!! I called ahead and they said a tire repair would take 10-20 minutes. I got there, he took care of my right away and I was out of there in 5 minutes! Realized I had a slow leak in one of my tires (losing about 1-2 psi every few days)... based on all the excellent reviews and the fact that this place was near work, I stopped by here in the afternoon... pulled up right to the bay and someone came out to greet me immediately. I explained the problem, and he pulled out a jack, popped the tire, inspected it, and discovered a nail in the tread. Said it was no problem, popped the nail, patched it up, checked the rest of the tire in the soapy bucket, and I was on my way within a few minutes... $15 ... totally worth it for the quick and friendly experience. read more

Rich's Tire Shop was a real life saver. Discovered a tire was leaking badly late Sunday afternoon. We needed to leave the area early Tuesday morning and had a full list of tasks scheduled for Monday. Got to Rich's first thing. The culpert - a roofing nail - was identified while I slowly rolled the car forward. The nail was removed, a plug inserted and the tire inflated. Wow! I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp. Examined and repaired my tire in 15 min! He pulled out this razor blade that was lodged in my tire and he also showed me a nail that's in my tire but said it was OK since it didn't go through all the way yet. I'm very happy with the quick and honest service. He charged me $20 and I assume it cost more than a hole from a nail since it was a huge gash from the razor blade. read more

Went in to get wheels balanced due to some highway vibration. The tires I had were worn and deformed enough that they just won't balance out. He scrounges up a couple of used ones, turns out one of those won't balance either - long story short he had to balance and change my tires about 3 times each and in the end I'm out of there for just the price of the used tires and disposal fees. Sweet. Went back recently with a different car with a slow flat due to a staple through the tire tread. In and out with a patch in probably 20 minutes. Yay. read more

Got new high performance tires (245 45R18-96W) for a fine price. Much cheaper than my last set, and all reviews for the tires (Federal SS-595) are great. There are places to buy them cheaper online, but $135 per tire with labor ain't bad. Like others have said, they started working on my car almost before I finished telling them what I needed done (which was good and bad). They were prompt, courteous, and no-nonsense. Low prices. update 06122015 0830 go on the weekends sometimes they do not have a mechanic on duty to do oil changes. if you go on the weekdays, prices can be higher since the workers are different. every time i go the price is different. they ask for a higher price n pocket the rest. i go there pretty often. no customer loyalty. haggle n pay cash couple times my wheels were not balanced. i just went to ace tire. 17 inch used tires and below should be 50 flat 19 n up should be around 50-70 depending on who is working this includes mounted, balanced, put back on your car. general rule of thumb. always check the tightness of your lug nuts and check the air pressure as well. oil change less than 5 quarts should be 30 flat. you pay for what you get read more

Went here about 9 months ago, after getting a flat tire on 101. After talking with Rich, I decided to replace all 4 tires. Got a GREAT DEAL, with each tire costing about $70 (which wasn't the cheapest option)! I didn't have an appointment, but was in and out in about 1 hour. They had a nice shaded patio to sit in while I waited. I selected this place to replace a flat tire (that couldn't be repaired) based on Yelp reviews. However, as I re-read the reviews now, I see that most of them were for quick and excellent service in fixing flat/leaking tires, not in replacing tires. To make a very long story short, they stripped my wheel lock key after replacing 1 of 2 tires. In my effort to replace the wheel lock key so the second tire could be replaced, I discovered their prices for new tires were about $110 per tire higher than the dealer. While they did refund me the cost of 1 tire and the cost of the wheel lock replacement key, the time and effort it has cost me is way more than should be needed for a simple tire replacement. In the end, I had to replace the entire wheel lock set because they left the locking bolt off when they replaced the first tire (and didn't ensure I got it back). While they tried to make it right, I would not recommend this place for new tires. read more

Went there today to replace our front tires. We had visited them the day before so that they could do checking and maybe gave few recommendations like: do i really need to change it now, what brand is good for this typical car, how about used tires, etc... Perhaps my expectation was too high, that day didn't end up as I wished. No recommendation, they just showed one brand of tire in stock. Fortunately we had searched particular brand that we might like, and they said could order that for us. They quoted the total price and we paid 50% down payment. They gave a notification call the next day, our order had arrived, we came there late afternoon. The crew were fast, even too fast they unscrewed not just my front tires, but also my rear tires though we had shown them the receipt that we only wanted to replace the front tires. Once they were done we told them that the tires' pressure should be 32 (based on the manual), they said its too low, we didn't understand why because we genuinely didn't know. They said 32 is for manufacturer's tires that came with the car. Now we bought a new one, it's different. We wasn't satisfied with the explanation. Later we searched the net for related info, and thank God is no more an issue for us. But what I mean is as experts, they should be able to educate customers on stuff like this. The last thing that confused us was when we're about to pay. The bill exceeded what they had quoted yesterday! (We didn't write their quotation but we remember exactly the amount) After exchanging few words and recalculation, we paid what we supposed to pay. So my advise, take note everything carefully or else you might feel cheated ( I believe they didn't want to cheat, they're nice hardworking people) Maybe this place is good for fixing flat tires that's why when you read previous posts all gave 5 stars (including me), but after what I experienced today, I may need to explore other places for tire replacement. . read more

This is the place you should go if you have tire problems at your cars. These guys are very efficient and dedicate to what they work. I read other good reviews first before I went to this shop for mounting and balancing the tires I purchased on line for my pair of winter tires. It ended up with very good experience dealing with them, so far no problems show on my tires. They also keeps good collections of used tires with good price and they fix those used tiress with good quality fix. I will definitely go there again for my next set of tires mounting. read more

I'm disappointed with the quality of their work. They were nice enough to mount some tires for me in a rush, which was great, but their tire mounting machine damaged the edges of my wheels pretty much all the way around. It's now costing me almost $400 to repair the two wheels they damaged. I won't be back again. read more
