My husband was raving about the sandwich he got here recently so we had a lunch date here today. The service was friendly and quick. I got the egg salad sandwich and it was ok. I forgot to ask for no mayo on the bread so there was quite a bit of mayo slathered on both sides of the bread. I got provolone added on to the sandwich but really I don't think it was a great addition. The egg salad itself was alright, just not incredibly flavorful. The Dutch crunch bread had good flavor but wasn't crunchy like I'm used to the outside of Dutch crunch bread being. The one outstanding part of the meal was the oatmeal cookie which was really just delicious - crunchy on the edges but soft inside. If I ever join my husband here for lunch again I'll just get myself a cookie (or two). read more

How did I not know about this little hidden gem?!?! I drove by while at work and saw this little place tucked into the industrial area on Double R and thought, "hmmm wonder if it's any good?". Well, it is delicious! The inside is spacious, clean, and has some New York deli flare. Staff person at the counter was incredibly helpful and super friendly. I got the tri-tip sandwich, chips and a drink. One of the best sandwiches I've had in Reno and I like to think that I've tried most. The tri-tip was perfectly cooked and sliced, juicy, and perfectly thick. It comes with a spicy jalapeno aioli and melted cheddar on a dutch crunch roll. I added lettuce, tomato and grilled onions but in hindsight would've only added the onions or had it just how they make it. I ended up picking the lettuce off. Mouth wateringly good. The food was so fresh and good I felt it justified the fairly high (+/-$18) total price. Inflation and food costs are ridiculous so the prices I'm used to are ling gone and I figure this is the new norm. Will definitely be back! read more

We were recommended to Rick's Deli by Chris at Spot Dry Cleaners. She raved about the different sandwiches and their unique names. They were out of their tri-tip sandwich (it is so popular it sells out by lunchtime - so will definitely return soon). The owner was so friendly and patient as we pursued their fabulous menu board. Quite possibly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Ordered lunch for myself and several coworkers. I got the Lucky Luciano and was blown away. I'm not typically a fan of eggplant but it was Ash Wednesday and being a good Catholic I follow the rules of Lent. This was so indulgent I should add it to my list of guilty pleasures. I wish I could give this place 10 stars. I'm OBSESSED with Rick's. Unfortunately for me, it's super close to my work AND has online ordering. Along With the convenience of online ordering, you don't have to wait in line when you pick up. My favorite sandwich is the John Gotti. I also like the Wall Street & Bumpy Johnson. I'm not kidding when I say that I crave their sandwiches! I think they are super affordable & the shop is really cute. I'm ashamed to admit I have them at least once a week! Friends and I tried this place out today... got the John Gotti sandwich, the host took my order after asking in detail what I liked recommended this sandwich and another. I was already thinking this one so got this one, very attentive to my order on what I liked on my sandwich and added grilled jalepeno as i love a tasty sandwich. Friends ordered Godfather (added grilled jalapeno) and SOHO (added turkey) We all loved our sandwiches came out perfect and hot, very tasty with fresh ingredients. Stopped in here after the chiropractor to grab a quick lunch on my way to the office. I wanted a salad, of which they only had three options: fajita, Cobb or Caesar. I opted Cobb. The salad was full of fresh ingredients, real diced chicken breasts, real bacon (not artificially flavored crumbles), and the blue cheese dressing was mild in flavor and quite good. The best part was that my salad was made and in my hands in less than 3 minutes - I couldn't believe how fast they were! Thus I treated myself out today. The place is about two minutes from my office so very convenient for those days I need them. Atmosphere - Part of office complex and at the end, which makes getting to it very easy. This place has that typical classic deli feel inside. Nothing fancy but it is clean and gets the job done. Food Drinks - None as I am bringing it back to my desk. My Meal Sandwich - The Scarface, mean name but I handled the sandwich like a pro. Hot pastrami that is all I needed to know. Their sandwiches have clever gangster names; best part is that they have four types of bread. If they have Dutch crunch that is all I need to know. That will be my sandwich so when she asked what kind of bread I wanted and she started with Dutch, I interrupted her and told her that was what I wanted. The sandwich was hot the goods where thick and the sauce thick, lots of napkins. After that first bite I could not get to my second bite fast enough. This Deli is very average. It appears their popularity is due to the lack of sandwich shops in the area where there are working folks. They had soup, salad, and sandwiches and I didn't see any freshly made sides, or desserts. I ordered a turkey, bacon, and tomato sandwhich for $7.15 and added avocado for $.95 on multi-grain bread...I didn't even finish it because it was so very bland and I ended up walking out unsatified. On the other hand there were plenty of other folks who ordered specialty sandwiches that looked a bit more enticing, but I'm afraid I will not be back. read more

Several years ago, I worked nearby this deli and grabbed lunch there fairly frequently. It's been about 4 years since I was last there, and it's definitely one of those little things I miss about working in the area. So, when I found myself over that way yesterday with some time to kill and a hungry belly, I just had to check it out for lunch. I've always found the customer service to be pretty good. But I also was definitely a "regular" back in the day, and I believe that some times can change the level of customer service given. This time around, there wasn't anyone from the old days, but I still received great customer service. The gal who took my order was very friendly, and the food came out quickly. It took me a bit of contemplating to decide which of my old favorites to order. I ended up deciding on the Wall Street on sourdough, and it was every bit as tasty as I remembered. The tri-tip was piping hot, melting the smoky cheddar nicely. I was certainly feeling a little nostalgic as I finished up my lunch. I hope to find an excuse to be back in the area for lunch again sometime soon so that I can reunite with some of my other favorites - like the Machine Gun Kelly on Dutch Crunch (YUM!). read more

Been here a few times now and my sandwiches were great the first couple times. This time I ordered a Caesar salad and although it wasn't bad if you're trying to be healthy, it seems there was more Parmesan cheese and croutons than lettuce. This obviously tastes good but depends if you're going for taste or diet. I would recommend getting sandwiches over salads. The wrap may also be a good option. Rick's Deli has a New York Gangster theme. It is so cool. With Pictures of New York scattering the walls and Mobster named sandwiches, its great. Today was my first time in. I got the Baby Nelson. It was Turkey and Swiss with Lettuce Tomato and Pesto Mayo on Dutch Crunch. The dutch crunch was perfect. You know how most places serve it on a roll and its over kill on bread? Well this is NOT what you will find at Rick's Deli. Their bread is about as thick and square as sandwich bread, but it is covered with the unmistakable dutch crunch topping. It is great. The flavors were very bold. My only complain is that their was a lot of pesto mayo on my sandwich and it was so much to overpower it. If I was Rick's I would maybe only put the pesto mayo on one side, and change to a more mile cheese like provolone or mozzarella. Will be back here. It was $10 for a sandwich, drink, and chips. Pretty average to me. Oh, and if you are busy, go online or call in your order in advance, you can even pay for it before hand and they will have it waiting out for you when you arrive. The bread: dutch crunch. Delish! A must have for your sandwich. I could tell that it was baked fresh. The vedge: fresh and crisp, just the way I like it. The pesto sauce is on point. The meat and cheese: turkey and swiss, tasted like it had been sliced fresh. The service: I thought they were very friendly; yesterday had been my first time in. The guy at the register was helpful with my selection of the baby face Nelson. My meal came out surprisingly fast. I am a people watcher. I specifically watched or rather listened how they interacted with their customers. With many, they were on a first name basis and knew what they wanted to order when the walked in. The price: I thought was very decent. I got a large drink a cookie, my sandwich, and a pasta salad for my son all for about 13 bucks. The verdict: I would definitely come again if I'm in the area. So glad I found this place! I was at Renown and googled nearby lunch spots and Rick's popped up. I had the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup combo. First of all the portions are huge so 1/2 sandwich was plenty for me. I had the Baby Face Nelson and added avocado. DELICIOUS! The pesto sauce it comes with is to die for. You can really taste the freshness of the basil. The soup of the day was Toscano. It was heavenly! I went pretty close to 2:00, ordered to go, and it was ready literally in about 3 minutes. Of course I would expect it a little slower at peak times, but I can tell they're pretty efficient. I will definitely be back to try more sandwiches. read more

Rick's Deli is one of my homes away from home. I go to Ricks pretty regularly and always get the same thing. Every time I walk in I am greeted with "Hello Jennifer! Dutch on Dutch?" To which I reply "yes" every single time! LOL. The sandwich is always 100% wonderful and made SUPER fast. #1 In a strip mall on the corner off of Double R. Can get quite busy at lunchtime. You can order online & pick it up - but with only one person working the cash register not sure how much time that will save you. The décor is clean but sparse, and there are about 12 tables I think. It's a New York Themed décor. The menu is fantastic and the sandwiches use really fresh ingredients including the bread. Everything is made to order so it takes alittle more time, but it's worth it. It's moderately priced (I think) and really worth going in. They even have vegetarian choices! I had the SOHO on Dutch crunch and it was great. #2 Delivery experience - I order food for my company and I give Ricks a fair amount of business, but recently I ordered online and got a confirmation for a noon delivery - I ordered at 11:00. At 12:15 I called, and she said I had 5 deliveries ahead of me, and that the driver wasn't there, but he'd get here as soon as possible. Now I get that you get busy, but to confirm a delivery time and then not call to say you'll be late is bad business. I ordered for a noon meeting and it's not 12:41 and no show. My egg salad sandwich was fantastic; super soft fresh bread (whole wheat), good balance of tomato and lettuce to add some texture to the egg salad, and great flavor! So glad I stopped by on a whim! WOW... my bf brought me half a sandwich from here he bought at lunch because it was so good, 4 hours later it was still one of the best sandwiches I ever had so I went and got my own... the wall street. Omfg. Literally the best sandwich I've ever had and I work in a sandwich shop. The tri til was so tender, not chewy at all so you know this guy buys top notch meats and cooks them right. His flavor pairing skills are a gift from God. The jalepeno mayo was really creamy with just the right amount of heat, not too spicy at all. The dutch crunch was soft and fresh. The time I went here, I think it was a one-off so I'm clarifying this review. I ordered the Dutch Schultz (turkey sandwich with bacon) and ordered it without bacon, xtra mayo. What I received was some version of a Baby Face Nelson (turkey with Pesto Mayo). It probably wouldn't have been a big deal if I didn't HATE pesto. I know, I know, I'm crazy. But I just don't like it. And I couldn't finish my sandwich. Having said that, I realize that it was a mistake and I'll be giving this place another chance. The meat was very good and juicy and it was reasonably priced. I would recommend ordering ahead as the line can get long if you go at certain main "lunch times". But it wasn't anything abnormal. Looks like a fun little place and everyone was extremely friendly. I went to Rick's because of the convenient location and sandwiches. I love sandwiches. I ordered the SOHO - veggie sandwich (shocking, I know). It came on sliced wheat bread with the standard lettuce, tomato, sprouts, etc. Over all it was a very underwhelming $8.00 sandwich and did not come with chips or a side. I was actually still hungry and I'm a pretty small person. The counter service was pleasant and the ambiance was ok. Overall it's not a bad place but there are a ton of great sandwiches places in Reno so I can't settle for just ok. read more

I have to give Rick's an additional star because their hot sandwiches are definitely better if consumed in-house, and though the rest of the menu hasn't wowed me it's not the worst option in the neighborhood. Being I used to work nearby, I've now had enough lunches from Rick's to form a representative sample. Some of the cold sandwiches are a good deal for the money, though not as flavorful as the better sandwich shops in town. The brownies are really good and are cut big enough to fill a plate. Consistency has been lacking from visit to visit; I've ordered four Reubens and every one was different. One of them was quite good, so apparently there's at least one person in the kitchen who knows what's what. Too bad that person (apparently) wasn't working the other times I ordered the same sandwich. The soups are definitely housemade, but out of four I tried only one really made me happy. There was a funky gaminess to the chicken soup that made me wonder if they'd left a bag of offal in the chicken while it stewed. The beef and vegetable soup was clearly made from beef that had been leftover from another dish, chopped into tough little pieces that were actually hard to chew despite having been stewed. The one soup I liked--tortilla chicken--was so much better than the others it makes me wonder if they ordered out that day. Whatever you do, don't order what they're calling a "cheesesteak" if you actually want a roll filled with grilled steak and cheese. It should instead be labeled a hot roast beef: it is literally thin-sliced deli meat on a roll with some sliced cheese. Not sure if the meat ever saw a grill or came straight from the microwave. Either way, this sandwich does not deserve to be called a cheesesteak. Lame. read more

I LOVE Rick's Deli. Not only are they close to my work but they have a great selection of sandwiches made fresh. I normally get the SOHO which is veggies and I add Dijon mustard. Yummy! I have also been told their soups and warm sandwiches are good too! I have tried their salads which weren't my favorite but still nothing to complain about! It's a small little shop but they have such a nice staff and they make your food very quickly so you can get in and out ok your lunch break! The staff here is super friendly and wonderful and our sandwiches were fresh and amazing... kinda wish I had another one, that's how good they are. I think we each got the Baby Face Nelson and added sprouts and avocado. It was super delicious. The pesto is amazing. Reno doesn't have too many knock-your-socks-off delis but Rick's is really delicious, reasonably priced and super fresh. There are not a lot of sandwich shops that you can get an egg salad sandwich, let alone really good egg salad sandwich - Rick's happens to be one of them though. The people working there are friendly and efficient as well. I like that you get a really good sized sandwich, they don't skimp on the filling, and comparatively speaking, they are reasonably priced. I've not tried other options, but today noticed that they are offering some new items. They get my recommendation as the go to sandwich shop in South Reno. read more

How did I not know about this place before now? The company bought us lunch for reaching our weekly quota last week and they chose Rick's Deli to cater lunch. As is the usual, we all pick an item off of the menu. I picked the House Roasted Turkey sandwich minus the toms and avo, adding Swiss cheese to the moist, roasted turkey, green leaf lettuce and garlic-cranberry aioli-like sauce on warm Dutch crunch bread. This sandwich was incredible! I think the garlic-cranberry aioli and the Swiss cheese knocked it out of the bark. Perfect mix of zip, zing and swoosh.
