I work right across from this place, and their food is pretty decent for their prices. I ordered various salads from here, and it was meh. A caesar chicken salad with cold chicken and watery lettuce. The cobb salad is pretty ordinary and wish the portion was a little bigger when it came to salads. While the sandwiches, going hot and dutch crunch bread is the way to go. Its filling, and their pesto is delicious with turkey and avocado. Their delivery service was really helpful when there was snow/ice on the road plus prompt and friendly. They even label all the orders for you and package everything nicely with all the utensil, napkins you would need, plus the sandwiches were still hot when delivered. I used to always go there when I worked down the street.. I would always order the Wall Street (tri-tip, cheese and jalapeno mayo). That sandwich is amazing. Worth 5 stars. Went there today and order a basic turkey and bacon sandwich (Dutch Schultz), but with chipolte mayo, not regular mayo. It was good. However, it was only really a 3 star sandwich. If I would have gotten regular mayo, I probably would have given it 2 stars. The problem with this sandwich is the quality of the turkey. It didn't have the turkey breast type quality that I come to expect from deli's. The meat tasted ok, but it had that slimy texture that you get from supermaket meat....I would have expected a bit more from Ricks. Let me start off by saying that this used to be my favorite sandwich place in the entire Reno Sparks area. It's been over a month since I reported finding a whole fly and a sandwich that I bought from them and mid bite they have been completely negligent in resolving the matter. This scares me because if we found this in our sandwich there's no telling what else is going on in that kitchen. I've only been here twice, but I plan to correct that in the coming months. My first experience was with a John Gotti sandwich which just about blew my face off. Marinated chicken breast, bacon, cheese, on a Dutch Crunch roll. This morning I stopped in for some breakfast and had the best breakfast burrito I have ever had (bacon breakfast burrito with sauteed onions, hold the salsa - bacon was even crispy!!). While I was waiting for my food I really enjoyed the pictures of New York and Chicago. There is one especially cool one over the door of Chicago's Grand Ave in the 30's. On both visits, the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. I will be back many, many times. read more

The oatmeal is $3.25 on the menu, so I can't vouch for what the other reviewer was mentioning. What I can vouch for is the amazing sandwiches this place serves up. There are about a million sandwich shops (Port of Subs, Subway, Deli Towne, Etc.) in reno, and they all serve pretty much the same thing with varying levels of quality. Rick's has delicious sandwiches and they're completely unique. I've tried to work my way down the menu, but the "John Gotti" sandwich always pulls me back in. Not only are their sandwiches amazing but their customer service is exceptional. I had a problem with a delivery order through DoorDash where the app placed the wrong order and when I brought it to their attention the manager personally delivered my order to me very quickly. I eat here a lot being right across the street from my office. New York Gangster theme restaurant with nice appropriate Deli atmosphere. People are nice and the service is spot on. The sandwiches are really good and the right size for a lunch. I like the Dutch Shultz and the Godfather...but all are really good a fresh. The soup and salad are a great deal for $6 bucks. I bought the soho sandwich here which cost me about 7.25, it so was not worth it. The bread was just bland bread from any grocery store and for that price I would of hoped it would fill me up, but it did not. There was nothing special about that sandwich. It looked like a bland basic sandwich I could of made at home for half that price. It should of cost 4 bucks. I could pay an extra 2 dollars at Rubicon Deli and get a phenomenal veggie sandwich that would last me 2 meals. My husbands sandwich was just ok as well. I might give it another shot but with those prices and lack of substance and originality, I doubt it. Pretty basic sandwich shop. The main reason I like this place is they DON'T serve oversized sandwiches with inflated prices like many in Reno do. The quality ranges from average to good depending on what you order -- I'd suggest the dutch crunch bread as being the best option. The service is friendly and decently quick even during lunch hours. The cookie and brownie are decent for like $1.50. I used to always ask for my receipt because the name on it would be a description of you. this was such a disappointment! The first time going to Rick's Deli, there was NO ONE in the place (customers) and yet they still messed up four orders. When calling after we got back to the office to let them know the gal was very nice and asked that we give them another try...on the house....sounds good right.....NOT! I've generally been pretty happy with the food at Rick's, however quality customer service has been hit and miss for me. If you get Lucy to take your order, she is great! But today I had a run in with the "owners son," or at least that's how he refereed to himself. He would not allow me to redeem my 20% discount for LIKEing them on Facebook, as I was told I would. He said the incentive only works when you write a "positive" review on Yelp. So..... buyer beware, what you read may or may not be true considering there is a discount attached to the review.
