I had a 2 year old Rheem water heater from Home Depot that failed and was recalled for exchange. I decided to replace mine so that I would not have to deal with HD warranty and private label substandard product. Rick came out immediately to review my complex indoor closet with both furnace and water heater tightly woven inside. He recommended not going with tankless and to replace with a similar model from a distributor that he would warranty for 6 years. He recommended adding a drain line into the the raised foundation to make sure my interior was safe from any malfunction and he noticed that the venting was never installed properly which probably caused the malfunction. Rick took his Sunday evening to remove and prep the closet for an early morning delivery and install on Monday. He quoted a very reasonable price to re-plumb the galvanized to copper in the closet (the rest of my plumbing was already copper) and to reset the recirculation pump. Rick worked tirelessly with MacGyver ingenuity to get the new water heater into place which was not an easy feat at all. He noticed that there was a leak in the anode rod which required a specialized tool which he left to find and immediately repaired. He left no stone unturned and created an expert assembly with closet in better condition that when he arrived. He even fixed the doorknobs on the closet! He was polite, timely, and delivered on all promises. He even tested my water and checked my water softener to make sure everything was working on par. We stopped getting hot water and were worried whether we would be able to get someone to come in to fix our water tank in such short notice and with the government lockout order due to coronavirus had us concerned. Rick's plumbing had installed our new water tank in 2017 and did an amazing job then and we had to call for his services again. We were relieved when Rick confirmed to come by the same day. A part had to be ordered from the manufacturer that would take 4 business day. However Rick went above and beyond to call his local suppliers and find the exact part needed. He drove from Brea to La Palma to get the part and came back to replace it. He wanted to make sure our family had hot water and he did not even charge us for the house call because he said we were under the warranty even though we insisted to cover at the very least for his gas cost but he still refused. I have to say Rick is one hell of a plumber. We had a water heater go out and I found Rick's Plumbing on Yelp and figured I would give him a shot after leaving messages for others will no call backs. Rick came the next day exactly at 2:30...got out of his truck with his helper and got right to work...the old heater was out in minutes and he then spent most of his time removing and fixing/prepping the old plumbing that some other plumber did a half ass job on including a whole new gas line running from the wall to the new unit with no extra charges. I watched the whole process and he made it look easy...it's not but that's how good he is at his profession. Heater went in no issues...turned it on...cleaned up well and he was on his way. All business with some great conversation during the work. I called Rick to replace a broken water boiler years ago. Rick came quickly and done a superb job installing a new water boiler at my house with a 6 year warranty. The warranty covers labor from him and the water boiler from the manufacturer. About 2 months ago, the water boiler started leaking so I called Rick about replacing it under warranty, he didn't make me wait at all even though he wouldn't be paid for this replacement and came almost immediately and replaced the bad boiler. As promised, he did not charge me anything for labor, just the cost of the boiler. He even showed me the receipt where he got the boiler from to proof he did not charge me extra. Then he gave me full instructions on how to get my warranty refund back from the manufacturer. I wish dealing with the manufacturer was as easy as dealing with Rick because the manufacturer sent me to this department and that department, asked me to send info to an email they gave me and never replied to my email. It was a nightmare, however, Rick would call me from time to time to check on the progress when that wasn't really his problem at all. Finally, when he saw that I was getting nowhere with the manufacturer after like 2 months of trying, he asked me for the info I had and he personally went to his boiler supplier himself and they talked to the manufacturer for me and within a few days, Rick himself sent me the refund check for the full amount!!! I was all set to purchase a water softener/reverse osmosis system from one of the big box stores until I found out that Rick also sells and installs a water softener system (with a warranty to boot!) for only a little more than buying my own system and finding someone to install it.
