The fact that on the first day of the job one of the workers would not support the "bosses" claim of being the best should have SCREAMED crappy work. DO NOT hire this place if you're looking to have the job done right. ESPECIALLY if you live in Mount Prospect and you are having your sump system redone because of the village ordinance. This company comes in low ball quotes to guarantee they get the work then they come in do half ass work, collect their grant money from the village. And all you're left with is water in your home and half ass done work. And you can own a home with TWO sumps now for some reason! Shame on this company AND the village of Mount Prospect for taking advantage of their elderly and NOT using a LOCAL company for the work they are forcing on their residents. SHAME The work was NOT done right how they can even say that when we now have TWO sumps and pits is beyond me. The "boss" literally couldn't even verify that the first pit was never filled for whatever reason because he sends his guys in to do the work and doesn't ever check the work himself. So when we contacted him to ask why we were forced to dig another pit when the first was completely still working he couldn't even give us an answer or be like yea it wasn't filled because he never checked the damn work. But it doesn't even matter now because I would NEVER let this company in my home again. And of course it passed inspection this whole thing seems to be a money grab for the village and whatever company is involved. This entire process has showed us nothing but corporate and government greed. Please go with any company on the list other than Ricks. Elk Grove actually came out with cameras showed us and explained the process instead of "man-explaining" and taking advantage of a 75+ year old widow. I wish the village had of approved them instead of Ricks. A company which they suspiciously seem to be approving for most of the jobs for some reason. For over 22 years, I've had my sewers rodded annually without any issues. I used Rick's for the past two years because their price was the lowest. I was always a bit suspicious -- their service was not only cheaper but also noticeably faster than others I had used before. At the end of July, they performed my annual rodding and mentioned that there were very few roots. On Sept 29th, I noticed a small amount of sewer water seeping into my finished basement. I immediately called Rick's again. They came out, did another rodding, pulled out some roots, and charged me again -- even though their July service clearly hadn't been effective. That same night, my basement flooded with a large amount of sewage water, completely ruining the carpet and creating an awful mess. This time, I decided not to repeat my mistake. I called a reputable Highland Park plumber, who came the next day, properly rodded the sewer, and fixed the issue. He informed me that Rick's had not done a thorough job -- if they had, they would have found the roots and the broken pipe during their earlier visits. I contacted Rick's to explain what happened and requested a refund of $700 as well as compensation for the damage to my basement. Not surprisingly, they denied any responsibility. read more

I was told $350 for power rodding- which is way more than the average but I assume they added the "Lake Forest tax" given the address of my home. When the plumber arrives and I tell him my home is newer he informs me that newer homes have plastic pipes and will not require rodding- but he can stick a camera down the outlet just to be sure- which he does for about 5 minutes and tells me I do not need power rodding- oh but here's your bill for $350 anyways. HERE's the BEST PART! I paid.. and then they texted me for my email address to send the receipt and I told them I felt still charging me when the service wasn't performed was unethical and the woman who answers the phone proceeds to send me a SLEW of aggressive and harassing text messages about how honest she is. When your toilet is plugged you NEED fast service and, Rick's Sewer & Drainage, provided that when other companies could not. They were referred to me by Clar Plumbing and they lived up to the recommendation. They worked quickly and, in a little over an hour, my drain was cleared. I'm incredibly happy with the service I got from Rick's. We had two other companies out to clear our sewer lines. One couldn't get the main line cleared while still charging me and the other was saying I would need to tear up concrete because the lines are damaged. Jay came out the same day and got our main line cleared and 2 days later performed hydro jetting on one of our branch lines that was severely packed with sludge. But when you come across such an incredible organization you have to spread the word. We bought a new house in the Northshore and the 3rd day we had water in our basement. Originally I had scheduled another company to perform work on my sewer and for whatever reason the company never came back to start or finish the work. Rick's was next door doing sewer work on my neighbor for the same issue we have and that is back up sewer. These guys are great. When we discovered that our house sewers weren't connected directly to the city sewer but through the septic field, they came and fixed it. I was expecting the entire backyard to be torn up and in complete disarray; I was astounded at the care they took getting equipment over the lawn. When they were done, it was almost as if they hadn't been there at all, except for the seeded strip where the trench was. Two years later the dirt has settled the grass has grown in and you'd never know there had been work done. This company is a subcontractor of R&S Plumbing. We were quoted $225 to have our main sewer line rodded out which we were told would take an hour or so. It turns out that it was a simple bathtub clog that took the plumber 5 minutes to unclog and we were still charged $225. This is highly unethical and they gouged us. Do NOT ever use R&S plumbing or Rick's Sewer and Plumbing. Totally dishonest. read more

I needed someone on a Saturday to clear a blockage on my sewer service. Called at 10 am and left a message, they called back within a half hour and said they would be out between noon and 2 pm. Showed up at 1:30 pm, got right to work and started rodding. As I expected, tree roots for the last 20 feet going to the Village main. They kept at it until they got through then put on a bigger cutter and went back after it. Bill was reasonable and they worked at it until they got it done. Hope I don't have to have them back, but with tree roots I know I will. read more
