We have gone in for breakfast a few times and they usually only have 1 waitress on the restaurant side so she is always running around like crazy but is still attentive and helpful. Don't come here if you want food in any sort of timely manner. Ordered food at the same time we got our drinks. Almost 45 minutes later and we see the people behind us (who sat after) get their food. So someone in our party inquired about ours. They said their system went down and it's back up and she was making sure it would be out in a bit. 30 minutes later, still no food. So we inquired again. I came in the other night with a great group of about 10. We arrived around 9pm and couldn't find anywhere to sit inside, but service was prompt. We were able to find seats around 10pm and had a blast! We stayed until 1am singing karaoke, dancing and having delicious drinks. Fettuccine Alfredo was dry, the fried mushrooms were just fried in batter no flavor,I liked the fried zucchini but not much flavor either.

I haven't been this disappointed in a restaurant order in a LONG time. We have lived in the area for over 7 years and finally decided to give this place a try. When we received our delivery, we were NOT impressed. The order of mushrooms were less than half of what was shown on the menu. The "beer battered" onion rings were actually frozen panko crusted and the "10" piece coconut shrimp were also from frozen, small and I didn't receive the entire order of those either. On top of not receiving all 10, the coleslaw that came with it was nothing but a dry mix of cabbage and carrots (no sauce). I ordered my husband a burger which was obvious the patty also came from frozen and the fries were wet and soggy. Also, don't even bother paying extra for dips or sauces because they only fill the cups up 1/2 way. 100% disappointment here all the way around. Especially for the prices we paid for everything. Honestly, after all the bad reviews, I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, this is based on two visits over 5 years apart, but still! The first time I went was at midnight on my 21st birthday, literally my first legal drink ever. I got an old fashioned, and they were nice enough to serve me even though they were closing up shop. If I remember correctly, I enjoyed my drink, though it also was my first old fashioned so I didn't know what the hell it was supposed to taste like. The second time I went was tonight. I gotta say, after reading the reviews, as a gay man going with my Mexican friend, I was a little concerned, which was heightened by going for karaoke on the night of a UFC match (McGregor vs. someone). When we got there, there were a ton of people there for the match, mostly white "tough guys", a few with Culp hats and other indications we may not be welcome. Despite our better judgement, we got some jello shots, stayed for a beer, and then when the fight was over, went in for karaoke. The karaoke queue was short, so we were able to sing quick, and everyone was supportive and having a great time. After singing, we we had another beer and played beer pong on the patio. The crowd was much more diverse than we expected. Every color represented, and clearly some LGBT people as well. And the bartender was super nice to both of us (well, the guy was; the girl was very busy and seemed stressed) and helped us out when he saw we were waiting too long. The beers and the jello shots were cheap, and as good as you expected bottled beer and jello shots to be. We did get an order of mozzarella sticks which were probably a little over priced for what they were, but they were good! All-in-all, a great time a good neighborhood bar. It feels more like a city bar than you'd expect from the area...in a good way. Reminds me of the bars I used to frequent in Dallas. I will be back and probably will become a regular! Ok, so I've never been to the legendary Ricky J's, and I had high hopes for this experience. I drive by often, it always seemed busy and if I mentioned the name, everyone knew the place. We came in and the friendly ambience was very welcoming. It felt like a cool bar to hang out in, the type that's spacious but still close, pool, darts, the usual gathering hole. Service was fast, we had a waitress within minutes of sitting down, and ordered. Drinks were prompt and the food was literally minutes behind. Just ordered starters, cheese bread, fish and chips. Had a Mac & Jacks. Food was pretty subpar, the cheese on the garlic bread was pretty oily, and greasy, and the french fries and fish were cold. Overall, not a bad place to hang out, I'll try something different next time. read more

Drive by Ricky J's every day from work to home and looks like a typical sports bar from outside. Wife and I wanted something to eat that didn't have a wait on a Saturday night. Incredible staff. Food was amazing and had large portions. Very clean. There are two sides, one for family dining and one for bar area.

We have dropped into Ricky J's twice now and both times we received great customer service. They have a decent beer selection, two pool tables, and a daily happy hour. Really nice bartenders and staff (though, the bartenders could pay a little better attention to how long someone is waiting for a drink and make sure to serve the person who has been waiting the longest!) I have been here several times because it's where my team meets as middle grounds. Wether we sit on the restaurant side or bar side it is SLOW and rude service. I will say the food is the redeeming quality! However, when I order and they don't bring the sauces (ranch, etc) and I have to ask again the staff seems so annoyed. I thought it was just low staff the first time we came but now I can confirm it's not. This bar is a 10min walk from my house. They could be making a lot more if service was not consistently awkwardly annoyed. I'd love to love this place as it's convenient, but it just falls short. read more

Waitress Patricia brought our beers and we asked why we had to give a card right away and she said that it was store policy. She then walked by another table (they had already eaten) and got their card. WTF? So we asked the couple if they were asked for a card immediately and they said no. I went to Ricky J's with my dad and stepmom during dinner time on a Monday. Bar was decently busy, not packed. We started our experience with one waitress and ended with a different waiter. I've been in many times and understand that it's a "dive" bar without the frills but totally fits the bill as the backdrop for a good hang. Highs and lows: HIGHS: --The remodel looks great, seems a lot more clean in the bar (didn't go into bathrooms or restaurant) --We didn't have to wait a lifetime for our food like other times we've been in LOWS: --Very limited cider/seltzer selection. I have a gluten allergy and it just gets old being offered Angry Orchard or White Claw everywhere I go. Again, I know it's a dive bar but wish they were more "with the times" and willing to accommodate dietary needs with better options. --Beware the menu has ZERO GF/Vegetarian options. I'm not looking for anything extravagant but when I asked if they might have even a black bean patty or a frozen GF pizza crust so I could enjoy something other than a modified salad, the waitress was really rude and chuckled and said "no we don't have fancy options like that" -- I'm sorry, neither of those things are fancy nor too much to ask for. So I ended up getting a $15 average salad with no meat on it. So you pay $15 for what -- lettuce, egg, and cheese. But perhaps her attitude was the biggest disappointment. --Steep menu prices for what you get -- food and environment-wise. Overall, if you don't have dietary restrictions, don't mind paying a solid amount for simple bar food, and don't mind interacting sometimes condescending staff, you can go to Ricky J's and get a satisfying meal, good people watching, and enjoy their newly renovated space. read more

Salads are delicious here, especially the shrimp Louie salad. Cobb salad is good. Taco salad was good, just be sure to eat it quickly cause the warm taco meat will wilt the lettuce. These three salads are decently priced. $10.49 for taco salad and $10.99 for shrimp Louie and Cobb! Salt and vinegar wings are the only non breaded wings, all the others are breaded.
